Well, the drug-o-sphere giveth (free Prolia!) and the drug-o-sphere taketh away. Picked up my letrozole Rx tonight along with some matzo ball soup. Good news is that my co-pay is still only nine bucks. Bad news is that my little standalone pharmacy/kosher deli could get me neither Roxane nor Teva this month—all the distributor had was Accord and Femara (with the latter most certainly costing 100x more than the generic—that’s not $100 more, but 100 times more). Not sure about others’ experiences with Accord; I guess what I’ll do is give it a week and if the SEs increase I’ll have to dip into my Canadian-purchased Novartis UK Femara stash until Roxane & Teva are available once more.
Tomorrow night’s my monthly support group meeting. Usually I’m the one who talks too much, but last month we had a new member who gave my motor mouth a much-needed rest. She bragged about her ability to squeeze a dollar till George Washington poops (my metaphor). When I got a compliment on my new blue tortoise Warby Parker glasses (photochromic), and I mentioned they were half the price of my previous less-fashionable specs with the same features at Lens Crafters, the new gal said “I can go you one better: Zenni Optical.” She pulled out a little rectangular pair of lime-green frames with faintly turquoise lenses: $6.95 including single-vision lenses plus $5 for the tint. I asked if they were progressives and she said no—but their progressives are only $30 extra. So of course, I had to check the website when I got home.
I now have three pair of cute progressives (not photochromic—it was $100 extra, just as much as at Warby Parker, and I keep pop-over shades in the car, and in my purse is a little dark-tinted insert that drops in between my eyes & my glasses, both given to me by my ophthalmologist). One each purple & green Wayfarer-shape and a cranberry cat-eye. All three combined were cheaper than a pair of progressive Warbys without photochromics. I went out and bought a covered display case tray for my wardrobe of glasses.
So it’s all the new gal’s fault.

Octo ..Looking forward to hearing from you. !!!
Tomboy ..Thinking of you and your Mum ..

Hugs to all!!!!!
Need a hug myself after reading an email my niece sent me about something she is going through some difficult times right now. So I emailed her back and told her what my feelings on it was in my typical wise old auntie fashion. After I sent it to her I started crying and haven't stopped. She and her brothers are all I have left of my older sister and I hope what I told her will help. I wanted her to know that I support her and want only the best for her and I also told her that her mom would want nothing but the best for her! I sure hope it helped.
-
Mommyof2: then hugs you shall have, with maybe a few left over for your niece. I'm hoping/guessing that it did, based on my own experience with aunts.

ok so sandy, gonna check out you website for glasses later today. Heading to gym this morning, the ladies of the aqua glass are doing there monthly luncheon. I have had a lot of folks asking me if i was going and i am sure many have lots of questions. I have been reluctant to expose myself to all the questions and opinions but last night i seem to have gotten my head screwed on again so now looking forward to it really.
Also spending time daydreaming about vacations, one pal wants to do a royal Caribbean cruise and not sure about that. Looking for something more on my bucket list. It sure is fun checking out, vacations again
Hmmmm funky glasses........,may look into

I never had any SE's from Zometa, but had some weird ones from Prolia. They were not even close to the SE's from Neulasta. I was fatigued and achy, like a mild flu, I could not use my ear buds for a couple days, and irritability level was off the the charts. Other than that....
Happy to hear from you TomboySorry things are not well with your mom.
Love the sign, the pot pie, the cookies, Yosemite....all the pictures! Miss our food porn. Waving to Sula in the hopes she feels the greeting!
That is a rock we found while riding out near some abandoned mines here in AZ. The blue is Chrysocolla and this piece reminds me of a slice of birthday cake. We met a miner and his girlfriend while rock hounding. We followed them up to a very large and old, abandoned mine site. It was truly a beautiful area. However, my vertigo-like issues with "infinity pool" edges, has been on high alert. When it was time to leave, I had a panic attack and hiked down 2 miles to be able to sit in the side-by-side for the final 6 miles out. Not quite the day we had planned, but...I was able to hike 2 miles...
Have a good day my crazies...love to you all.

and damn....I missed a whole page of posts...
I know you all weren't just posting and I was on the last page, according to my phone and Safari.
Waving to everyone I missed.

QMC, it helped a lot. She was so happy that I am behind her 100%. She told me that she cried when she saw my response to her initial email.
-
Hi Everyone. Love reading your posts.
((Mommy))
I so tired, but at least I'm not coughing as much. I've missed all of my kids band concerts and hope to be well enough to attend tomorrow's Festival competition.
I miss Beppy, too.
Tomboy, I'm sorry about your mom. I'm thinking about you!

(((Tomboy))) (((M0mmy))) (((Poppy))) Robin, two miles is great. Beautiful picture of the rocks. I am on day three of consecutive migraines. I finally put a call in to MO. Haven't heard back yet. Stayed home today to avoid the bright sun. Hugs to everyone else.
M0mmy, my oldest sister is gone too. I dote on my niece's kids, My sister's grandchildren, because I want them to know our family loves them too. Unfortunately they live in Oklahoma.
-
My sister's kids are spread out too. But at least I have a way to keep in touch with them and advise them as my sister would have
-
Mommy and Molly ..You would both be such a blessing to your sister's children. ..Every one needs a "mumsy ear "to talk to at times ...
Poppy ..Sorry your still so tired ...and that you've missed events in your children lives .Sometimes the cough can hang on for what seems forever !!!
I miss Beppy too 😞
Molly ..How awful that you still have migraines ..I hope your MO can sort the problem out quickly for you .
Robin ..Always lovely to see you ..I miss you when you're not here. !!!
-
Thank you, Lucy. I got a message from MO to see my pcp. Rather disappointed that he never takes me seriously. I see my pcp next week for surgery clearance. If I keep having them I might end up in the ER.
-
Thanks Lucy. I feel as if I was a second Mom to my sister's kids as I babysat for them many times. They often turned to me to talk to when they needed help with something and my sister and BIL were busy. I always told them that I was there if they needed to talk and they found it too difficult for them to talk to their parents.
-
Hi Good morning all. I wanted to thank you all for welcoming me back so warmly, it makes those cockles of my heart warm so nicely! I do read, and see how you all are doing, but I was doing that right before bed, and just didn't post. We can hope for a much better spring, where maybe some of our problems may go away or get resolved.
I can't imagine migraines at all, Molly, with all you do. when I get back, maybe I could come see you at your house, so you don't have to add any travel time, how would that be?
Ok I am off in about three hours, and still lots to do. I am going to stay at my niece's house, with her and her husband, one cat and two dogs. She generously also offered to let me drive her to work, so I could use her car. It will be really nice to spend time with her!
My mother was asking me last night, "why don't you come when I get out".... Well, mom, because I don't know when you will get out. What I didn't remind her of, is before she was put in the hospital, i would call her at home, and when I mentioned maybe I should come see her, she repeatedly asked me to wait when she felt better. !!! When in reality, she was getting worse and worse. I don't know how much she is in denial about her health probs, but they certainly aren't going to let her out, till she does physical therapy and can at least walk a little..
So I will check back in here in a week, I'm not taking my computer this time, not sure, I think my niece has an IPad.
Love to all

Have a wonderful trip, Tomboy. Yes, yes, yes to your question about visiting!
-
As soon as my Apr. 29 awards dinner date is confirmed, we need to have a SoCal get-together!
-
Hello to All! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone I know and getting to know everyone that may be new here. I've been gone for way to long!
Molly, I'm sorry to hear of your migraines. I've only had 2 myself and I can't imagine how you get all you do done with such excruciating pain! I hear you on getting the meds we need. I was able to drive 5 miles to CVS to get my meds, but they've dropped our insurance so now I have to drive 30 mins to pick my meds up. I wonder what the new healthplan will have in store for us.
Tomboy, I hope your mom gets better soon. I hope you take time to relax and have a wonderful trip!
M0mmyof2, I'm glad you're able to be a big part of your sister's kids lives. You're such a wonderful auntie!
Back to reading and catching up! Hugs to All!

Hi everyone!
I have been laying low, but reading along. I finally was able to get an appointment at the end of the month to see a psychologist at the university away who specializes in cancer patients. Yes, it's that bad. If he can help, I'll plan on making the two hour round trip out there periodically. I'm hoping maybe we can setup every other week appointments, and then I'll have to approach my employer about taking half days off for these appointments. I normally never use my vacation. On the other hand, I was gone a lot during surgery recovery and radiation appointments, and it seems like I have endless followups with my various doctors, so they may be tired of me being out.
-
Cubbie, I'm so sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I'm praying you'll be able to make arrangements to get the half days off you need. This is part of your recovery! I hope there are safeguards in place for situations such as yours. I'll be praying and keeping my fingers crossed everything goes your way 🙏🤞

Cubbie ..After diagnosis I was a wreck ..still am ..but I was much worse then ..and my doctor sent me to one of The Cancer Council phycologist , who I saw every 2 weeks for about 6 months ..Seeing her really has helped me ..not only did she suggest " mindful thinking " etc but it was nice to have someone ( other than family or friends ) to tell how I was really feeling ...The other thing that helped me was finding a passion for gardening ..It helped me move my mind ( sometimes )from my health problems to something I find exciting , fun and rewarding ..Sending hugs ..
Molly ..How are you ? Have your migraines let up. ??? How is Wyatt. ?
Lori ..Hi ..
-
Hi Lucy, I found that gardening really helped me too. The weeds took over once I had my DBMX. I did get enough green tomatoes in the Fall to make my green tomato salsa to give out at Christmas. This year I'm trying the straw bale garden method. Wish me luck

Our monthly BC support group does a lot to help us deal with what we're going through by sharing experiences and venting. This past month's was attended by one of the cancer center system's social workers, which was even more enlightening.
-
Cubbie, That sounds like a wonderful plan. Many cancer patients have PTSD or depression. I think it would be a big help to talk to someone about how you feel, what you are experiencing. I find myself editing my words when talking to my DH about what I'm thinking. He's all rainbow and unicorns and I'm scared and grouchy.
Tomorrow I go in for the biopsy of my thyroid. I'm scared because I know how bad things can get. I'm tired of all of the poking, prodding and testing. Not thinking too much about the results; just dreading the procedure at this point.
-
i went to a psychologist that i had spoken wwith many years ago. Unfortunately he really did not understand the cancer thing. When i told him of my reoccurance and that they gave me a new set of meds with instructions to return in a month.......He said it must not be serious if not returning for a month. I tried to explain that they wanted to see my tolerance for the new drug but he did not get it at all.
