curveball. Here's to low numbers, good scans, and hope -
I'll toast to that for you ladies facing evaluation! -
ditto! -
Good luck everyone xx -
hey, all. sorry i've been absent. i actually have been exercising. what i haven't been doing is eating reasonably. yesterday i posted a quote from Louis CK on facebook because this is where i've been lately. "The meal isn't over when I'm full. It's over when I hate myself."
I'm deciding to just accept myself as I am, fat and all, so I can stop beating myself up about how much I weigh and what I eat. That just makes it worse. The goal? Keep moving to stay fit. Fit is the deal. -
gritgirl - Lol on the Louis CK! I find myself eating and/or exercising in cycles - right now, in less of a "good" cycle due to the last of the skin cancer surgeries last Monday - no exercise, but trying to be a bit careful on the eating. I have decided that Scarlet O'Hara and I think alike - tomorrow is another day. -
I had my fourth taxol yesterday. My tumor marker results were in my health-system email this AM. CEA went down. Silly me, I didn't think of writing down the numbers, but the graph line is definitely sloping down. Hurray!
I didn't realize when I started, but I'm on a three-weeks-on-one-off regimen. This was supposed to be the week I skip but I got the OK from my local onc to do this week and skip next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, instead. The week off on my next cycle will be Christmas day. I don't know what will happen with New Years. Maybe if tumor markers are down again, Dr W will OK skipping 2 weeks--she suggested that this time so I imagine she'll be open to the idea. -
curveball - excellent! -
i think i will go tomorrow put on my workout clothes and do 15 min on treadmill and some stretching. feel strongest in am. started Abraxene and 5FU yesterday. feel fine. little tired.
hell i am eating what i want now. was all vegan and into kale before they found this shit onmy bones.
i desperately want to do the half marathon next oct in my hometown. i could go because of stupid mets. they refunded my money. but i want to do it. he said my tx would take year. we will see. will start with baby steps
good luck to all.
-
fran. I eat for health rather than cure. Enjoy your burgers. :-)
Curve ball. Great on the tumor markers.
Special k. I am scarlet O'Hara as well. -
i am scarlet too. I have watched that movie so much I swear I cant watch it nomo
-
Hi gritgirl
Another Scarlett here I loved the film even called my daughter Melanie, although during her teenage years she was a real Scarlett.
Exercise not good like you I am eating healthy with the occasional lapse well actually more than occasionally. I have always been big lady size ten feet etc not sure if sizing is the same over there. Now I feel I can't fight my size anymore I thought after all the stress re dx etc I would loose weight but the the little yellow pill has not helped.
I feel now that I must enjoy my life I will try to exercise appropriately but will not expect like gritgirl says to achieve the impossible just to stay as fit has I can.
Today I am of for a walk through the woods I love the crunchy sounds the leafs make underfoot. It is a glorious frosty and Sunny day.
Hugs to everyone

mara. That's the spirit. Do what we can but not expect the impossible. I won't be seeing size 10 again so why abuse myself about that. Walk, do my best to eat healthy, and enjoy.
I'm up for scans. Sure wish I could eat breakfast -
yikes its cold here in texas. got exercise clothes on. walked dog to mailbox n back
-
I went for lab work this morning it was already 80 degrees at 9:30 a.m., I keep waiting for it to get cold, but it doesn't seem to be happening - DD and DH are driving to Miami to drop off her boat and spend some time with her godfather - a two-time cancer survivor, then proceeding off to the Keys to stop at all the dolphin facilities and drop her resume/cover letters and meet the HR folks. That means I am dog-sitting this weekend, nobody to cook for or take care of - other than the doggy and myself - so I anticipate some bubble baths, reading, TV watching, shopping, etc. Will try to get a couple of walks in, and eat salad! -
sounds nice. 80 and waiting for cold weather.
we went to movies last night. it was maybe 60. got out and wind was blowing and it was like 40. brrr texas is cold.
did 15 on eliptical , abs done.
-
fredntan - Lol! The problem is that it is always 80! There is virtually no change of seasons and it becomes boring. The only difference is whether it is 80 and sunny or 80 and raining. I don't do well in the humidity so I like it better when it is cold - weird, I know. -
It's cold here in WA too--frost on the grass this morning and yesterday. I worked in the garden for an hour and a half. I am planning to incorporate a raingarden as part of my landscape. I'm following a set of planning steps in a book I got from the library and yesterday for one of them I traced my storm drain to its outfall, which in my case is at a small lake about a mile and a quarter from my house. That means I walked almost 2-1/2 miles. -
wow. Everyone has been moving. I got my scans and my herceptin infusion today. I'm exhausted. Going home to sleep. Glad to have it over -
Curveball......know what you mean about "nippy" here. I got to sneak in a run when I got back from a meeting. Just glorious viewing the sunset from Elliott Bay Park. Almost dark when I got back. I am thinking I will do a Seattle ride tomorrow as don't think there will be any ice here in the AM. I don't want to crash on black ice!!!
I am so loving seeing the snow on the mountain peaks. PLUS, I should be skiing in a couple of weeks or so. My favorite sport ever (not cold BTW....I am usually sweating buckets).
Good luck with your garden. Sounds glorious. - Claire -
gritgirl - keep us posted, take a rest! I did NOTHING today except go for some oncologist lab work and then did some laundry.
Claire - you are always so descriptive I feel like I am riding around in your pocket with you! -
curveball, a rain garden sounds lovely. Never heard of such a thing.
I'm so inspired by everyone's exercise particularly those going through tests and treatment. My meds cause intense fatigue but I am thankful it's not worse.
Gritgirl, I hope the wait for results hasn't been too bad. And I hope the results on Tuesday will be cause for thanksgiving.
My 5k is Dec. 7. I'm running or walking at least 1 mile 5x a week. I'm such a baby about the cold and NC temps are dipping into the 20s. But I tell myself I'll run in my down coat if I have to!
I'm trying to cut down on dairy and found some coconut milk eggnog at Whole Foods. O. M. G. Y'all gotta try it.
Peace to all this Thanksgiving Week! -
SpecialK could you please tell me more about music to run to based on tempo?! I do run to music, but because I'm so scatterbrained I never think about getting or organizing the right music except when I head out the door and realize I have the same 15 songs. One song I love is "I Start to Run" by White Denim. But I can't run that for more than a couple mins. Reggae is more my speed, haha -
Good morning everyone
gritgirl just to let you know I am thinking of you today fingers crossed.
Hugs Mara -
hey all.
Tarheel there are tempo apps out there. I use fit radio
Got the scan results. Radiologicist sees a cyst on my liver and calls it progression. My liver readings and tumor markers are good.
Plan is pet scan and maybe biopsy. Plan to ask for second opinion reading of ct. Also going to suggest maybe ultrasound baseline and check again in two weeks. Is stress exercise? Because I'm getting it. -
gritgirl - sorry about the scan news, but hoping it is just a blip, and not any progression.
tarheel - google "running tempo apps" and a bunch will come up. -
thanks gritgirl and Special K for tips.
Gritgirl, I'm so sorry about the scan results. Especially around the holiday when everyone else seems carefree. But don't give up hope! Especially if your liver function looks good. 6 months ago my hometown onc. told me my cancer had spread to my liver and I needed to go on chemo RIGHT AWAY. I freaked out, cried for 2 weeks, then saw my MO at Sloan who did another scan and said my liver looked fine. There is a difference between diagnostic machines at hospitals and from now on we only scan at Sloan. I know this is tough. It might be bad news, but it might not. There are no critical decisions that need to be made now. Just more diagnostics. That's their job. Nurture hope. Take deep cleansing breaths. (I always say this with a touch of sarcasm because we all known it's easier said than done) ((hug)) ;-) -
hi gritgirl just to say I have a cyst on my liver and that is all It is a pparantely they often get picked up. As Tarheel says interpretations Are different from one onc to another please enjoy your holiday as much has you can and take care.
Mara x
Ps I do wish stress was exercise. I would be really skinney. -
had the PET scan this morning. Apparently there is enhancement on the liver and a spot on the rib. So I start Kadcyla next Friday and then scan again in 3 months. Very depressed. With a Ct and a PET scan, not sure I can deny it. Just know this sucks. -
((gritgirl)) I am sorry to hear about your scan results. I hope Kadcyla is hard on mets but easy on you.
