Here we are! in the front is CuterWCurves and from left to right, the rest are Scottie1, lassie11, Isabelle2, Joanne_53, mumito, Sugar77, Luah, Kayfh, Schatzie14, and momtomygirls.  We were sorry that some people had to cancel. Because of that, some who were there found it necessary to take some of Isabelle's most delicious peach pie home with them. We also enjoyed Joanne's bum and boobie cookies and were pleased that the restaurant people were so  fine with us bringing in dessert that they provided the take home containers. Cuter thoughtfully provided frames so we could preserve photos. There was much conversation and talk about doing this again.

Thanks for the pic.  I am so sorry that I was unable to make it. As some of the ladies there know, I love attending the get togethers.  It was a tough work week (everyone else is on vacation) and my acupuncturist was away.  Thank goodness she is back tomorrow and I will be more than ready to be her pin cushion.

Did you raise a glass to our dreamwriter?  She was another one who hated missing out on these meeting.

Drat!  I have thought of Dreamwriter several times lately and didn't remember to have a toast to her.  The first time we were in NOTL I drove her and well recall her quick and helpful reaction when we witnessed (and almost joined) a car accident on the 401 on the way back. She remains in our thoughts.

I won't be hurt if anyone else posts photos.

Cuter....the frames were so thoughtful, and thank you for organizing everything.

Lasso....thank you for helping me find this thread.

I do hope we can do more of these get togethers. I need tons of help with not being so anal about everything. Even I don't want to be with me😝....how do I get around that one?

I'm so jealous I never got any pie Lol! Really bummed that I had to cancel lasr minute. My Mom totally refused to go to hospital. The nurse dressed her leg wound and they took her vitals and they were all fine. These falls are happening fairly regularly so its quite concerning.

It was so lovely meeting you all... And spending time with you today.

Scottie1 you are so sweet... Lovely to meet you.

lassie11 I love how straight forward you are!

Isabelle2 the pies were delightful but not nearly as delightful as you.

Joanne_53 you have such a sunny disposition... I love it! Excatly as I pictured you from reading your posts! Great cookies too.

mumito you are a pleasure... We will certainly do coffee sometime!

Sugar77 you remind me so much of a friend from down south. I kept waiting for a southern drawl. Not sure why. LOL!

Luah it was lovely meeting you. Sorry we didn't get to chat more...

Kayfh my hat is off to you... you did exceptionally well following both tables conversations and being a part of them. I think I would have failed if I had sat where you did.

Schatzie14 it was lovely getting to chat when we did... Though it really should have been for longer. I guess I should have popped to the other table for a time!

momtomygirls it was great chatting with you at the end there. Do post every now and again... ;-) You have wonderful things to say!

Hello there to all the wonderful Canadian ladies!

I just want to share with you an experience I recently had with my radiologist here in the USA.

I went for my diagnostic mammo/us recently and asked to speak to the radiologist when it was done because I had some issues with them refusing to ultra sound new lumps and the areas where I had pain in my breast (that's what I was there for as well as a follow-up for a lump on previous mammo/us). When the radiologist came in, I asked my questions. He gave me his reason: the order wasn't specific to those areas and he couldn't do it otherwise. Of course I was not pleased with this. He then proceeded to tell me that if we were in Canada, I would not be allowed to speak him. Then he continued on to say that in Canada only so many mammos are allowed to citizens each year and that if, for instance, there were only 500 allowed this year and I was patient 501, no matter how bad I needed a mammo, I would not get one. I would have to wait till the next year. I believe his statements to be complete ridiculousness. However, I would LOVE to have your input and reactions so that I may confront him with facts.

Please forgive me for intruding on your thread. Feel free to PM me if you would rather respond that way. I hope you have/had a wonderful visit with each other.

    God bless you all.

Nikkis...thanks for your questions. I will try to answer them as best I can. Firstly, there are so many untruths said about our healthcare system that come from the US media. I listen to them often on FOX etc.

It is said we are told when and where we can see a Doctor...this not the case. We have nothing even similar to your HMOs. While it is true we cannot have more than one PCP at a time, unless there is a good reason, we can get any testing we need done through our family physician. I have personally never heard about this limit on mammos or anything else for that matter. I am 68 and in all my years, have never been told I can't have any test my Dr. wants me to have. I live in Ontario and our healthcare is different in each province. I can only speak from my experience here.

As for not being able to see the radiologist, that is for the most part true. When the mammos are done, they are taken by a technician who consults with the radiologist who usually checks them in detail at a later time. I have never asked to see him/her but I don't imagine you could. As far as I have been told, all results are sent to your family doctor first UNLESS the Radiologist wants to talk to you. I have with other xrays, been asked to wait while the tech gets the radiologist to come and take a look at the screen etc.

I hope I have answered some of your questions and I am sure you will get many differing experiences. I can only speak from my own.

I have had many recalls and double checks any new changes with the girls have been dealt with right away. Maybee i am just lucky with my G,P I have been always treated promptly and never turned down if there was a concern. Hope this helps. This is my experience. Take care hon,

Nikki, I want to reiterate what has been said already. Our health care system is not perfect but i wouldn't trade it. There are no limits as you stated. I just shook my head too while reading. Your RAdiologist is so misinformed.

Schatzi ... I'm with you at your appointment -- let us know how it went.

I had a wonderful time yesterday. It was really great to have faces to go with names.

In response to Nikki... In April I had an abdominal USS, it seemed to me to be interminable. The technologist kept looking, marking... Then she said I would like the radiologist to have a look. He came in, introduced himself and told me that because they were looking for a return of mets in my liver that they must look very slowly and very carefully. (no duh). He looked where she was concerned, took a teachable moment to explain to her, and me, what they were seeing. At the end of it he wiped the gel off my belly and said: "go and stay well, there is no evidence of a recurrence.". So much for not getting to talk to the radiologist.

It was a radiologist who did my original biopsy, my liver biopsy, and who inserted my port. All people I had never met before. All of who treated me with dignity and respect. I don't feel as if their humanity, attention to detail, and professionalism is in any way rationed by virtue of our universal healthcare system.

So not true about Canadian healthcare (at least in Ontario) - I have personally met with two radiologists about two different problems with my scans - have had every mamo and now U/S on schedule, which for me is every three months - still have CT scans every six months - meet with doctors whenever I feel the need (or they do) have a fabulous PCP who is copied on everything at MY request - I was treated in the beginning in the U.S. (because I was residing there at the time) and my doctors down there never once "poor mouthed" the Canadian system - I think your radiologist is totally unprofessional - time to educate him!

Nikki, I have met many, many radiologists as it's them that do our biopsies!!! I've even gotten to know some by name before they re-introduce themselves! Your guys was just spewing crap. There is also NO limit on number of mammos. Why would there be?? Would the machine sit idle for the last 3 months of the year because they'd already done their quota??? NOT!

That pie looks to die for!!!! I am gutted to not have been there, but did have a nap in y'all honour!! hehehehehheehe This new level of morphine is working very, very well. I'm taking the break-through meds before I need them, like if I head out for a walk, so that I don't reach the point that I DO need them.

Count me in for the next meeting. I like houses better, though, as we can mingle.... Lassie was very sweet to email me pics as the event moved forward so I kinda felt like I was there, but without the pie....

Nikki - I'm glad you asked your question. What the radiologist was saying was pretty much one of the main Republican talking points against any sort of universal care - that it involves rationing of health care. Clearly that is nonsense. Our health care is not rationed and saying it with the authority of a doctor still does not make it true. Shame on him for spouting propoganda that is just plain false.
