2017 Running Thread

I did the Jacksonville Marine Corps half on 10/14 -- two weeks into a three-week session of rads! -- and I'm doing a 10-miler Halloween-themed run through a cemetery this Sunday, 10/29. If you want to put it in the first thread, it's called the EverGreen Pumpkin Run.
I have a virtual half that I need to finish to cap off a virtual series I signed up for in January, and I'll probably do that on 11/4 or 11/5. I have a hysterectomy scheduled for 11/8, which will knock me out of running for a couple of months, and I want to finish my series in 2017.

* Nightcrawler.. I added your races to the list
Nov 11th and 12th I did the Marvel races at Disneyland ( the last DisneyLAND races for a long while) and .. PR'ed BOTH!!! not even sure how that happened. It wasnt my goal on any level. the running weather was perfect, an amazing playlist , ooh and it helped only 7,500 people registered for the half and only 6,800 finished .. which means.. I totally had space. I was able to RUN my intervals not jog them. and to the surprise of my husband and myself.. I actually sped up during the race not slow down??? I can really only blame it on Mouse Magic. 2 things that happened on the half that NEVER has happened before.. 1. i stopped for a character photo ( had zero line) and 2. my zip up bra popped open (i was wearing a shirt) i thought about just leaving it but it was mile 2 or 3 .. so i pulled over and hid behind a cast member and zipped it back up LOLOL
In January we tackle our first full in disney world.. Im sure we will be in the back of the pack
id prefer a tad closer to the middle. so until then..

I’m scheduled to have a BMX with recon in two weeks, no chemo, no rads if we find it’s not invasive. Have only run indoor or the occasional 5K, nothing I would consider beast-mode. I was asked by my boss to run a half marathon scheduled in September 18. To those with experience, do you see it possible to start training by April? I have no idea what to expect for healing time. Recon should be a one and done - no expanders I hope since I”m going smaller. Thanks in advance!

Hi gang,
Panthrah mentioned her playlist being a great motivator. I am getting tired of the songs on mine and would love to add something new. Anyone willing to share? I’ll go first. Here is a screen shot of some of the songs on my playlist:

I ran the Philly half 11/18 before going in for my recon (replacing 2011 implant recon with DIEP) which was scheduled around the run. I am grateful for the health to be able to the Half and the DIEP is tomorrow!!!

stephincana.... Im not even sure I know those songs.. Im going to have to look them up
and as far as my playlist... well its was a lot of industrial / power noise and gothy 80s. all the kinds of songs that when they come on while your driving, you have to watch your speed
seemed to work and ill be adding to it.
LMichele.... how are you doing?

Hello Everyone. Your accomplishments are all an inspiration. I've tried running in the past, but never accomplished much. Have always been a big walker though. During treatment I walked / hiked trails 5-7 days a week. Near the end I started adding short runs into them and I mean short. Now that treatment is over I've been run / walking with a little more running each time. Yesterday I ran 2 miles without stopping on a local trail. I've never even ran a mile without stopping in the past. I find running is very therapeutic and helps me find some peace in all this crap. Happy running to all!
