here's my new do's
Morning all
-
Susan, love your new do! Great pic of you. Good luck with the SEs this week, hope it's not as bad as last time. Does it get easier or stays the same each time?
Don't know for sure why they named her Lemon but part of it was when they call her in a dog park, she'll be the only one to answer.
-
I here it gets harder ...but always up,for the challenge. Ran 2 miles today to show that chemo...ha
I actually ran with no hat so people would understand why I was breathing so hard and running
So slow...lol. Should be able to run tomorrow morning, then not for 10 days.
Did you ever get all, your clothes shopping done ?
-
OH Susan you look soooooo beautiful. 2 miles? Okay I'll get off here and go swimming. Shessh what a nag.............................
-
sas..you go girl...go do your laps..feel so good afterwards
. Bag balm...smells...eweeeeeee
-
Okay Susan, LOL I did my laps and I doooo feel better. I have minimal sense of smell. LOL. I don't even notice it. DBF the same way. You could use vicks, That way it takes care of the itch AND opens your sinuses ROTFLOL.
-
Beautiful, Susan!
-
Susan you look beautiful, I am impressed you are able to run wile during treatment. I lost the feeling in my feet and I could not even walk fast cuz i would trip over. I am happy for you, hope you are able to continue running
Sent the parcel to my niece this morning I am sure she will love it
she is the one that sent me the little owl
) she is a sweet girl
-
Susan, wow, I'm impressed. Never could do running. I am enjoying my swim aerobic classes, go twice a week. I'm almost done shopping 5 new jeans, 4 new tops and my friend gave me 4 others. 1 Capri, waiting for 2 more in the mail, and just got 3 bathing suits, only 1 will stay. Going to have to buy new underwear soon. I got rid of a bunch that were always at the top of the stack, the ones at the bottom were pretty new and not stretched out, but they're starting to bag now. 6bras but 2 I'm not going to wear, they hurt my armpits, good thing they were cheap. Weigh in tonight, hopefully still losing, I want at least 5 more, haven't hit the 160s yet. We go to 3 meals a day starting tomorrow and add in dairy products. I'll have to see if milk is going to be an issue.
Here's my poor lonely closet

This is so cool!

Ok, so I'm way behind but I just have to get this off my chest and had no where else to turn!!
Had my 6 month checkup today, one year from end of chemo but 6 months from last appt! Anyway, why did I come away feeling more confused??? I hate that I am NOT a very good advocate of my own health!! I try, but I never get in all my questions and leave confused and worried!!
My DH says that I'm overreacting but he is not the one with cancer!! So this is the story.......
Only lab done was liver panel, all was good!!
During physical exam, DR mentions, or should I say ask, why is your left arm bigger than your right, well, hell, I don't know!! The left is NOT the cancer side!! So we just pass over that, it is not mentioned again!! He then notices that I have patches of "breakouts" and asks about that, well, hell, I'm not sure what causes that either except for the fact that I've had allergies all my life but haven't had a breakout like this since I was a teen!! So again, we pass over this, then he listens to my lungs and asks me if I'm having trouble breathing, WTH!!!! No, I haven't, is what I say, so again it is passed over!! He then asks about the aromasin, which I have stopped since March, told him why, he says, OK, we will switch to femara!! UGH!! And I will see you back in 3 months!! WTH!!! I then ask about the back pain, it is basically pushed aside, but he did say that if I still complain in Nov, he will talk about a scan!!
So now, I'm still concerned about the back, but now I'm scared to death as to why he asked about trouble breathing!! I mean, geez, did he hear something?? And if so, what and why didn't he address it further?? I know, I was trying to keep up with Questioning, but didn't do a good job!!
I HATE this crap!! It is controlling my thoughts and I don't like it!!
Oh and he said I need to exercise and lose weight!! REALLY??? Like I didn't know that!!
Anyway- blah blah blah!!!!!!!! When will it ever end?? Oh wait, I know - never!!
-
Nettie sending you hugs, I totally get what you are saying.
-
Nettie, if you are not satisfied with these answers, get another appointment. Go in armed with a list of questions, so you won't get nervous and forget something. He is working for you, not the other way around, why stress over all of this until your next appointment. We must be good advocates for ourselves and any good doctor will respect this. My docs were poo pooing the lump I found in April, saying you had a mastectomy it only scar tissue, I pushed for an MRI and here I am, always trust your own instincts, it's your body.. I am finishing up with Rads next Thurs. and am supposed to start Aromasin then, I am not scheduled for another MO appointment until Dec. but I have so many questions about side effects etc. so I made another appointment for after my last treatment. Good luck
-
Nettie,
My doc asks questions about body systems like, are you having trouble breathing?! to just pull things out in his exam. No worries.
Anita
-
Oh Nettie I feel so bad for u, but 3rd is right call again and tell them how u feel and u need to have a conversation with the Dr. BTW whenever any Dr. listens to my heart or lungs that question is always asked and when I talked about my back I got some kind of scan--so u have to make sure u really stress this--and try u'r hardest not to be afraid, I know it's difficult but meditate also everyday for relaxation. And if u want ask for meds to help u.
Yes Chevy I would have totally believed that was u'r back yard.
Susan honestly u look great, u are so pretty. And running like that is an accomplishment.
-
Nettie----you just walked into a cow cake. If you don't know what that is --it's cow manure. Commonly known as SHIT
I took your complaints(medical usage) about you pain. Organized it. Gave a completely logical reason, that you had a 100% reason to either ask for MRI from MO or a referral to an orthopedist to evaluate the spine. Posted the whole thing on page 523.
After many posts, you asked how to get to 523. What that told me is, you read nothing of what I put together.
Your post now after a visit with MO, identifies many complaints(medical usage) that did not get a response.
All the docs have limited time to deal with a patient. You need to go in prepared with a list. If in the time your are with them, they haven't answered your question, you need to say "This is NOT been answered.". You need to stick on that until they respond.
------------------------------------------------------------
Just a question re: your last post re: getting the very expensive brace and that you knew everything about Scoliosis --when was that recommendation made and by whom based on what diagnostic evaluation. Based on the info you gave me you have never had a diagnostic MRI.
___________________________________________________________________
You have new onset problems that--------YES ------he blew by-------read the above bolded statement. . The complaint re: arm swelling needs to be addressed. The skin issues need to be addressed. The lung issues need to be addressed. MY recommendation-- reschedule an appointment with him/her for the near future-----not 3months. The Standard of Care--1. Is identify a problem 2.Determine a cause 3. What referrals or diagnostic tests will accomplish an identification and resolution of the complaints(medical usage). Tell him he did none of this during the last visit--------Not acceptable.
-
Nice finds Sas!
-
Nittie I am so sorry you have that kind of doctor. I now go in there I let then talk then I pull out my notes and say ok thanks here I need to address a few things. I also say I want to get a bone scan. Or I want to get an MRI etc I stop asking " do you think I need a bone scan? Or do you think I need an MRI? " in my case when ever I ask a doctor do you think? They always say that is not necessary. So I now say I would like to have..... Or I want to have...... Done for my peace of mind. If the doctor refuses I go back to my FD and demand a referral to another. It's terrible that we have to push and push but that's just the way it is. I am waiting to have my revision surgery and after that I will demand all kind of answer about pain I am dealing with.
specially my sternum it is worrying me cuz when I had my first bone scan my sternum did had a small light on it and the onco asked me if I had any kind of injury which I didn't then she said she will consult with other doctors then they said it was nothing to be worry about but now when I sneez it hurts lol so I will ask as soon as I get my surgery out of the way.
-
Sas, I have read on page 523 many times, I guess I'm missing something very important! My bad!!
I don't know that I've ever had an MRI on my back in recent years!! My chiro offered to order one, but insurance would NOT pay!! that seems to be the culprit - I can NOT pay for it and insurance says not warranted!! I know you will say the doctors have to document the need so insurance will pay, but I've done all I can to convince! At least this time, he did say if I still had complaints in Nov he would talk about scans! I have no idea what he saw with my arms, I have no problems, my neighbor, a nurse, said that she thinks that since I'm right handed, my right arm is more tone than my left! she looked it over for me and could not really tell a major difference! Still doesn't make me less wondering about why he mentioned it but then just passed it by!! He says that I am NED and have been since surgery in Dec 2012! Not sure how he can be so sure as no test other than blood work has been done since the end of treatment, but he says I needed to remember that my treatment was preventative, not curative!
I was evaluated by the doctor that will prescribe the spinecor brace!! they take X-rays of my back in all different positions so that the can order the correct brace, each brace is individually made to specs.
I went to an ortho, told them when making the appointment that I needed to be seen for back & hip pain, went to the appt to only be told that they don't "do" back pain!! It's a run around, I can only miss so much work and all these appointments cut into that! I know my health is more important, but I need my job also!
Then the comment about the trouble breathing, I have no idea what that was about, I have no issue!! and when I said no, he just moved on to the next thing!!
As for the skin irritations, they are not new to me, just it's been a long time since I've had this many at once, I've also been told that I could expect for my allergies to return because the chemo could change the immunity! Therefore, the nasal drip, the sneezing, the little cough, the breakouts, really haven't worried me until today!!
Tomorrow, I will again, go back and read and try to make a call to see if I can get some answers!
-
good luck Nettie
Enerva..I have always been lucky that my neuropathy has always been the painful type. If I had numbness I couldn't do what I do. Can't do my half marathons anymore, but I can do 2 miles before feet blisters start from the burning pain..just ice them when I get home. I am over the anger of not being able to do what I used to, and so happy I can do what I can. It's all good
Chevy....awesome owls !!!!!
Hi everyone..hope everyone had a good day..and wishing everyone peaceful sleep and great dreams
-
susan you are so awesome, run, I can barely walk...love the hair do....Nettie, relax if you can, gather your thoughts, write down questions, then call and ask him to call you back or go see him again...I agree I never say should I get a CT scan, or you think I should get scanned, I tell them what I need...Just last week did it...they work or us, they keep forgetting that....
Love you guys....getting off, hopefully I can sleep, didn't take predasone,....had this disease...
HUGS ALL AROUND!!
-
hope you sleep well blondiex..see you in the morning
-
sas...what's with the rotflol ????? It does smell like a weird visk..it will clear your sinuses out..wired mix of Vicks and some other bad medicinal smell. If I start loosing my nails I think it will be a great healer for them. Sticking with the desitin for the vag/ anal itching..would rather smell like a baby's bottom...lol
Thanks for all your research...you need a disclaimer ...my smeller doesn't work...smell at your own caution..lol
-
I got in the pool today for the first time this summer. Yay! The chlorine seemed to help my rashy skin some. Or is that just wishful thinking? I didn't get the bag balm yet, off to Walgreens tomorrow. I will be prepared for the stink.
Susan, I love your attitude, "it's all good". You're rocking the new do, very pretty.
Sas, what great finds thrifting. I'd love to collect dessert plates, all different, and use them for get togethers. It would give me more reasons to get together and eat dessert, yum.
Chevy, love the Dutch owls and all your garden pics.
Blondie, I hope you have a good night.
Nettie, my MO always asks about my breathing and asks if it hurts when he does the liver and abdomen check. I think he's just going through his own routine and making sure it gets covered. Do you have a nurse assigned to you that you could call to review the appointment with? I've done that before, called her up and asked why did he say this, or what does he want me to do about that. Maybe that could be a step towards putting your mind at ease.
-
Good Morning Ladies---yes this is the time I'm awake--the rest of the day I'm all floopy and in a blur..Wish all my calls came in now and could do my work for the day.
Blondie I hope u'r sleeping well tonite/
Blueberry u've got the docs figured out good for u.
Nettie u sound like u have more confidence in u'r issues with u'r Docs to call and get things done. Just do it, u'll be happy all the scans are done.
I hope everyone has a decent day.
-
Okay YES! I am the Queen of Vicks! I love that stuff! My Uncle once told me that if you rub Vicks onto your toes, it will help your toenail fungus!
I mixed up my own "cream" when I was having so much trouble with my hands.... they were peeling, sore, and blistered. Found out, after much research, it was the medicine I was using on our little Lacee for her Hot-Spots....!
So if you use Mentholatum or Vicks, mixed with the generic of Desitin, (40 %) that you get at Super Target, which has a stronger Zinc-Oxide, and and also Preparation H, you will have a nice cream that will help soothe and cool your hands! Honest! And then wear little cotton gloves at night, after you grease up your hands.
AND it clears your head!
I tried Bag-balm, vaseline, coconut oil, and any other thing I could find.... but you just have to figure out what is CAUSING the allergy, and then not DO it anymore.
Sass and I also did the weak chlorine "baths" for our hands at one time.... So it makes sense that the chlorine in your pool would help your whole body.... If nothing else, it dis-infects you, and makes you even cleaner! You MUST dilute it.... drives Sass NUTS if you don't! Don't go stickin' any part of you in straight Clorox! It just is so slippery!
My Grandma used to wash my Dad's hair with clorox, when he was little! Ha, ha!
So I guess that's all the medical stuff I can help you with today!
We went up the canyon to Black-Hawk yesterday.... Just as we got there, all the flashing lights, emergency vehicles, and it just makes your heart drop! A touring Motorcycle was down.... driver had been taken away....
Found out later, that while we were there, they CAUGHT the hit & run driver! He plowed into him, and if THAT didn't hurt enough, the biker was carrying a hand-gun, probably in a shoulder holster, and when he went DOWN he shot himself in the chest!
I don't know how he is.... but that guy that HIT him and took off, is in a sh$$ load of trouble! If the biker doesn't make it, he will be held on murder charges!
You just never know.......... The biker was 60, and from Pennsylvania.... and I think was pretty smart for carrying a gun.... Just an accident that the gun went off! IN him!
-
good morning all, wishing you a day full of lights
Isn't this bathroom perfect? Lol
-
