    Jazz a former co worker was dx lung cancer. Don't know what stage. She had chemo and rads, 3 years later she is doing GREAT!!!!

    You can always tell the locals from the tourists in winter!! They are like, this is Florida, it's January, IM WEARING SHORTS, my sunburn hurts and there's 10 feet of snow back home.

    The locals look like nanook of the north with boots and parkas. Even our dogs wear coats. image

    Spookie- that is good to hear. I have known several who have had the dx and done okay. My friend says she is doing chemo and rads, and eventually surgery. She said in her note that she is Stage 2, but that the tumor is in a difficult spot to do surgery. So I think they are going to hit it with the others stuff first. I hope to talk to her tomorrow.

    That sounds like my friend too. No surgery. She is being watched with labs and stuff, still has the port. Her hair came back nice. She is so busy it's hard to snag her for lunch!!

    The temps bouncing from one extreme to the next is nuts. Yesterday I was in long pants, today shorts! C'mon Mother Nature get back on your meds and make up your mind already!

    I moved my long sleeve T shirts into my closet on hangers. I kept a few short sleeve ones out just in case. Our high yesterday was 63 and it's supposed to be 61 today and raining. I will be inside at the senior center.

    thanks Lover. Still have summer clothes on. Still sleep with fan running. I'm house, kids, and animal sitting this week. At my sisters now with one of her grandkids. Same tomorrow then not back until Monday, maybe. I'll get back to my "normal" next week.

    Sorry to hear about your friend Jazzy, hope she does well.

    Going to try and do some crocheting. Going to make DS a hat with a beard covering he's been wanting. Wish me luck

    Jazzy, bummer about your friend. Seems like people are getting cancer left and right. Makes you wonder what is going on.

    Ms. Smaarty, you are one creative and energetic lady. Wish I had your talents and stamina.

    Ms. Sas and Ms. BLONDIE, thank you. Hubby is okay. He is with the local friends so they know which area they need to avoid. Petroleum situation is getting worse. He is flying out this Sunday and we hope the planes will have access to gasoline. Otherwise, he and many others will have a long unintended visit. Good thing he booked Cathay Pacific, which belongs to Hong Kong. As far as I know, Nepal only has 2 aircrafts that fly internationally and is on the list of air carrier banned by the EU.

    Ah geez Loverly! Where IS he again? I know our friend Rosie's Husband had to travel to India last year, to help train the local people for the Century Link phone co. here.... He took a lot of pictures, which are similar to these.... such a poor country.... You said he is in the Orient? I forgot where!

    Yes, Ms. Chevy, we are blessed to live in America where corruption is not as bad as developing countries. DH is in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Got an email from him earlier. Despite the danger and difficulties, he is happy that he is able to help the friends and people there. He brought 2 large luggages full of coats,clothes, and supplies of personal hygiene to distribute. Wish he could carry more. Also, he was able to help some financially.

    Mema- I have no idea about balloon stuff? Just look at them when they fly?

    Chevy- that article does not surprise me. I knew a woman here who decided to do something similar for her bc treatment. I think I have shared this story here before, on this thread or maybe on others. I did not know her well, we were colleagues at a job I was new to at the time, but she did all kinds of supplements, fasting, colon cleanse stuff, etc. I think there are many things that can be addressed without more extreme medical care, but cancer does not seem to be one of them. My friend went around pushing the products too afterward she went through the first occurrence, instead of taking care of herself. Her cancer kept coming back and she did not tell people and kept pushing the products still. She was upset with me I would not drink the Koolaid. Her cancer came back 3-4 times until it took her. Just something I will never forget. There will always be people selling a miracle cure to people desperate for one.

    loveroflife, so cool your husband is doing that. Prayers and hugs his way. And yours while you are praying for his safety and his return. Must be hard for you, it would be for me. Happy they are helping, and hoping all goes well.

    Mission trips my family has been on we're very very organized. I didn't worry.

    Seeing all that goes on, does put thing into perspective. We are such a small part of a big wide world

    This was on MSN today. It's a 1.4 mile wide river in India (can't remember the name) that when it gets cold it puffs this foam substance that the wind blows all over the place. If it touches your skin then you have an ugly burning rash. Says it takes some time to get it to settle down. no chit sherlock! Think about lung cancer and this has been going on for over a decade

    It's in Bangalore at a lake area called Bellandur. It's toxic foam from chemical and sewage waste; when it rains the lakes rises and creates foam; it's also flammable. The gov't says they are treating it with water, stirring it at a high speed so the foam doesn't touch people!

    How frightening that would be. I'm not happy that some of our companies are sending dangerous things overseas because they're illegal here. We're all in this world together. We shouldn't be trashing any place.

    Loverly, Oh yes, I'm a senior. Almost as old as Chevy. Senior centers are great because most of the people are there to do fun things. I volunteer as a receptionist one afternoon a week. Two of the cooks are in their 90s and going strong. The director is younger but a real live wire. Really enthusiastic about getting people involved.

    OH MY DEAR, those poor people who have no choice but to live there. This reminds me of the time when similar situation (much less serious, I think) occurred in the neighborhood where I grew up in VN. Our house was about less than a quarter of a mile from a detergent manufacturering company called Viso. At a certain time of the day, you could see foams floating in the air and landed wherever the breeze took it. If you had your clothes drying on the clotheslines, you could be sure that you would have white residues covering most of them by the time your laundry was dry.

    India is the third richest country in the world by 2015 GDP. The rich is very rich, but the poor is very poor. Similar to Nepal, they have the caste system so it's very hard for the lower caste to improve their socialeconomic conditions because of discrimination and exploitation.

    Ah Ms. Wren, I was not sure. You have talked about your grandkids, but I couldn't tell. It's wonderful that you stay busy by volunteering. Do you volunteer at the animal shelter too, or am I confusing you with Kiwi from W&F
