what the school can do during summer is advise you how to proceed. If they don't have policy, use what Sas posted. It will also alert them this brat has done this, they can be aware of him. Impress your son this is WRONG, brat may/will do again, and get worse.

Yes, car is a 2014, still in the 36/36 warrenty. Behaved itself this afternoon.

The pixis(drug dispenser) rep told me a story of two burglars who went into a busy ER, dressed as repair men. They told the staff the pixis had to be taken out for repair. They rolled it right out of ER before anyone questioned it. It was found a few blocks away. The burglars couldn't break into it. ............This was while I was holding him hostage in the pixis room. Found him at the pixis without ID. Wouldn't let him leave until security got there to take him to the guy who should have issued him an ID. Boss didn't even say good job.

Rosie, toying with a topic thread "Errors, Omissions, and Negligence: Write your story." You could write your own story. Others too. It would be there for ever and damning those that were negligent. It wouldn't be slander or libel, if it's simple fact based information.

I worked weekends in the pharmacy in nursing school for about 6 months (1981-1982). Deep in the bowels of the hospital and unmarked. Of course this was long b4 Pyxis machines. No idea when they came into being (sometime between 1986 and 2009 is all I know lol).

Good for you Sassy for holding un-Id'd guy hostage. I worked on a small 16 bed unit when I went back in 2010 to short stint in hospital nursing. Believe you me I looked at everyone I passed.

You're right Sassy. It would be an interesting thread. Could be nasty too. Would for sure ask for No Personal ID of Doc. I would still worry about libel esp. if someone gets really riled up. I don't particularly like my MO but I think as far as standard of care he has been textbook. And he actually does tumor markers for whatever good they might do me. I've toyed I think I've said with switching to a partner, a very large group of oncologists, statewide practice. At this point in my treatment not sure it's worth the hassle. I think the 2 of them share the same general office space. The possible new one used to be out of different office.

Rosie - How many MO's have you been to locally? Sorry they all sound like they have their head buried up their you-know-whats. I've read that tumor markers are unreliable as a single # but that when they go up something is wrong somewhere and time to investigate. Can we have a group mugging of your MO? I know long weekend, when do you get results. Hope you get lots of good family time. Time for those feel good drugs.

    Ok lovemygoats

2007- corvallis- fired this onc for lying in her chart, and not ordering films, or giving me correct information. She reduced the size of the mass I watched her measure 4x5 (same as OB & surgeon) to 3x4 after the mass came back over 5cm post lumpectomy and not the 1.9cm on films. I asked about chemo first and she said surgery was fine first.. what a ditz. one visit done.

2007Portand -onc seemed ok at first then as things went on he became distracted and flaky. He seemed hardly to remember things. He didn't answer questions. I finally asked to transfer to another doctor in that practice who didn't want to take me since they shared an office. I don't think he agreed with the treatment I was given and it would have been awkward. So I left.

2007- 08Sarasota- went to a Moffat afficiated doctor near my Mom who said every 6 month visits were fine. When I showed up for my 6 moths he refused any labs or tests just saying I looked good. He was concerned because I quit Arimidex (SE) and he put me on aromasin. I questioned not doing any labs as decent surveillance and he said there was no standards. I got a referal to a breast surgeon back where I used to work at Sutter inCA. When I was there having the r mastectomy he sent a certified letter that I had to find an oncologist closer he quit.

2010- Seattle- I figured was close enough so I tried a female oncologist. She did and exam and then spent 1/2 hour explaining that there were no follow up standards of care and she would not order labs because I looked good. I guess once the Moffat doctor did no labs this started the refusal of any labs or tests.

2012 Feb Eugene- tried another doctor, who was rude and sarcastic. No labs or tests. Maybe next month, next visit. There was no next time.

2012 March - My gastroenterologist ordered a virtual colonoscopy which picked up spinal mets. She ordered a PET scan that showed wide spread mets and refered me to a Portland Oncologist. He seemed pretty thorough at first ordering biopsy, faslodex, but he ignored my sleep med requests and he was criminally stingy with pain meds..1 and 1/2 pills a day for mutliple broken ribs and spinal mets. Geez what generosity! Then he decided to leave medicine for a administrative practice. I left. I was there March 2012 -2013.

2013 March tried a female Portland oncologist who was so confrontational and aggressive she basically said "I do no tumor markers, no schedule scans or tests only when symptoms warrant it, so don't ask." Her manner was dreadful. I decided if anything progressed it would be up to me to prove it. I can't prove what I had for lunch. I went once and declined.

2014 To sick to go anywhere but local. I wanted to give up and planned to, but my kids were pitiful. So DH said try local oncology group. I had had bad experiences with radiology and pathology locally and didn't want anything to do with those areas, but I had no beef with oncology group. First meeting and he says hi. We talk and he tells me I will do labs next week when we meet again. He knew my PCP had given me several unit of blood for severe anemia and yet he wanted to wait a week. My resting HR was 120. I thought here we go again.. one for the brotherhood no labs! I asked him to do at least a CBC. He did. My hemoglobin was 5. If they waited a week that would have been the end of the story.

Rose- it sounds like the medical system has really failed you. Can you get a consult in a bigger city? I know you are not well enough to travel, but know docs in other larger cities can review charts for second opinions. Telehealth is becoming a much bigger thing in the hospitals these days as medical facilities work with patients across state lines. Might be worth asking your health insurance if you can get something at MD Anderson or one of the other bigger facilities. You are advanced and more complex case, and should be able to get that approved? I am sorry things have been so hard for you. Hugs sister.

I come from a family of control freaks and have managed to attract them (and sometimes allow them) a bit too much in my life. Not everyone has good boundaries and agree something is off with people who need to harass, cyber stalk, or otherwise badger someone. I am glad you dumped that early boyfriend. One of my stalkers was an old boyfriend I had broken up with like 15 years before. How many times do you need to be rejected dude?

Chevy- I am sending my next stalker to you! LOL!

Jazzy went to happy hour tonight.....

Yay Foots. Thank you for your prayers by the way. I love this country and make quite a big deal about my kids and their citizenship day- big celebrations. We are majorly blessed. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Ok no more talk of my medical cloud that follows me around. I got on this Africa story kick after picking up a book by Tayna Shaffer called Somebody's Heart is Burning. It's woman wanderer in Africa adventure book.. loved it. Then another one - No 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by McCall Smith. I am now on book 9.. more to go. The stories are fun and enjoyable and the characters rich and real, but it's light. You can finish one in a day or two. My DD3 and I watched a documentary on Botswana tonight from the author and she was fascinated by the orphans and this village they built for them. Aides is a problem. Since she spent time in an orphanage, it's a topic near to her heart. What a gorgeous country and lovely people, so much wildlife and no revolution and anarchy. Sweet. Healthwise it's the only traveling i can do, so I'll take it. I know lots of folks like a little light summer reading.

If you are into dogs, Merrill Markoe wrote a book called Walking in Circles Before Lying Down. Hilarious.. but only a die hard dog lover would understand. Poor woman and failed relationships pretty comical. So I hope you are all headed to the beach, lakes and rivers staying cool. I think after 7 shark attacks I would stay out of NC waters. Have a great 4th.

Hi Foots, thank you for your love. Hope the heat is not too bad for you and Faith. Yes Rose, we are truly blessed to be living in this country. Coming from a war torn communist country, where an authoritarian government dictates its citizens, I really appreciate America and the freedom we have here. I remember my dad used to listen to the BBC news on the radio in low volume for fear that the neighbors or the VC soldiers who guarded our street would hear. You couldn't own anything with western influence, especially from capitalist western countries...no music, magazines, and definitely no books. In school, we were taught that Americans are evil. My sister and I knew better because my dad fought along side American soldiers against the VC. We lived under communist government for 3 years before we escaped. Our family was lucky because dad was spared concentration/reeducation camp. Somehow, he went under the radar from the eyes of the new government. Many teachers, professors, doctors and other professionals were sent to camp and most died while they were there and I heard that those who were released later on were never the same. Strangely, I am glad I experienced the hardship and the lack of freedom in the 3 years because it has helped me to value and appreciate my adopted country. Happy Independence Day!!

Ah, you guys are so SWEET to each other! And reading all of your stories, is kind of like reading chapters in a favorite book! You all have some experience, that the rest of us enjoy reading about.

Some stories are like just heart-breaking, because of all you have to go through, just trying to live a "normal" life.... And how we put our trust in our care-takers to help us get better, trusting their advice! I should remember also, that they ARE only human.... But if they can't take care of us, get off the damn train!

A few just don't LISTEN.... but hopefully like you gals, you keep searching for someone who will understand, research your problems, order new tests, and figure out how to help you... before YOU do! I know we've all been down that road....

SOMEtimes, we can figure it out ourselves, by just knowing our own bodies, and re-searching similar problems, and THEN taking it to the Doctors and telling them "Let's try this!" Worked for me a FEW times!

Anyway.... I love you guys........... xoxo

    Train of Life

At birth, we boarded the train of life and met our parents, and we believed that they would always travel by our side. However, at some station, our parents would step down from the train, leaving us on life's journey alone.

As time goes by, some significant people will board the train: siblings, other children, friends, and even the love of our life.

Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we won't realize that they vacated their seats! This train ride has been a mixture of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.

A successful journey consists of having a good relationship with all passengers, requiring that we give the best of ourselves. The mystery that prevails is that we do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. Thus, we must try to travel along the track of life in the best possible way -- loving, forgiving, giving, and sharing.

When the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty -- we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who continue to travel on the train of life.

Let's remember to thank our Creator for giving us life to participate in this journey.

I close by thanking you for being one of the passengers on my train!

I love this poem from an anonymous author. Just want to share it with you lovely ladies. You are on the same train ride with me now. My chance of meeting you here on this earth in person is close to zero (well besides Ms Smaarty ;) ). If I don't see you here, I will see you in heaven. A phrase I borrow from a sweet stranger my DH and I met in Solvang, California years ago in a small garden near where we stayed. He was in his 80s!! We chatted and found out he had just lost his beloved wife a few months prior. He told us he comes to the garden everyday to sing hymnals and meditate. He had the most beautiful and powerful voice. We told him we were blessed by his singing and presence and surprised to hear that he was the one who was blessed and comforted by our presence. We didn't /don't know his name :( Beautifulperson who took a very short train ride with us.

LOVERLY, that was beautiful. Thank you. Also, thanks for your life story. I was on a YouTube link this morning when the computer went haywire. The link was to a reporter asking folks on the beach in California, what they were celebrating today. The majority being interviewed, couldn' identify what the fourth of July history was related to in the USA. These weren't' just kids. Bummer.

Jazzy thanks too. Computer went haywire today. I have " answers by me" tech support. I've been working the problem since 9 am. It will be another hour. The other day the computer got confused when I was working from so many web pages back and forth. Fast and furious. Twice I had to reboot. Not stellar activity since. Any thoughts? ....... And why does my kindle not seem to have the same problem? I know I can't do anything near the activity level that I can on the laptop?

Wow we just found out there is a forest fire at the beginning of the dam up near our cabin. There is only one route in and out to Bend, Sisters and Detroit Lake. Some of the folks who are up there said there is ash falling on their decks.. scary. Everything is bone dry up there. They have fireworks on the lake every year... how will folks get home? They have the highway on a 2 hour delay. The fire is only 30 acres right now, but the terrain is steep and there are massive amounts of trees. This is a bit scary so so close. It's so hot too and no end in sight. ugh. I surely don't want another disaster like the biscuit fire... it's still a burned out mess.

Rose- I am sorry to hear about the fire. We have bad wildfires here in NM, although they have been less the past few years. I hope your cabin remains safe. I hope the people can evacuate safely. I have huge respect for the wildfires out west.

Jazzy glad your 4th was the best. We are hanging out waiting for it to get closer to 10pm. Then go down to the river for fireworks with DH and DD3. Hope it cools off.

RE cabin-The terrain is so steep there. If the fire gets out of hand it will be nasty. It is handy they can use choppers to fill up at the dam and dump on the steep hillsides. Our cabin is on the other side of the Lake. It's the ash and all falling already that could start more fires. I have deep respect for fires out here, nothing to fool with.

Just got back from what will no doubt be my last July 4th fireworks! We went down to a 4 story parkade, top floor downtown, with a zillion other folks and kids. You can see the fireworks really well. What made me smile and why this country is so special were the people lined up beside us. To our right a group of hispanic boys and their extended family happily chattering and socializing, Grandparents and parents together. Our Swedish, Scottish, German family and our Chinese adopted daughter hanging out next. To my left a Black and White couple and their 2 little daughters oooohing and ahhing every burst of light. Dad had baby brother in his arms. Next to them a Middle Eastern Muslim family with the Mom in full covered dress, little daughter in her American Tee shirt and Dad taking photos of them with the fireworks in the background. No fear. Tolerance and acceptance and happiness! America is a wonderful place. We should cherish it. Oh and lets not forget to thank the Chinese for packing such lovely fireworks to enjoy! Happy July 4th!

Jazzy -- I could use a drink. <sigh> ...on the wagon until sometime after radiation in September.

Rose -- if you can go to a bigger city, google the prospective oncologists and read what people are writing. I have Kaiser Permanente so I don't really have a choice but I've been pretty lucky so far as to which doctor's I'm getting.

I pretty much slept all of Friday. After days of not sleeping well from hot flashes, I just crashed. Then I spent most of the day today making dinner to bring into work and I'm working 6 PM-4 AM on overtime. We were inundated with fireworks calls--208 between 6 PM and midnight. Around here, most people are better off doing like Chevy and yelling at the kids. Or their parents.

Chevy--cute flip flop sandwiches. I always go for the extended warranty, especially with cars because I never hit the mileage cap but I always hit the 8 or 10 years on the warranties.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July!
