DIEP 2013

Oh, Nihahi maybe "welcoming me" would have been better wordage. I have been on some threads where nobody responded to me. DIEPers 13 are the best!
Goldie, the only reason sex might not be great at the moment is because of fbc! My hubs is wonderful. I like that, "Wilbur tells it like it is!" -
Hi all - I am feeling old. Y'all are talking at the speed of light! All is well again here. Had to run the DH to the ER for the day with what we thought was a UTI, but turned out to be a bladder issue. All well now though there was no sleep last night for either of us. My inner thighs are the loveliest technicolor shades of purple and green and are still very tender.
-
All of my abdomen/torso/breast area either hurts, or is numb. I am really surprised by how much numbness I have, especially at the abdominal incision area. Is that normal?
-
Christina, I am three weeks out and I still don't feel my abdominal incision itself. I had been expecting much more pain.
-
So This will tell you about my current state of mind.....
I was bending over this morning and looked down my shirt at my two different sized breasts. I felt like, wow, these cost about $200,000. I didn't pay it, but that's what they cahrged my insurance. Definitely not worth it! I was thinking that if they had offered me $200,000 to remain a uniboob, I might have taken it. Lol
Sorry, to be a downer and tell you about my random thoughts! I'm sure, in the end, I will be thrilled with this now boob. Of course, that will probably cost another $1000,000.😉 -
It's very normal, Christina....by golly, numbness just might be the one thing we all have!!!! Lmao...put that on the shirt..."FLAPPER GIRLS ARE TOTALLY NUMB" (jk).
I bet there is a wide variation on how long it lasts for each of us, though.
Jeannie - we are all so happy you are with us!!! I agree...I have tried a few forums myself....this is the best ever. -
Nihahi and movie, I wish I could meet up with y'all. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Marty, sorry about the no sleep last night. Is your DH feeling better? I know what you mean about the different shades on your thighs, I have it going on what it used to be my love handles;)
Christina, it takes a while before you get the feeling back on your tummy. Remember they cut through a lot of nerves. My ps said that sometimes you won't get all the feeling back. 3 months after my DIEP I still didn't have all the feeling back, but most of it. Now, after stage2 I have to start all over again.
Goldie, I'm so glad you're feeling better and got out today. I had some friends come over for lunch and feel better than yesterday. I talked to ps yesterday and he really put my mind at eased. I know God is trying to teach me patience and sometimes I'm not a very good student.
DH and kiddos went to get frozen yougurt and can't wait for them. I asked them to bring me a chocolate one to cheer me up😜 -
Hahahaha, mammalou! Please don't make me laugh like that again. I laughed so hard it hurt!
Jeannie, I don't even try to go to other forums. You ladies are the best! -
Movie, I posted the link for the lemon scones on the other thread - LOL. Could not resist, sorry.
Kuka, had an ice-cream myself earlier today, a white mocachino, whatever that may be, on a waffle cone. It was my lunch - soooo delicious, and healthy too - dairy contains lots of vitamins, right?
Jeannie, you are soooo funny, and a sweetheart too. That sex story is hilarious, and Wilbur has become a fixture here now. 'Wilbur tells it like it is' - I LOVE it! Can't do without him, whether he is a stuffed animal, a funny old man, a dwarf, a troll or whatever - we all love him, have a relationship with him (a little like The Bachelor - lol!) and will not let him go. The garden tea party was lovely, but it was very, very hot. We eventually sat on the grass in the shade with lemonade and other cold drinks. An amazing summer here too, no rain for the last 2 months.
Goldie, every time I read how much your TE's hurt, I just cringe for your sake. Still remember that feeling after each fill as if my skin was being torn away from my breastbone - ouchy! Take pain medication if you are not doing so, and hang in there. Have your DIEP been rescheduled yet? I feel as if I can call, and tell them to hurry up . . .
Christina, 12 weeks out, and I still have the iron plate around my belly button, about 4 inch diameter now, and shrinking gradually.
Marty, hope you and DH will get some sleep tonight, and that your rainbow will start fading soon.
We got stopped by the police on the lake earlier today. They chased our boat down in their intimidating big black boat which felt a bit surreal, like a movie, and I felt just like a drug smuggler - lol. Fortunately we had our operator's licenses and the boat license, but we did not have a fire extinguisher or extra floating rope on board - oops! Lucky for us they were in a good mood, and let us off with a warning. Fine would have been $460 - phew!!!! Told the officer if our small motorboat ever catches on fire, I will just grab a lifejacket, and jump overboard, and not waste time finding the fire extinguisher - he just grinned sheepishly. Lol. My mouth is going to get me in trouble one day.
-
Kuka, when it comes to spending money you can always get me out. I guess my DH feels sorry for me, and said I could have that new bedroom furniture I have been wanting. We went to 4 furniture stores today. I only found one bed I sort of liked. We were just about to have some serious stuff done to the house when I got my diagnosis, now what seemed so important before doesn't seem that important right now. I will be happy with new boobs, a clean liver, and a pretty new color paint in my bedroom to go with the new furniture.
Jeannie, that might be it..."Wilbur tells it like it is." We don't have to have a Wilbur, we can have some pretty graphic around the slogan, the pink ribbon on the back with what I believe Faith said. Remind me again Faith. Drugs have killed my memory.
-
Well, I'm still laughing. I guess that is a good sign! I just finishing stuffing my hole and am heading out to the movie. I feel like I can actually walk a little better today. Another good thing.
-
Went back in posts to check, and it was Faith that came up with the back of the shrit, her quote was:
"A journey only a survivor could understand"
Somebody also said something like, "Yep, these are fake, but my real ones were killing me.' I like it. I think it's funny, but I don't know if I want to advertise my boobs, and then everybody would look at them.
-
I love it Goldie!
Front- Wilbur tells it like it is! DIEPERS 2013!
Back- breast cancer ribbon- a journey only a survivor could understand!
Imagine wearing this out in public, you see another one and approach said person and voila an instant reunion! -
Between mammos, biopsies, scans, mugas, chemo, rads, port in/port out, mx, hyster, LE tx, infection hospitalization, PT, OT AND reconstruction....DH and I figure I will be worth a million bucks.....Crazy, Mammalou, just crazy. Lol!
-
Yes, Sherry!!! I love the Diep 2013.
Come on everybody....we are getting there. Any other ideas?
Are we allowed to use the breast cancer ribbon? Is it a logo only used by Susan B. Koman, or anything? I really don't think it would be an issue for a few women in a special club, like ours!!!!!
-
I really like "Wilbur tells it like it is"
Diepers '13
And on the back the ribbon with the slogan that only a cancer survivor understands. Count me in! -
Goldie- if you Google "pink ribbon clip art" you can find "public use" ribbons that we could use. The Komen ribbon is actually symbolic of a runner...So the ribbon is "running" and has a dot (head of runner) on the top...I believe that "running ribbon" is protected by Komen so it wouldn't be cool to use their ribbon.
-
Here's a wild suggestion for a shirt. What about "KEEP CALM and REMEMBER WILBUR" - playing off the British slogan from WW2 with the crown at the top. The "L" in Wilbur could be the pink BC ribbon.
-
Haha, Sharon, that's funny! Except I would rather not have the ribbon in it.
-
..I'm a tram, not a diep....does this mean I'm not part of the tshirt????
-
Thanks, Bailey. And, the guy who will be doing the design is a pro, and probably will know what is allowed.
I really like those soft slightly fitted cotton tshirts that have nice drape to them, and are very flattering. I have a few that are slightly gathered at the neck line and make the girls look fabulous.
We are lucky to be living in a time where if you have a pretty bra on it's okay for you to show the straps, or layer it under a tank top. Sometimes I will wear a sports bra under a t-back yoga shirt and it looks really nice.
Oh, my expander's are getting to look a pretty good size since yesterday's fill, and my husband said they look like 1980's porn boobs without nipples. I asked if that was good, or bad...lol. He didn't really answer. Just raised his eyebrows a few times with a silly smile on his face. Then it dawned on me, if there were no men to look at us, would we care if we had breasts? I think yes.
Sharon, adding your idea to the list. I liked the other one you gave me, "Where there's a Wilbur, there's a Way."
-
Oh, Nihahi, you are an impt. part pf our family! What if we say "Flappers '13" instead so you and others feel better?
-
It should be a majority thing really, but I'd be more in favour of a "less public announcement" of our surgeries, and a more "inner circle" type of slogan, referring to Wilbur and/or Towanda.....I'm not an "in your face" pink ribbon person...probably in the minority again. I do like goldies suggestion of style of tshirt...I hate the boxy look too, and the fabric defo needs to be soft and comfy....like sbe's soma jammies....Just throwing out my thoughts.
liefie....got the scone recipe, thanks! My neighbour just brought me some freshly picked blueberries from BC, maybe I'll try making the scones tomorrow, to take on Monday for my last day at High River.
-
Sorry I didn't think about the tram flappers. So the diepers would have to be changed. How about we do the Wilbur slogan on the front and just TOWANDA on the back. Maybe the shirts could be black with pink letters? I agree that the fabric should be soft. And hey, it's ok if they're fitted since we all have nice flat tummies now😜
-
And could we have the letters to glow in the dark?
Just took a little cocktail because I feel very tight and uncomfortable and just want to have a good nights sleep, so I might come out with a new Wilbur word tonight, lol -
Kuka, I like it!
-
I like all your suggestions kuka....I had forgotten about the glow in the dark thing....gotta have that!!!!
I'm turning in, hoping to get a good sleep ....... no insomnia parties tonight, ok???!!!!!! Sleep well my friends. For those who can't sleep ....it's meteor shower time tonight.....look to the northeast, if you have clear skies!!!!
-
Well crap! My glue has come off on my tummy and now if I take the dressings off my boobs the glue is going to come off too! What do I do?
Marty, with your second stage, did your boobs turn yellow? Because now I have some yellow glow in the dark boobs. How about that?! -
Test
-
Kuka, like your suggestions a lot. It's more subtle, but still says it all. Like Nihahi, not a pink ribbon fan.
Nihahi, the scones are easy peasy. Happy baking!
