I bought ginger syrup from Costco - add it every day to carbonated water for the most ono (delicious) thirst quencher ever. They even have a recipe for a ginger martini - now THAT sounds good.
I've been on warfarin for 21 years and have never adjusted what I eat - my warfarin is dosed to my high vegetable diet. So Veggy, I'm kind of a veggy, too!
I'm so sorry you are feeling so crappy. Hugs all around you.
My interview went well. Not sure the job is a good fit for me - kinda overqualified for the role which would be a threat to the person who would be my boss (I used to work with her many years ago). It would be a great way to learn hospice - and a good opportunity to check my ego at the door. We'll see. If they do offer, would need to think about it. Whatever happens either way I will be okay with it.
-
Yeh, Kiwi ginger beer -non alcohol- its great and I use it for any upset tummy. We also have gingernut biscuits which wth the help of a cup of teas can settle things down. Did you take a liking to them Juliaana? My DD wants me to bring some when I come to Canada.
Veggy do hope you are feeling a bit better.
Great big hugs.
-
Alyson, yes the biscuits are wonderful. I also fell in love with Dilmah brand tea. For a long time we couldn't get it here. About 2 years ago I found an online store that stocks the tea.
Hope you and your family are safe. -
All fine here,I am in Auckland. Have many friends in Wellington-just buildings damaged. Their building code is really high because they have frequent quakes so it shows it has worked. Problem is the continuing quakes. My brother who lives in Nelson felt it as they were in the supermarket.Sil wondered why people were pushing things off the shelves the realised what was happening.

When we visited, we were in Christchurch and then toured through the lower half of the South Island. We were heartbroken at the damage Christchurch suffered. The flower festival was going on when we were there. We attended a concert at the cathedral. It was so beautiful with all the flower arrangements.
-
This is the cathedral now
Yesterday they opened the temporary cathedral.
Its made of cardboard and could last 30years,time to rebuld the main one.
-
Amazing..who would have thought of cardboard. It is beautiful in its modernity. Is it located on the square, too?
-
No its is in Latimer Square where the aid posts were after the big quake. Just near the CTV building which collasped.
-
Thanks Julia I'm not familiar with any of those terms (Thank God)--but I never thought of diet with anything like that. Oh u women know so much--I'm a bystander here and that's fine.
Well this is my first Good Morning so I hope everyone wakes up with decent feeling--Veggy I hope the best for u.if u feel any better make a list of all these ginger things so u have them in the house.
-
Well it is for you. Nearly over for me.
-
I'm happy for everybody for Saturday, but since I don;t work they're like one long day and darkness in between.
-
Well Cami I hope today is one that makes you feel contented.
I am retired as well but we do different things on the weekend and today saw some lovely early blossom and there were lambs as well. We took MiL out for lunch. Think we have her 90th birthday sorted. She doesn't understand how we can do it because we leave for Canada and Us Sunday week. Gosh it is getting close.
-
Alyson it's funny we talk about vacations and they seem distant, wham then all of a sudden it's here--This is a huge trip for u, lots of air time--I hope it's perfect too.
Shell I was thinking --to me--it's strange to go on an interview and u already know u'r maybe future boss--maybe goo, maybe not. But if u'r overqualified u really won't be happy I don't think, but maybe it's a place to start???
-
Oh I can't get into well reply to my PM's for some reason, I guess I should reboot this thing, IDK it keeps kicking me out. I need sooth in the morning hahha
-
Morning Cami! WHAT are you doing up so early? And whatever it was that you said on your last post, I gotcha babe! Just tell me what it is about "sooth" that you need this morning! I hope you find it, whatEVER the hell it is!
It must be something like .... ummmm...... tooth? Or maybe WTH???? I just can't figure it out. Honey, I think you should do more than reboot the thing..... just go back to bed, sleep a few more hours, and give it another TRY!!!
I think you are in need of a good chicken picture.
Okay, I've done my good deed for the day.
-
Thanks for the laugh first thing this morning Chevy. You and Cami are to funny!!!!!
Cindy AKA Squishy -
Nasty headache at 3:00 am. I thought my head would explode.
I took some pills and finally fell back to sleep. In a little while I am going to try to eat some real food.lets hope this has passed. -
Good Morning All--
Chevy u love love to taunt me---well I will tell u a story that could make a scary movie and no more taunts. I've always been fearful of bird and one day (many years ago) I was in my home talking on the phone and I saw a bird fly right by me in the living room--I screamed bloody murder and hung up and ran (when I could) down to the basement, not knowing what to do??? A few minutes later my door bells were ringing and I slowing went up the stairs and looked out the back window and there were like 3 cop cars and 4 policeman with their guns drawn so I let them in and told them to kill the dmn thing--they thought I meant a person and I said no no a bird (which also means bad luck) was in my house---Well they all left but one and he did catch it and let it go.--I still don't know why he didn't shoot it, it was tresspassing, but it scared me (the wings flipping around) forever--The person I was talking to called the police. So u see anything that flips their wings I get all flustered. So I have a reason. Now u Know the truth and more about my sordid past.
So how is everyone this morning? I'm on my first dose of pain meds-so it helps some--I hope everyone has a decent day and the weather is beautiful so if u can get out u'll love it--We all know Chevyegg was out very early for her lb. of eggs. )It's better than a lb. of flesh)

It's 3:35 am and I can't sleep again. Cammi - your bird story is hilarious. Trying to be quiet while I was ROTF! I just love it when you ad Chevy get started early in the morning - both of you are sooo funny, we really need to write that book, no movie, though, we need to protect the anonymity of our thread. Cammi, you are just wonderful despite the pain you have, you stay positive.
I so hope that you can eat, Vegette. I'm glad you could get the headache pain managed and get back to sleep. Is PPK near you, now? I just saw her post on TOL, think I'll go over and say hallo.
-
LMBO Cam, about your sordid truth. I can see though why you have un-pleasant associations with animals that have wings.
Also....medical terminology is often confusing and your just as smart as anyone when it comes to things that turn up in your vocabulary ( field of vision ) on an irregular basis. I don't get too wiped out since I was a Medical Corpsman many years ago.....but just look up what I don't know.....which that long ago is a lot at this point.
Alyson, sure glad you and yours are fine with the recent earth movements in your area. I lived in southern California for about 25 years. My first couple of quakes were totally scary, but after a while.....it was just something to be aware about but not too frightened. You just did what you had to do ( stay away from things that could fall on your or anything glass etc. ) while one was happening and then went about your business as usual.

OK good news for me--well not great cuz there's nothing going to be done about it, but I mentally feel better--OK my stomach is very round and big (no other way of saying it) and now it's determined sonce I have 2 hernias in there, if I got them operated on my stomach would go down inches. haha--I am overweight but this is disgusting actually, but now I have a real reason and it will be announced to everyone I meet from now on and to those I already know --of course no one wants to operate on me, unless it's an emergency and this isn't yet so I figure I have to lighten the weight of the remote control cuz it's like the only thing I actually pick up anymore. I also have a hernia in the upper part of my stomach too--SO I HAVE 3--comtributing to my girth and I have LE in my arms and some in my legs so again I am misshapened, Good thing my head is huge it offsets my other parts.
-
Let me get this straight little fraidy-cat Cami! You CALLED the cops because a little "bird" was in the house? Flying around your little house, scared to death? And he sees YOU, and it probably scared the Sh!nizzle out of him!!! ???? And so then you ran in the basement for cover???
And came out of your hiding place to meet the COPS???? And they pulled out their guns and did..... oh wait, I have to go back & read that again!
So if I am to believe you, they gently removed him/her, and let him go, and all the while with their little guns drawn??? And this bird probably CRYing, and having a heart attack, because he saw this HUMAN acting all belligerent and waving her arms and screeching???
Remember that story I told about calling the fire-department because these two little dogs in my neighbors yard....They were in dire straights, one dragging the other around, and them both howling? The fire department told me to leave them aLONE! That they were mating.
I knew that.
I said thank-you and hung up. I DIDn't know that.... I was profoundly embarrassed.
No WONDER I like you! Neither ONE of us makes any sense!
And your stomach is round? Okay, what's different about THAT??? Is all I want to know! Aren't they all? So your "girth" is in good company. My one leg/ankle matches yours.... maybe we are related? But I wear my compression stocking... That's IT!!!! Wear a compression stocking around your middle! Hernia gone! Do those ever go away on their own?
Okay.... enough of my babble.... onward to the store!
-
I am so far behind, just checking in, still on oxy, oscar is still with me, haven't spoken to the lung specialist yet, just had my 3rd week of chemo, now my week off and I can catch up....hope you all are welll...missing you!!
-
Welcome back Blondie. Enjoy your week off chemo.
Cami, Tippi Hedron, the actress in The Birds, was told they were going to use fake birds in that really scary scene. Hitchcock double crossed her and they were real. She was not acting when she screamed her head off. So you're in good company.
Chevy, the friend she was talking to called the police. Given the scream, it was the right thing to do.

Veggy! How you doin' girl? I had seen that video once! It's because when they get excited, their muscles tense, and they seem to faint...

Hi all, goats did someone say goats
Cami, can I say I have some sympathy about small birds flying around the house. Have top find someone to help me get them out but I wouldn't call the cops and ours don't have guns. But I love chickens
