Happy the perkey tofurkey's are not causing you any discomfort.

The worst SE's are diminishing.. the bone pain - and I am keeping them at bay with painkillers.   Everything else is bearable and I hope to be able to say in another couple of weeks I feel good and dont need to go back to the BGC for more Smile  Thanks for asking.

I was chatting with a friend from work and she was asking how the SE's were and I was reeling off when I expect this se to start and that one to finish etc.... and she thought it was funny how I pretty much knew what ones would come next and what ones would end... oh! the joy of being a chemo grad

Tazzy - I also love the smiley, nice and big, just like that - I needed it today. I am preparing for my surgery tomorrow. I will phone in about half an hour for my time.

My GP contacted me via email yesterday and told me she was sorry to hear of all that was going on for me right now. She said that she had received the results from my surgeon and asked how I was doing. I thought that was very nice of her to do.

I don't have a choice re: mastectomy due to the location and the size and grade of the tumor but if I did have choice I would go ns/ss.

I also wanted to thank everyone for their responses to my question re: people with advice and comments. I love CindyL's re: My friend tried that. She died. I can honestly use the comment as I had a cousin who chose not to treat and go natural remedies and that is what happened to her.

Wishing you all a good day

Many thanks to those of you who responded about ss/ns. Just heard back from my surgeon and seems they always try to do ss with patients getting reconstruction - so I'll at least get that. But alas the size and placement of the tumor on my left side means I am not a candidate for ns - and they don't recommend it on the right side for sake of symmetry. Guess I could push it if I feel strongly, but not sure I do. Have to think about it. But I'll take what I can get in regards to the skin sparing choice!

websister - good luck making it through the rest of today and with all that awaits you tomorrow. If you have any tips on how to keep your sanity the day/night before surgery once you're settled back home - I'll be all ears.  I'm at 12 days and counting. Today I'm attempting to keep my sanity before tomorrow's PET scan and eventual results next week (why do all my tests happen before a weekend? makes the wait for results a total drag). I'll be sending you good vibes all night and day tomorrow!

Hope everyone else out there is feeling as good as can be expected!

Thinking of you websister.  Hope you manage to get a decent nights sleep.   And a wonderful gesture by your GP,  means so much when they care.  Check back in when you are up to it.   We may not be sitting by your bedside websister... but we are there in spirit.

My girls are both on playdates out of the house and my son is napping. It is so silent here! I am watching and Netflix movie and enjoying myself immensely.

Facebook users...do you have friends that feel the need to post pictures of their every meal?  I just saw yet another post and my stomach flipped.  At least magazine pictures and recipe sites are professionally photographed and at least look somewhat appetizing?!!!  Sorry for the mini-rant.  I am not safe anywhere!  Sealed

websister- will be thinking of you tomorrow, hoping all goes well!

Tazzy- love the smiley face. I can't wait to be a chemo grad too. One week from tomorrow, not that I'm counting or anything.

jpmomof3-it sounds like your son has a great idea with the nap.

vballmom-you get the meals too huh?  If it is not that, it's some poster with a "cute" saying of somekind on it. I would rather they let me know what's going on in their life. (other than meals)

Was looking for some inspirational quotes tonight and thought I'd share a few that resonated with me at this early point in my journey. You've all travelled more miles than me so far, but maybe they'll bring a smile to your faces or lift your hearts a bit.

"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful." ~ Barbara Bloom

"Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts - it's what you do with what you have left." ~ Hubert Humphrey

"To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another" ~ Katherine Paterson

"Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow." ~ Philip Gulley

Good night and sleep well beautiful ladies!

Glad the quotes spoke to some of you.

jazlaumir - congrats; rest up and feel good!

websister - sending good thoughts your way today!

jpmomof3 - sending you high energy vibes so you can get through work!

As for me - I'm never up this early (I have the best children in the world - they could sleep the morning away if I let them...), but I had to wake myself up to fill my belly before my 6-hour pre-PET scan fast. Holding onto that 3rd quote I sent as I embark on an over the weekend wait for the results... Wishing you all a lovely, cool, dry day. It's hot and wet here in NY.

Good morning all,  I am at work.  Luckily I did fal alseep again.  Played a few rounds of word with friend on my phone in bed.  Relaxed the brain a bit.  I am over my worst side effect day from my last chemo treatment.  From her on I am good to be feeling better each day, i just know it.  I have my post chemo/pre-surgery MRI and mammo on Monday.  Looking forward to seeing the results of that.

Ramols, good luck on the CT scan.  Sorry you have to wait the weekend to get the results, I remember that feeling very well.  Hope you can just find something fun to do this weekend that takes your mind off all of this crap.

I think my biggest stress from that initial testing was the BRCA test. My decisions on surgeries and when to do chemo was hinging on that test. They delayed mine too since there was a chance that I was going to have to pay the 4000 price tag for it and the company had to call me to approve that they run the test.  They called me and left a message which I promptly returned and then the woman took 3 days to return my repeated calls.  I was fuming when I finally got her on the phone and then she causally says oh, that will be about 2 weeks for the results.  I know that someone else that got their blood work sent the same day had gotten her result already.  I went up the ladder and amazingly the result was there the next day.  I felt like i had passed the hardest test of my life when I got that result.  My heart was going about 200 per minute when the phone call came.

Hoping for good results for you!

I hope everyone on the east coast can stay cool, I am not going outside today unless its to go to my car...

I hope everyones side effects are minimal today and that those that just had surgery are on the road to recovery.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks jpmomof3. Sorry you had such a nightmare with testing. Right now my dr's office is handling all my billing issues, but I've started a folder of documents in case things creep up on me. It is really unfortunate that people have to deal with this nonsense when all they should really have to do is focus on getting healthy. What a sad commentary on our health system. I decided to go ahead and choose bilateral despite BRCA results. My grandma had two separate breast cancers about 5 years apart and had to go through mastectomy/treatment all over again. In the back of my mind I'm kind of just assuming it's going to come back positive and then I'll be relieved if/when it doesn't. I get that test next Tuesday. It felt very liberating to make a surgery decision early on in the game and decide to just stick with it. I can imagine it is a big cloud over your head thinking about what the best decision is. And today my mantra is - if I envision a clean scan, I'll get a clean scan. :) Glad you're feeling on the up after your txt. Stay cool!

Jaz - yay... you did it.   Your next chapter is ready for you and you will be on the road to recovery.   Look forward to hearing from you when you are up to it.

Jpmom... you had the opposite issue to me.  First time last night I slept properly since 7 days PFC (I love saying that).   Happy you managed to get some sleep in.   Isn't it a wonderful feeling jp - that we are over our worst days.   Stay cool there.    We are proof that chemo is doable.

Ramols... thinking of you and sending good vibes for a clear scan.   Doesn't matter how far into treatment we get, the waiting still sucks.   I was like that as a kid/baby  too.   My Mum said that she used to hold a mirror under my nose to make sure I was breathing as I wouldn't wake even for food.  A blessing ?

To those waiting on results, healing from surgery I am thinking of you all and sending good positive healing  vibes.

Welcome WH - this is a great thread - happy you found your way here.

It is Canada Day here Sunday (July 1) so a stat day on Monday.... Not that it makes any difference to me who isn't working, but will be nice to have DH home for 3 days.   Nice that I actually feel up to joining in with some of the celebrations/parades this weekend - just hope our weather holds up.... Looking very stormy and showery.

    Peace & hugs xxxxxxx

jpmomof3-Keep us posted on your MRI and Mamm on Monday and hope that the tests shows what you and your doc expected from chemo.

ramols-Good luck with your CTScan and hoping for a clear one, let us know how it went!

Tazzy-Good to hear that the worst of the SEs are over and enjoy your 3 days with DH. My SIL and her family live in Canada too!

Home from scan; was painless, but the fast gave me a killer headache, which is making me naseous and not interested in eating. And they neglected to tell me before I went that I'll be too radioactive to be around my kids for the rest of the day - boo. So I'm gonna go treat myself to a nap and hide out in my room for the rest of the day. Is this what I have to look forward to once chemo starts? I realize this is only a small, small taste of it.

Hope you're all doing well today.

Ramols.. you'll be happy to hear that you are not radioactive with chemo...blimey can you imagine if we were?  All of of together we'd be able to light the earth at night Laughing

You may not feel like eating but make sure you keep drinking water - that flushes the dye from your system.  Do you have any of those protein shakes or meal replacements - try one of them.    Rest up and tomorrow is a new day.

Hope you are all managing to smile and enjoy the day.

Sorry you arent feeling well ramols, hope that headache goes away fast.  Chemo wont make you glow though that Adriamycin sure turned my urine red... my chemo nurses always advised douple flushing the toilets for a day or so after an infusion of that stuff.

Today I had a crazy light feeling of- so my oncotype was high and had a few issues, so I had to wait 4 weeks for rsults! So my BS ONLY recommended BMX (which I did) so I had chemo!so I don't know what hormone stuff will be like!

So I still have exchange surgery somewhere ahead! Whatever!!

Maybe it's because much if it is done. I didn't exactly know what BMX would do to breast sensation., oh well, at least I have no breasts for it C to come back to. And no radiation.

A friends said something g today about me having cancer...I smiled and said that as far as I knew, I didn't have it now!
