I should call about a sign too ... I will have to tell them to see if they can make up my "Vote for a HERO not a ZERO!" sign.   Wouldn't that be a cool bumper sticker with the hand symbol!!!!

(There is an anti-drug slogan "Be a hero not a zero" so that's where I heard that phrase before")

    Go right ahead!!!!!

Oh and I saw this new slogan for the dems:   "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor."

Um, and they are mad that we refer to Obama as the Obamessiah?????   Hello!?????  Can you see how you blaspheme???  I'll tell you, if Obama could point his hand over our land and calm our winds and seas, if he could turn my pantry into an overflowing bounty and raise my sweet aunt up from the dead who died way too young at 19, I'd be voting for him, too.  But he can't.  And I won't vote for a man with ZERO experience!!!

Rocktobermom - I have borrowed your slogan for a sign we made for tomorrows rally here in Wisconsin. I saw the dems slogan too - that may not go over with a lot of people. Fitting since I think sometimes he thinks he is Jesus.

I thought McCain did a really good job - I think he will make a great president - willing to work with others to get things done - that is what we need!

Ladies, O'Reilly will have, I think, three more segments of Obama.  We need to watch it and spread the word.

Now, if I can only talk my dd into voting for McCain/Palin.  DD is very liberal.  She was on the fence until she heard Palin was too conservative.  She doesn't like Obama.  My dd is an attorney.  I told her to be prepared to be taxed.  And, what gets me is she doesn't have time to keep up with what's going on.  She's worried about a couple of social programs.  Makes me so mad because there's so much more to worry about.  I sent her Palin's speech and I think I'm going to send her McCain's too IF she'll take the time to watch it!

    Linda,

Yes, I did watch Elizabeth at the luncheon yesterday. And I got some dirt to dish that you must have heard, but all the others here might have missed.

Elizabeth said when Cindy was on the show, she came there with nothing, no demands whatever.  Michelle shows up and with her comes a long list of what they may not talk about.

Later on during another event at the convention, one of the Senators got up and told us about Obama's first day at the Senate during orientation.  It's an all day event.  9am he's there.  9:15 excuse me for a few minutes, he goes outside and can see the bright lights of camera's and he's giving an interview.  The Senator said this went on all day long, he had an interview scheduled for every hour.  A star was born.

But more telling,  the Senator who was speaking was the leader of Senate back then, and as we know all bills have to go through his office to come to the floor, he said the office is large so it can hold a lot of the Senators that will meet there to try to talk with one another to get a bi-partisan bill to pass.  To his memory, Obama was never in that office.  That's where they meet to cross the aisle.

And there we have it.  Considering he hasn't been in the Senate for the last 2 years while he was running, we'll no longer believe all we hear about Obama was the best at crossing the aisle.

Hi everyone.  We're all going to be burning the pages here now.

    Oh Shirley,

Do I have to watch him? Can't you just give us a full report?  I read that he again changed his mine about when we're leaving Iraq, but with all the hoopla going on, the press missed it, or buried it.  If O' asks him about Iraq and his timetable could you tell me?

Here's a place to get a yard sign with bumper sticker that will come off:

just have to ask.... aren't any of you women concerned about health insurance after bc?  I'm an independent. But I know which side cares about my medical future.  Ever tried to by health insurance on your own when you're healthy (no, not riding your husband's policy, or having your husband foot the bill)?   Not a pleasant experience either way. And Repubs don't care. jmo

What have the democrats promised you for health care?  The last I heard they are offering a gov't plan for kids only.

One of the reason's I support McCain is because he has a sensible health care reform program, not a pie in the sky socialist system, run by the government, which will just be more bureaucracy. His program is all about choices. My father, as a union member was forced to go to the company doctor, a quack who never even gave my step mother a pap test when she started having severe pains. To make a long story short, by the time she went to the hospital because it was so bad, she was terminal with cervical cancer, at age 36. I might add waiting to see this doctor usually took several hours. As I said, we had no choice, this was the union sanctioned doctor. Socialized medicine will be a disaster.

Here is a link to his program so you can read it yourself:

    http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/19ba2f1c-c03f-4ac2-8cd5-5cf2edb527cf.htm

As much as I am excited about JM and SP, boy will Cindy McCain be the bonus. Imagine how much she will do for America's image when she continues her work with issues around the world. She has been to Georgia, MO hasn't. She worked in Africa, MO has only visited. While they are still waiting for Obama to build that school in Kenya that he promised years ago, Cindy keeps going to Africa to help bring medicine and food. Cindy was in Rwanda when the genocide was happening. She is a doer not a talker. She will be the next Lady Di!

Stand Up to Cancer airs tonight. These things always make me suspicious, because we never know where the money will go and who is minding it. And I hate the way hollywood is always on the next bandwagon. Are they putting their money where their mouths are? I want to know how much each of them are giving before they will talk me into it.

My opinion...here goes:  I believe the Democrats think we live in Muppet land, and if we give everyone a warm and fuzzy hug all the evils of the world will go away.  WRONG AGAIN.  Be careful what you wish for.  In a perfect world sure, but this world never was and never will be perfect.  John McCain did a speech last night that was ANYTHING BUT underwhelming.  You need a President with his eyes wide open with no rose colored glasses.  Reality is not always easy to face, but if you dont face it you could easily have the rug pulled out from under you without realizing what just happened, then it's too late and your country becomes the victim. (Remember 9-11?) The Democrats complain about John McCain lowering taxes for business.  PEOPLE do you not want to have jobs come back to the USA? It's a no brainer.  And what about all the Democratic put downs against the Republicans, and let me say, there have been numerous. No one seems to be asking about that.

    -----------

Thought this was telling from Hot Air today:

    Oprah afraid of Palin?

    by Ed Morrissey

Perhaps the Carney meme of Sarah Palin being afraid of the media is a case of projection.  Drudge reports that Oprah Winfrey will not invite the first woman on a Republican ticket to be a guest on her show.  Why?  She’s apparently afraid of the damage it will do … to Barack Obama:

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider explains. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!

One might assume that, given Winfrey’s demographics.  The largest part of her audience is white females over 55 years of age.  Almost four times as many women watch as men, although she does get about 1.7 million men a day to view her show.

How will that audience react to a freeze-out of Palin?  Many want to see Palin speak to their issues, and might assume that the most successful woman in American entertainment would welcome the opportunity to make that introduction.  Instead of making a business decision to do so, though, Winfrey has apparently made a political calculation that Palin will outshine the man she supports for President.

Obviously, someone is afraid of what will happen when Palin meets the American people through the media.  From what I see, it’s not John McCain or Sarah Palin who fears it.

Poor Oprah.  Is she being sexist or racist?  Afterall, when watching and listening to The Empty Suit she cried her eyelashes off.  Why?  Because history was made?  Well, Palin is making history too.  And, I could care less what gender or what color of a candidate is..I care about their character, their policies...AND I DON'T WANT SOCIALISM!  OR HIGHER TAXES!  All of Empty Suit's (ES) CHANGE is just that, EMPTY!

Watch out, ladies.  More crap will be coming out about Palin.  THEY are after her. My dd, who is voting for McCain, sent me an email from a friend of hers.  Her friend is trying to change my dd's mind.  What REALLY makes me mad (yes, MAD..LIKE A DOG!,,see my LIPSTICK!) is the way they LIBERAL media has treated Obama...sickening! sickening!  Hannity was so correct when he talks about journalism going the H*LL in a handbasket (my words..not his).  Heck, journalism has been crappy for years.

Okay, I have stuff to do.

Hi, I've been boppin in and out on this thread for a while. I'm a registered Republican and consider myself to be conservative. My husband and I are fans of Glenn Beck, my husband more than I. He listens to his radio program every morning. This morning Glenn was talking about this artilce he found. I put the link below. I hope it works OK. Anyway I was wondering if anyone had seen this or heard of it before. I found it to be very frightening. If the link doesn't work I can copy and paste it for you. Please let me know what you think.

Shirley---I just recieved another unwanted e-mail from an Obama supporter (yes Shirley -you know) trying to paint Palin as an Anti-Semite because her pastor invited someone from "Jews for Jesus to speak a few weeks ago

Are these people are nuts????........ Do they really want to go there or make a comparison????????

    Noah Pollak at contentions writes:

"Must we take at face value the professed outrage of those who claim that conservatives should be as concerned about a Jew for Jesus in Sarah Palin's church as we are about Barack Obama in Jeremiah Wright's church? Put aside the obvious rebuttal, which is that Obama maintained a decades-long friendship with Wright, whereas Palin sat for perhaps an hour before a crank who was a perfect stranger to her and who she did not know would be in church that day"

"No, the reason why this hysteria falls so flat is because there is nothing substantive in the records or associations of McCain and Palin that should give anyone concerned about Jews or Israel's security the slightest pause. The people attempting to claim otherwise are doing so precisely because they know that Barack Obama has a problem in this area, and they would like it if McCain did as well. But the uncomfortable fact remains that Barack Obama maintained a 20-year relationship with a vile anti-Semite who hates Israel, and only ended it when it became politically scandalous not to do so. Among his advisers are people like Robert Malley, Daniel Kurtzer, and Samantha Power, whose opinions on how America should treat its allies and enemies differ substantially from those of, say, Randy Scheunemann. The idea that the McCain campaign's popularity among Jews is going to be damaged because Sarah Palin once accidentally ended up in church with someone from Jews for Jesus is ridiculous. "

I'm here to say nothing* nothing will take away the excitement I have for McCain

    and Palin.

This ticket is the "E" ticket to change in bloated government.

Change is the key word with John McCain and Sarah Palin at the wheel of change and stir.

I'm picking up my bumper stickers today.

Let me ask this.  If your a Jew for Jesus, is that something bad?  I listen to a Rabbi who is part of a Jewish Christian coalition.  I look forward to hearing him.  I like getting both sides of Bible teachings, not just the New Testament.

RIV54, I didn't know about the Saul Alinsky camp that the Obama's are promoting, but we do know that Obama has taught workshops using the radical Saul Alinsky teachings.

    Rosemary

It's the whole conversion thing that make Jews uncomfortable--Jews for Jesus was originally started with the idea of converting Jews to Christianity --Most Jews view Jews for Jesus as a mission to convert Jews but make it more acceptable, so that they can still call themselves a Jew. The way they aggressively and sometimes deceptively proselytize is troublesome to many Jews.

Two hot button issues with Jews are conversion and assimilation........

It's not old or new testament issues or being ecumenical..........Its Conversion - I really can't explain...... the gut feeling it evokes in Jews because It's something that goes back to the Spanish inquisition-- as well as the holocaust.

I saw the pictures of Palin with her family and "fiance" in the paper today.

I wonder if that young boy knew what he'd be getting into?

I've thought hard about her and decided that she's an improvement over Dick Cheney. For all the talk about change, Biden has been around forever.

As the health care - McCain is offering up a plan that mentions costs. The Democrats want to pay for everything with savings from preventive care. That's not going to happen

Nobody wants to pay more taxes, but I think that taxing health benefits is preferable to a big levy on ALL your income. Better to make small changes and move towards fair and universal coverage.

My only concern is that his plan does not address changes in the individual market for insurance. You can not expect people to buy insurance when companies work so hard to exclude those with health issues. If the Republicans would bite the bullet and say that the individual markets need fair rules and regulation I would be more satisfied.

Here is some of what went on the Chicago "news" today. First they are mentioning the MO has a rabbi in the family, heraldly her as part jewish. Pandering Pandering. Then the morning after McCain's speak, they are playing snippets of BO's rebuttal, but none of JM's speech at all. What no media bias? I'm shocked.

You are all invited to Chicago so that we can picket Harpo Studios. Notice that Oprah never interviewed Condi? It was one of my pet peeves! Then we can all walk down Michigan Avenue with our Vote for the Hero, not the Zero! signs. Rock, are you going to patent your slogan so you can make some money!

There is hope in Chitown. Last night a bunch of younguns were hanging out at some of the trendy bars around town, rooting for McCain. The 'hope and change generation is seeing the light". Since this is where my son lives, I hope that he catches some of the drift!

Before anyone starts to unload on Schokk, for those of you who do not know her, she is being facetious(sp)!!!!!

Susie, I just checked out the NYT link you put up. It is so much fun watching the elitists squirm. They are so mad! They just do not get it. Calling her uneducated because she is not Ivy League and making fun of her for dropping her "g's" which is making fun of the regional accents from other parts of the country and telling us that most Americans are dumb because we cannot afford to go to certain colleges. This just goes to show the elitists disdain for those who do not think like them, which is most of the country. It is going to backfire on them bigtime.I loved reading the comments. We need to invite those poor minority repbulican(anna and kelly) responders to our forum so they will not get lost among all those liberals. Here was my favorite comment:

    Susie,

It has nothing to do with being anti-Israel then?  Or being anti-semitic in any way?  Thanks for the explanation.

I was just awakened from a nice nap by Joe Biden blaming the republicans that unemployment is up to 6.1% today.  Might I remind everyone that we've had a democrat majority in both Houses this past year and since Jan. 2007, doing what exactly for job creation?  They could go back to work, the republicans are still waiting for them there.

I just got back from the McCain-Palin rally here in Wisconsin and Wow it was incredible. The gates opened at 8 a.m. I had to drop off my 11 yo at school so we got there by about 8:45. At that time there were thousands of people waiting to get in. They really needed a much larger venue - I think they were expecting about 8000 and there were many more than that. We stood in line until 10:45 and could not get in. We were able to see his motorcade drive by and caught a glimpse of him and Sarah in the Straight Talk Express bus - the crowd went wild. Loud boos were shouted when the press bus passed. We could not get close enough to really hear them  and my two dd were getting hungry so we left. On the way home they said on the radio that he had seen us (the crowd) standing there so on the way back he stopped the bus unexpectedly (which drove the Secret Service crazy as the crowd had not gone through metal detectors) and he and Cindy and Sarah got off the bus and shook hands with the crowd and signed autographs. I never dreamt he would do something like that or we definitely would have stayed. I carried a sign with Rocktobermoms slogan "Vote for the Hero and not the Zero" and several people asked if they could take my picture. It was a big hit - so Rocktober you may want to get that patent quick!  I was encouraged by how many young people were there and women. Lots of people carrying Democrats for McCain signs. I got a pin that says "Hot Chicks vote Republican" and a McCain-Palin 2008 pin.

Linda - you asked how I raised conservative kids and it got me thinking. Then it dawned on me. They lived in a third world country (Bangladesh) for six months. That was all it took for them to really appreciate everything that they have here. MO part Jewish? And this is only coming out now?

My dd took some pictures - I will try to post some later.

((((Linda)))) oh now come on........we can't fool them........they know who we are..........they read moveon.org and all "their" Democrat blogs..............they know we cling to our religions and guns........that we believe that you are either christen or terrorists..............that "our world" is black and white............there is no room for negotiations............there is no "compromise"...........you are either with us or against us...........never mind that we have a "woman" on our ticket and "they" had every opportunity to do the same...........oh wait a minute.........in "their world" black out weighs gender.............of course they could had both but instead their candidate went with the "old white guy".......that is probably one of the most Washington "insiders" that has ever existed..........I do ponder (as a stupid conservative) why Obama would have "change" as a theme for his run for Presidency and then choose a Washington insider that has a son that is one of the biggest Lobbyist in Washington.........hmmmmmm.........interesting tactic..............I suppose it is a move to confuse the right..............I am sure that there weren't any other vp prospects that had foreign policy experience............Shokk
