KiwiKatMom, adorable! What a great story! You can tell how gentle a soul your husband is, just by that picture. Thanks for sharing!
-
Smaarty, yes, loving your fun thread. ^..^

Hi all, love this thread! As soon as I figure out how to upload a pic, will do so of my three babies. In the meantime, I have a practical question. Have any of you found a carpet that is cat tolerant? Mine seem to feel that the entire floor (up and down stairs) is an extension of their extensive cat trees (yes, multiple) ! I am to replace it once again and have not found one to stand up to them. Right now, short plush, before that berber. Help!
Fortunately, we live very rural and do not get strays here. That could be bad, very bad.....

KiwiCatMom, I read your wonderful story out loud to my husband and had a great laugh (because we can relate) as we pictured your feline family expanding
) Just loved the photo of Tom and Mittens snuggled in your husband's arms. My husband loves animals too, and like Ruth said those type of guys are definitely keepers!
Tomboy, what a beautiful painting of Lumpy. With the mix of colors you chose, my eye was drawn to sweet Lumpy. Such a special memento!
Teka, let the fun and games begin! This is the drama of daily life in the household with multiple cats
Moni, I was never able to solve the carpet problem and ended up going with laminate and ceramic tile throughout. We have one area rug in the living room and it needs replacing badly after just 3 years. It's hard to justify spending good money on a new one that I know will become a glorified scratching pad. Sigh. Would love to see your cat photos! To insert photos into your post, click on the square box with the two triangles inside (the big and little triangle are meant to look like a mountain I think). The box is in the bar above where you start typing your post. Hope I explained that ok lol!!

Keeping claws trimmed helps. I think a vet would have to do our cat's.
-
moni we found the perfect solution - wood floors
seriously, we put in wood and tile in our house because of our kitties. Now they claw the underside of the couches and mattresses. <_<
-
Re keeping claws trimmed you can buy a special clipper for cats claws but be careful, first some cats tolerate this, others need one of those zip up bags Wren posted about, second err on the conservative side because it is possible to cut a blood vessel if you trim a cat's claws too high.
Tomboy - Lumpy is beautiful, and what a fabulous painting.
Donna Dew re crazy cat ladies I am going to repost this wonderful piece of wit posted by OncoWarrior on another thread:
You have 16 cats, and they call you a "crazy cat lady."
You have 16 cats and 2 dogs, and you are an "animal lover."

Kiwi your Tom is the greatest!

This is Spike, a Tonkinese who just turned 8.
-
GAH I want to LIKE every pic!! Everytime someone posts i look for "Like" button. I LOVE couch cuddles !!
-
OOOOh, binx!!! And OOOOh, Spike!!! Sweet
-
-
We do need a like button. And a love button. Because I love them all. Binks looks a lot like a ragdoll I had years ago, so immediate "love" button for that. And a tonkanese - wow! He's beautiful. CAMommy - the racked out cat..too funny. And love the two tier crate system.
-
So enjoy coming back to this thread and seeing all the new photos, so precious these kitties!
Found some funnies...

Oreo the Exercise Cat lifting weights, although he much prefers yoga!
-
Hi Jennyblues and Spike!
Great photos everyone!
-
Moppet using her tail as a pillow
-
Orea is encouraging me to get back at the weights! But I'd way rather be doing what Moppet is doing
) I've been burning the candle at both ends lately.
Thought I would share some photos of some very nice cat beds that I found on the Etsy site. They are felted cat caves actually. So expensive! But then I saw a book on how to make them, that might be one of my winter projects.
These are the cat caves as seen on Etsy...
-
Cute! Although why do they usually prefer the cardboard box the cute bed came in?
-
Oh Terre, Moppet is so adorable! Love her. And the cat caves, love them. I don't have a cat anymore, but I may have to make some of those caves for friends. Love all the pics everyone, this is one of my favourite topics. GG
-
love all of the kitties! And some day I want a tortie.
-
Love the cat caves! Those are epic! The pic of Moppet was on my lap; the pink thing behind her is my giant slipper. They are like Ugg boots style wise, but are hot pink with glitter. And only $10! And lined with fake fur.
This is one of my favourite pics of Mittens. She's not distressed; she was concentrating and doing the butt wiggle, ready to pounce. But they kitten rescue place I volunteer with used it as a "distressed" kitten asking for donations.
Several people got quite upset and hoped that someone would rescue this poor horribly distressed and obviously abused kitty. The organisation had to explain that the biggest stress this baby gets is trying to decide which toy to play with.
