... i  am glad to see that you get to go in sooner. and that doc that is mad at you because of family history? he should not be mad at you for any reason... unbelieveable....

my doctor was not mad me. My oncologist I had for bone cancer was upset with the breast doctor that I was seeing locally for postponing so long.  He was upset because with my family history and the reports this far quicker action was not taken.

I am honestly at my wits end. I just need to know. I can handle it if they tell me it's cancer, but all I'm getting is the reports don't look good or the reports don't look in my favor. I just need to know. The anxiety is getting to me.

I know at moffitt I will get some better answers

oh, i am sorry. i misunderstood. i am glad he is not mad at you! you are right. this is the nerve wracking kind of blankness that happens while you are waiting for tests, diagnosis, etc, but it is still not fair, you already had your share of cancer. when you know for sure, then you can be relieved if its all okay, and if it is not good news, then at least a plan can be formulated. i am so so sorry that you are living with the unknowing, that is very hard to do. can you get copies of all the tests, and especially the clinic notes from doctor's notes of each visit, are what i find to be veeeery interesting, as often they will write things down, that they do not share with you out loud. your primary care physician should have a copy made to give you, or, each place you visited should make you a copy of what they had. At least then you can know what they are thinking. i will be thinking of you, and for sure will be doing some well-wishing, on ya. hugs for you, kathe

thanks kathe. I do have copies of most of the reports. I need to pick up the discs to take with me Wednesday. Your comments also reminded me that I should contact my primary and get a copy of the last lab work that was done a couple weeks ago to take with me. This site has been an escape from all of this and the family that just doesn't understand

Survivor - I'm relieved to hear that you'll be seen soon.  Please let us know how it goes.

Kathec - I bet you're sick of this crap too!  Or are you going in for a colonoscopy because they're so much fun?  Seriously, what was your boyfriend thinking?  I know it's hard for the caregivers, but a little sensitivity goes a long way.  Maybe he just needed to let off some steam - does he have any support?  I hope he comes to his senses.  Good luck with the scope!

he doesn't really, his family is traditionally closed mouth about troubles. during the middle of my treatment, i DID call a mutual man friend of ours, and asked him to talk to my man, and it was good! i just left them alone, and i could see the relief on his face. its just i am not quite done with all of this, yeah, i am tired of it all too. plus he just. now. told me that when he saw a dr 2 years ago, when they felt his prostate, they encouraged him to do one, because they said he had polyps! polyps can be a serious matter! and i can't believe he just NOW told me! so now i feel like i HAVE to do a colonosopy, and tell him aw, it was nothing, cause i DO want him to go and get that checked out! no insurance till this year for him. thanks, lekker. i just want to be able to quit worrying.

Please let us know how it goes.  Have you had an mri before?  You will be face down for a breast mri and they will probably have to inject a contrast material into a vein.  If you are stressed about it and have someone to drive you, take a Xanax about an hour before the mri.  If you can't/don't want to take meds, I've found that keeping my eyes closed the entire time - even before going into the machine - prevents me from feeling claustrophobic. I bet that you're so relieved to finally get your mri that you won't have any problems!

I'm am relieved, totally. I know where I am going will have results within minutes. I have not had a breast MRI before but I have had mri's. Think I'm more nervous about a core needle biopsy

just got home from the cancer center. MRI and biopsy done today. While we do not have the results of biopsy the doctor is almost certain it is not cancer. She thinks the ultrasound people graded the results too high. The MRI was a bi rads 4a.  Will wait to see what pathology says but expecting same results

just a surgical biopsy, you should be pretty good to go in a few days. your body will tell you. and the team willl give you instructions, but please, take it as easy as you can, for as long as you can! let your body heal from the surgery, and the anaesthesia. i dont even know whats normal,anymore... but i will be sending you all my good thoughts for you on friday...

Everyone is different of course, but hopefully you will have a quick recovery.  Your surgeon should provide you with post-op instructions including but not limited to activity restrictions and what kind of bra to wear and for how long.  I had surgical biopsies at 17 and 29 and felt pretty good right away.  My lumpectomy with SNB (we already knew I had cancer at that point) was tougher but I still managed to bake and frost my daughter's birthday cake 3 days later and attended a friend's 40th birthday a few days after that.  And I'm not one of those "I'm so tough I don't need any help" types at all.  Since you're off school, just plan to rest for the 2 weeks after surgery and you can add back in activities as you feel like doing so.  Do you have anyone to help you with meals and/or cleaning?  You probably won't need it but you deserve some pampering after what you've been through.  I hope this surgery gives you a definitive all clear!

use ice packs frequently, take your pain meds as needed, take it easy on yourself for a few days, then you should be back in business! praying you get good benign results soon.
