Pet scan tomorrow.  Get mine in a semi trailer as neither local hospital has a machine.  Yuck.  Last time got in a very upsetting conversation about "Obamacare" with tech/nurse(?) who administers radioactive juice.  How unprofessional is that?  Radiologist report actually called out "increased glottis activity probably due to mild talking during uptake".

Just dreading seeing that woman again and sitting in the little room all alone, though now I understand why.

Does anyone else feel generally unwell for a while after their PET?  Not sure if it's all in my head, but it seems like I get kind of shaky for a while afterwards.  Definitely make sure I keep hydrated after scan to try and flush that crud out!

Best wishes to you too Jobur.  I need to sit by myself in a cubicle for an hour before the scan, it gives a lot of time to go crazy.

    Jobur,

Given the fact that you haven't eaten for at least 6 hours, feeling shaky sounds par for the course. At my medical center, I get tucked into a bed and am given warm blankets. They turn out the lights and I take a nice nap, no talking allowed! After the scan, I eat immediately and if it's the morning, I must have a good, strong coffee. Funny how every center is different.

Jobur - I always feel unwell after scans, but probably because I'm allergic to dyes and always have to pre-med on steroids and benadryl. The dyes still make me feel nauseous tho. I used to be able to go shopping after scans, but no longer. I just want to go home and lay down. Oh well. Could be worse.

Scan is done, back at home swilling water like crazy!  Thanks to everyone for your good wishes and prayers.  Must have helped as it went more quickly and calmly than last time.  Now for the waiting game.  Don't see my mo until next week.

MusicLover, this time I brought a book and even remembered my reading glasses so I could actually read it while I waited!  Simple thing, but it did help to make the time go by more quickly and keep me from thinking too much.  Will keep you in my thoughts tomorrow.  How long do you have to wait for your results?

Mrs. M, how are you and how are you adjusting to retirement?  I hope you are enjoying the freedom of deciding what to do each day and filling those days with things you enjoy!

Penny, that must be rough being allergic to the dyes when we have to get so many scans.  Yeah, it could always be worse... or better!  Sounds like you have at least found some meds to help you through.

Linda, fingers crossed you get excellent results today.

LindaE, Sandy, and AnnieO, Thanks for the prayers and hugs!  Right back at you.  Hope you are having a good day today.

Caryn, what a great thread you started here.  Thanks!

Jobur, I'm so glad that it went smoothly.  I do need to bring something with me to occupy the time, one time the nurse caught me reading the bible (it was in the cancer center) and she yelled at me - I didn't take offense, she was just saying something like don't be all doom and gloom.  I should know the results by Monday, maybe even Friday but probably Monday. I can get them online when they are completed. It sounds like you need to meet with your MO for the results?

    Not a scan, but...

UPenn tomorrow. If liver numbers are elevated due to chemo, than they "should" be lower since I had last week off. However, if they're higher, than it's "complicated". Something tells me they'll be higher. Sigh. Haven't had good news in so long. Thank The Lord I feel good.
