Di that's so cute.
Phylomail, I guess the government has a lot to send u thru the mail.
-
Di how adorable is that...
GMA thinking of you
switching chemos to Adriamycin, it is not what the dr. want me to be on but medicare won't pay for halaven until I have gotten "the red devil"bbl later hope you all are ok...
-
I did 4 doses of the red devil and then 12 more of taxol. The red devil was no fun but my tumor shrunk about half so it did what they wanted it to do. Hope you do well even when it gets rough. I plan to have a red devil tattoo on my port site once I'm at the point that I can start tattooing. Hopefully the red devil will kick it in it's ass. That is why they used it on me they went for the hard stuff right off the bat. Good Luck and I will have hugs and good thoughts for you on this part of the journey.
-
Red devil shrunk my tumors from stage 4 to stage 3. Wasn't fun, but worth it. Be prepared for red pee!!!!! -
Oh that stupid Red Devil---One time I knew my girls would be at my house when I got home (they were cleaning) so when I went pee I didn't flush the toilet (on purpose) and my DD2 went in there called DD! and I could here them little buzzing what do we do, we've got to tell Mom Oh no, I WAS laffin. For some reason they didn't laugh when I told them. That's sad in the 2 yrs I had chemo that was my high spot. LOL
-
up since 5.......went to bed at 1am........4 hours just doesn't work.......cause I do not take naps.....long day today..
Gonna go make a LB cake for my grandaughter's birthday today.... -
Okay, okay. I did something really immature and petty this week.
So, some of you might know that I was let go from my magazine editor's job in 2011; after 17 years of service and on the same day my diagnosis was confirmed. In the pantheon of shitty days, that one ranks pretty high.
Well, the company, although much larger than it had been before a venture capital company bought it a few years ago, was still small enough so that such decisions were made by the CEO, who in this case came with the VC company.
On Monday, I saw a press release from the company that the very same CEO was being "transitioned" out of his job and replaced.
I couldn't resist and sent him an email:
"Dear (name withheld),
I see you're being 'transitioned' out of your job. I was transitioned once.
Bummer.
Hey, does this mean you have cancer, too?
With warmest regards,
Charles"
Yes, I know it was horrible. It was petty. It was downright immature. I admit it was quite small of me. I confess to all of that.
Still, it felt REALLY GOOD. -
You go Charles............don't ever STFU. I'm proud of you. -
You GO Charles! I don't blame you! I thought that was rather TAME, compared to what WE could have said!
Guess we all have met one of "those" people throughout our lives ..... It's like that old saying, what goes around, comes around.... Don't go around apologizing for what you said.... don't wimp out on us.... You spoke with your heart.... You were hurt, and not ONLY with your cancer diagnosis....
"Transition" is just a crappy word.... But it means "put your head between your legs"..... oh never mind.....
The same thing happened where I worked also.... A lot of employees came to work one day, were told to go to another building, and they were all informed that their jobs had been "eliminated". They were escorted back to their offices, and watched while they cleaned out their desk, and escorted off the property.
"Outsourced, Elimated, and Transitioned" all mean about the same thing...... Sorry about that..... -
Shell and Chevy,
That choice of the word "transitioned" was the one they chose to use in the press release. I just went ahead and ran with it.
I have to admit that I bounced back okay, largely due to the fact that I had earned a law degree while working for that company. Originally, I had wanted the degree to improve myself as a journalist, but WTF, I went ahead and ramped up my practice and we now have one of our community's best-known firms. Anyway, it all worked out.
Still, it was somewhat cathartic sending him a quick "fuck you" note, without actually saying "fuck you." -
Yes, be proud my man! You DID bounce back! Congratulations Sir Charles, on your successful business..! Give em' hell Tiger! -
Charles....good for you.......I worked for a Big Pharma.....15 years......our group was called in, told "you will be gone in 1 week".........no, sorry, I, yes, no, kiss my ass....that was it.......nata, zilch, nothing............the real truth is.....when they don't want you, they don't care......your no different then the furniture in your office when it's time to upgrade.....your tossed into the dumpster...........that goes from the best paying job, to the worst......only difference is......your Boss will get to collect a hefty pension, nice package, and sit home for a while and count his money......
I would have no problem telling him to go f--k himself, and the horse he is going to be riding out the door...LOL, LOL, LOL,
Proud of you Charlie baby.......YOU DONE GOOD.....LOL -
Charles Good for you and now for u'r success--u did the exact right thing and so gently--it was a great FU moment without even saying it--Love it and u do sound good which is the best news we can hear. Keep it up. (Shut up Chevy)
-
Chuck - STFU!!! As I read your post, first my eyes bugged out a little but then when I got to "Hey, does this mean you have cancer, too? With warmest regards, "
My coffee came out of my nose.
You're the BEST! Giant cajones are very attractive in a cancer patient.
Your bud, Peppermint Patty -
blondiehoney - you have been through so much crap that I am praying that this treatment is your friend. I had Adriamycin along with F & C- Hell, can't even remember....5-FU and something else. It was about the same as Taxol for me. I hope it's easy on you.
You have so much fortitude that I use you for a role model. I love you dearly and I've never even spoken to you.
Phyllips -
He did get back to me, by the way. He now denies knowing about the cancer, which is odd, because they canceled the face-to-face firing when word of my possible breast cancer diagnosis was passed up the chain of command the week before. They had a Vice president of sumpthinorother arrive in Colorado and then when they discussed the diagnosis, he got on a plane and flew back to San Diego. Instead, I was fired by phone and his HR manager knew about the diagnosis when she made the call that day. I still feel terrible for that woman ... but not so much for her boss.
I had 17 years of stellar performance reviews and was probably just making too much money by that time. Oh well. Life goes on.
At least I got that one off of my chest (so to speak)
-
Good for you Charles! It's interesting that transitioned is often used in obits. Sort of the same thing, when you lose your job, you lose a lot of your identity. And he was too big a coward to do it himself. Says a lot. -
Charles, good for you. I think your clients are very fortunate to have you represent them. -
Charles....he's a slug.....don't waste you brain cells even thinking about him.......use them for the greater good......and as far as him getting "CANNED" ( a city girl's way of saying it)......my Mama always said...."THE SUN DOESN'T ALWAYS SHINE ON ONE DOG'S ASS"
Hugs -
Sounds like another case of getting fired may have been a good thing. -
Hi There and THANKS so much for keeping this valuable thread moving right along. I moved recently and will start my new job on Monday in Fort Worth, TX. as a Registered Dietitian. -
Cami you are too funny...
Cindy AKA Squishy -
Charles I agree i is tame compared to what I would have said....proud of you and you know you are probably better off without that stupid company anyway, it is their loss....the cancer thing well we all have that...oh and you could have said fuck you...again i probably would.
flowers so nice to heard from you, wondered where you were...
cammie thanks for letting us know, I have to but don't feel like it maybe tomorrow, it hasn't been that long....
thanks for the info....it is purely an insurance issue and he said if it gets bad or when it gets bad he will switch it to havalen, all I have to do is do it...according the medicare....
-
hi all. agree with cami. hot water just the ticket. and then good smelling slathering stuff of all kinds. even if i will just get hot and bothered again. sometimes i think i just bathe, cause i want to smell good stuff. i am supposed to be painting some doors and windows, and i finally got swellspots and lymphema gear all on. o my god does the swell spot feel good on my chest..... lolling around drooling. -
You rock Charles! A few sayings come to mind. "Payback is hell." And, "what goes around comes around." I always add, may I live long enough to see it happen.
As one door closed on you another opened to much bigger, brighter and better things.
