Another summer lunch in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

I think everyone should post their recipes.

Okay, here is my 7 grain salad recipe.
1. Get in car and start driving.
2. Stop at your nearest Longo's grocery store. Do you have those in the US?
3. Go to deli section and scan available salads.
4. Pick up 7 Grain Salad. Any size.
5. Proceed to cash register. Pay. Return home. Serve.
Enjoy!

PiP, I'm shocked!
...
...
...
...
I thought it was Wegman's!

-
That's my kind of recipe! I can do that!
-
-
Pip .. you crack me up ... now that's my kind of cooking!
hugs,
Bren
-
I'm w/PiP. My DH does the shopping unless I get a bug up my you-know-what and I cook.
-
Best Recipe. Ever.
-
Looking for the "Like" button!
-
Lassie .. thanks for the Hortons coffee .. it was wonderful. Sure had fun being your copilot! Hope to see you again!
hugs,
Bren

Well, one thing is clear to me now. I do believe we've stumbled upon a major cause of breast cancer. Obviously, being a beautiful, friendly, intelligent, and caring woman is a HUGE risk factor!
-
You are so welcome, Bren. As I said, if you haven't had a Tim Horton's coffee, you haven't been to Canada. It was really great to have such an excellent co-pilot.
-
Thank you to all who thought my missive about Elizabeth was her. I told Linda I first hesitated about writing her and asking for her to read it with the toast, I posted it on her memorial page some time ago. When I got home and logged on, she said it was well received. I cried. There it goes again. I can't think of her without tearing up, and getting that hollow feeling in the stomach. So happy you all got to share each other. These are the moments in life best remembered
So, now when you see the stars, you can think of our Konakat
-
Sas: It was really lovely.
PIP: Love Longo's, saves me every time!
Thenewne: You are so right. I have met so many warm, intelligent, wonderful women through this BC crap.
Bren: If you refer to it as "your Timmies" (rather than a Horton coffee), you will be mistaken for a true Canadian, you may even fool the border guards.

-
Some remarks:
1. My oldest LOVED that chocolate cake. The youngest he hates chocolate.
2. I'M NOT A PRO! Really.
3. Costco sell a great 9-grain (I think) salad which I find very yummy. Much cheaper than Longo's, too.
4. You all are amazing.
-
Yan .. it was so wonderful to meet you. And you are a pro. Your photos are beautiful!
hugs,
Bren
-
I don't know I kinda like the "horton's" coffee designation myself. I LOVED the 7 grain salad and the tabouleh and ate two helpings of each - like that the 7 grain came from Longo's - easy!
SAS - loved the piece you wrote about Elizabeth - so thoughtful.
-
My "Secret " Brownies
Meijer (or other store brand) brownie mix (with 1 cup chocolate chips added) prepared according to directions frosted with one container of Pillsbury cream cheese icing. Add raspberries after you frost the brownies.
How's that for haute cuisine?
-
Oh Rosemary...we are such chefs aren't we?
Chocolate and cream cheese. You just can't go wrong with that combination! -
sas it was the perfect thoughtful thing to do...a friend who could not attend sent a letter for my father's memorial and it was so touching.
On a lighter note, I hear my husband turned down cake for the road!
It was so fun to meet all y'all. I wish we had more time.
-
Hey Pip.....hello!
Wow ladies! What a gathering!!! 19-20 of you? Fantastic! It is nice to put a face to a name thanks for the great picture! You all crack me up, the excitement could be felt thru my screen! Hope the gatherings continue in the future, you've got a good thing going!
Cheers! Viv

If anyone wants the recipe for the quinoa recipe, let me know. It's very easy. The chocolate cake was delicious Also the peaches I got at the fruit shack were the absolutely best peaches ever. I'm going to use them to make a dessert and my kids want the rest
-
I wasn't sure I could take the peaches across the border

-
hrf -
I do I do! Was the quinoa salad the one with the little brownish almost-sprouted looking grains and all the wonderful veggies?
-
hrf: I'd like the recipe too. Always looking for great ways to serve quinoa.
-
Pip, love your 'recipe' - on my way to Costo, thanks Yan.
I learn so much from all of you - including to SMILE, SMILE SMILE as often as possible. Would LOVE to read KK's "letter" - do you think it could be posted -if not, I'll happily send someone my emai address. Thanks...
I have a STAR story myself, which is why it's giving me the chills, literally.
-
What do you mean 'star story'? Give me some goosebumps!
-
HRF - me too, me too!
-
