I've mostly had to stay away from the news the last couple days because it is making me crazy.
*Trump cares about no one, and nothing, but himself. Mitch is letting this all drag on because he DOES care deeply about holding the Senate and wants ti keep the base inflamed until the Georgia run-off is over. Mitch has done more to undermine the democratic institutions than anyone alive. When we should be coming together and healing, he and the other Republicans are sowing distrust of the whole process. They are despicable. As far as firing the career people and putting their lapdogs into key positions, it is very frightening to me. There is a glimmer of hope because they are, for the most part, very, very stupid.

Ruth---Hah-hah!
Looking at Trump at Arlington a few thoughts came to me......
He seems to be letting his hair go white.....the orange is down...maybe he's just said no to a visit to the salon as he broods in the residence....
I wonder if in his head here in front of the wreath he's thinking "I, too, am a wounded veteran! I, too, am a victim of cruel fate!"
They're saying that he's not uttered a public word in a week......
"Whew!" sighs the Universe! "Finally!"

Ugly draft dodger.... I think of all the men that were lost in Viet Nam, (many my classmates, lost their lives) and that piece of orange shit head....was doing the draft dodger dance....he makes me SICK!

Hello there,
I've been enjoying this thread since I joined the community.
My hubby is a 2 tour Vietnam Vet and these days, instead of LBJ, hubby's mantra is "Hey hey Donald J, how many Amercans you kill today?"
Thanks to you all for being here.
-
Second both of the messages above. I lost classmates in Vietnam and had several who returned home who sadly were never the same again. Their names are etched on the Wall for posterity. My DB is a Vietnam vet, Dad was a WWII vet as were 2 of his brothers and my nephew served in Iraq. So a proud family tradition.
Thank your loved ones for their service. They are the true heroes and that jackasss should not have saluted since he did not ever serve.

'Ohio has taken a different turn': Ohio no longer appears to be a swing state
Ohio is an overwhelmingly white working-class state, and the Appalachian parts are even further right than they were four years ago, one analyst said.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1247507
I came to the same assessment (above) last week about Ohio after seeing how it voted in this election. The saying used to be, “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation." Apparently, Biden's the 1st elected president without carrying Ohio since 1960. I have felt the switch in my gut. It's one reason I felt Ohio would not go for Hillary. Ohio is conflicted because many of its jobs adversely affect the environment. They are asked to choose between keeping its population working in the present vs concern for the future of the global climate. Also, these industry jobs are and always have been male-oriented like coal, steel, fracking and power plants, and men tend to lean more conservative. The women who support them have been conditioned to be submissive so many think as their husbands do. The Dems want to create other kinds of jobs for the region but Ohioans want to keep what they have. Republicans are anti-union which is also a conflict for these type of Ohio jobs, but the majority here seem to think The Rep party is a better choice.

Bernie Sanders confirms interest in becoming Biden's Labor secretary

"To win, Mr. Trump must prove systemic fraud, with illegal votes in the tens of thousands. There is no evidence of that so far. "Closing out this election will be a hard but necessary step toward restoring some unity and political equilibrium. Once his days in court are over, the president should do his part to unite the country by leading a peaceful transition and letting grievances go."
—Karl Rove, Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff
(When Karl Rove and I are on the same page, it's a strange new world.)
-
Ruth, as the saying goes, “Politics makes strange bedfellows." Am I saying you're in bed with Rove? Lol! Whelp.....maybe......haha! But then many of us would be there with ya!

I am concerned about any of the Dem senators taking cabinet positions. How do we know other Democrats will take their spot?
-
glennie, good point! ' cause we don't know...

I think if they have a dem gov, s/he would appoint another dem. A repugnant would replace with repugnant.

TheArt of Common Sense
Wilferd A. Peterson
Common sense is a personal compass for guidance around the rocks and shoals. Common sense is not based on theory; it is not a hypothesis. It is life acted out, it is discoveries made in the crucible of existence. It is the tried and tested experiences of humankind Common sense sits in judgment on the centuries, on every science, every religion, every art, every government. It is based on what has been proved true, sound and practical. Common sense is the voice of the ages. It is the distilled essence of what people have learned about life as expressed in the proverbs and maxims of all nations. "That person is happy who lives on his or her own labor," observed the Egyptian. "Just scale and full measure injure no person," recorded the Chinese. "Examine what is said and not who speaks," said the Arabian. "An idle brain is the devil's workshop," wrote the English. Common sense is pragmatic. It is what William James called "the cash value of an idea." It is a method that works, a truth that can be applied. Common sense is the common denominator of intelligence, the key to right answers. Common sense recognizes the utter senselessness of war, the irrationality of using death, suffering and destruction as a way of settling disputes.
Common sense observes that crime does not pay, that murder will be found out, that the law of compensation works relentlessly and cannot be escaped. Common sense is the rock on which every enduring institution and organization must be built. Common sense is the law of God written into the nature of the universe. It is the sum total of the workable findings of people in their long evolution toward the light. Common sense is dynamic, not static. It change as time goes on.
The art of common sense is applying the best wisdom we know today based on all our yesterdays. -

Trill: Was it you who recommended "A Place to Call Home"? If so, this series kept me diverted during the election hullabaloo and I just saw the last episode this evening. This was the tear jerker, but all-in-all a wonderful series. So thank you for recommending it. It was nice to escape to another world, not without its share of problems, but one where I was an observer rather than a participant.

Maybe if he would have been almost human we wouldn't have been forced to do such a horrible thing:
