Brightsocks, hey! You survived and didn't throw up in your friend's car! And you feel better today. Very good. I forget where you're located but 2 weeks seems to a long time to wait and not be sure the results of your path report are in. At least the darned stuff is GONE! Feel better?? I thought so.
HUGS!!!
-
Molly50, thank you! They did not give me any instructions for the drain. Just saw the fine print on the take home sheet that says to strip the tube but I would not have known what that meant!
The good meds must have worn off--I know what everyone means by the drains pulling. Ouch. -
Brightsocks: so glad to hear your lump got served its eviction papers. And that you managed to, er, NOT muss your friend's car. Have you been able to hold anything down today?
-
Started running the dreaded 100.4 fever this evening. Talked to my MO, and she said I could go into the emergency room, or since I was on the 10th day, and things should start to be turning around, she could send out an antibiotic, and watch and see. I asked which she recommended, and she said the antibiotic. So I'm waiting for DH to get back from Walgreen's, and if the fever doesn't come back after about six hours, I'm good. If not, got to pack up and go to the ER. Dang! I thought things were getting better.
-
LTFly- Did Neulasta all 6 cycles..feel it REALLY made a difference for me! Will say, they gave it to me in the arm for first 4 and then, because I mentioned that it kind of hurt..the nurse suggested they try my belly...while I was sort of freaked out by that...it did not hurt at all.....had no idea that was the best thing for me....just saying this in case it is offered and you might want to try it.
-
brithael, hoping that fever goes down!
brightsocks, so good that your eviction was successful. Happy icing!!
-
I have not been sick today which is nice. They gave me 10mg of morphine and two t3s in about 10 mins when in recovery. The doctor did say that there are four different locations on our body that make us sick. The breast is one of those places.
-
Dammit, Brithael, that's not what you need. Hope the antibiotic kicks it out. I got somewhat red and slightly feverish (iirc) and went to the BS who prescribed an antibiotic. Worked like a charm. I'm sure it will for you, too. I was pleased. THE ONLY antibiotic I can take is okay if I have a glass of wine. Happy
Hurry and get that fever down and the infection gone!
HUGS!
-
Dammit, Britheal.....so sorry about the fever....flinging healing mercies your way...please keep us posted.
-
Brit, cooling thoughts headed your way!
-
sorry britheal.
Brightsocks glad it went okay. Be kind to yourself the next few days, I use and take pain relief as needed. Try to get that arm moving!
UPDATE: of course I was hoping I would just keep feeling mostly OK, and sail through four months of chemo with nothing to show for it but gorgeous wigs. A bit unrealistic I know. Around 4 PM I started feeling mildly queasy and achy and dizzy and it just kept increasing. I hit my absolute worst at 8 PM, queasy and dizzy and hot and cold and just miserable. Like food poisoning but nothing gross actually came out of me. I took a stemetil (prescription antinauseant) and started feeling better pretty quickly. I still don't feel awesome and refuse to even attempt at an upright position, but nowhere near as miserable as I did a little while ago. They said to only take the stemetil if I need it…I guess I do!
-
LTFly- I also took an Alleve and a Claritan for the first 4 days starting with each cycle....I was on Taxotere, Carbo, Herceptin and Perjeta....so, not sure which one(s) they had me doing that for but think it is worth asking about...also, did increase Vit D and took(take) a probiotic every day.

Dear Brithael:
Feel better!
Dear Molly:
You have been through the wringer. Thanks for all of your help here.
Dear ChiSandy and Peggy:
All I can say is that today is "Wine Wednesday". lol
Dear Gemma:
Good luck with your path report and I'm glad that the surgery went well.
Dear LovesToFly:
Feel well. One down.
Dear Musogirl:
You definitely earned your brownies and then some. Good luck with the drains.
Dear BrightSocks:
I love the "evicted tumor".
Dear JerseyRenee:
Good luck next week.
Dear Melclarity:
I was a teacher aid in a charter school that specialized in working with Autistic kids. I loved it too.
I don't even know how you are able to cope with the recurrence. That is awful. Thank God that your boyfriend is so supportive. How wonderful that your boyfriend was able to donate his kidney to his daughter. He sounds like a keeper. I'm glad that the two of you were lucky enough to find each other. I am glad that you are feeling better. You have had a really rough year.
I don't know how you will make your decision regarding the mx. I would write down questions and make sure that you are satisfied with the answers. Bring someone with you when you meet with your doctor. I am glad that you trust your doctor. That is extremely important. I am glad that he did the excisional biopsy and that your bc was found. (My biopsy showed a benign finding in my second lump-2nd time that this lump was biopsied and 2nd benign finding. I requested that this lump be removed at the same time as my surgery for my confirmed malignancy in my other lump. It turned out that the second lump was malignant as well. I am so glad that I opted to have it removed.) Do you want to go for a second opinion regarding having a mx?
You are a very strong woman. No matter what your decision, you should be very proud of yourself.
I hope that you continue to feel better. I am sending you prayers and hugs.
So many people are having surgery/chemo/radiation this week. I am sorry but I didn't remember all of the names. However, good luck and feel well.
Funny (sort of but not really) story. My cousin was recently dx with bc and she had just lost her job the week before - right before the holidays. Horrible week!. She was walking in NYC and a homeless man was begging. She said, "Sorry, I can't give you anything. I just lost my job and I have cancer." He said to her, "But you are so pretty!"
I guess that we are all pretty. We are all outstanding people. Thanks to all of you for all of the support.

New granddaughter today. That makes four grandkids . Wow. Four beautiful reasons to fight for my health. Wanted to share the good news with my lumpie friends.
And Muso make sure that drain has a vacuum in it or the fluid won't drain down
-
Jclc, congratulations on the new grandbaby.
HUGS!
-
LovestoFly: holds your head steady and brushes your hair back
-
JcLc....congrats on the new grand!!!
-
Thank you ladies. Feeling better now. I'm also glad to see that the PRN antinauseant they gave me works, I'm not a scared now and will make sure to take it at the first sign of queasiness until next time.
-
congrats jclc!!!!
-
Dear Jclc:
How wonderful. Congratulations. Enjoy your beautiful family.
-
Hugs to you, LTFly. Sorry about the fever, Brit. Jclc, another grand baby!! Congratulations!
-
queenmomcat thank you. Made me smile!
-
Brit, try the slow deep breathing to see if you can bring your fever down. I'd rather try that then end up in the hospital.
Got my port yesterday, was awake for the entirety. I was so worked up yesterday that I slept for 12 hours last night! My pre-chemo WBC is 2.4 and my ANC is 1800. Meet with the MO on Friday to hear the plaid attack and then start chems Monday or Tuesday.
-
LMV, glad you have that behind you. My prayers are with you for your chemo.
-
Jclc - Congrats on the new grandbaby!!! Wonderful!!
LMV - Great port is done, all the best for next week!
Loves to Fly - You're doing great! you're on it! stay ahead of the nausea, great thing is can call your oncology nurse for any concerns, and as you progress, they can tweak the meds to help as well which is really good.
Brithael and Brightsocks - Hope you both are feeling better!
614 - Through the worst of situations there is always a positive, God knows I had to find some last year. Shock comes to mind when thinking of the recurrence along with anger and a shit load of tears! I honestly dont know how I got through the last 6 months, but I did as would anyone, we all deal with what we're dealt, we dont know how on earth we will, but we rise to it and thats all you can do! My BF doesnt live with me, lives an hour away, so very difficult, so it was mostly just my kids and I and they were exceptional. I didnt have alot of support, My Dad was the big surprise...as much as I can't lie man I wanted my Mum! but my Dad took control (something he's never done) cooked, took my kids to and from school, did everything when I was out of it for a week at a time with the first infusion. I'm not thinking too far ahead anymore, I focus on my recovery, I feel blessed and happy and so the journey continues for us all. But I aint done by a long shot!!!
I have a good prognosis so praying it really is the road to recovery. Gosh when you say BF sounds like Im damn 20 and so is he haha! when I shaved my head I was upset, he walked into the bathroom and shaved his head too. Oh goodness love that story you told! bless than homeless man!
-
Thanks everyone!

1st day behind you LovestoFly... Congrats and glad to hear you're feeling better!
Great job on the eviction Brightsocks!
Had my first set of appts yesterday with 3 Drs. I'm going to b a busy girl! Today genetic testing n blood work, tomorrow full body CT Scan, Monday breast mri, Tuesday Dana farber all day for second opinions n waiting to hear when she schedules me for full body bone scan... At least they r very proactive n building case or no case after genetic testing comes back so we know which way to move forward. And this will all be done for my spot at Dana farber.
I really like all 3 Drs that I met yesterday at MGH. My family history has more than a few early cancers on my dads side hence the genetic testing. If it's positive, double mastectomy n chemo. If negative, lumpectomy or one mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy then they decide radiation or chemo depending on path report from those findings. No matter what I'll b on Tamoxifan every day for 5 years. Good times😁
They did feel one node but said its not crazy suspicious. But it is to me!!! We did schedule the lx and snb in 3 weeks in case genetic testing came back positive.
I'm still going to Dana Farber for second opinions Tuesday... But I really like the group I saw yesterday. If both opinions are for the same path of treatment... I guess I just go with who I feel more comfortable with.

I woke up feeling so much better this morning. I assumed/feared that I would wake up feeling really queasy since everything would have worn off, but not at all. A bit weak and shaking, kind of like after of mild flu or a bad sleep, but nothing horrible. I had no problem eating my breakfast or drinking coffee, and took my meds. The oncologist called me personally to check in with me, I told her what happened yesterday and she gave me shit for not taking the optional antinauseant as soon as I started feeling queasy. I know better now! My next appointment with her isn't for a couple weeks, but she confirmed that all my scans had come back clear and there is no sign of metastases beyond the lymph node. Kind of assumed that, since I hadn't heard anything, but I was good to hear for sure.
I'm conserving my energy, so that I will not have trouble going to and from the hospital for my shot this afternoon.
By the way, even though my husband went with me yesterday, I did all the driving ( i usually drive, I find that I get carsick as a passenger) and it was fine.
Anybody else got a huge source of pleasure with every Pee after chemo. All I can think of is that the medication is going down the toilet, and I will start feeling better and better!
-
LovesToFly: I'm glad you're feeling better. That' is so awesome that your oncologist called you. Mine never called me. Of course, I could call them any time but I wish we had more of that "old fashioned" medicine
But I must say that my BS and the radiologist did call me and even gave me their personal cell phone numbers. I thought that was nice.
-
Lovestofly, Melclarity's advice is the same as my infusion nurse's: stay ahead of the nausea. Glad you're feeling better today. Chemo really is like being pregnant all over again sometimes!
