Budwig protocol?

I've had hep c since 71 and i did a stretch of research on flax seed oil and just flax seed for 5 years before i finally tryed it.I bought it from a farmer in Montana. He had a light brown and a yellow flax seed.I alway bought the brown.I bought the flax seed oil from him to.I'd ground enough flax seed to last me about 4 days.I stored it in the frig in a dark colored jar.It would go rancid after those 4 days if i didn't use it.I put it on everything i ate even ice cream.I'd put the flax seed oil in cottage cheese and yogart and if you didn't put it in something it would gag you.It was the worst tasting something i ever swalowed. It would make you mispell your words if you thought about it,thats how bad it was.I get a blood test once a year and my doctor talks to me about my hep c and really i don't know if my liver ever got any better because i never could understand what he was saying. This is how it is if you are a veteran of a foriegn war, your doctors never talk good english.I felt much better than i did before i started using it.You can get the flax at a local health store, that i found out later. You know for the life of me i can understand how they can sell flax flour.I ground my seed in a coffee grinder. From what i've read about Joanna Budwigs life she was a healer and didn't charge but very little if any.Good Luck

Ive decided to try again. This time I will find a different brand of flax oil. The one I used (the only I could find) wasnt cooled when I bought it.
Besides the FOCC part I also drank a litre green tea and a litre fresh lemon juice each day. All Things that should be liver and gallstone friendly. My guess is I might have had some gallstones that caused no problems but on the diet they may have started to pass.
The pain is not completely gone. Some days I still feel it a Little. I will discuss it on my next app in Nov.
It's "cancer week" on Danish television and yesterday I saw a programme about a man with stage 4 prostate cancer who was given a few months to live - that was 6 years ago. He skipped all conventional treatment and has been on the Budwig diet since(from what I could understand he did the FOCC breakfast, no flour, no sugar, lots of vegetables, tea in the afternoon). He had only tried a few Vit C infusions and 2xlocal hyperthermia besides that.
So that's one success story to add. -
I wish someone could help me out about this flax seed oil thing. I seem to recall I read somewhere that some people, a rather large proportion, had difficulties digesting flax seed oil in those proportions - and I think the conclusion in whatever book it is I read this in, was that omega 3's were best optained from fish/fish oil capsules. Well I'm not sure - I think it was a book by Barbara Wren - if someone knows anything about this I would love to learn more.
I tried the FOCC thing Again and the pain above liver/below rips came back. Really strange, but must have something to do with it.
I give up on it now... -
fish/fish oil is pretty much not okay anymore because of fukashima/farm-raised. unless you can get wild-caught atlantic fish. I've just begun grinding flax seeds, no trouble, taste fine, put it in cereal. Havn't tried the flax-seed oil yet, probably a good idea. market doesn't have it: just one more thing to send for I guess -
hi... in the meantime I managed to find some more info on that flaxseed (oil) vs. fish oil. It's because the flaxseed oil contains something called ALA, alpha-linolenic-acid, which must be converted to DHA and EPA. Many things interfere with this conversion and i guess many things we still don't know about, which Means only a small percentage of the actual omega-3 can be used from the oil...
I would still like to take the flax oil but for some reason it seems im intolerant to it - get abdominal pain from it. -
the seeds do grind up nice, unlike the other things I grind up: indonesian organic cinnamon comes in bits, my spice mix: black pepper corns, dried red pepper, corriander seeds, dried bay leaf, etc, all takes many rounds of grinding to be digestible -
New Directions, maybe the pain is from your gallbladder after eating that oil. Do you normally eat a lot of fat, have you ever had gallstones? -
Vespersparrow thanks, yes I think its the gallbladder, but ohh i worried so much until symptoms started making more sense to me. I don't usually eat much fat, but must say its still a mystery, i was on the ketone diet eating quite a lot fat about a year ago - no symptoms at all. Have never had gallstone attacks or symptoms before. It seems to be linked exclusively to the flaxseed oil. -
Has anyone addressed the issue of IGF-1 in dairy, which could drive cancer? I think that would be my only concern with the Budwig Protocol. I think having high vitamin D levels is really important, and I am trying to eat at least 4 TB of ground flaxseed a day, but I don't trust dairy anymore. I've also heard some things about flaxseed oil being very unstable, so you have to be very careful in keeping it from getting rancid. For that reason I've been leaving it alone. -
I had the same concerns initially but I've been eating the FO/CC mixture since August and my tumors have decreased in size significantly. I think the chemical reaction of the oil and CC being "whizzed" together, negates the negative effect of the diary. Budwig has a book devoted to explaining how it all works; Flax Oil As A True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infarction, Cancer And Other Diseases.
I keep the Flax Seed Oil in my fridge and haven't had an issue. I order my oil direct from Barleans. I spoke to a rep at Barlean's and she assured me that its shelf stable for several months at room temp, but its best to keep refrigerated for longer storage. My 32 oz bottle only lasts 2 weeks exactly anyway at 6 tablespoons/day. I worked up to this dose over a period of 2 weeks.
-
Hi Scandophile, glad to hear your tumors have been shrinking since you've been doing the protocol! That's great!
-
Thank you Fallleaves! It has been challenging to keep on the right road at times. I was a bit discourged when the chemo didn't really work after 7 months. The natural way seems to have more efficacy.
-
I've been grinding up organic flaxseed bit by bit & putting in oatmeal in the morning. have no idea if it "works" the lesion continues to grow bit by bit, but who knows how faster or slower with the nutrients I use
-
Leia here, again.
January, 2014, the five year anniversary of my eating the FOCC every day. For those of you not reading my posts, in January 2009. that was when I was diagnosed with a BIRAD 5 cancer. Again. Which turned out to be No Cancer. BIRAD 0. With the biopsy.
January, 2009 is when I walked away from all of these MIC "treatments."
I have not had a mammogram since. Although I did have a Thermogram, September, 2011. Totally clear for 10 years. I will get another Thermogram, soon. I will never get another Mammogram.
Today I just got my latest D3 level; it was 63. Eeek. Not high enough. I will be working on that.
I just feel ... great.
-
That's Great Leia! I just LOVE my morning FOCC smoothies and will continue with this for the rest of my life. Like you, I feel fantastic and everyone around me says I have a healthy "glow" LOL!
-
Scandophile, I have totally forgotten how bad I used to feel ... the FOCC is great!
I am so glad that you discovered it, too.
It is not hard, it is easy.
To anyone reading these messages, try it. Just take 2 TBS of Flax Seed oil and mix it with 4 TBSP of Cottage cheese and a TBSP + of milk. Mix it with a stick blender. By now, I blend in some cinnamon. And then add in some mixed berries. And a packet of Stevia. A yummy breakfast.
And with the flaxseed oil I take my D3 and K2; they need oils to properly dissolve.
At the end of the day, we just need to give our bodies the nutrients, to survive.
About a week ago I could feel this sore throat/flu coming on. I know it, this dull ache, trouble swallowing. I was like, No. And I still sort of had it the next morning but then, it all went away.
I truly believe I was getting sick but my immune system killed it. That is what the D3 does along with the Omega3. Our bodies just want to live and they will if they are just given the right nutrients.
-
Leia and all,
I had the same experience about the feeling of a cold coming on. It stayed in the background for several days but never erupted fully. It was a bad one to because my work colleagues got it and they were out of work for several days with it.
My smoothie is easy to make also and I do it every morning. I mix 6 tablespoons of oil with 3/4 cup cottage cheese with a stick blender in a small container. In a separate container, I whiz up some blueberries, strawberries, a banana and some Xylitol with Unsweetened Almond Milk. Then I mix the two concoctions together in a big cup. (the 6 tbsp. of oil, 3/4 cup of CC is a therapeutic dose as the cancer is not yet in remission).
The other day I added frozen cherries, raw cacao and hemp seeds. This morning I added some Garden of Life Raw protein powder. You can flavor up the smoothie however you like it as the FOCC mixture acts as the base.
I have a PET scan tomorrow so will know how things are going when I see my doctor next with the results.
-
Scandophile, let us know the results of your PET scan. Your diagnosis is way worse then mine, by a huge margin.
I admire you ... you are doing what is right for your body.
I think that Dr. Budwig's biggest mistake is that she just cured people in her lifetime. She was 95 when she finally died, Of just old age. Perhaps she should have concentrated more on research and papers that could have carried on to the future.
At least there are the few of us, carrying on the mantle.
But that is not a burden, for me. As I have said, it is the Single Thing that changed my life, for the better. And perhaps for you, too.
And to those of you interested in Budwig, go the Flaxseedoil2 group on Yahoo.

Scandophile, I will be looking for the updates on your situation.
-
I've had to try something different because I got gallstone symptoms from the flaxseed oil. Now I try hemp seed oil instead and I've bought a coffee grinder for flax seeds. I mix in some hemp protein as well and use high protein yogurt.
I've begun sprouting broccoli and want to grow wheatgrass as well...
-
Hi New Direction,
I am sorry that you are having a reaction to the flax seed oil. I think the main thing is to find a way to get Omega-3s in your body in a form that your cells will easily absorb.
-
Thank you Leia,
I appreciate that. You know its strange, but I don't take too much stock in my diagnosis anymore as I don't feel that it defines me. I have just as much opportunity to live as the next person in my humble opinion. We all have our own journey, and I plan to have a very long one, if at all possible so I will just keep going! If something happens, fair enough. I will deal with it at the time but I refuse to worry about it now.
I will keep you posted for sure!
-
Scandophile, my best friend's husband was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 15 years ago. The docs said his heart was working at only 15% capacity.
He is still alive, today. At the time of his diagnosis, they gave him little time. Like less than one year. And here he still is. Something is amiss, here. Either he overcame it or the diagnosis was wrong.
You have exactly the right attitude!
All that any of us can do is what is right, for ourselves. All we have is our own journey.
I will be looking forward to your updates ....
-
To ScandOpuile - I have started to have the same attitude about life. I will live it to the fullest and
Let go of the worry I wake up with each day. Dx in Aug 2013 and I stopped planning the holidaysl
I refused to shop for myself (clothing) thinking its a waste. Well, in the last two weeks I have
Changed my outlook. I bought myself the $150 boots I saw and loved and I am thinking about
My birthday in March. When my time comes there is nothing I can do about it. I am following
My onc. Protocol, eating strictly organic, exercising and doing my best to have a good quality
Of life. Worrying is a hindrance to the body. I will worry when it is time to worry.
Wishing us all a long and worry free life.
Barb

Amen Barb!! You got it righ too! I am making plans well into retirement. I am not letting go of my hopes and dreams.
Thanks Leia! PET scan went smoothly but have to wait until next Tuesday to get my results. I've also sent off for an HCG Navarro urine analysis test and am awaiting those as well. Last result was 52.6 which is in the positive for cancer range (1-49 being negative). Fingers and toes crossed that it shows a good result. Where do you go for your Thermograms? I would like to see if that is something I can do also.
-
righton, scandophile & all. when I got my first showing in march 2011, I thought I'd probably be dead before the family reunion in sept. I knew nothing about cancer at the time, like someone here posted I pretty much didn't know there was more than one kind except for some old info gary null had on his site
-
Hi Everyone, Great news - the PET scan shows NED! The cancer that was in my liver and spine are completely gone! This is without surgery or radiation. Just Herceptin, Perjeta and radical dietary changes that include the Budwig smoothie every morning. I even finally got my Oncologist to admit that my actions have directly impacted this outcome.

Next step is Brain MRI on the 30th. Then in March is my next breast Ultra-Sound. Hopefully, these two will also show NED!
-
Hallelujah!! That is awesome! So happy for you..
-
Scando - Congratulations! that's really great news - and I'm pleased to hear a doctor admitting lifestyle changes has an effect. It just doesn't make sense it shouldn't when diet and exercise can be used for prevention.
When I had my chemo about a year ago there actually was a trolley circulating with cakes, chips etc. They are more prone to advise not to lose weight than to eat healthy. It's close to a scandal in my opinion.
-
Wow, that is awesome Scandophile! I'm so happy for you, and impressed at the results you've gotten. I guess just keep on doing what you are doing! Hope your other scans are as great.
-
Thank you so much ladies!!!! I am cautiously optimistic still and will be much more convinced once my Navarro HCG Urine test comes back negative. It just came back as 54. (Under 50 is negative). 54 is still a good score but its up from my last test of 52.6. I understand that its measuring the HCG and not the actual cancer, but this is the test that my protocol is advising to get under 50, so that is my ultimate goal to assure that I am truly where I need to be. In the meantime I will just keep plugging along.
@NewDirection - Yeah! At my Onc's office Tuesday the nurse went around offering everyone chocolates! When I go went to the PET scan the Radioligist office had cookies and coffee on hand for patient refreshments. I just shook my head and said aloud, "Really??"
At my Onc's office, everyone knows me as the "Healthy One." Gee, you'd think more people would be interested in what I was doing considering how well its going, but sadly, I don't get asked. The only person who has really asked me any indepth questions was my Ultra-Sound Tech & Radiologist.
