Feeling much more rested today. Got desperate enough to take a melatonin last night. Only woke up once in the night.
Holy cow!!!! I'm just sitting here listening to Jackson snoring. Never thought a dog could snore that loud!
-
-
Jazzy: (snorts of laughter) That's about the speed of my Thanksgiving preparations.
-
lol I've seen this one before but I still laugh when I see it again
Worked on my final paper this morning for a bit and I am on the third page already. Have a target of at least 5 pages

Dh is taking me to the oral surgeon this afternoon so we'll see what can be done. Lost another tooth last night, a molar with a ragged edge that was scraping my tongue, as I was trying to apply some of that dental wax one of you suggested a while back. It just fell off. No pain. The inside of it is just mush.
So I probably won't be able to do the implant retained dentures with the risk of infection but I'm hoping for something to give me back my smile. That's been really hard for me.
Tomorrow, new chemo, and as I told MO, I get to have some time with my awesome chemo nurses. Oh, I just looked at him and said, now aren't you glad I kept my port? He laughed.
One thing he has never done is, "you've got _____ (months, years)". He just won't give up, I know. I confess I'm curious but I won't ask.
I'll call Sassy when I get back this afternoon. Haven't talked to her since new dx and said I'd call yesterday and didnt
-
Magdalene: my teeth send your teeth their deepest sympathies. No involvement with/of cancer treatment--all mine was purely local--but just weird teeth.
-
Mags, best wishes, I hope you get your smile. XXX
-
Mags. Thinking of you.
-
Suprising my hubby by raking the leaves today. He had told me that since we had rain yesterday and last night to wait til they were totally dry. They were mostly dry by the time I got to them.
-
Hey ya'll..........I beat Loverly to say.....
-
I've been non-adulting and trying to stay buried under my comfy blankies. I did talk to Sassy on Monday. She is doing great and sends her love to all
Mags..... Damn. I hope your Oral Surgeon can do something NOW for your comfort and your smile. Of the bone stuffs the MO could give you, Zometa is the best (my opinion). It is the only bisphosphonate effective in decreasing the spread of bone mets. It's kept mine stable for 3 1/2 years. As for dental work and Zometa; I have had fillings and crowns without problems; the only caution is if the jawbone is affected. The infusions can be delayed or interrupted if needed.
Bone mets suck. Deal-able and certainly survivable. Ahhh but it still really, really sucks.
The University of Rochester has the best detailed info on mets that I've come accross. I printed copies of the report and highlighted what applied to me to help my family (and me) better understand:
Bone Metastases: When Cancer Spreads to the Bones
Edited to try do a "hot link" but no luck

A therapy not mentioned above is RFA - I has this done in September and was home the same day!
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)
This treatment uses heat to destroy cancer cells. It can help to relieve pain that hasn't responded to radiotherapy and is usually only used to treat small secondary bone tumours.
RFA is done under a general anaesthetic. A doctor places a needle into the bone tumour. This is usually done using a CT scanner to make sure the needle is in the right place. Radio waves are then passed down the needle into the tumour to heat, and so destroy, the cancer cells.
There are very few side effects with this treatment, although it's quite common for people to have some pain or discomfort and to feel tired. You usually need to stay in hospital overnight after this treatment.
Hoping all goes well with treatment tomorrow.
BIG (((HUGS)))
-
loverly, are you ok?? Miss seeing you on the board. Hope all is well...hugs
-
loverly, was listening to a Christian radio station while stuck in traffic. They were talking about pet care. One lady talked about her dog with skin problems. She tried essential oils, very diluted, lavernder and chamomile. Rubbed it on, I think every day, and it all cleared up. Don't know if you can look up, it was moody bible radio station, yesterday , so Tuesday afternoon.
-
loverly. Hope you are ok
Great to hear about sas. Thanks
Mags. Thinking of you
Hugs all around
I actually had a good day. Woohoo.
Hootie hoo
-
Patty: I've been praying for you! Do you think it was the Xeloda? I've had good weeks and bad weeks on it. Last week it felt like I was getting pierced by an ice pick in my upper abdomen and also like my lower abdomen was being rung out like a dish rag. I had diarrhea, too. So glad you had a good day
).
Shep: Thanks for info on radiofrequency ablasion. I'll talk to my RO about it.

Didn't call Sassy today. Talked so much at oral surgeon my voice was worn out. (By the way, the ENT found nodules on my vocal chords which is why my voice is raspy and tires easily.)
I gave the assistant my MO's business card so she took it to him before he came in. He actually called and talked to MO first. Turns out his mother-in-law and aunt are both patients of MO, and the two men have known each other, been friends in fact, for years. Small world.
Their consensus was that I should hold off on doing anything until after the first six weeks, and if the chemo is working, go ahead with the implant retainers as long as my labs stay good.
That's all I know. Chemo tomorrow
-
Ay! I am behind! It is not only Wacky Wednesday....
But it is also Kathi's Birthday. Happy Birthday!!!
-
-
lita. No I had same problems long before X. I second the rfa. It worked wonders for me....at least til the next spot came up.
Mags. Small world indeed. Gl on chemo tomorrow
Lovely. Wow. Love the dress.
-
Oh Patty, I am so glad to hear you are better today. Hope both ends give you a break. Did you know that coconut water is good for hydration? Better than all the electrolytes drink out there (imo). Wishing for more good days. Goal for Patty for the rest of the year: NO hospital stay!!!
Are you taking anything to help control the big D and N/V?
-
Hope it doesn't rain with that dress on..lol
Patty, good to hear you are feeling better
Mags, hugs for tomorrow
Sensi, how ya hanging in there? Any easier getting up early for work?
Sweet dreams gals!

Susan, thank you for the info on the essential oils. I did some research and found that lavender and chamomile in combination act as an antihistamine, antibacterial, antifungal, and all the good "antis". Will definitely try the oils on her. Thank you so much. I did some research on all the foods we have been given her and found a common denominator -- peas!!! The last food I had her on, two days after she broke out! The poor girl had rash on both armpits and belly. I switched her over to Canine Caviar limited ingredients five days ago and so far the scratching has gone down and no new rashes. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will continue to improve. I have a feeling she is also allergic to chicken and possibly lamb and farm raised salmon. I was told by SPCA she is allergic to corn. We know for sure she has allergies because she responded to prednisone and Apoquel (immune system modulator).
I had to give myself a time out from BCO for a few days to take a deep breath. Hard to be goofy when our sisters here struggle. Anyway, big hug back to you. Okay, what food would you like to have for lunch. It will help me narrow down the restaurants
shhhh Don't tell Ms S. I have not looked for one yet. Have I told you I procrastinate. Wonder from whom my DD get it. Did you get your overdue chemo?
-
JunieB, 31 more days. Northern Idaho is quite a distance from Salem. I am so excited for you. He is adorable! This is the less active boy right? Thanks for the suggestion on the toppings for the pumpkin cheesecake muffins.
Ms. S, more pics of Oz please. Have you tried crocodile yet?
Sensi, the hike was great. Lots of people with their dogs. Wish I could take Mitzy along. I think you and Chance would have enjoyed it.
Hope you will adjust to work soon, Sensi.
JeanQ, has the burning pain improved?
WildT, do you have a surgery date for December?
Jwoo, I remember the post surgery insomnia. Yuck!
Feline, I never thought the numbness after the unfavorable news is a protecting mechanism of the body. Very interesting. Nice pic of the super moon.
Mags, not sure what to say. I am sorry. Sending you warm hugs. Best wishes on the chemo treatment.
Shep, rest well. We will be here waiting. Hugs.
Mommy, good luck on your paper.
Queenie, drop in whenever u can. Have fun!!
Ms. Wren, my sorry attempt of a pic ofthe super moon.
I better rest. Trying to fight a head cold.
-
Mags - I hope your chemo goes well tomorrow and may it kick the progression to the curb.
Sensi - How was work today? Any better? Sleep well.
Loverly - Did you ever have a chance to check out that Dehydrated Raw dog food by "The Honest Kitchen"? Poor Mitzy girl!
It is now 3:07 a.m., so I need to go to bed. I'll check back later. Goodnight.

Oh no! I just looked at the calendar to realize my birthday is next Friday! Yuck, don't want to get older!!!!!
-
Mommyof2: yeah, I haven't figured out how to celebrate my birthday without getting older in the process. (Last Saturday for me.) A combination of sympathies/congratulations.
-
I was going to say we could have him, I mean this for a snack, but I think it might be good for lunch too.
Morning all. It's morning here, afternoon and evening at home. Too those going thru chemo, hope it goes down smooth, easy Peasy, and does its job.
Sensi, how has chance coped with you being gone now?
Lover, I can look up stuff from here too.
Be good everybody.
My lunch buddy yesterday. These guys will take your hand off
