JazzyJ- so glad you have chosen your new BFF from the litter. You have been looking forward to this for so long.
Do you have a name picked out yet?
-
morning ladies, well it morning here in Oz. Got to Oz Friday night. Long flight but not bad. Watched two movies, read, napped a little bit, I don't sleep on planes. Going home will be a bitch!
Here's DGS and family. They went 5 miles kayaking and a 3 miles hike in pretty rough terrain. He's on his leg he's had for 7 days! Tired but they enjoyed it all!
DH and I are settling in. Going up north tomorrow to hot air ballooning, cave exploring, maybe and a wine tour.
-
Thanks Susan & JazzyG - Yes it has been a long wait. Susan, the pic of the puppy sleeping in the car is really cute. As far as names, I have a few, but will wait until I meet him to decide. Examples are Friday, Kirby, Tucker, etc.
I was going to bring him home on my birthday weekend, but I have a chance to go to the Portland Zoo and see the animals & Zoo Lights for Christmas, so thought it better for me to wait an extra week to bring him home. I've never been to the Zoo here or seen the Holiday Zoo Lights. I hear they are quite pretty. This is gonna be an excellent B-day & Christmas, I think. The Zoo even has scooters to rent, since it is apparently very large and spread out.
Smaarty - Really pretty area in the pics.
-
Jazz bug, I did the zoo lights here. It's really pretty. I love doing it. Every year they make it better and more special. Have fun
-
MammaRay- sending you love and healing energy for better days. Hope you are out of the hospital soon and those seizures are a thing of the past soon.
-
Oh Ray, sorry you are in the hospital, but glad you have agreed to take the anti-seizure meds. Sending you love.
JunieB, there is something about Christmas lights that give me a fuzzy feelings inside. Good idea about delaying getting Kirby, I mean..... the pup. 35 more days-how exciting!!!
Susan, better?
I think it's your Royal Highness' Birthday today. Happy Birthday Queenie.
-
Ms. Jan, I have great respect for what you did for those Keyan girls. The thirst for learning of those girls reminds me of my dad who did the same thing because his parents didn't have the money to pay for school tuitions. There was no such thing as free school. If you were poor, your kids would be illiterate. Dad would sit outside to listen and learn along with the other children inside the classroom. Our kids over here don't know how fortunate they are to have free K-12 education.
Wildt, I am glad you understood my typo. Haha! Hope you are done winterizing your home. We will attempt to make pumpkin cheesecake when DD comes home for the holiday.
Shepk, woohooo! I think I found a blanket for you:
Jazzy, thought about you when I saw this shirt:
Yoga anyone? Not saying that you have done this before. Actually, my younger Sis was the unlucky recipient once in yoga class during one of the pose. I forgot the name of the it, but it's the one where you squat on the floor like a pretzel. The one that supposedly helps move along the "bubbles" in your stomach. Could you imagine being in her shoes? She was right behind the lady.
Talk about Christmas lights....Feline, is this true?
Okay, I think I am done for now.
-
Lover...yoga farts. Too funny!
-
MammaRay - So sorry to hear you're in the hospital. I hope it will only be a short time until you're able to go to the comfort of home.
Loverly - Tunnel of Lights is BEAUTIFUL! Was that "Kirby" slip a hint? I like it though. When you do the Pumpkin Cheesecake, try it with a Ginger Snap crust instead of the regular graham cracker crust. Also, topping it with a caramel & toasted pecan topping is yummy too. Both really compliment the pumpkin flavor.
Queenie - HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 YOU!
Goodnight everyone! :0)
-
And one more for you Queenie!
-
Thank you, Jazzy and Loverly! Technically it was the twelfth--fifty this year (eep!)--but getting the wishes the next morning is even better. I usually do celebrate my birthday when it suits me rather than on the actual day, so I'm fine with that. This year, a trip to Chicago (nominally over Thanksgiving) for a Gold-Plated Spa Massage, an opera and a nice restaurant or two.
-
(beams with joy) Weekend? heck, a great couple of weeks. Thank you.
-
-
MammaRay best wishes for your care and recovery.
-
Shep apparently that tunnel of lights is in Japan. It is real, just not in Ireland. (Never get why is it someone attaches wrong info to a beautiful image like that. What's wrong with saying here's the tunnel of lights in Japan?)
It looks absolutely beautiful here's a link with loads of pictures of it if anyone's curious.
-
mammaRay, did you get released yet? Hope the new drugs help.
Happy birthday Shep, and many moooooooore!
Where's Patty, looks like she hasn't posted in awhile.
Lover, did you fine a safe place for lunch with Susan and gang?
We are headed north up the coast today. No hot air balloon for us. It's $245 each! Yikes. For an hour ride. And up at sunrise!
Happy whatever day it is where you are
-
Posed the topic of school uniforms for my final paper to my friends and family on FB and the responses I got there were in favor of them. Got a start on the paper by trying to get my thesis written today.
-
smarty. Hey. Looks like you are having fun. Yea !
Mammaray. Hoping you are now home. Hospitals suck. Hoping the right med will stop seizures. So sorry.
Lovely. Loved those lights. Awesome
Queenie. Happy belated bday !!!
I've been very sick. Thought for sure we were hospital bound Friday night. Dh kept plugging me with meds. Both for vomiting , diahrea and pain. He must have massaged me for hours. Finally fell asleep. Starting to feel better but still pretty rough. Of the joys of cancer
Hootie hoo
-
Patty, so sorry you're feeling like crap. Vomiting and diarrhea suck.
-
happy late birthday queenie!!!
Hubby's birthday is today
-
mammaray, happy you are being sprung tomorrow . Hug to you my friend
Patty, hugs to you to sister, boy I wish you could catch a break, like for an entire year. You deserve that . Hope you are feeling well enough not to go back to the hospital . Prayers your way
-
susan. Aww thanks. A break would be wonderful !!!!!! Hope your dh had a great bday. Another year with you. That rocks !
-
Susan3: Awwww, an owl (birthday) cake! Trust me, there's enough for everyone on the Insomniacs thread, and I'm ever so happy to be able to share cake and loving camaraderie with all of you.
Even though I may move forward (and thereby off the boards to a considerable extent) with my life, I am bringing all of you with me in my heart. In a complete absence of gooieness: You support(ed) me when I need it, and hopefully I you in turn. For the moment, I've gone back to school at the local community college. We'll see where this goes.
-
just keep your name on..this way I can pm you when I need a queenie fix
. Good luck with school
-
Just a quick drop in to wave hello. I'm back to the real world tomorrow after being off for 4 months. Think I'm ready besides the wake up time of 5am.....oh and the fact that it's a full moon. Always a little extra crazy around that time for some reason. Had a good weekend, though I didn't make it to the beach. Another time.
Smaarty-Hope you are having a great vacation. Sorry you didn't get to do the hot air ballons, but 249 a person, is a lot!!
JeanQ-Still doing good without any drains?
JazzyJune-Glad you decided on a pup. I agree with Lover, Kirby is cute, I also liked Tucker. What were the other possibilities? Can't wait to see the pics.
Lover-How was the hike? Not real sure about that blanket you posted. Between you and Shep, my eyes are hurting
Queenie-Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day.
Hello to all the other owlettes. Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
-
Susan3: the 'normal spaghetti' pot's always on for you, and we might even be talked into be making coffee for you. Ping me when you want company, and keep in mind that DH and I are within spitting distance of downtown Chicago.
Sensi: I'm cool with belated birthday wishes, given that I tend to spread my OWN birthday out over a several-days period. Why limit yourself to just the one day?
-
MamaRay- wishing you a quick release from the hospital and a speedy recovery. I love doing yard work.
Patty dear- so sorry you have been sick. Sounds like you are doing better now. Did the funeral go okay for your DH's loved one?
Queenie- congrats on going back to college! I have known several sisters here who have gone on to finish degrees or started new adventures. We wish you the very best!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
-
Queenie, Good luck with school. I returned and got a master degree when I was 54 (the same age my great grandmother graduated from high school). Grandma was the oldest and my mother was the youngest.
-
Sensi - Congrats & good luck on your first day back in the real world. I sure hope it doesn't totally wear you out.
Well, here he is, my new little guy at 4 weeks of age. Only 34 more days until I get to bring him home. He does look a bit like a "Kirby", doesn't he?
Patti - I hope you're feeling better today and will be able to get some restful sleep tonight.
Queenie - I agree with you on the spreading your birthday out to a birthday week, etc. After all it only comes once a year.
Susan - Is that owl really a cake? If so, who ever made it sure is skilled in cake decorating.
Shep - You've been rather quiet. I hope you're doing okay.
Feline - That little mouse winking back at us sure is cute.
Well I'll say goodnight for now. Sleep well everyone!
-
Best wishes with your college course Queenie - you will knock their socks off!
