Woo hoo!  I'm so glad to hear your good news!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but assuming you won't be coming back here for a while (and who would?), did you ever have genetic testing?  I only ask because it might impact your screening timeline and methodologies for breast and other cancers.  The NIH is doing a big study on Li Fraumeni (P53) and you might qualify based on your history. A friend of mine is participating in a study there for DICER1 and she says they've been great. She travels from California to the DC area. I think the NIH picks up the costs. I just wanted to put that out there in case you're interested.

lekker, the cancer center I am going to is scheduling the genetic testing. The bc doctor wants a full panel of tests done not just brca tests. With all the cancer in my family history they want to check all possible mutations. Just waiting on their call with the apppoointment

    Survivor,

So glad you got good news!

I am also relieved to see genetic testing is being pursued. My family history includes 5 BC's, 1 colon, 2 melanomas, and one juvenile osteosarcoma. When I can afford my co pays I will pursue additional testing.

    ( tested - BRCA in 2002 diagnosed 2004)

    Knowledge is power.

    Many hugs,

    Marcia

it has been a while. Went to see the genetic counselor and doctor Monday. They were truthful and honest which did scare me. Breast cancer runs really high in my family as well as many other cancers. Now comes the hard part of waiting the three weeks for the results.
