Congrats on the four years, Tomboy!
I met with my GP's nurse practitioner today, and we talked about how my mother's colon cancer affects my risk. On Monday I'll go to the gynecologist for my annual exam, and get to talk about how my cousins' history of endometrial cancer affects my risk for that. Tuesday it's back to the oncologist for another checkup. Talk about a tour.

Thankfully I am not working at the moment. Job prospects even for part-time is awful. A lot of people out of work and as soon as one job opens up, you get a ton of people applying for it
-
Thanks all for the well wishes. Thought I would stop by to tell you what happened this morning. I went in and get on the table and the ultrasound tech says 'So you are here because of the cyst on your liver?" I said "I guess so" so she does the ultrasound of my liver and then says "Even though the cyst is on your liver, they have requested a full abdominal ultrasound". So she proceeds to do kidneys, spleen, aorta, pancreas and gallbladder. I have just had the CT scan of my abdomen so I am pretty sure that will be all ok. I was just shocked that she said it was a cyst. I wish the doctor had said, "we think it is a cyst but it has grown and we just want to do the ultrasound to be sure" I know there is a chance that she could be wrong but I am going with it until/unless I hear otherwise! Positive thoughts and prayers to everyone else waiting on test results! Thanks
-
Welcome Sher, I hope all of these scans point of benign. Hugs everyone, I am doing great. I am only on Tylenol and have very little pain. Thanks for being in my pocket!!
-
Hi Molly glad you are feeling ok, staying in the pocket for you. Sher hoping for positive results. M0mmy02 it's so bad for jobs isn't it? we have job fairs and there are thousands for a few hundred jobs. so sad.
-
Molly, so glad to hear you are doing well this morning! and welcome to Sher and hugs to all!
The Mayor, her hubby and Katy and I had a bit of a party last night. Matzoh ball soup (my contribution), wine (several bottles I think) and chocolate chip cookies, courtesy of Mayor Slow's hubby, who clearly can bake. Who could ask for more? Ok, we had salad too, just to have something green. and birthday cake even though it isn't anyone's birthday. But that is a story for another day.
They are all still sleeping it off I think, while I drink coffee and check my email and pack up to head home to California. Will miss this place (Southern Oregon coast) and these people, but hope to do it again before too much time goes by!
See you all soon...
Love;
Octogirl
-
Octo, I didn't know you were going too. I'm glad to hear you guys had a good time.
-
Molly, So happy for you that everything is great and Tylenol takes care of the rest. Hope it continues that way.
Octo, I knew you all would have a great time. Wonderful people you all are. Safe travels home. It's mighty hot here. Stop every hour for some ice tea, extra ice. DH and I want to go up the coast in late Sept or early Oct, maybe we can get as far as Katy's.
Sher, Positive thoughts that your results show nothing of interest.
Guess the whole nation is in the red-hot weather zone. A good weekend to stay indoors and get comfy with netflix.
-
Octo.. Sounds like such fun 😃
Molly.. Great news !!!
Sher.. Welcome.!!
-
Val, it is horrible to try and find a job here. I tried off and on for a while, but no one is hiring or if they are they want people who are as dumb as a stump. God forbid you have a college degree, they want you to lie on your application and say you have never been to college because then you are considered to be overqualified for the job.
-
Molly, Thanks for the update. I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well.
Octogirl, It sounds like you had/are having a great time!
The job situation stinks.
All these scans and waiting are a direct ticket to Crazy Town.
-
Yep, it does
-
gee, i keep having ct fall of of my favorites and then wonder why I do not see any posts
Dumbo here I guess
Feeling stressed about all these mri things of my back so definitely in crazy time
I agree about nasty job outlooks, i am glad I was able to retire and did need to look for a job when my old company went deep 6
Hot here and just trying to keep up on water

Molly.....no bathroom problems with coq10
Tomboy.....good article, but didn't you think very controversial ......even after the conclusion I couldn't figure out what the hell I had read.......will look into it further, these studies only confuse me more LOL..but then again that is not hard to do.........thanks for the info........I had a Heart attack, so they do recommend it for people in that respect ...........so who the hell knows............it does help some with the pain that the AI has left me with since stopping it.............honestly I'm sorry I ever started it.......just had that conversation last night with someone........I know people who have taken it for years meaning the AI, and had recurrences, so I really belive it's a crap shoot..........some of us are luckier then others................ -
Tomboy....just read an article put out by the NCI, and the NHI......they say coq10 helps with a few types of cancer........lymphoma , breast, myeloma, etc................so take it for what it's worth................
It also said several years ago it was thought to be used as part of a cancer treatment.......and was first discovered in 1957.........
Conclusion..................I have no friggin idea......LOL........and there was even an article in Google done by BCO that says similar studies have shown it could benefit BC patients.........go figure.........
So ladies......draw your own conclusion...........it just seemed to help some of my aches and pains......which could also be from the statin drug......right................no clue.;......LOL
-
I love love love the idea of you four (with Bud) sitting around, eating matzoh ball soup, cookies, birthday cake, wine, and eh, a little bit of salad!
Molly, SO glad you're not having much pain.
Welcome Sher!
Cubbie, good luck on the grand tour of MDs. Oy.
Iris, hang in there. I hope you get some answers soon.
Greetings to all from under the heat dome--but then it sounds as if we're mostly all under the heat dome. Brutal. DH at church and DS off tutoring someone in algebra. Laundry started, and I'm about to do a bit of work. For later on: I have cantaloupe, watermelon, nectarines, and blueberries. Oh, and fresh mint. What do they spell? Fruit salad!
And some tomato porn. With the exception of a couple of the red ones, all are from my fire escape garden! Stay cool, everyone.
-
Hi ladies. I have a CT and bone scan tomorrow and PET on Wednesday. I am 9 1/2 years out and my tumor markers went up. I am having horrible pain in my neck, radiating to my left arm, to the point that I almost can't use that arm at all because it feels like I am pinching a nerve every time I move. I'm using Lortab for that, but it still hurts even with the Lortab. Am concerned, my markers went up considerably and they have been rock steady for all of these years.
-
ducky, if the coq10 helps you then do it is my thought, never felt any dif when I took it for a time
My primary doc just gave me script for nuero tin but reading the side effects has me reluctant to take it, i took for a time years ago and thought it made me sleepy I really do not need that and may stay the foot cream I found at whole Foods
Yeah, really counting the days till I see the nuerologist next week, then again I see my old phsyc guy this week and he reminded me he is a skeptic about meds so should be interesting, he does not give opinions but manages to get me to think things out on my own,,

Hi. sitting at home miserable as ever. I've been having stomach problems for a couple of months. Went to see GI Doctor and she put me on antibiotics for two weeks. Did nothing. Put on another round...this time Doxycycline for ten days and finally got relief when they were almost finished. Had relief for about a week. Stomach started hurting again a week ago Monday. I'm scheduled to now get a colonoscopy on the 26th. I'm scared to death. I forgot to mention that I did have a CAT scan a few weeks back which was clear except for "likely benign adenomas". I will finish this on another post. My iPad is so slow and I'm afraid I'm going to lose this
-
I have lost a bit of weight. But all of this stomach crap when I was trying to wean off the Lexapro. Katy had mentioned that to me. Anyway, taking the antibiotics made me hardly have an appetite and that concerned me a bit. Now if I eat 500 calories a day, that is a lot. So ladies, please jump in because I'm afraid of this crap coming back in the form of colon cancer. So very tired of it all😔
I'm sorry if I have already told this story earlier. Beppy I'm holding onto Keiko so tight...
-
Gracie.. Hi.. In your pocket for your scans this week.. and praying for great results for you.. I know it's so hard waiting for these tests and results.. (( Hugs.))
Shorfi (( Hugs)) .. Sorry you are going through this 😞 Are you going to have a colonoscopy? I had one last year.. and apart from the prep it really isn't that bad..
Rainny.. Those tomotatoes look so yummy.!!
-
((((((shorfi)))) Hope there is a good explanation that doesn't involve more crap. Sorry you are going through this!
((((GracieM)))) Hoping for clear scans for you also! In your pocket! Please keep us posted!
Rainny, pretty impressive for a fire escape crop!
I am back home. Came home to find that hubby had cleaned the kitchen and had some chicken marinating to grill tonight. I rewarded him with some of our Mayor's hubby's chocolate chip cookies. They are still great on day three!
Beppy, I hope you have an uneventful trip home! xoxox
xoxox to all of you!
Octogirl
-
Thinking of you shorfi. xx
-
Octo, So good to hear you are home safe and sound AND a clean kitchen AND food ready to grill! Now we just need to hear that Beppy makes it home safely, too. I can just see them peeling rubber down the 5. I need to get that c c cookie recipe.
Shorfi, Thinking of you. In your pocket.
Gracie, Thinking of you, too. Hope they find a magic pill to fix you up quick and simple.
We're trying to stay cool in the house (it's 99 here in the mountains) and not burn up. Wildfires just get too close too often. Thursday we were on evacuation advisory for too long of a time. We were never in any immediate danger that time, but........ We always sit down and talk about what to grab if we get the mandatory notice. I was getting my hair cut Thursday when the owner of the shop got a telephone notification that her neighborhood was mandatory. She flew out the door, leaving her client standing there. Would have been funny if not so serious.
-
shorfi sorry about the tummy issues and sure do hope it is something fixable, dang but you have enough junk
Keeping cool witj windows and all closed and ac running full time
-
I have heat induced tourettes, so don't call me, all you will hear is a bunch a cussing
Ducky, those things confuse me too, i can always find papers for and against stuff. For now, I am going to try them again for a month, to see if they help. Love you
-
((((Shorfi and Gracie))))
-
Gracie and shorfi, in your pocket. Beppy safe travels home. Sounds like a visit. If not for the drain I would probably return to work in a few days. I am shocked at how good I feel. I hope it continues with fills. I will probably have the drain in until 8/3 because that's my post op appointment. BS told my kids no sign of cancer!! I should have the pathology back next week.
-
Molly, sounds like a good result but don't push it and naps are encouraged
-
I second the naps recommendation!
