Goldie- I dont think so, its not hot or red. The four ibrup. Kicked in so feeling better now. Its been there since my msx in May, I just figured I needed to massage it and wait. PS has seen it and doesnt seem worried so I didnt worry about it but dang it hurt tonigt. Im getting a lot busier now and trying to exercise so that is probably why.
-
Okay, Sweet. Good to hear. I have not had necrosis yet, but I thought since it's dead tissue it shouldn't hurt. Maybe there is some healing going on under the necrosis, and you pulled it a little moving around. I know they tell us no heating pads, and no ice because they are afraid we are going to over do it since we can't feel anything, but I am tempted sometimes when these expanders feel tight to put a heating pad on them, but I don't.
-
Mrt- go slow , sister, no medals for the fastest flapper girl (or not this year anyway
Bluebird - omg get a puppy already...seriously...who is going to tell you no? Get something good out of this wretched time lol! Although I think her name should be Manuka Honey! Video was a killer....neat young woman...every brave, like you
Hrf...Hugs for healing.
Lahela....So sorry you are down...I was talking to a med prof who says after major surgery they tend to see down and up cycles. Down right around 3 weeks and then turn a corner....down around 6 weeks and then turn a corner....same around 6, 9 and 12 weeks. I would buy that...but think I was on the slower end of things...but definitely seemed to be a sort of cycle to it for me.
Janet, how was work? Half way through the week tomorrow! Feeling tired?
La2shea- is it time to ask to see a wound specialist? Hugs!
Liefie and Kuka- good to hear from you!
Sweet - how was the detox water? If it were me I would ask PS for a referral to PT for that shoulder...seems lots of us need professional help (you already go to the doctor for a hobby...what's one more? I know, I get sick of it too!) with the shoulders. I have a very similar sounding spot of fat necrosis or scar tissue (not sure which) and yes, it hurts.....cannot wait to get it out! Besides it feels a like a big old tumor and who needs a reminder of their tumor? Not me.
Jeannie fly fishing sounds awesome!
Cherie, thinking of you tomorrow!
Sbel...it does look crispy out there....but beautiful! Thanks for sharing
Movie - sorry for your stress! And yes some people are allergic to tegaderm....I forget since it's one of the few things I don't react to!
Debdylan...I have projection....So far! We'll see what stage II bringsI think we were talking about squats before any of our stages, unfortunately!
Curlylocks...bless your heart...cancer is hard enough when it's happening to you. Cannot imagine going through it with my sister. Hugs.
Mtpeteacher - healing hug to you!
Kimdy add reading glasses to your list, if you need them!
Tracy -you did the right thing by sharing with the woman....that's all you can do.
Ok...gotta hit the sheets...love y'all!
oh, wait, Nihahi....bless you for your work with the red cross! -
Bluebird a puppy! I agree😄. Puppies always make things better. My little yorkie goes with me everywhere, sleeps with me and just puts a smile in my face everyday. I vote yes for puppy!
Movie, it's your birthday too? I guess since I got your boobs, now we share boobs and birthday, ha!!
Never thought I was going to turn 36 looking like a monster high doll. I think for Halloween I'll wear something that shows my tummy incision and some for my boobs and pretend I'm a zombie or something. My daughter saw me in the bath today and looked at my boobs and doesn't say anything. So I asked her if there was something wrong. She says, your apples look weird. Apples are nipples. I as her how and she replied that before my boobs were down and now they're up. The conversations I get to have with my kids. Maybe one day I'll tell them the whole true -
Sweet pickle, I have a really hard area way up near my port scar and it is sensitive. Haven't talked to PS about it yet. I don't like it but I have no advice.
Mtpeteacher, you sound great! I hope you continue to heal uneventfully.
Kuka, happy birthday tomorrow, you young thing!!!!
Bluebird, I would hug you every day and do a silly dance to keep you smiling if I could! I am speechless that you have to start rads now. I know you'll take it one day at a time or one hour or one minute, whatever you need. You've had too much practice.( I just know you will look back over your shoulder on all this some time and then be able to turn your head around and look forward to a new future. (((Hug)))
Curlylocks, I am so sorry about your sister. You have my sincere sympathies. -
Kimdy, have soft, loose pants and comfortable underwear! Don't work too hard buying a lot of stuff and cleaning your house from top to bottom. Most of us think it wasn't necessary. I did use my shower chair for awhile. Have something ready to hold drains when you shower, like ribbon or tubing. As Bailey, I think, said, you don't have to be brave, you just have to show up. You will take a nice long nap. Say hello to Wilbur for me! That means you may not remember much and you may say crazy things after surgery like I did.....don't touch your electronics or you may post some of that!
-
This is for all my sisters on DIEP 2013, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8VoUYtx0kw&feature=player_embedded.
Thinking of all of you with problems and anxiousness! ...Julie
-
Kimdy, best wishes for your DIEP. I waited 4 years for mine and I'm so glad I did it. Ladies here gave me a great list of items to take with me to hospital. It was very helpful.
Bluebird, so sorry this just isn't stopping for you. But hope you have an easy time with the rads. You seem so strong. I'm sure that you will find solutions to all the issues as you have a great attitude. -
Bailey- I love it, it is much more refreshing than plain water.I forgot to add the ginger like Goldie suggested and plan to add that to tonights batch. I was thinking I might need PT for that spot too, its not going down at all and its been three months.
-
Hi ladies,
It's been a changing week for me, I'm hoping I've turned a corner. I'm settling into my new place. Because I changed areas I've had to wait for a vac. I've had a week long break and it's made a world of difference for my skin and my mental health! I'm not sure when it will be available but the traditional dressings are working ok. I've been out and about twice in one week, how liberating! I'm going to drive this week and I'm doing a lot more than I have since surgery.
Welcome to all of the new flappers. Good luck to those having surgery this week!
There is too much to comment on for a week but please know that I've read everyday and I wish each and everyone of you nothing but the best in your journeys. Thank you for inspiring me, encouraging me and most of all supporting me!
Cheers,
Sherry -
Julie, thank you for sharing that video. What an awesome way to start the day!
-
Great to hear you've turned the corner, Sherry. Thanks for the video, jlbloom.
-
my lord....what a busy bunch!!!
cherrie....thinking of you...how wonderful to be on the eve of your FINAL SURGERY!!!!! Hope it goes smoothly this time, remember that gingerale and crackers!!!
kuka...happy birthday, you "toddler" you!...You're going to be tired until that 3 year old of yours graduates from high school!
sherry....gosh, you sound better...progress???? BRING IT ON!!!!
curlylocks...your sister is still with you...I bet much of your strength is coming from her. Hoping for that date soon for you. It is maddening not to be able to "organize", but, you aren't going to change anything by stressing about it...hang in there!
ok....Manuka Honey for the puppy if it's a girl, Wilbur if it's a boy....but it's got to be cute and fluffy!!!!!
sbe.....Aubrey is just......."there are no words"....thank you SO MUCH!!!!!! How did your appt go with ps????
mammalou....you WILL get your ROM back....don't give up on it....this comes from someone who had ROM issues PRE surgery......I know you want it back yesterday, but just keep at it.
sweetpickle...so sorry you have that lump thing....I agree....have a physio assessment, if nothing else.
movie and liefie....what the heck is going on with you two???
I don't know what a fitbit is either???? but sounds like fun!
I know I have missed about 1,000 of you, but gotta dash. Have good days, everyone.
-
sweet....just had a thought....I wonder if what you have is a neuroma...nerves caught up in scar tissue? I don't know much about fat necrosis, but....not sure it would be painful? Does fat tissue have nerves?? Don't remember.
-
Ooohh Nihahi.....neuroma..possibility....thanks for that will research later....I was just coming on to say to Sweet that I think the reason mine hurts so much is because it is heavy and pulling, and sitting in there against radiated tissue that is not happy tissue. It all feels better when I am kinesio taped up.....but was kind of feeling like I might be reacting to the kinesio tape last night so I pulled it all off...but I think I was just hot and sweaty from hot flashes.....oh well...now I have to wait until next week to get taped again
I have my six month MO appt tomorrow. Anticipa-ay-shun.....incedentalomas on my mind....Lol....never goes away. -
OMG....jbloom....LOVE THE VIDEO!!!! I have shared it with another thread, thank you SO much for sharing it with us!
bailey.....YOU are an "overcomer"!!!!!!
-
I went on amazon and looked up fitbit, it's a device to measure your steps.
-
Sherry, so good that you have turned a corner. I hope you continue to improve every day.
A Fitbit is a little device that measures your activity every day. It counts steps, stairs, miles, calories used, etc. It synchronizes with your computer and smart phone so at any time of day you know where you are with regards to activity and eating. It send you encouraging messages and keeps daily and weekly records for you. I also have mine synchronized with a free app called My Fitness Pal which allows you to record your daily food and counts calories, carbs, sodium, protein, fiber.......basically anything you want. The premise is that you need a certain number of calories per day. So if you are trying to lose weight and want to be at 1200 calories per day (that is a minimum) you must also eat back your activity calories. So if I exercise and use 200 calories then I need to eat 1400 calories that day. Honestly, this works and it's fun because these things are so easy to use. I ordered my Fitbit on line from their website. -
HAPPY BDAY, KUKA!!!!! Take it easy today, and make those kids be nice to you today. LOL. I with the heat would break here so we could have normal outdoor lives like the rest of the world!!!
Hey, if you daughter said, "now your boobs are up, and they use to be down." Isn't that a good thing?
-
Happy Birthday Kuka!
jbloom, awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
mammalou, There is Manuka honey wound paste as well. It comes in a syringe and can be "injected" into tunneled areas. I ordered this and was planning to use it, but the plain Manuka honey (400+) worked so fast, I never needed the wound honey. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V98R4G/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also use Manuka soap. The detergent cleansing soaps are too strong for me and can't imagine using "Dial" soap on my open wounds which medical people suggest, but needed something to wash wounds in shower. This is the one I use and love it:
Sweetpickle, I also have some tender hard lumpiness. It can really hurt at times. I've tried gentlly massaging it, but can't really say that has helped much yet. It's almost too tender to touch.
Jeannie, enjoying my virtual hug and silly dance! I wish I could go fly-fishing with you!
Good luck Cherrie!
I've always been a bigger dog fan, but I'm now torn between a tiny pocket dog to carry around or a dog to go on hikes with me. A Shiba Inu puppy has come up for adoption, but it is a rescue case that may need a lot of work and care. Normally, the kind of dog I would definately take on. I've worked with dogs my whole life and love a challenge. And to be able to focus on something else besides myself would be good. But there is also the possibility of a chihuahua puppy. Small dogs need require a lot of housetraining. I can't decide! I know the right dog will come my way, my maybe I need a vote. What do you think ladies?
-
There is a branch of Physical Therapists who specialize on Women's Health. They are trained to deal with all the issues faced by post surgery bc patients like us. Issues I had: shoulder movement, muscle tightness, hard and lumpy ab-incesion, lymphedema prevention/care, and general ROM problems... They help a great deal.
Happy B-day kuka. You are a baby on this thread.
-
Definately the Shiba rescue! I want one myself...
-
Yeah, Sherry. Good to hear. Maybe if you get the magic Manuka Honey you can throw that wound vac away! Who knows?! That stuff sounds awesome. Keep us posted on your adventures out in the world.
-
Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes.
I have something similar to a fibit. It's the Nike fuelband. I'm not sure that it works, but hey, it's a cool looking watch😄
Bluebird, my little yorkie is only 2.5 pounds and is no work at all! I taught her to go potty on pads I put inside the house and she has never have an accident. She's so good! And keeps me company and sane when my toddler tries to make me go crazy, lol. I think any puppy, rescue or not, need work for the first few weeks. It's all going to depend on how much money you want to spend. Small breed dogs are expensive and rescue would be a lot cheaper. I think it would help you a lot in your situation. The first few weeks I had my puppy, I had her in a small play pen with a pad and a bed. This way I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night with her. I'm sorry, but after 3 kids, I'm not giving up my sleep for anybody, not even a puppy. This is how I trained her. You can google it. I think it's called apartment trained. It really does work! -
Bluebird, we have two rescue dogs that are littermates--Sammy and Sissy. They both weigh about 11 pounds and we call them "hybrids." Probably Maltese, Jack Russell, Chihuahua, and some other small terrier mix. They're wonderful and make us laugh every day. Sammy is very trustworthy, but Sissy sometimes will get lazy and pee in the house, especially if it's raining. They both really dislike wet weather, so California is perfect for them!
-
Bluebird - I vote shiba inu!
I've been trying to catch up on this thread, but my job is really getting in the way. Going back to work is hard! However, I got so excited about the idea of a new dog that I had to pull over and start googling.
I adopted a loud, stubborn, middle-aged Bassett hound five years ago, and he's the love of my life, and my favourite companion.
He doesn't fit in a handbag - but he does just find in a king size bed -
Jbloom, thanks for sharing the awesome video. I just shared it with a newly diagnosed BC friend.
-
Jbloom, great video. I loved watching each one of them getting back to their lives. So inspiring
-
Sherry, I've been thinking about you. So glad you checked in and are seeing improvement. Yay!!
Bluebird, I'm glad you have lots of experience with dogs because both of those breeds . require good training! My little Pomeranian Poodle mix is a joy but also a "marker." Now he wears a "belly band" in the house so he won't pee!
Janet, good to hear from you! I hope working gets easier soon!
Jlbloom, I have that video in my favorites! It is a keeper. Thanks for sharing it here.
Bailey, here's to no incidentalomas! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. My checkup is next month. Will they ever stop making us nervous?
My husband has a fitbit but I exercise a lot more than he does! I use the app, Map My Tracks.
I don't know if I've said this before but the fly fishing is a program for bc'ers put on by my hospital. We spend one day on campus learning about fish, flies, etc. and then we take a motor coach on another day to a river to float and fish. They provide everything, even cameras to record the experience. Then there is an opportunity to scrapbook the photos if you want and the finale is dinner at a nice restaurant. All for free. My bc friend is coming with me and she is hilarious so it should be fun.
Hope today is a good day for my sisters here! -
Jlbloom...we are overcomers! Thanks for sharing!
