I'm sorry to have gotten you embroiled over there, I just need to learn that an African American cannot be a racist, a woman can't be a sexist, if I could just find out how as a redneck, I can't be a redneck I'll be OK.
By the way, my wife was in a beauty pagent as a senior in High school,, same reason, to earn scholarship money for college. As far as I can remember, she has never gotten any royalties from any porn movie, or fees from any photo spread(no pun intended).
So on to next rant as Cam's sleeping while we are still in ER. Biden said it's patriotic to pay taxes, since married with children soldiers serving in Iraq will fall below tax line, I understand why Dems hate the military, they feel they are not patriotic. Also, much like in the Civil War, Rich men when drafted were able to provide money for a suragate. So money buys patriotism..
I do thank all of you ladies and LuAnnH
for nice words.

Joe Biden has been put out to pasture. His mouth over-runneth his brains.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/10/biden_shuffled_off_to_the_side.html
He didn't do any interviews as I recall after the debate either. Why wasn't everyone clamoring to talk to him about his misstatements? Seems he got a free pass.
-
I am supposed to be gone. However......do "we" go over every post looking for someone to be offensive and report them? It wouldn't be hard to do. Do they screen people for their political beliefs before they befriend them? So upsetting.....
WonderfulSpouse, please tell Cam that there are nifty women everywhere praying for her! I just wish my list weren't so long..........
I went to Dancing with the Stars boards to see who got kicked off tonight (too lazy to go down and get video)~~~~there are people there arguing politics!!! AND~~~ads for Senator Obama all over the website. Whatever happened to Campaign Finance Reform? Think of the WEALTH that could have been distributed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Nancy,
Yes, Obama4President (Amy) is a breast cancer survivor. She has a very "unique" style of writing her posts, and always has. I read them with a grain of salt, skipping over certain parts, and attempt to find the meaning separate from the style (in all the threads she posts in).
The same with my friend OD. I know her history and understand her deepest fears of Obama's reported associations. So when things are written about Obama and the possibility of a future dictatorship in the U.S., I understand where that is coming from. There was a report on T.V. last night about the U.S. Cuban population and this fear was reflected in their community, and understandably so.
Shirley .. we're all angry. We're all afraid and concerned for our future and the future of our children. I have a son in grad school with two children. His wife is a school teacher with a masters in ed. They own a small home in S.D. They can't afford daycare, mortgage, bills, health insurance (theirs is through her school district at $780 a month for the family), school tuition, school loans, etc. They're buying groceries with a credit card.
Tim and I can't afford to buy heating fuel. We're all angry and afraid. Doesn't matter if we are Dems or Repubs. I have friends on both sides of the aisle. Doesn't affect our friendship ... just makes for more conversation between friends. My republican neighbors can't afford to buy heating fuel either.
About IBCspouse ... As a husband of a woman with breast cancer, he has every right to post on BCO wherever he wants. BTW ... as a dem, I am a supporter of our nations military. As a teenager in the 60's and a student of the VietNam war and Vietnam prior to the war, I was not a supporter of that war. It began in the 50's as IBC knows. I did support our troops, but not the war. The American Vets charities are the only charities I support and have ever supported.
As for the media, I think it depends on which channel or publication a person chooses to watch or read. I'm a dem, but the one I found the most interesting is actually pretty right wing ... Matthew Kibbe's site. I don't feel like I'm being mistreated by the media. I just turn if off they get on my nerves. Same with reading here at BCO. If something gets on my nerves, I just skip over it.
-
I just heard that NBC and some other media has never reported Biden's gaffe about Obama's first six months in office. However, they investigated every little personal detail they could find about Joe the Plumber. How many investigators/reporters were sent to Alaska to find any bit of dirt on Palin. And now big news...her dh was in the other party..segration...until perhaps the last two years. And Sarah welcomed them to their town of Wasilla. But if any person WHO THINKS FOR THEMSELF listens carefully to what she says (it's on YouTube) she says competition is healthy. She was never a part of that political party. And I'm assuming she talked some sense into her dh. Now I was reading an "old news story" on AOL about flying her children with here and how much it cost the government..was it legal..such nonsense as that.
I need to turn off all media stations and stop reading any more of this crap...but I can't.
When I go over <------------------------------------------ I see nothing just ranting and how awful we are..racist. stay away from the negative energy (that would me me - love it!
). If there's ANY negative energy is over <-------------------------------------------.
Okay, I'm off to screw my head on my shoulders and do some housework, DD isn't coming here today, but will come tomorrow.

McCain 'amazed' by Palin treatment Andy Barr - Politico.com
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14820.html
John McCain called out fellow Republicans who have questioned running mate Sarah Palin's credentials Tuesday.
"What's their problem?" McCain asked during an interview with radio host Don Imus.
"She is a governor, the most popular governor in America," McCain said. "I think she is the most qualified of any that has run recently for vice president."
"I'm amazed. I'm amazed. Which is better? Serve 35 years in the United States Senate and say you've got to divide Iraq into three different countries, or be governor of a state and a reformer and give people their tax dollars back and bring about reform in the way that your state does business? Which is better?"
Several leading conservatives, including columnists Kathleen Parker of National Review and David Brooks of the New York Times, have questioned McCain's judgment in selecting Palin.Parker called Palin "out of her league" in a September column urging the Alaska governor to drop out of the race. Brooks, meanwhile, called Palin "a fatal cancer to the Republican Party" during a forum hosted by The Atlantic magazine earlier this month.
McCain dismissed their criticisms and credited Palin for energizing the conservative base in a year in which the GOP faces "a stiff headwind."
"She has ignited our crowds," McCain said. "She has a wonderful family, a great husband, great values and she shares my worldview."
"I'm entertained at the elitist attitude towards a person who is proven leader."
Looking back on Palin's early interviews with ABC's Charles Gibson and CBS's Katie Couric, McCain said Palin did well and derided the press for asking "gotcha" questions.
"She did a great job in those interviews. If you want to go with the gotcha questions that's fine, that's fine, I understand that. I get them all the time," the Arizona senator said. "It's easy to make fun of people and ask them gotcha questions. That's fine. I understand how the game is played. But don't think the American people buy that baloney."
McCain also mocked suggestions that Palin has to face tough interviews on the Sunday shows in order to prove herself to voters.
"That's hilarious. With thousands of people showing up at town hall meetings, I've never had a person show up and ask when she is going on ‘Meet the Press.' Not one."
With less than two weeks to go before Election Day, the Republican conceded that he is trailing Barack Obama but seemed optimistic about his chances.
"We're doing fine. We have a lot of enthusiasm out there. We're working hard and enjoying the rallies and having fun. I'm very confident," he said. "I think we're behind, but it's within the margin of error and we're coming up. All the indicators are that we're coming up." -
I hate to read a woman sounding like a low life when she really doesn't have to. If a person is truly educated, the last thing they would do is use a body part to describe another woman. This is a board full of women and some men and how embarrassing is that for all of us? I can't read anything over there at all because of it. It's sad for us all and for anyone who has to read that unknowingly that it will be used to describe another woman.
-
I don't know if your all up on the latest flak going on about CNN Drew Griffin's interview with Sarah Palin yesterday. He misrepresented what Byron York had written about Sarah Palin to Gov. Palin and it was false. It's sad they'll go that far. Here's what York actually said in his piece on Sarah:

I love republicans, I love democrats, I even love amy at the moment. Pet/CT scan,
"No apparent breast carcinoma, no lymphatic activity" no uptake or activity found. The Dr. the great Dr. C of IBC fame, is happy yet guarded. Due to severe SE, he is continuing Ixampra, dropping Xeloda till Cam can get with Radiologist. It looks like surgury is out, so going with whole chest radiation. He's not real thrilled about having to do that, but he said the massive amount of involement when she was DX, (IBC in both breast, skin involement over both breast, up chest above collar bone and under arm around to back, Ovary, axillary nodes, and supercavicle node) that surgury will be a high risk of instant recurrance due to skin.
That worry is for another day, today, Cancer has left my Cam. We are in treatment room now while she is getting chemo, so tomorrow nite, some form of lobster, pasta, and wine.
Thank all of you for your prayers and best wishes.
-
Awesome news ibc. Hope Cam is resting comfortably during chemo.
-
IBC, the best news ever. Who wins this election is not nearly as important as your wife getting well although guarded. Give Cam a great big gentle hug from us. And we're giving you a great big NOT SO GENTLY bear hug!
Shirley
I'm smiling.
-
IBC - I am so happy for you and Cam! I will continue to pray that cancer stays away.
-
-
goodnews ibc, very thankful.
I made the mistake of going over to the other side.............> have got to quit doing that they make me so mad. To me it is plain as day that Obama is NOT the man to lead our country. With his musleum background, his church that hates american, his association with terrorist, his belief in abortion and gay marriages. I could never vote for him. I think Palin has handled everything with so much class and confidence and am very proud for her to be vice President. I also admire McCain, all that man has lived through, he can get this country on the right path.JMO
-
Spar, don't you remember what Obama said in that Forum by the ministers. He asked Obama his definition of "marriage." Obama replied that it's between a man and a woman. Sorry, but people who are gay didn't like that answer. Also, the question to Obama about when life begins..his answer..."above my pay grade." I wonder what other decisions are above his "pay grade?" He would not answer that question because anybody with any political interest would know that he voted to let babies die if they were born alive. That should be a question to ask him, what would you want done if a botched abortion happened? Would you want the doctor to try to save the baby's life, or would you want to let "it" die? I'm sure that's above his pay grade too. We know that his statement that he would meet with Iran and other nations without preconditions are WAY "above his pay grade."
Spar, accept it. We are not welcome over there. They don't want us posting legitimate questions. Or providing them information to read. They don't want to SEE some truths. They want to rant sexist things about Palin and they have McCain dead. Forget about Biden's so many gaffes that the MSM never publishes. But, they can to a hit job on the front page of their news paper(actually I wouln't call it a news paper..it more like a tabloid) about Cindy McCain EVEN to the point of questioning if she ever had a stroke..to she frail..she's thin...what's up with that? They even went into the McCain's relationship between he and Cindy. I'm aghast at how anyone with a fair mind and can THINK would not find this reprehensible.
I have talked to people who know nothing about Obama but are voting for him. No one can give me a sound reason except we need change..he's smart..
I have never accused him of being a Muslim. He says he isn't, so I accept that. I find it strange that he had no problem with his church giving a reward to Farrakkan. I find a lot of things strange. LOL
-
Ok, my love of Democrats is now tempered and amy was just a passing crush. But first, I did go look at the other place to see how they were fairing under the asault of logic from Shirley and Spar. Do you ladies ware body armor. I did notice that I only go there to "bully the breast cancer surviors'. I do think that nicky gives the male gender way to much credit. For any man especially me to leap into a group of Strong, opinionated, bright women who have looked cancer in the eye and prevailed and try to force them to my will with my bad typing and poor spelling is absurd. (world record run on sentence) I have more faith in women than she does. I could not bully Cam with a shotgun, and I would not have any respect for her if I could. It is back to their beliefs, Racism only comes from one side, Sexist can only come from one gender.
As the ladies said when I posted there, they only know me from reading over here. I don't go there, even to read. I raised a daughter, as a child I could tell her, as an adolesent I could discuss things with her, as a teenager she knew everything so no point arguing,
Question: Does saying the troops should come home in 16 months for over two years, mean you have always been right, when you get to within 16 months of the war being won. Cnn and Time are lauding Obama as a brilliant foriegn policy expert because the Satus of Force mirrors Obama's plan, if you get to pick what point in time or what version you want.
-
WonderfulSpouse, fairy kisses to Cam and a big smooch to you!
We are always pleased with better news. The menu sounds right on!!!
Here's what appears to be a logical article from the Wall Street Journal. We all need to be prepared for the Liberal Supermajority ~~~on both sides of the figurative aisle, since there won't be much of an "other" side. Brave New World?? (I sent it to my liberal friends; YES, I have many! I asked them for their opinions~~~and to please redistribute their wealth in my direction!)
-
From the WSJ:
In both 1933 and 1965, liberal majorities imposed vast expansions of government that have never been repealed, and the current financial panic may give today's left another pretext to return to those heydays of welfare-state liberalism. Americans voting for "change" should know they may get far more than they ever imagined."
Now these newspapers are having second thoughts. Most of them blindly followed The One, couldn't get enough of him, and finally something is hitting them over the head to wake them up. A little too late. Ummmm, did we ever say having 2 Houses full of liberals with an ultra liberal President, isn't a good thing? I guess it's better said now then on Nov. 5th.

Some Margaret Thatcher quotes:

She also said something about socialism can only last as long as there are people willing to pay for it. Not a direct quote. We are about to head backwards.

I enjoy this long distance form of communication. First, my comment about my spelling was not a reference to any previous post. It was my clumsy attempt to say that I believe the ladies of this board are smarter and more articulate than I am. I don't know if you read my post on Michelle and the one that followed or just was told about it. I will try to explain, I am niether a woman or an African American, so I guess I look at things from more of an outsider. To stereo type a woman and give her value for only the assets that are found beneath her clothes(the penthouse comment) to me was akin to taking a Proud, Harvard educated attorney and streotyping her as a Aunt Jamima caracture. As I said with the post, it was an offensive post, the most offensive I have ever posted. It was posted as stated to say that using the most demeaning stereotype of race or gender hurts the process. It demeans all African Americans, and demeans all women. The problem is that I am male and I am white, Just like when I in a blues club and the blacks are using the n word to each other or when I am on a Breast Cancer board with women reducing the abilities of each other to their unique body parts, I need not comment.
-
Harley,
Barney Frank was pretty darned blatantly saying we aint seen nothing yet when talking about raising taxes the other day. Pelosi is now talking about a $300 billion stimulus package, gone are the days of $150 Bil. She took one look at the polls, and money has started to roll off the presses.
The democrats have their earmark wish-list already in the making. Hollywood is planning on taking their money and buying homes in tax-sheltered countries. Yup, a breath of stale air from the 70's will be coming to a legislative body near us. Those tried and failed programs from the past are coming back into vogue again. Stick out your hands everyone, the dems can print that green stuff quicker then we can say...bankruptcy.
-
Harley,
Thank you, by the way, I love your name. Every mistress I have every had has had that name. The first name has been Heritage, Fat Boy, Ulta Classic, Superglide, Low rider, the last name was Davidson.

Spar2 - Obama is not a Muslim - but it would not matter if he were - I personally have many Muslim friends - some who I would be proud to vote for for President if they could run (not natural born citizens). They have paid a huge price for a few people who have hijacked their religion for their own personal gain. If a few Christians were to start a terrorist organization would that make all Christians guilty? The vast majority of Muslims, like the vast majority of any religion are good, hardworking, honest people who want the same things that you and I want. It should not matter what a candidates religion is.
I am not voting for Obama because I do not like his agenda. I do think he has a tendency to associate himself with some rather unsavory people which calls into question his judgement. I have looked at his Senate record in Illinois and in the US Senate - what he voted on when he did vote and his views do not mesh with mine. I find it also interesting that he "changed" his vote at least six times while in the Illinois Senate. I guess there you can change your vote - your original vote stands but you can later change it to reflect that you hit the wrong button by "mistake". You can read the story about it here: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-obamavotes24jan24,0,713086.story I do not think voters who are voting for him know what he will do once elected. I have been watching and reading about this election for months now and he does not seem to have a firm policy on anything except raising taxes on the rich. What he does not realize is that many of them can quit working or work a whole lot less so they fall into the under $250,000 category. Who is going to pay for all his spending programs? He is supposed to eliminate capital gains on small businesses - this is supposed to sound good - they will pay less taxes - BUT they don't pay capital gains taxes unless they sell their business for a profit! So say I have a sandwich shop - next year I am approached by Subway which has a store about 1/2 mile from mine- they want to buy my business - under Obama I would not have to pay any capital gains tax on the profit - so if the price is right I could sell my business to Subway - take the profit and run or retire or whatever and not pay any capital gains tax on the profit. What happens to my employees? - they most likely will join the unemployment line because they just bought my customers who now have to go the 1/2 mile to the Subway shop for a sandwich. I can see lots of small businesses being eaten up by big businesses.
Also the tax thing - increasing taxes on the "rich" to give to the not so rich. It is not a tax cut. He will give tax "credits" so that people who are making less than $40,000 a year and do not pay income taxes will get a check from the government each April 15 or thereabouts. Not everyone in this country is motivated to work hard to get ahead. My son has some friends from high school who went to college for a couple of years and dropped out because it was "too much work" and are now living in their parent's basements and they are content to work low-wage jobs and watch TV and play video games. Under Obama they will get even more money for doing nothing so where will the incentive be to get a better job. They will even have healthcare so that incentive will be gone. You know there are a lot of rich people who support Obama - do you think they see CHEAP LABOR in the future. I am sure there will be lots of people who will work for less just so they get those checks. He says that he will let the Bush tax cuts expire on those making over $250,000 - but with the Dems in Congress and with not enough Republicans to have a voice - it will more than likely go down to at least $75,000 - the excuse - with the economic downturn - that is now "rich".
-
Question: Does saying the troops should come home in 16 months for over two years, mean you have always been right, when you get to within 16 months of the war being won. CNN and Time are lauding Obama as a brilliant foreign policy expert because the Status of Force mirrors Obama's plan, if you get to pick what point in time or what version you want.
Oh, I'm so confused! I mean I'm just a Canadian so I really don't know about this Iraq war stuff, but isn't it because the surge was successful that it's now possible to bring the troops home in 16 months - 2 years? And didn't Obama not want the surge? So if there hadn't been a surge, then would it be possible to safely withdraw the troops over the next 16 months - 2 years? Hmmmm....... Wait, maybe it's Biden's plan that's behind all this. He's the foreign policy expert on the Democratic ticket, right? And he called for Iraq to be split apart. Uh, no, that doesn't seem to make sense either although I suppose if Iraq was split apart, maybe we wouldn't need troops in Iraq. Or would we? Hmmmm.......
-
Hi Suz,
I think some focus should be put on other aspects of Obama's tax plan as well. I think there is incentive to work hard and get a better paying job. I have no desire to go out and earn less money so I can get a better refund check. I need to pay my bills month to month, not buy a new t.v. in April.
Also, I'm sick of transcribing and working my ass off for bupkas, when the industry has moved overseas. You know what I'm talking about. I thought I'd go back to school. In my area the best paying jobs are social service jobs. Well, at the local junior college it costs $81 per unit. That's about $350 per class after fees and books. Who can afford that. I can't. Obama's $4k credit would help me pay for school so I could get a better job with benefits. Maybe some of the poor people here in the second poorest county in VA could too.
Another point, with the housing market falling off, now is actually a good time to buy a home for first time buyers with a decent job. The 30 yr fixed rated is about 5.85% today. Obama's plan is offering an additional 10% off the regular mortgage interest write-off. That's a pretty big incentive to work hard and own your own home.
Just thought I'd take a minute to point out some of the other things in Obama's proposed tax plan.
Bren
PS ... Great news IBC spouse ... so happy to hear about Cam. BTW .. our little buddy's name was "old Panhead"!
