Cami ....not you, many of us...... -
HI, sorry so late. Picked up report this afternoon. Every area of thyroid has increased in size. More cysts. Can't see any dramatic new addition from first report. 1. But My favorite Radiologist who for years always talked with me sent the me the message that he would prefer if I would talk with my doc about the results 2. there were several behavioural things about the technician that were suspicious i.e. over the top consoling at a given point. The easy out about talking with me was that he was too busy. I had laid the groundwork that I would understand if that were the case, I always do. The tech may be like that all the time. Some staff instead of being poker face about bad news, present as she did. AND my dear ENT doc is out till DEC 23rd. The bottom line agreement with ENT Doc after the bx was if this scan showed growth out the left would come. Since both sides showed growth, I.m guessing both sides will be coming out. At this point Jan looks like the target time. If it is cancerous I'll just deal with it.
Foley calling
-
Sorry! -
Foley, Left a message on your recorder, in case you don't catch it and read here. The mainstay drug used in withdrawal is Ativan.. Please, check in with your doc. Re: use & dose. Also, keep a check on your Blood pressure and heart rate. Both will go up depending on withdrawal response. Ask your doc at what point does he want you to do something.
-
Sas, so sorry, another bump in the road...damn
Di & Gma Foley, hoping Friday is a better day, & continuing to ease up over the weekend..
Di, the sutures seem like it would be scratchy, or really odd feeling
Cami, 444see, Ducky & Juliaana....I appreciate the LE info...need to have it measured & make a appt. with a PT...paying that deductible, for this year & 2014... I am learning that I need to be more vocal & in charge of my treatment...waiting for someone to come in and take charge. I did speak up & get a appt. with a genetist.... -
Hi holligans,
Sass thank u so much for checking insorry didn't call back I have was at work and got an admit near shift change and of course made everything crazy. So I was late getting out of work. Wanted to call but figured it would be way too late. Hugs ugh can't believe u have to wait to talk with the doctors... Hugs
Geeze the second I think I can catch up on some reading Austin has me off running around chasing my tail.... Haha it's weird how God gets u through things. Trying to get ready for Christmas inbetween work and watching Austin it is running me ragged. I scheduled my left mastectomy and bilateral reconstuction with latissimus flap on December 20th. It's was the only way to have help, lord know Tim's parents can't help me everyday. Wouldn't bother asking anyways. My little sister, Heidi, will be off for Xmas break and said she would help me with Austin since I can't lift him for a while... I am so nervous such a big surgery. But I am so over it all, I just want to be done. Ugh I hate knowing too much

Teka, Yes Mamam
Stacey, such good news, We will be with you on the 20th. With Austin, It' like where does all that energy come from.
Thanks Holeinone, Everyone on BCO has something to offer. There are a few though that have taken on extra study. There's a link on flying that I'll drop off. The most knowledgeable sisters about LE are Binney and Kira. They are a gold mine.
http://community.breastcancer.org/topic_post?forum_id=64&id=811841&page=1
Flatsy, same as Holeinone, lots of sisters have had deconstruction. There used to be a thread monitored by Kate33, but she's moved on with her life outside of BCO. Try a PM to Whippetmom--Deborah. She' the go to person on sizing, but gets lots of queries surrounding the whole breast issue.
-
Chevy, how are the Chicks. It's hard to fathom being that cold 16 below. If we get to external temp of 30 it's rare. Thanks for everything.
Foley, if the symptoms get too bad you can stop them by going back to the dose you started at. Ask Doc. Then knowing you are responding the way you are, you and he can develop a different reduction plan. This reduction isn't mandatory, it's voluntary. There is a difference. The assumption that a few extra hours or a couple of extra days and then you are done with it may or may not be true.
Thanks GG Cami, Jackie. Shells anyone I missed. Hugs.

Night Owls again I see! I just got home and put on my PJs before I started working again. Stuff boiling on the stove so trying to catch up!
Sas, about the scan ;0( I know what you mean about the techs though. When I left my mammo and they were all walking me out and holding the door, I knew something was up. Tried to tell myself it was because it was after hours and I was on crutches, but I knew something was not right. Hopefully it won't be that bad though. They can do lots for thyroid problems these days. Crossing fingers for you. The waiting sux though.
Gma, i didn't mean to add to your stress today. I really hope they find something that clicks for you soon. I hate taking meds of any kind. Feel Better. ((((((GmaFoley)))))))
Holeinone, yes you have to speak up! I used to be a passive patient, but then I am never sick, low BP, low cholesterol, etc..... Then they screwed me! Well let me tell you. I told all my Dr. offices to just record my first name as PITA (pain in THEIR ass). I have lived up to that, BUT I have had doctors themselves compliment me on how I have taken control and handled my situation. It is not that they are not looking out for us, it is that they have too many of us to look out for. You have to look out for yourself! Talk to the nurses and techs too. Often times they have their finger more on the pulse than the docs do since they are the ones in the trenches.
Di, hope they get those stitches out soon. Can't wait to see the beautiful result. I'm jealous, I want my upper lids done and don't want to wait for them to get bad enough for insurance to cover. Still keep trying to talk my PS into using that skin for nipples!!!
Hi Sweet Pea! we have bumped into each other before but don't think we have officially "met". I am the new PITA here!!! Sounds like your schedule is hectic like mine! I will never be ready for Christmas! I also have my swap surgrey scheduled this month because I am ready to be DONE too!! Good luck with the lat flaps. I may end up doing DIEP if the implants don't work or I don't like them, but figured baby steps. The TEs have been ok, except if I hug my kids they bounce off me and land across the room. You are braver than I am!!
Ducky, if you miss the grandkids I can send you mine any time. One at a time or in pairs, just let me know!! Do you smell something burning?? Oh, shit..........I have noodles boiling!!!!!!
OK, saved the pasta and moved the creepy Elf. My daughter freaks if the Elf doesn't move!
Luv, hows the weather holding out??? It is raining here still. You too Cami and Lili??? Hope you are all tucked in!
Hi Julia, glad you don't have to go to work today too!
Shells, I think you had today off? Hope you got some R&R and had a great day.
Wren, that jewelry sale sounds like it was fun!
Hi Teka, glad things settled down with the family stuff for you. Hope your cat gives you this message!
Flatsy, sas is right, you should look up Whippetmom. My PS changed what style implant he was going to use and went with her suggestion! She and the other regulars on the thread have a lot of great info. I think it is "Implant Sizing 101" or something like that. I never wanted to wear a bra either. Hated the things.
Spookie, thanks again for the offer on the arm brace.
Hey Chevy, I know you are asleep becuase you get up with the chickens!!
GG, Hope the move is finally starting to settle down. New appliances would be so nice. Ours are starting to go. Broken handle on the microwave, DW crapping out, etc....
Chickie, hope you and John got some rest today. When do you leave on your R & R trip???
SavGiGi. Hope all is well. Is it hot down by you too? Had to turn on the a/c humidity was so high!
And Charles, we haven't met but it is nice to have a celebrity drop by!
OK, off to bed. I gotta get up with the chickens too. If I missed anyone it was totally unintentional! I blame it on the late hour and the migraine from the storm front!
((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))
ok, that didn't work like I had hoped, but you get the idea!! -
Damn 4sewwhat, Teka just woke me up from a sound sleep to read your post. -
Please think of us in Oregon... Looks like Gma will be getting about 2 feet of snow. About 4-8 inches of snow where I am. I'm from Denver so have had plenty of practice driving in snow. Unfortunately, many folks who live around here have no idea how to do it.
I'm sending warm thoughts to each of you experiencing this nasty storm. -
where u r too.Julia the storm for u has started and I think it's coming this way, at least with the cold it is. I hope u gals are snuggly and don't have to move from u'r home. Foley I hope u'r doing a bit better and the Dr. said Ride it out??? Wow I ws surprised at that one, but that could be all they know--I would call my pharmacist and see what can assist my ride better--they might know more about meds. They usually do/
Oh Chevy should be getting u soon, even thos she doesn't feed the chickens she has an alarm in her head for the chickens. But I'll be nice to Chevy she's a sick woman and has to heal, So relax Chevy, besides it's colllddd
-
Morning Cammi! I'm up! Did you STAY up? It is so cold here... 0.4... So that means we don't have any temperature to worry about...ha!
I don't know about the Chickens... I won't call her... I'm surprised "she" can find her own car in the garage...much less remember to check on her chickens. They must be okay though.... They do huddle together up in their heated nesting area... So that must be where they stay most of the time.....
Are you there? -
Hope you are all snug and warm! Stay in if you can. Here too people just don't know how to drive in bad weather!
If I were Gma, I would take an electric blanket, coffee and a good book and go get comfy in that sun room and watch the storm! I'm weird that way, what can I say.
Morning coffee..... Saw him at Dunkin Donuts...........then the police came and hauled him away with a dozen!! -
4444! They probably hauled him away with our miss Phyllywiththeanklebracelet! Cute cartoon! -
Can someone please tell me what happened to our Veggy? I can't believe that she is gone! I know I have been MIA more than not these days, but sheesh, I don't expect any of you to up and die on me! Red was bad enough and now Veggy....ugh!
Sas, I am praying for a good result with your thyroid.
Shells, your eyes look great!!
Cammi, are you still afraid of chickens? LOL
Chevy, BRRRRRRRRRRR!
Ducky, I hope that your insurance is straightened out soon. They can be a nightmare! As for case managers from insurance companies, some of them are MANDATORY when you have BC. I had to work with one when my employer had us using CIGNA or they would not pay for my treatment (WTF???) but she was not too bad and did help me a bit. Now I am with a different insurance company (we change almost yearly depending on who had the best rates which is so damn stupid but I work for a non profit and they pay 94.5% of our premiums so I can't really complain) and they don't have case managers for BC patients.
GMA Foley, I watched my hubby go through withdrawl and it was awful. For years they doctor had him on pain killers for his knee. Then he had it replaced and the surgeon gave him two weeks worth and told him that was it. His PCP said it was in the surgeon's hand now so as you can well imagine, after two or more years on oxycodone (40 mgs a day) he was just told to suck it up! Not the way it should be done.
I have ativan for anxiety and I don't take it often and so I gave him some as my brother told me that would help him and it did. Maybe your doc can give you some of that medication?
To all the rest of you, I am at work so not a lot of time to hang out, but wanted to let you know I love you all and miss you. xoxoxo
-
We were just told not to go down the hill by a neighbor friend (our snow plow guy) - roads are so slick going to town we can't drive on them. -
Here is what it looks like at the moment - Sun just came up LOL: -
OMG, can't believe it. I'm not behind like I usually am. I don't know a lot of you well, but do want you to know whatever you may be going through right now.....I care. Just because !!! That's why I keep coming though I keep up with everyone and what may be happening at any given time quite badly.
Cammii, don't know what you got up North.....but we have 7 inches and it is still snowing. Dh just went out to finish cleaning off my car ( thank God for 4 - wheel drive ) and will go to town for milk which we forgot as I made hot breakfast ( rice with raisins and chia seeds ) and now we can't eat it. We may get as much as 4 more inches or five......what a lead - in to Christmas. Of course, I do like a white one, but I feel like this was too gentle and would have liked something a bit milder as a beginning. After all.....the day before yesterday it was in the 60's and people were out without coats. Sigh !!!!
Don't know but this might be a wash - out too.....my server didn't download my mail.....but all programs are opening......and I cleaned my computer ( in -box ) just a couple days ago.
Chevy --- hoping you and any one else that lives in snow country will be fine. We are just hoping and praying that we don't lose power.....which is not totally likely now that the ice-storm has passed.
Will see you all later.
Lilli
-
Hi April, yea bad time here.
GMA just do what 4444 said don't move out of u'r home.
Jackie wow u'r getting hit by this storm, our temps are way down, but so far no snow. So I don't know how this weather is going, cuz we usually get it and u don't. And I like a sprinkling of snow at Christmas but not inches at all and in no time it's so dirty it's not so nice to look at.

Hi called ENT's office. He's actually out on medical leave, but he's checking in. I faxed my copy of the report b/c they hadn't received it yet from the hospital. Not unusual that they hadn't received hard copy yet, it takes longer going through usual channels. That's why I always pick up. If he were in the office he could pull it up on computer, but he's not. I'm not concerned about a low functioning goiter, but whether it's cancer.
April sent you a PM on Veggy. Sorry you had to find out in general reading. Just FYI there are multiple approaches to weaning and withdrawal prevention. A drug suboxone is superlative for out of hospital withdrawal from narcotics. The doc has to be certified. But duh doesn't help your DH. Must have been really tough.
Chevy starting a flare, but I think the cider is stopping it. I do know it is controlling it's advancement.
To all I know you are in a mess to the west and north. Any surmising what's causing it. WE in the south and east have a bad hurricane season when EL Nino is the trend and mild season when EL Nina is the trend. Hope you all stay safe.
-
Julia, I know what you mean about folks here not knowing how to drive in snow. And worse, refuse to admit it and stay off the streets. DH and former BIL learned to drive in Anchorage, so both are experienced snow drivers. When we moved here BIL told DH to NOT drive in the snow here. Once I saw the hills, I took myself off the snow driving list. There are hills downtown that are hard to walk down, especially when wet. It's cold here, but no precip.
SAS, Hoping for good news on your thyroid. DIL had thyroid CA a year or 2 after they married. She's had 2 children since and is doing fine. It's been so long now that it's not affecting her insurance rates any more. -
Well we dodged the freezing rain out here. Not so good in the DFW area itself. Lots of carports gone under and trees. Many without power. It looks like we got more sleet/snow out west of Ft Worth rather than the freezing rain predicted. Not really much ice on trees. DH called into work; DD has a job that in a pinch can be done from home. She works logistics for retailer. Tracking FedEx trucks at present. So all tucked in. DH said goaty barn was actually a little warm but they can move out from under the heat lamps and their doors are open.
SS party cancelled for tomorrow night. I'm in class with much older people - well I am older Ha Ha. So driving at night is a pickle much less in dicey weather condition.
SweetPea - Austin keeps you moving and busy. I think Ducky is right, less time to stew about things.
Where is everybody?
This storm is a monster. I hope anyone in the Ohio valley is tucked in safe. Need DH to check with his sister in KY. I think Arkansas hit hard and still covered over. Quatre you getting any of this stuff or the ahead of it thunderstorms?
Lilli - I keep dry milk on hand. I buy a box with separate envelopes. It works great in oatmeal and such and I can't even taste it. Not too fond of it to drink but would cook with it without a problem. We tend to let milk go bad; don't go thru a gallon quick enough but won't pay prices for 1/2 gallon.
Gma - stay safe and hope withdrawals better today. Is that a lot of snow for you?
Sassy - thinking of you and your scan. Hope your ENT gets back to you soon.
As to what's causing this weather? We had the same kind of storm but prob. 10 times worse in 1978, the 1st ice storm I remember as a responsible adult. We had plenty of warning for this but some did not take it seriously since weathercasters blew same forecast 2 weeks ago. It is just way too early. "Entombed in ice" per the news. And Ha Ha just watched again on Weather Channel that no severe weather 1st week of Dec for sure covered Texas/AR/KY I think (to be fair I believe this was done the last week of Nov). O boy they missed that one. Now do I believe that Texas will have a warmer than normal winter???? -
Well, the temperature is up to 10 above! We went to the Grocery store.... supposed to STAY cold until next Wednesday.... Side streets still snow-packed, but the main streets are traveled and better....
Sass.... I know.... That Dishydrotic Eczema comes and goes, but the flare-ups aren't as bad! I still use gloves whenever I can.... And I use the cream I made.... Vaseline, Fluocinonide ointment and that 40% zinc oxide that I get from Super Target. Also mixed with Mentholatum. Try it, before you put soft gloves on.... I sleep with them on, and wear them whenever my hands aren't in water during the day.
Littlegoats! I used to keep dry milk on hand also. We have a little Kerosene heater on right now.... But we have a heat dish that we bought from Costco, when we aren't using our furnace...
Wren, the older I got, the more afraid I am to drive in the snow and ice.... I drive slow enough, for the conditions, but the OTHER drivers, mostly with Pick-up trucks drive like there ain't no tomorrow! They have no fear! But we just stay in, now that we are retired and don't HAVE to go anywhere!
Jackie, just stay in if you can! I don't think this weather is going to let up for awhile!
Talk to you all later! -
LMGoats, great idea about the dry milk. We have spoiled ourselves so much. We go to the Farm Fresh store here and buy milk in the bottle for $1.65. It tastes better than the milk in the carton and actually lasts fairly well, but every so often ( like today ) the last inch or two in the bottom doesn't make it.
We drink 1 % but if Dh would let me I'd go to skim. I do think you need a little fat in the milk to cook some things. I've slowed down on cooking....just me and him so it is not worth the bother. A lot of time I cook one day and do enough for the next several days.
Hope the Texas weather holds good. I rally don't mind snow.....in fact, missed it a lot the 25 years we lived in southern California. But I really would have preferred to skip the ice coating underneath and that it would come a little slower.
Good thoughts sas that your thyroid will behave. Like Gilda Radner was so fond of saying, " It's always something ".
Lilli
-
here is some news.......went to my Cardio today...routine visit....we got to talking, and now that 1% milk was mentioned by Lilli this is what he told me to do.......we were discussing calcium in milk for the bone and he said..........
Stop drinking low fat milk.......drink full fat because low fat has much more sugar then full fat, and the sugar is much worse for you then the fat.............I said really.......he said yes, because the sugar is converted to fat,so that is worst because you have excess sugar, plus fat........makes sense.....F -
Ducky, you are right about that because low carb diets allow cream, sour cream and full fat dairy because the sugar in low fat screws up the chemistry of the diet. Not surprised your doc told you that now that I think of the way low carb diets work.
Ok, gonna make dinner and check my cat's blood sugar (an ear poke, yup fun! but he is in remission for two weeks now YES!) -
By next week we're going to have to do a roll call to see who's who and who've each has decided to be. I'll start off then as people add the old ,the, new, and the wanna be, I'll keep adding names to this list as I see them.
