Hi girls, I don't comment much anymore, but read every day.

Morwenna, seems you had lots of fun dragonboating - the competitions are the best. That's how I busted my shoulders, but in the heat of the moment you don't want to be the lazy one on the boat, and you give it your all . . . such fun!

Really busy getting ready for the visit from my sister and her family from Namibia. They are arriving on July 14, and will be here for my 60th birthday. All my children are also coming home, and we will be around 12 people for 2 weeks. Cleaning house, getting rooms ready, and cooking, baking and freezing ahead so I do not spend every waking moment in the kitchen. Will divide them into teams for helping, making salads and clean-up. Looking forward to this so much!

    All the best to everybody!

    Hi everyone

I also am checking in and want to wish all the Americans on this board a very wonderful Fourth of July. It has been a bit of a crazy last few weeks for me - work has been very hectic - I was rushing from one meeting at one hospital site to get to my car so I could get to a meeting at a hospital on the other side of the city two weeks ago and had quite a fall. I tore three ligaments on the outside of my left ankle and I have an avulsion fracture on the inside of the same ankle (means that ligament took a piece of bone with it when it tore off) . I still made all my meetings that day but have added physio three times a week for six weeks to my schedule.

We also had Paisley's first birthday party  with lots of people on the 29th, my oldest son's family all down and stayed with us that weekend, the we set off on vacation to Saskatchewan on Monday.

Morwenna - love the rose story - it must have been very moving. Also enjoyed the pictures.

Adagio - good to hear the eye is healing well.

Edi - in your pockets until CT results back - hope all is good and it can help with settling nerves.

Liefie - you also sound very busy, what a milestone to celebrate for you - 60! Hope you are treated royally, I know you will be truly celebrating

I know I haven't mentioned all - I have missed checking in, I hope to be on more frequently now that everything is a little calmer

    Take care everyone

    Hi 😎

Websister poor you 😞 as if you aren't busy enough without the fall.!! Hope all heals soon. Going to ring hospital this morning to see if I can get results sooner. We want to go on a much needed break and have to sort insurance. You are right, if all OK nerves will settle( until next panic.)have a great vacation 🌞🌴🍸

    Dakota, ( hug ) x

Liefie, life sounds wonderfully busy and exciting for you. Have a great time 🙆.

My DS is coming to spend day with us today so we are really looking forward to the day.

    Nihahi, are you OK ?

Best wishes and Happy 4th July to my American friends, love to all.

websister - wishing you a speedy recovery from your torn ligaments - sounds painful! Your family life sounds super busy - you will be glad for quieter days. How do you manage to work and do all that - no wonder you get so tired! My busy days are all ahead of me with #1 daughter's wedding just 4 weeks away now - just doing final things but mostly it is all organized - thanks to my super efficient daughter. Now I have to start shopping for a dress! We also have lots of out of country family coming from the U.K. and  Mexico. So it will be crazy busy - unlike Liefie, I am not planning food ahead of time - hoping that everyone will pitch in.

Liefie - I am impressed at how organized you are with all your preparation for visitors coming. It will be a super busy, but fun time for you, and how lovely that everyone will be here to celebrate your 60th birthday! So glad that you are healthy and well to enjoy it.

Edi - do let us know as soon as you hear your results from the scan. You certainly deserve a nice long break, and I hope you go somewhere really nice!

Happy 4th July to all our American ladies - enjoy the celebrations!

I'm good edi....just trying to step back a bit from the constant awareness of bc, which is very hard for me to do if I check the threads daily. I know I was able to "shrink the elephant to a dust mite" in years past, and need to get back to that mindset. I have been checking in every now and then to read, though.

websister......shocked by the news of your tumble.....and it must have been a doozer!!!!! I hope the pain is manageable, and that physio is able to help you out, big time. I'm here if I can help with anything. Still hoping too that we can get together again. Maybe you or mo or I should just pick a time/day, and tell Benny when and where????

it has been quiet on here lately, hope that means everyone is enjoying their summer. It is hot here today, I heard it just hit 30 degrees centigrade (86 Fahrenheit), can't complain after waiting for it so long

Nihahi - silly tumble - would be wonderful to have a 're-do' button in life sometimes, eh? Oh well, I'm trying to behave. I agree that we should probably just pick a place and date and let Benny know. I am here until end of July, then away for a week first week of August - the following week I am off but back in Calgary so should be very available that week.

    Take care everyone

    Hi Ladies,

Just checking in because i know things have been quiet. I am doing pretty good. I am getting several pieces of furniture painted. I really have no idea of the best way to paint furniture, but I am getting things pulled together. DH just keeps finding more projects for our contractor to do….soon this "cottage" will have more investment in it than the "big house" LOL

Websister…a "re do " button would be really wonderful…I hope you are healing and not in too much pain.

I am typing this really late and DH wants to turn the lights off. Hope everyone is doing well…I will pop back in tomorrow!

Websister, so sorry to hear about your fall and the torn ligaments, as if you don't have enough on your plate already! By this time you are hopefully healing, and I wish you the best with the busy stuff coming up. Also enjoy the time off!

Edi, how are you? Summer is such a busy time, and I find it hard to check in here regularly.

Adagio, wedding is coming up fast now, eh? And then another one . . . you will still be busy for some time to come, but it is a nice kind of busy. Preparing for my DD's wedding is what kept me going through the dark days of chemo and radiation 2 years ago. I'm doing so much food prep so that I can also relax and enjoy the visit. Also want to spoil them rotten. My sister and family are coming halfway around the world to be with us - very special. Yes, I feel very blessed and privileged to be able to enjoy my 60th birthday. No more qualms about getting older, just grateful for the time and second chance I've been given. Celebrations!

Nihahi, I hope that elephant had shrunk already - know exactly what you are talking about. At some stage one has to withdraw. I'm doing the same.

Jenifer, your cottage will be spectacular! We may be doing a road trip down the Oregon coast in September, nothing certain yet, so will stop by in Yachats if you are still there.

My family and my children are arriving on Monday. Cannot believe it is so close now. DH and I will do a final Costco run on Sunday for fruit and veggies, and then we will be ready. I do get a little break in between, because we are all going to Seattle next Thursday. The boys want to see the Boeing factory, and the girls will keep themselves busy in the stores - lol. We are taking the Victoria Clipper over to Seattle, and will come back the same way on Saturday. Should be a spectacular cruise, because the weather is just glorious, and supposed to stay like this for some time to come.

liefie - your time planned with family sounds tremendous - and you will spoil them rotten, and I am so glad that they will get to see some of our beautiful BC weather! Today I finally started cleaning and organizing rooms for our out of town guests - lots of work, but like you say, it will be so worth it just to see people that I don't see very often at all. The week after the wedding we are all going to the Sunshine Coast -  we have rented a place there right on the beach so it should be very relaxing and a much needed down time for me. The little grandchildren will be here and I am certainly looking forward to seeing them.  Next week I have my oncologist appointment, so hoping that all will be well in that regard. I am so grateful that I feel as well as I do, and my eye is healing very wonderfully after the surgery. Life is good!!! Enjoy your company and a very happy birthday to you!!

Jennie - it has been quiet here lately, hasn't it?

Great news re: your scan, Edi - I'm sure that will give you a boost!

With you on Thursday, Adagio!  I have my three month check in with my medical oncologist then too - although must say, he doesn't spend much time with me.

Very sorry to hear about your fall, Websister. Hope that you are healing well and that you will receive good news re: the tests you had last week.

Just back from a wonderful vacation in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  Feeling a bit depressed re: the return to real life.  Bathroom reno starts tomorrow, so hopefully that will take my mind off it all.

DH watching the World Cup later that day. 😬 . I had just finished making the curtains as a surprise for our friend who owns the caravan, she did chose the material but didn't expect them to be made just yet.Not long ago didn't have the energy to even cut them out. !! They are theming everywhere with a cosy seaside feel ,original curtains were a dreadful brown and orange 😕 Her lovely DH has laminated the floors and put wood half way up with insulation behind. This will all be painted silvery grey this week. We are hoping to go back for a another visit very soon. It is so peaceful. When we got up next day three little baby rabbits were playing in the field outside.

Edi - looks lovely in Anglesey and you are looking good too in the photo. Good job on the curtains -  I like the colour. Do take more mini vacations - they are so restorative. I am super busy with wedding stuff that we haven't been able to get away as often as usual - but once the end of September comes, I will be more than ready for a break.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts for tomorrow - will let you all know how it goes.

Websister - patience is the keyword for ankle injuries - it takes time!!! Hope the results of your endoscopy are good - did you need a general anaesthetic for that?

My son is in town from Quebec, so having a family dinner - there will be 10 of us. I am doing baked fresh wild sockeye salmon with roasted veggies and a quinoa salad - yum! Would be even more yummy if I didn't have to do the cooking!!

    Have a good day everyone!

Sorry to be quiet :( Trying to keep my mind off of the "what ifs". Edi…the curtains are lovely, and I am thrilled over your scan results.

Adagio…yummy salmon. My favorite food! Wedding days are getting closer. Take a deep breath, if anyone asks to help, take them up on it. I want you to be able to remember your beautiful daughters' special day. Hoping your MO appointment went well.

Websister…OUCH! I do hope they sedated you. Take care of your ankle, and fingers crossed that the esophagus biopsies are nothing to worry about.

Is it me or do our doctors run expensive and invasive tests just to keep us on the edge and constant worry? Getting away to OR finally allowed me to let go of some stress. When I look back over the past year, I really find it hard to believe what my body has gone through. Of course looking at curly white hair in the mirror is a quick reality check.

We have planned our return trip to GA. We are leaving OR on Aug.4th and will get back to GA on Aug. 9th. Then the doctor appointments start that week. I have been a very bad survivor…I have gained 10 lbs. But as Scarlet says, "I do not have time to worry about that. I will worry about that tomorrow." I will have to have an ortho surgeon look at my torn shoulder muscle. I have to take pain pills daily, and I really would like to get off them.

Today was a beautiful day. We drove down the coast to Coos Bay to get some fresh canned tuna. I hit all the thrift stores along the way, but did not find any treasures today. But I am set with tuna for the next year.

Good to hear from Jennie, Catlin, Liefie, Mo, and Nihahi….this blog may be quiet, but I think of all of you daily.

so good to hear from everyone!

Edi - you do look well! Loved the pictures, glad you plan to get away more - the curtains look great!

Adagio and Caitlyn - hope your MO visits were non-eventful

Momof2 - glad you had some time in OR to rest and absorb all that you have been through. Hope things don't speed up too much once back. With you for all your appts - hope the shoulder is repaired quickly and easily!

Liefie - glad you are enjoying your family - you will have gone to Seattle today

Re: endoscopy - not general anaesthetic but conscious sedation - they use Fentanyl and Midazolam. I have a Barrett's esophagus which means there are precancerous cells lining the lower part of the esophagus, closer to the stomach. I have endoscopies every three years so they can monitor. This time the area of Barrett's had changed from 4 cm three years ago to 8 cm. They do several biopsies. I was told results would take about 1 1/2 weeks so still some waiting time but not losing any sleep over it.

It has been hot here, this evening it is raining so a nice break. Looking forward to getting into my flower beds this weekend, they need some TLC.

    Take care, everyone

gosh momof2.....it seems like you just got out to Oregon! Enjoy the rest of your time there, and make plans for the future....you'll be coming back there for many, many years.

edi...I've been watching the British Open on tv...looks like a beautiful day there. Here, there were tennis ball (I kid you not) sized hailstones north of Calgary this afternoon. We're having a second night of lots of lightening. The air has been full of smoke from forest fires for a number of days now, and we have been in a heat wave. Almost makes me long for winter weather.

websister, hope the biopsy report is nothing to worry about. Great attitude to not lose sleep about it. How's the ankle doing? When you are back in August, let's plan a get together and hope we can snag mo and benny, too.

Adagio and Caitlyn....I'm betting on good MO reports for you both.

    Hi 😎,

Positive happy and joyful EDI here 😀.

Websister, wishing you good news. Your photo on f/b of you and Paisley is so beautiful.😃

Nihahi, funny to think you are following the golf which is  literally 10 minutes away from my home. Traffic around here pretty grim but only every four years. George Clooney is staying in next village and local ladies are planning how to meet him !! He is in a gated estate and lock picking lessons needed 😏. Our Bingo pub has huge A board outside with last refreshments and toilet stop before the motorway written on it, businesses are doing well 😀. This will amuse you girls it seems they are charging 12 dollars for one cooked sausage at the course refreshment stalls. 😢 now that is a bit much. Local cafes will be doing well but heaven help anyone who doesn't take in their own food/drink. Just like Wimbledon and the strawberries.Hailstones where you are sound horrendous !!

Adagio, how are things going  You must be getting excited.😀💒. Choir singing at a wedding this afternoon, rain really bad today 😕 Sang at one yesterday and sun was cracking the flags !!It was such a lovely service until one of the little flower girls dropped a huge box of crayons just as the vicar asked if any one knew a reason not to go ahead. Thought the happy couple were about to faint !! There is a little area where kiddies can sit and draw and read and she knocked them off the table 😬 she did it again later in the middle of a reading by the grooms Mum, not funny.😠 Good luck with mo.

Momof, sorry you have to leave your peaceful retreat.Think of you when working in our charity/thrift shop. I come home with all sorts and have to smuggle them in and hide them from DH 😁 had some super bargains.

Caitlin, good luck with mo too. You must be worn out with all your travelling.

Liefie, Have a glorious time with your beautiful family. 😀

Have to dash and get looking clean and tidy for the wedding, must root out my wellingtons too.

    Love to all 😍

    hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone can help me, I went for a routine check up 2 weeks ago and they found a 3cm lump in my cancer boob and another under my arm, they took me straight up to the evening clinic and I had a mammo, US and needle biopsy which come back inconclusive so I went back the following Monday for a core biopsy and had to wait till last Friday for the results....can't tell you how scared I was going in for the results because the BS had already told me they think the cancer is back as it looks and feels like a tumour

Anyway it turned out to be a big hard lump of fat necrosis that appently can mimic a tumour on a mammo and US, I can't tell you how relieved I was but I'm sure you girls understand that, it's really painful and quite large, has anyone else had this a year after surgery? I've got a follow up on Wednesday and I want to ask for it to be removed, will they do that if it's not malignant? I just want it gone

Edi great news on the scan results...

jackpot.....no personal experience with fat necrosis, but some of the recon ladies have talked about it. Some of them have had it resolve by doing nothing, some have had success with lots of massage, some have had it removed during followup stages of surgery. So sorry for the scare, so glad it turned out to be a "non". If it is large and painful, I would think they would remove it if you request them to.

edi....I'll look for you on tv when they do the "scenic" shots!!!! Start waving and I'll spot you!!!! Oh, say "hi" to George for me!!!! (love those eyes of his.....)
