Blondie - we have eight. Rather pathetic....stereotypical nutty cat people.
-
Wish I cou have cats. Had two after being a dog person. Found out I'm allergic to them. Took the shots so we could keep them. Help feed the feral community to get my cat fix. They ARE interesting to observe.

Cute!

Remember the story I posted of the kitten found floating on the log and the kids hiked 4 km up a steep hill to get him to Kitten Inn? Here he is today...not quite big enough for adoption, but getting there!
They named him Woody.
-
And this is Gracie. Her mum took Woody in and nursed and cared for him. At first, Gracie and her siblings weren't quite sure about Woody, but now they're inseparable. I'm guessing there's a good chance they'll get adopted together.

I feel like I'm spamming the page with kittens, but they're so cute, I can't resist sharing!
-
Cats, cats, cats is the last thread I visit each day, so I can leave on a happy note. Keep the cuteness coming!
-
Kiwi - where should you be posting the kittens? Right here for other cat lovers to enjoy!
-
KiwiCatMom - you can't have enough kitten pictures!
I hope those cat moms get treats/breaks from time to time!
-
Kiwi, never stop posting kitten pictures! They are sooo cute!
-
Spam away Terre!! No problem on my end. I don't post often but I come here every single day to get my fix from the KI. Dee

I woke up this morning, took my coffee outside, and before I was quite awake, had my first visitor of the day! A black cat, with about eighteen random white hairs on one of her sides, I am saying her, because i think she is in heat- that must be how she got lost- very friendly and very slender, not skinny. I only had a saucer of milk to offer her, and some lunch turkey slices. I am trying to wait for my man to get up, and come meet her, then I will take some pictures and post them. She is a great head butter!
Part of me is hoping that she was looking for a home, it's like, one minute she was not there, and then the next she was! I was hoping she would not get bored with me, and leave before he could see her.
I already told her she was welcome to stay, and then she lay down next to my sneaker, and relaxed.
Sigh

Awww..so sweet Tomboy!
The momcats do get a break. They typically stay at Kitten Inn until they give birth, and then about a week after. Once everyone is sure the kittens are fit and healthy, they go into foster care. While they're at KI, they get cuddles when their cages get cleaned, so long as the momcats are willing. Some don't want to cuddle; they want to protect the babies. The kittens and momcat have a large dog crate that they stay in, just to keep them safe. The fosterers usually let the momcats have a few breaks during the day. When I fostered, I had them confined to one room and left the cage door open until the kittens were big enough to get out and explore. Then I rearranged things so they had a confined area and momcat could get away from them but still be in the same room. And once the kittens are weaned, the momcat gets spayed, vaccinated, chipped, etc., and the kittens stay in foster care until they're big enough for the same.

Okay, I know this is not a cat , but thought many of us could relate anyway!

The shelter's 24lb cat was adopted! It was a family with the man in a wheelchair. He wanted a cat that would lie down a lot. I hope he keeps her on her diet.

Hi. Ruth

Hi Blonde, cute new picture!
-
Great picture Blondie!
Glad the porky kitty was adopted!

WHat a lovely piece of news Wren. Years ago I used to do holiday cover in a Vets and Cattery. There was one very fat cat came in, fed on a really rich meat diet (not cat food, but butcher-bought meat) and although I knew it was not healthy for her to be so big I must admit I found her extra cuddliness very attractive!
-
TomBoy! I saw your lovely Autumn photo of a little gazebo shelter in Central Park over on the artists thread!!
Did the black cat stick around?
-
(waves hello from a noob to this list) I'm not quite sure where else to ask this: New Boy Cat (recently acquired sibling of Established Girl Cat) has discovered the joys of playing with and drinking from a dripping faucet. Any suggestions for an equivalent that doesn't require leaving a faucet dripping?
-
Hi Queenmomcat,
The Brown Cat has also recently discovered this joy. He always used to follow me into the bathroom, but now he does so with a purpose. I turn it on for him while I am in there and turn it off when I leave. So I limit his access. If this bothers you, you could try getting your kitty a Drinkwell fountain. I got one for the other two cats before the Brown Cat, but they did not like it.

Hi Queenmomcat someone posted earlier on this thread that the automatic step-on drinking bowl was a big success with her cat. You should find it if you go backwards on the thread, there was a picture.
Our cat was a stray before he came to us and he occasionally shows his "street cat" side by drinking from somewhere WORSE (toilet bowl) we have had to become vigilant about putting the lid down.
-
FF, I have a photo of Squeakers drinking out of the toilet when he was a foster cat. He loved to drink from a dripping faucet. When he was returned and we adopted him, we pretended we've never heard of a cat drinking from a faucet and didn't start again.
Our foster cat went to the vet today to be sedated for x-rays so he couldn't have food. You could tell from the look on his face when we took the food dishes out of his crate that it was the worst thing he could even imagine.
