Slow down a bit, let those tires cool off!!!!
I *think* a gas well is some kind of drilling rig.
-
I think Phyllismeltingtires was just being ironic about tires melting. Know it can get hot in Nebraska as well. Due for bit cooler today and rain by midweek.
2TA, Pawprint, Blessings - wish we could send some rain your way too. We are really a bit better this year. I haven't seen any burn bans around. I would be madder than a wet hen if someone set off fireworks as dry as you are. We have had bans both July 4th and New Year's Eve and sheriff's dept pretty serious about it. I have a vol. fireman now on the cul-de-sac so I know no one would be violating it - wink, wink.
I met the biggest dog I've seen in a long time yest. Neighbor down the street had his hay baled. He invited DH and I down to glean the leftovers - we got 7 large trash bags full just raking/bagging. Also arranged to buy 30 bales of his hay/have used it in past years - he didn't even bother baling last year. Good thing is he stores it too until we need it. Same price I paid 2 weeks ago. He has a Pyrenees cross that weighs about 130#. Sweetest dog - Beau (or Bo maybe). Goats are happily eating his hay now. I think most people use about the same stuff on their fields so not much trouble changing hay. Not like changing your dog's food every day to a diff. brand. Coastal hay is pretty much self limiting. They like it but it's not like it's a great "treat" so they don't overeat.
Who asked about Phyllis and the gas trucks/gas wells. I think at least the original well drilling is slowing some in Texas - at least N. Texas. Oklahoma is going gangbusters. They think that's why they are having at least daily earthquakes up there now. Here's a pic. of what she's talking about. They just litter the landscape. Kinda fun at night - they look like Christmas lights. But traffic and NOISE 24 hours a day. And those lights if your live near it. Never had one really close to the house (knock on wood). Once all this contraption comes down left with smaller usually fenced/graveled area but the water trucks continue to deliver/take away the waste water. Texas roads are a wasteland from all the fracking traffic. I couldn't find a better pic that would post - the one I wanted was blocked from posting. It's hard to get perspective in how much footprint these take up.
Sassy you and my DM would have had great discussions about glass.
HI1 - sounds like Sassy said that DH's docs jumped right on his case. Bravo for them. And don't beat yourself up. Like Chevy amazing you got him there at all. Take care of yourself. Prayers continue for both of you.
Tangarooni - Loved the Zip A Dee Doo Dah. My dumb birds just found the birdfeeder I filled up last week.
Prayers for all our Owlettes getting tests this week, rads, chemo. Traveling mercies for those doing that. Aging parents. KIds being as Cami says chits. I need to get some housework done. You know those undies I was going to do last week - yup still not done.
Sassy I see owl on skateboard, with Fierce BB's Bluebird above. No flying owls for me.

Good morning Ladies (and others, if that applies)!
Yes Patty, Dad saw Mom for their anniversary. I got there too late to join them, besides, I think Dad needed to be alone with her without me around, that is, as alone as he could be with all the residents and staff around. By the time I saw him late afternoon, he was in the zombie-state. I think if I hadn't have shown up, he would have stayed in and forgotten to eat. He didn't eat much at dinner, but he got out. We went over together on Saturday, he got to spend some time with her. One of the residents must have thought I lived there, asked me to walk her around. As I walking her in the hallways, her apparent son came up (hadn't seen him earlier) and asked me if was taking her outside - of course not, it was over 100* and humid. I can walk her around, she's not my relative! Dad also went over yesterday while I worked in the house (he hates to see me doing things for him so I usually wait until he falls asleep then do what I can if it's a quiet activity), then went over to join them (we had a big bag of stuff, mainly clothes that needed to be taken there, left them by the front door and of course, he didn't take them). One of my brothers and his son are coming to visit first week in August so I had lots of organizing to do. Finally got to all the framed pictures, sorted them and determined where they should be placed, called up a maintenance order so they will get hung this week.
Chevy, the secret is have two (or more) tabs open at the same time.....
Sassy, just hate it when I finally get something written and it just disappears, like it never existed. Poof, gone. Any clues about length of ban? Do you have write an essay (or some form of punishment) to get the privileges back? Like the old school days.... Thanks for trying, though..
Well, looks like my morning is off to a strange start.... Gotta leave you lovely ladies, need to get ready to brave the freeway crawl for the dr appts, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. We shall see what we shall see.....
Nettie, thanks for the inspiring song/video, needed something positive this morning...
Somebody, please help me understand: why do people drink to oblivion when they know it's only going to lead to sickness......?
-
LMG--yes, I must seem crazy LOL. When the pics in the box move after they have been "SET" and submitted-----Then when the post appears, they've moved somewhere else in the box---that's what I call flying. BB's bluebird flew on top of the skateboard owl. I didn't put it there. it appeared that way after I put Chevy's quote in and hit submit. I was going to leave it that way. But tried to fix something else and BB's bluebird went back to it's original position and I can't budge it.
I know it's a computer thingy. But when it happened, I thought of FBB telling me/us "Cluck'em, we can ride it out"
Plus, if you put that together with what Chevy said. It was as if FBB was acknowledging what Chevy said. Computer thingy, but it helped me
Would have loved to talk glass with your DM

Maddy, I won't approach the Mods on anything re: the ban. The ban was b/c of usurpation of my free speech rights and they don't get that. Contact would acknowledge their power. Plus, they have the ban and delete button. No discourse can occur. Voltaire, Edmund Burke, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison were apparently bypassed in BCO's understanding of how important words are to the Social Contract.
The extended learning re:Terms of Use statements research was that throughout the world the same language is used in these statements. Every time we click an accept or I agree box for a Tof U clause, we give up our right to free speech. That was a bit of a shocker for me. I was oblivious to it before the ban. From this perspective the ban was worth learning that. Not that I can do anything with the learning, but teach others that this exists. With a belief that change will occur.
Voltaire's quote: I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
-
Yes that was the point I was trying to make earlier by stating that I don't understand how they nullified our freedom of speech, but as I said, I guess that is their right by owning the site!! But like Voltaire's quote, I will do the same!! -
Nettie it is the right of any site to use a Terms of Use clause. They must include the Freedom of Speech clause in the USA. It 's not required that the exact words of the clause are stated. The TOS must include the elements of the clause. All the TOS's I reviewed do so. The law allows then the use of discretion by the owner of the site. Discretion and free speech are contradictory. But it is lawful.
I had never read the "Freedom of Speech" clause. Google it. It, also, was part of the learning experience. I know now what it exactly is, again from this perspective it was a positive.
-
Off to get ready for ultrasounds for eval Re: that pesky bladder stone of a few weeks ago. All normal now, so don't expect much. But the report will tell it's story and I'm peeing like a racehorse hydrating for the US's preparation.
-
ah, just a quick check in....
2ndtimeMaddy, YOU ROCK ! A photo of a bluebird watching over us...
Have to read later, thanks LMG for pointing out the obvious, she was being ironic....dah, I should of gotten that...
-
Maddy when something disappears hit control z. It should reappear. At least in microsoft it does. Just learned that a couple weeks ago
-
These are the kittens taken the day they went to their next foster home. We were still calling them by their ribbon colors: blue, red, and gold.
-
Ah Sass! You are talking about stuff, and using big words, and I think the term is BE THE HELL CAREFUL!
I mean the rest of us are all moving along fine, like chickens in a hen house, and we ain't goin' nowhere, nor rockin' any kind of boat.....
I just always click "yes" no matter what! I haven't gotten into trouble yet....
It's like I have my hands over my ears, and pretending you are not saying anything detrimental to your future! WHERE would we all BE, if we didn't have HERE to come to?
Love you guys!
-
oh love those kittens, you know that is so good you former home. I always wanted to do that but I am afraid that I could end up keeping the animals cuz i can get attached to easy
Here is a cute picture I found well a few lol
Ok chevy don't ask me what bird that is cuz i have no clue I just think he is beautiful
-
Oh poor Chevy I always upset you so...........dear one.
-
Sas I'm not going anywhere. You must have me confuseled with somebody else. How was the US?
Going to meet DD at Starbucks soon
-
chit! I can't even get a vacation!!!!
-
Aw Chevy you get all the weather.
-
The most fun thing DD has done for me in a while was put all my twitters (mostly weather related) into one account she made for me. So on bad weather days it's open in a tab.
-
That's CUZ Sass, you scare me half to death! WHAT would the rest of us do if you somehow, vanished into thin air? I mean we would be looking for you! I couldn't even act like I have a CLUE as to what you are medically speaking of if you were on......um, time out! Now I just fake it, and pretend I know all about what you say!
So just relax, I don't even know what TOS's ARE! And don't tell me, because, well...... you know.......
I thought I taught you how to be a nice little gal, with your Pinafore skirts on, and your Mary-Jane shoes, and a big bow in your hair! And just say "yes mam, and no mam!" Amd nothing else....
You help soooooo many of us on here..... not that I understand 1/2 of what you say, but THEY do! You are the Mother Superior of this thread..... I can just be one of your little Cinderellas..... along with Cammi..... We hear no evil, speak no evil, or see no evil..... unless we have to. xoxoxoxoxo
-
I should respond to all of you and may do it later but for now....I am having a pity party today so sorry....I need someone to go with me even to the drs. which doesn't happen, so either I am out of breath OR I have to call ahead and they come down and get me....sooooo annoying,I still can't sleep am up every night til about 330 and then sleeping most of the day away....again annoying....would like to take a trip somewhere, some kind of vacation, the travel oxygen doesn't permit that the battery doesn't last that long without being charged....oh well I am alive, guess that is good....It would be nice if I had the kind of family (only child, kids are the only family cept for friends) that took me places, my 3 kids went away on vacation and of course they didn't ask me, but I get it, it is a familly thing.and they are.
thanks for llistening...
ME
-
Blondie, Sounds less like a pity party than a statement of fact. I would be more than annoyed if I slept those hours and needed help for everything. Is your walk-around oxygen a concentrator? You might check with the company to see if it can be charged by a car battery while driving. Lots of things can be now. A woman at the senior center and in my art class has a concentrator and a very very long extension cord.

My news, saw the new ps, she was very nice. Said to wait six months so my weight settles then see if I still want something done. She could use the Aladerm but no guarantee that would help. I have very stretchy skin so I bought two bras at Norhstrom. I got away for over a year without wearing a bra! She even suggested a night bra to help. Probably not. The pain she thinks is caused from the bmx and the nerves that were cut. She seems to be willing if I want to do it. So I'll be good and wait patiently. This way I'll get to finish my swimming classes, and maybe my next birthday in February I'll have new boobs again.
Nettie & sass, why don't you two exchange email addresses? Nettie can send hers to you by pm. Then you guys won't have to worry. Sass could still post things she thinks we all might need. c&P is easy.
Cami or Chevy, can't remember which, the hair is all mine, a little past my shoulders and I color it, from eSalon on the internet. My daughter puts in on for me. I think the color is probably close to what I had. Don't want to go gray yet!
Tang and Susan, hope your day went well, I think Tand had an appointment? How'd that go?
-
Good Dog Chevy, I grew up in the Catholic school system. You can't begin to understand what it was like b/c I was a pain in the ass then--from the beginning You know how we have memories--they can be visual, auditory, etc. First grade--nun refuses to let a girl go to the bathroom and she couldn't hold it. She stood on the runners and pee'ed. The Nun yelled at her. I stood up and said stop, it's your fault. All hell had to be paid for that one. Life never got easier. LOL F*&%#'em.
Edit: never regretted telling the nun to stop. But over the years thought when the memory came back, the trauma to that kids mind of peeing in front of the whole class, and how it affected her life, or was it so traumatic that she blocked it out
-
Sas, that's odd. When I was in second grade, that happened to me. Teacher wouldn't let me go, so I told her I would pee right there, she didn't believe me, but I did exactly that. Never really bothered me after the fact. But I never was told no again. Lol. And I did get to call for change of clothes.
-
Sorry Spookie--Ds interrupted our call, ordinarily would have been a quick click, BUT DBF has an new a legal problem. The last legal problem that DS begged off on b/c of no legal knowledge, ended in a financial mud for me and DBF. Should have just said Bye. Talk soon chickie L&H's sassy
-
Nettie maybe I was more traumatized than the girl....standing up to a Nun as a 6 y/o. But the rest of life was similar to that------
-
Yes, I don't think I could have stood up to a nun!!! Not in grade schools anyway. You were brave and protective as you are now.
-
Sweet Fierce Blue Bird's obituary is on her angel thread.
-
Nettie -it had to do with Polio. We each took on different roles... I became the protector---Don't mess with my brother. Sister and I weren't left with visible defects, he was.. Didn't mean there wasn't a lifelong problem for sister and I.
Parents were told if I didn't make a turn by morning, I'd be put in a lung machine. I was a few hours away from being put in those horrible lung machines. Doc's told M& D , I was the worst of the three. Why we all came out the way we did-----------???????
Post Polio Syndrome / Sequelae .wasn't identified till many years later. !980 with Halstead.
Nettie, that's why I'm protective of you now. My scenario had no explanation of why I'm here the way I am.. Please, follow up on my suggestions. Yes, I'm way protectrve- my life role. But unless you follow through, what is my attempt at protection worth?
-
Smarrty, I hear what you are saying, but a life lesson for me, one persons problem, seemingly disconnected from ours, may have only a couple words that we connect with, that solves a problem for another. I feel, I get latitude here b/c I started the thread. Not a highway , my way thing---just a truly comfortable place to be. All that are here connect with someone. Upside, downside inside, outside.
Nice that you feel a connection with new PS ..Yay. BTW the Bra thing I have thought in the last days. I was ill advised about not wearing a bra. Since I've been doing it routinely going out. The foobs haven't been falling in the pits. You're in the first year, try seeking the thoughts of the gals on the bra thread. They have stuck with the thread as an advisory group for several years now. They use Deborah(Whippetmom) as a resource. Delihah is the source---spelling looks wrong............. ohhh I'll go find it
