Hey, Bluewillow, tune in tomorrow.  Since you don't have a televsion perhaps we can find her speech and post it here for you.

Also, WELCOME Susfive!  Yep, we need all the support we can get.  OR, we may just go out and strangle someone..or worse yet...through something through or television sets!

If you are home, I suggest you turn on C-Span.  I've seen Newt give a great speech, he just finished and he went over the Obama credentials, or lack thereof.   It took one minute to outline his experience.  Not much to report.  But he said something funny.  What's the population of Delaware?

Earlier, they had ladies on, Carly Fiorina and others who had a Q & A with the press about all the sexist speak going on in the press.  They are outraged as we are and let the press have it.

Then the team of Reps that went to ANWR gave a Q&A to the press, the very same one's who are taking turns in the House waiting for the Madam Pelosi to call everyone back.  They're still waiting. It has been a very informative day.

Shirley, I forgot that when I wrote to John about going to Alaska and meet with Palin, (and bring reporters), I also wrote to her and asked her to invite him.  No wonder she never responded to me.  I won't be upset.

Ladies - Thanks for the welcome.

Linda - I was afraid when they went to college that they would come back as liberals Surprised! Especially the one with the degree in PoliSci and Econ - but she's as conservative as they come. She assures me that there are lots of conservative young people out there and she is getting converts everyday - that girl loves to talk politics and she knows what she is talking about. Didn't see the View but I think they are doing themselves in - there are many working mothers out there who are doing a great job of handling work and family - who are not going to like the fact that someone in their position is being treated this way. All it does is give fuel to those who think that women with children can't make it in business and should stay home or to be successful - don't have children.

Shirley - we don't have cable TV at home and the regular networks are only televising the last hour and then cutting in with their annoying commentary every few seconds. Last night I watched PBS coverage and you would have thought the commentators were at a funeral. I felt like reaching through the television set and shaking them! We will see how they do tonight. Turned on NBC and they were showing President Bush's speech only they were only giving the audio of his speech not the audio from the convention center. If I had not just watched it on PBS, I would have thought there was something wrong with him. Just as I started to watch, Brian Williams came on and explained that they did not have the audio from the convention center and that is why there were pauses in Bush's speech. They only did this after a viewer called and wanted to know what was going on. When will they learn?

Welcome Bluewillow - Gov. Palin is more like you and me than Obama and Biden, John McCain for that matter too. I think that is what scares the left - she will connect with everyday Americans because hey she is one!

Suzfive, I need your daughter to write to two of my daughters.  LOL  Once my oldest went off to college it definitely changed her...she took Woman Study..or whateverh.  My youngest...I guess the same.  My middle daughter is hanging in there WITH us..LOL  And, they work and do not have time to keep us with the prez race.  My middle daughter has two children and a full time job and has to do more work for her "outside" job after the kids go to bed.  She hasn't even heard about Palin's woes...lies about her NOT being preg and that her daughter is pregnant.

You guys have been talkative today.  Took me a bit to catch up.

First - Obama is going to be on O'Riley on Thurs?  Thurs. is when McCain gives his acceptance speech - kind of obvious there don't ya think?

I am another one that watches Fox news.  In situations like this though, it is good to tune in for a bit (that is all I can take) to see what they are saying.  Funny a minute ago, big ego Chris Matthews just couldn't understand why Liberman supported McCain - kept saying why and was it because they shared the same views on the war and they were basically the only ones; he doesn't understand what is going on with women right now either.

I need to go start dinner - have got to be ready for tonight.

I probably should not bring this up because Ted Kennedy is a very sick man.  However, I am.

Why is it that the Kennedy's are forgiven for everything they do?  I won't bother to name all the things that have happened in their lives that make one go HMMMMMM!  We could talk about cheating, alcohol, suspicious death, the Nazi loving Kennedy..old man Joe, the bootlegger, a father who had a lobotomy performed on a daughter that was not so mentally "off", but probably wouldn't play along with daddy Joe's games..he couldn't control her, and on and on.  I know this wasn't nice, but why do some adore this family. Most of the time I believe Jacky Kennedy didn't like to visit with the family.

    Hi again!

Thank you for the welcomes.  I am learning a lot and feel comfortable reading here.  Can't say that about the "other" thread Embarassed  I sensed some nastiness in quite a few of the posts (sorry Obama ladies-- not trying to be mean here)

Shirley, I would love to see a post with Gov. Palin's speech. Maybe it's a good thing I don't have TV because I'd be right there with you on the strangling and throwing.  And oh, great points about the happenings with the Kennedys.

Suz, you are right on in your last paragraph. My husband said it so well, plain and simply, this morning:  Gov. Palin is scary to those people because she is REAL!

Hi Blue Willow---good to have your voice here!  I finally saw what a cute baby everyone was talking about... My avatars had disappeared till now-Your baby grandchild is adorable!

Suz---Glad you came over.  Wondered why you weren't posting here.  LOL

Rosemary and Linda--Sorry I didn't realize C-Span had live coverage. I would have liked to have heard Michael Steeles speech.  I like listening to him.  How did he do?

I hear Romney gave a first salvo of a 2012 run for president in case McCain should lose.  PBS said he went off the map to the right practically labeling Judge Alito and Roberts as liberals.  Is that your take?

And I'm jealous of you all for having TV-- how is the conv. going so far?  I know you're anxiously awaiting Gov. Palin-- keep me posted on how things are going.  I'm sure I'll catch the newsclips and reruns tomorrow, but I'd like to watch and judge for myself-- hopefully someone at my work taped it.

GIRL POWER! Palin didn't miss a beat. She managed to be tough and yet likeable, and she knows how to put down the opposistion and make us laugh. We are looking at a winner who will not only win over the American people, but the rest of the world. She will not only change Washington, she will change the way the rest of the world looks at Republicans. Yeah, I know, I am biased, but it sure is great to have her on our side.

For those of you without CSPAN, you missed a great show. Michael Steele was great (next press secretary?). The Huckster was hilarious as usual, and Guiliani had quite a few funny barbs of his own. Too many great quotes for me to remember. I am so glad that they gave Sarah a long ovation when she came on stage, because I could not tear myself away from the TV and I needed a potty break! LOL

Palin hit a home run.  She's a natural!  I got very irritated when the pundits had to mention that she didn't write the speech and who it was written by.  However, I bet she had some input into what she wanted.  And, I thought, why the heck are you even mentioning she didn't write her speech..no one does.  And then what did the Obama campaign come back with...the person who wrote the  speech writer is George Bush's speech writer.  SOOOOO!  Bush and Palin are two different people.  Idiots!

Bluewillow, your grandbaby is gorgeous.  We have two, one granddaugher who's 5 1/2 and just started kindergarten (they grow up way to fast), and one grandson who is 3.  I have two other daughters who have not PRODUCED for us, and I'm sure one of them won't and pretty sure the other one won't either.  I'm grateful for the two we have.

This was a perfect night.  They're doing the roll call vote now.  This was a great day for me.  I caught Newt earlier in the day, and he was really good in the points he was making.  I hope they repeat it for you all on C-Span tomorrow.

I thought she was great in a down-home type of way.  A professional speaker but not exactly.  She made every point brilliantly.  If Obama and his groupies think there is nothing to being a mayor, then he should be running for that office and get an education.  I rolled when she said they can bring his styrofoam props to back to Hollywood.  They are all getting their points home in an amusing way which is the way it should be.

I loved Guiliani's speech.  He really knew how to set up a crowd for the big moment.  There's way too much to talk about.  But I want to watch the vote.

It was great watching the faces of the media after Gov. Palin's speech - priceless - hard as they tried they couldn't say anything bad about it - truly a star was born. Guiliani's speech was good too. All in all a very good night. Can't wait until tomorrow for McCain's speech. I live in Wisconsin and that will be McCain and Palin's first stop after the convention on Friday. They will appear not too far from where I live so I am going to take my two daughters to the rally. They are sooo excited. I think Palin's daughter Piper will be running for President someday - she is a natural.

Know you think I am nuts but I watched a bit of Fox and then switched to MSNBC

Suz, Nora O'Donnell on MSNBC said she was very sarcastic.  Then Brian Williams - that I once respected - read an email going out to the news media from Joe Cline (not sure if that is with a K), of the NY Times that is a die hard liberal telling everyone not to back off find out all you can about her; that she is lying on things in Alaska (special money, etc.) and then good ole Tom even kind of put her down.

I about fell out of my chair when they first got copies of her speech and heard Matthews, Olberman say why was she attacking the media - they hadn't said anything.  Matthews then said "oh, so now I see how they are going to play this game it is the evil press, that one always works".

I thought she did great, delivery was great, she seemed so relaxed and poised.

Thought you might like to hear some of the negatives being said as well.  Don't expect the media to back off one bit - she did really well, better than the ever expected, so I think it will only get worse from the media.

Nite everyone - a night I'm proud for all of us, our daughters and granddaughters.

Okay, ladies, get ready for the smut.

    http://www.nationalenquirer.com/sarah_palin_at_war_with_her_daughter_over_ pregnancy_wedding/celebrity/65370#

    PALIN WAR: TEEN PREGO CRISIS

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin attempted to quietly have her daughter Bristol get married before news of her pregnancy leaked out, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its new issue.
Palin planned for the wedding to take place right after the Republican National Convention and then she was going to announce the pregnancy.

But Bristol, 17, refused to go along with the plan and that sparked a mother-daughter showdown over the failed coverup.
The ultra-conservative governor's announcement about her daughter's pregnancy came hours after The ENQUIRER informed her representatives and family members of Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol's child, that we were aware of the pregnancy and were going to break the news.

In a preemptive strike Palin released the news, creating political shockwaves.
The ENQUIRER has also learned that Palin's family is embroiled in a vicious war that is now exposing her darkest secrets, threatening to destroy her political career.

Palin's ongoing war with her ex brother-in-law Mike Wooten, a state trooper, has caused multiple sources to come forward with shocking allegations about the governor.    Details of those allegations, the family feud, and Palin's attempt to cover up her teen daughter's pregnancy are in the new issue of The ENQUIRER.

McCain Camp Knocks Down Enquirer's Palin Rumor

    (CBS)From CBS News' John Bentley:

(ST. PAUL, MINN.) - John McCain's campaign threatened legal action against the National Enquirer today for running a story about McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, allegedly having an affair with her husband's business partner.

"The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie," said McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt.

"The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it."

The Enquirer also alleges that Palin unjustly fired a public safety official while she was governor of Alaska, but the story is based entirely on unnamed sources. The Enquirer has also paid sources in the past to speak with them, something mainstream media outlets do not do.

"Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin look forward to discussing the issues that Americans care about, fixing broken government, creating jobs, making our country energy independent and securing the peace for the next generation by bringing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to a victorious end," said Schmidt.

"Legal action will be considered with regard to this disgraceful smear."

If the media makes a big deal out of this I'll be truly angry (that's a nice word).  When Edwards had his "little" affair the media didn't pick it up.  They let it go.  Let's see what happens with this one.

    Suz,

How lucky can one gal be?  I'd love to be there.  You never know about the daughters, maybe another dynasty is born.

There was a reason why I'm recommending trying to see Newt's breakfast speech.  Someone asked him a question: Would Hillary have taken the Veep's job if she was asked to?

Newt's reply was that she would have had to.  In the past when this has happened, two candidates being this close, when the winning candidate didn't ask the other to be the Veep, he went on to lose the election.  He said, Obama showed fear about the Clinton's and that's never good in an election.  The President can decide what the role of Veep will be so he could have sent her & Bill to Alaska to live out the 4 years if he chose to.  But instead, he minimized her voters which won't be good for him in the long run.   He also said they probably could have won this thing together but not apart.  I paraphrased but it's mostly there.  I hope history repeats itself one more time.

    Page 50, it's party time...open the champagne!

    GO SARAH

I am proud to say that she is one of the only honest politicians I have ever met.  Just FYI, it was not a secret that her daughter was pregnant. She was living openly and was obviously pregnant.  Personally, I'm always sorry when a teen is pregnant but I think it has NO bearing on her mom being VP.

Deb, happy to see your post! I heard a Tlingit woman, born and bred in Alaska, rave about Sarah on talk radio. She said that Joe B wouldn't know what hit him!

DH was feeling very iffy today, but Rudy and Sarah's speeches reassured him. I do wish that the kids had already married, if that's the way they are handling this. I think the Enquirer should be ashamed, even if the mainstream media refused to pick up their exposure of the Edwards scandal. (Which has now disappeared?)

I hope LuAnn watched a little of the RNC; I saw all races and ages, and nary a horn or a tail or anyone waving a Bible. How did the party become so vilified for espousing personal responsibility? I share some beliefs with the Dems, but I am not defecting.

FYI: Chris M is insufferable on TV; in private, he reminds you of a golden retriever.........which may explain some things!Wink

I have enjoyed reading such intelligent comments from ALL you ladies around the country.

Isn't that what reformers do?  Fire people who don't do their jobs.  Her brother-in-law, ex?, tazered her nephew who was 10 years old.  For that alone he should have been fired.  If the person in charge wouldn't do it, then there's a problem with him.  Cronyism going on, sticking up for one of your own even though a crime took place, gee in the police dept... never.  Maybe she should have called for a hearing, or maybe they had one and still nothing was done.  We don't know the facts, but if my nephew was tazered, by his step-father, I would hope he'd wind up in jail for assault.

I flipped on CNN last night. They actually weren't too bad. Anderson Cooper looked like he had been sucking lemons, but they all agreed it was a well done speech. I did not even bother to look at MSNBC. I don't care what those morons thing.

I thought BillCristol looked like a proud papa. He was the first one to really start plugging Palin.

Suz, I may have to come up to Wisc. for that rally. I doubt that they will bother coming to Obamaland. They have already written off Illinois, but I still say they are going to be surprised at how close it is going to be here. This state went for Reagan. Yeah, he was a home boy, but he also had a message that we liked. We are still midwesterners at heart.

In other news, they are continuing to bus Chicago school students to the burbs to protest the lousy city schools. Why is no one giving this attention. These are the schools that Obama never did a think to fix as a city organizer, these are students he did nothing for as a member of the Ill legislator, these are students he has done nothing for as a US senator from Il. And yet he says he is going to improve education. Yeah right. He didn't do anything before and he won't change anything again. He is all talk and no action. And he can't blame Republicans in Ill., the dems have ALL the power. Why don't they look at his record here more carefully.

Page 49 and counting. . . Who will be the lucky page turner?
