Luvmygoats- I saw some trees turning to yellow on my drive up to SF, which seemed early. But we have also had a cooler than normal spring and summer due to all the rain. We only get yellows here, not the firey orange, red and yellow combos of the northeast. I am originally from New England so I miss the falls there. Well, the summers too and the beach time. That being said, I still love the desert.

Hahaha Deb! My DD is a teacher, and I was a school bus driver for waaaaaay to many years. In our break room, on the first day, some tired person would write, one down, 179 to go.

Here's a picture of my Bucky. He and the others were a rescue. Bought them from someone who was not treating them well just to give them a good home. They were about six months old, too old to dehorn. Bucky is very gentle, but the horns are certainly a hazzard. He could poke your eye out just turning his head! The girls are much smaller, they are dwarfs. These are our first goats. It has been a real learning experience.

I'd love to see pictures of your herd.

Oh he's for sure at least part Nubian with those ears. I think Nigerian Dwarfs have more the curled horns. My goats do the funniest things, throw their head back and circle heads. I thought one goat the old herd queen had taught them this oddball maneuver. I think looking at in the last few years they may be trying to scratch their backs with the nonexistent horns. HaHa your fence looks like mine. Mine have never tried to escape. The only one that tore down any fence was the short time buck who went thru a fence to get to Mr. Bucky with his doe. He left not too long after that. Never tried collars. I did have plastic chain on one girl. She was my love Nellie (aka Sea Nymph), my avatar. She lived with #1 Mr. Bucky for about a year. The does hated her (most of my foundation came from one herd and she was an outsider) and she was much better with him. She died way too young from anal skin cancer. I'll see if I can get DH to dig up some pics tomorrow. I could no way get those on here.

BTW - the Lady Grey made very good iced tea. Yesterday was cold leftover iced coffee day with a squirt of whipped cream.

Zills - I think DH is making an Amazon order tonight or tomorrow. Any tea recommendations? I see Taylors of Harrogate has a "tearoom" blend loose tea. I'm willing to try it. They also have a Christmas blend but not available direct from Amazon. And this as well - never heard of it - Ntingwe Kwazulu. A South African tea. BTW - what are crisps? I thought they were akin to potato chips.

Crisps are potato chips and chips are French fries. The salt and vinegar are stronger than here. Big flavor is cheese and onion. Gives horrible breath.

I don't know anything about those teas.

We may start a run on tea here lol. I decided I can buy the Yorkshire Gold locally in 2 weeks. Why waste a perfectly good Amazon order. I need to get some benefit from the Amazon Prime DH is loving and 2 day shipping is it.

Queenie - our local grocer based out in East Texas has their own brand of jalapeno chips. I must say they are good. I don't think I've had salt and vinegar ones.

OO I found a tea store in North Park in Dallas. Mapping out the maybe 5-6 hours I can spend there b4 picking up DD at Love Field. Google maps says 64 miles, 1 hour and 11 minutes from home to which I say HaHa no way. I used to live in Dallas, 35 years ago.

Luv, it's the darn summer traffic around Northpark that is the problem! Too many teenagers. Let me know about the tea shopping. It got up to 102 over here today.

Boy, I don't miss my teaching days, except dressing up the bulletin boards! I drove a school bus also when I was a single parent, helped to make ends meet.

Jazzy, I love Santa Fe. I worked for Harcourt Assessment and had the NM assessment contract so spent a lot of time there. Went there two years ago to 10K waves. First time I had actually stayed out there. That area is one of my all time favs. We're headed to New England to see the fall foliage the first week of October. I really need to get busy with some hotel reservations.

Goats: 64 miles through/around Dallas in an hour and a quarter? Can you hear the whoops of laughter from here? Not that I've ever driven through any city in Texas as an adult...but I've driven through Chicago several times.I could maybe manage that at two in the morning. If I were lucky.

A few of the national brands do salt and vinegar chips; Cape Cod's not worth the bother, but Kettle Chips's version is at least mildly interesting. Probably not a patch on the UK version though. Now dreaming of finding a shop that does tea and nothing else in Chicago....

It's been a crazy day. My daughter age 16 spent the night at my moms last night and forgot to take her epilepsy medicine. My mom called me this morning because she had a seizure than woke up with a severe headache and unable to see. Of course My husband and I rushed up to my moms house. Let's just say an ambulance ride was the last thing I expected to do this morning when I woke up. The hospital gave her benedryl, medicine to stop abdominal pain and an anti-inflammatory medicine (even though she hadn't eaten and had already had 2 ibuprofen) and IV fluids. It made her sleep but the headache went away and vision came back. They took blood but didn't run any tests on it. Between the slides and diving board at the water park, not taking her medicine last night and not drinking enough water yesterday it's no wonder. So she will definitely be seeing her daughter next week to do blood work and make sure everything's normal. Nothing worse than something being wrong with your child. I'm just so relieved she is fine and am watching her very close, which if she's home I check on her many, many times during the night anyways. Well now I am just letting her rest and enjoying some quiet time for a while. Nite everyone

Teavana in the last link is a chain. I even found one in Ft Worth. Specialty coffee shops are hard enough to come by much less tea here.

Looks like a much better selection in Chicago than Dallas.

Ah ha I looked at the map again. Part of the route is tollroad thru N Ft Worth but I still think that is a ridiculously short amount of time to drive to Dallas. It takes me 45 minutes to really get into Ft Worth downtown and hospital district.

Oh what a day!!! At 12:00 p.m. the sky was quite angry looking. You can see the lightning in the horizon.

It rained cats and dogs not very long after. We got to hear a few booms.

Boyd-so sorry for the sudden loss of your DH's cousin. It is tragic when a spouse and young children are left behind without a chance to say goodbyes. So scary what happened to your daughter.

Zill, I find that the older I get the longer it takes to recover from jet lag.

Ms Sas, I don't like to kill any insects unless they are mosquitos, cockroaches, or ants. I don't kill them (roaches and ants) unless they are in my home.

Frey, I still enjoy coloring too. It's relaxing.

Ms. BLONDIE, hope you are having quality time with your friend and family.

Ms. Smaarty-I find that when I travel abroad, if I eat small meals or even skip a meal, it really helps my stomach to adjust. If I arrive in the morning or afternoon, I try not to take naps and try to adjust to the local time right away by keeping busy. Coming back to the States is always harder. Taking melatonin before bedtime for 3-4 days helps to reset the internal clock. Have a safe and fun trip!
