thanks all for making me laugh. Holding Elena right now...ahhhh peace
Holeinone, so sorry things are still spreading..sending love and hugs
Is the foot any better??
-
Ms. S, have fun in Tahoe. It will be in the high 90's and will hit triple digits towards the end of the week here in the valley.
Sensi, not a good feeling in the stomach when a med error is made, even minor ones. Fatigue and pressure to perform are ingredients for disaster waiting to happen. Sorry your first day returning to work was not a smooth one.
Susan, peace is what we yearn for. Happy you had a talk with Claire. I'm waiting for the right time (when words of wisdom find me) to clear the air.
Queenie, we are blessed to have varieties of ethnic foods here in California. If I remember correctly, youused to live here, yeah?? I would die if I live in Michigan. Too cold. Maybe that's why you don't have very many Asians living nearby. Ha! Eskimos have different genes.

Loverly ~ Bioluminescent phytoplankton, so beautiful! Have you seen Life of Pi? Very thoughtful, spiritual film. There was a lovely scene in the movie with the ocean glowing from the phytoplankton. Hope things are happier for you today. Mens....ugg.
Feline ~ You had an adventure! Yay! And so much better than your last solo outing
How fun to meet all those people from around the world! I always enjoy hearing about where other folks are from and what tales they have to tell. To have two whole days to spend enjoying nature and taking photographs sounds heavenly. I love your pics! RoboCop Bird indeed! lol I don't know much about birds; very cool to learn through your eyes/lens.....more please!
Wenchie ~ Mothers and daughters......such screwy dynamics. My mom and I are besties long distance. Not so much if we are together for any period of time in person. She is also in poor health and it is frustrating trying to help her with day to day things being 1,000 miles apart. I've tried setting her up on a tablet and a Chrome Box for her TV. She's paid for internet service for 4 years and still can't figure out how to use her devices to get online. Oy. Awesome your in laws are so great! That's the way it should be! Especially because they share so much in common with us
Susan ~ Keep laughing and get plenty of Elena lovin'. Gotta appreciate the irony of the hatefulness of Andrew's mother being turned around into such a silly source of giggles for all of us
Hiho ~ Who knew you had such a wicked streak? Love it! Don't love pain. Uck. Staying on top of it is hard. Especially when learning how to manage "new" pain. Plus the stress of the damned disease. ((hugs)) Only advice I have is never take "no" for an answer when it comes to your needs, concerns and comfort. It took my MO a little while to "learn" me. He calls me his "pain in the butt" and I'm glad. I stand out from his other patients. The nickname is said with affection; love my MO. How many docs can you hold hands and argue with at the same time?
Sensi ~ I smile everytime I see your new avatar
Don't be so hard on yourself about work. Gosh, just back from surgery and having to learn a new system? Girl, you are T-U-F-F, TUFF! Even tuff gals need to take it easy sometimes - hope you can slow down a little and are getting enough rest.
JunieB ~ Another Tuffie! I am in awe of your mobility! Hope your pain is being properly managed. Blah on the processed food. Too bad it's not a Skilled Cooking Facility
And falling is scary and I don't like it. I have numbness in my left leg from spinal pressure. I put my good foot out onto the bathmat to exit the tub and the other leg went out on me. I twisted as I fell so I wouldn't knock my head on the loo and landed with the top of my neck banging on the wall and my back on the floor. Good thing the kitty wasn't in with me or there may have been a Prison Break! (I've soooo been waiting to say that!)
M0mmy ~ You are so mean, not telling us more Princess stories! So sweet your hubbie loves her too
I very much admire The Chris Hemsworth. I had to look up Travis Fimmel....... Oh My! Those blue eyes! Very Nice!
Eeyore ~ Thank you for blowing in to offer advice on my avatar pic! It is a big decision. The stuffie pic made me think of you
Seeing two stuffies in one photo seems to have rattled Loverly....I think she had a bad experience with puppets in her past. I don't wanna know - somethings are best kept private! Glad you're still hanging with us!
Queenie ~ If second story windows were meant to be cleaned from the outside, they would be on the first floor! Silly!
Wrenn ~ Raccies are generally more huff and puff than fight. I have heard that if a hunting dog chases one that the raccoon will draw it to water and drown it. If it's true, then it is fine by me. Hunting dogs are dangerous to critters and people. The only animal I am scared of is a possum. Nasty and viscous creatures. One of my cats way back when nearly died after being attacked by one. Hate 'em. There is bad stuff in all the wild animal poop. Things that can make people and pets sick. We try to encourage our visitors to stay on the other side of the fence now. Coyotes are bad everywhere now it seems. Two kitties have disappeared from our house here. One probably was a coyote, the other I am thinking was stolen.
Smaarty ~ Have fun in Tahoe! How is sick kitty? Does he travel with you?
Lookie ~ Put some meat on those bones! lol Never knew there were snakes and such neat rock formations in Canada - wow! Here if some one does you dirty we say you were hoo-doo'd!
Hope I didn't forget anyone - big wave to all!
HiHo was sweet to say I had cute feet. Had to look appropriate in today's foot pic........ Still pouffy and sore but not as bad..........
-
sheps...I saw life of Pi....why didn't I understand it??? I live in a very black and white world...when it ended I was like...what!!!!!!!! That really didn't all happen.....kinda of like mobydick...whale, guy, obsession, the end. I don't like poetry or metaphors...just tell me what your thinking...don't make me figure it out...anhhhh
-
and your foot does look a little better....still be kind to it
-
Susan3: you didn't understant Life of Pi because it's hard to understand. Nothing to do with you.
-
I took it to mean that people find it easier to believe in evil deeds and horrible experiences than to believe in a true miracle. I watched Life of Pi with DS and his friend. We had such a deep discussion afterwards. We each agreed Pi's first "story" was the true one 😊
-
Jazzy ~ I am still looking for my lavender oil....... maybe it's under JunieB 's missing crib blanket?
SassyFrass ~ I think we all need this shirt!
l
-
interesting shepki
-
all you lovely ladies told me a foam topper would make a difference. It really does. Look who else is looking to go upstairs to bed
-
Shep- I hope you find it or send someone out to get more! Your foot looks much less swollen today.
-
green beans
-
my gardens must love the heat. It's been 90, for awhile now. Cool, nights. Garden is happy
-
radishes beets and cucumbers. And another tomtao in the back. Yummy more peppers In the front
-
Susan3 happy garden. Crunch up a radish for me.
ShepKitty: my windows shall remain smutzed. You're right--silly!
-
Susan & Queenie ~ The ending of The Life of Pi has different meanings to different people. I found this person's interpretation beautiful.......
"Actually, it IS about one's belief in God. Does one believe in something that is unbelieveable or one that is logical in one's mind? For faith is to believe with one's heart and not one's head. Faith is to believe in the unbelieveable. And so it goes with God. That is what makes a believer."
😇
Susan ~ Cool beans ! Very clever the way your veggies are boxed in. Everything looks so pretty!
Queenie ~ Who are we to tamper with Mother Nature's organic UV protection? Yup, silly to worry about those windows
-
Susan, I love it when our pup friends are ready to go to bed with us! My DH was out of town one weekend so I was very shocked to find a big warm body next to me in bed! My Chocolate Lab Abbey-Gail had climbed into bed with me for the first time ever! I almost had a heart attack!!
-
Chance just takes the whole bed!
-
There's a sliver left off to his left! lol He's beautiful!
-
Good Evening Ladies,
I had my first post-op appt. w/ surgeon. Went well. I'd post a pic of my healing incision, but don't think that would be appropriate. TMI.
Hadn't had a good cup of coffee for the last 11 days, so I went to the hospital coffee bar. Yummmmm! However the walking about did me in. Pain level shot up to an 8. Ugh!
When I got back to SNF took pains meds and just wanted to rest, but Pfizer called and I spent an hour on the phone discussing the fact that I'd had surgery and all my meds. Then the P.T. showed up to torture me more.
Smaarty - I will be here until approx. July 5th. Despite the processed food I need this time to transition to home.
Have a wonderful time in Lake Tahoe. North or South? I lived in South Lake Tahoe in my mid-twenties. Worked at Harrah's Casino.
Shep - Prison break, nice one. Glad your foot is looking better. I've never tried the lavender oil Jazzy suggested, but have used the Arnica Loverly spoke of. Great stuff. Hope what ever you choose, you'll have good results.
Love your John Deere. I want one. Is it turbo charged? Zoom Zoom!
Still haven't found that crib blanket either. So frustrated with myself sometimes. Hate wasting time looking for stuff.
Holeinone - Sorry to hear of your progression.
Susan - my jaw just dropped when I read what Claire's MIL said to you. But since I've never been married I don't have any great words of wisdom, but so glad you had the opportunity to speak with Claire and express your heart.
Garden is very nice. How long until you get to harvest the fruits of your labor?
I'm gonna shoot this phone pretty soon here. The auto- correct is driving me nuts! It turned "driving" into "drinking", "fruits" into "frits" Ugh!
Feline - the Puffins are beautiful. Your trip sounds like a lot of fun.
Sensi - Sorry your first day back was so challenging, but each day will get better.
Chance looks very comfortable.
Queenie - loved your response to Susan about the MIL debacle.
One of the Occupational Therapist's told me he has a "Borgi" I said "A What?" As it turned out that's a border collie + corgi. Pretty cute dog, but I just can't fathom how they did that. Which one was the dad, which one the mom?
Well I think I'm caught up for now and pain meds are kicking in, so I'm gonna crawl into bed. Nighty Nite Ladies. Hope you all enjoy a restful nights sleep.
-
shepkitty, foot looks better. Tinker is mostly fine. Very little blood in his urine and not much calcification which is a good thing. She did say something was off on his blood work, so should bring him back in, in 2-4 weeks. Also should bring in the other cats to see which one had the bloody urine. Nobody has does it again since Friday.
Susan, you're holding Elena and we didn't get a pic?? How could you, instead we get beans
So I finished the main project I took, Ben's quilt for the shower in August. Turns out it hard to find Peter Rabbit fabric. Luckily a friend had some and the backing fabric and wasn't going to use it. These are fabric panels and embroidered designs. Too late tostart something tonight and I'm too tired to think about it.
Very nice here, in the low 80s. At home it 100s.
Night all, going to go crash
-
Happy summer solstice, I went outside just before 11:00 to take picture. The mosquitoes drove me back in.
-
Smaarty - you did a beautiful job. Sleep well.
-
Junie I hope your fatigue is better today. Surgery takes so much out of us, glad to hear you are able to walk the hallways. Don't let the PT do you in. I'm like you can not go without a good cup of coffee.
Shep your foot looks less bruised and the swelling has gone down, your flowered band is stunning. The John Deer ride looks styling.
Loverly that is a beautiful picture of bioluminescent phytoplankton, where does this occur. Would love to see that someday, as well as Puffins.
Susan lovely pictures of your garden everything looks healthy and thriving. The comment that your daughter's MIL made was inappropriate and insensitive.
My dog has slept with me for fifteen years, until he fell off the bed in February. He now sleeps on the floor, I have to say a get a better nights sleep.
Sensi he looks so comfy and yes he does take up the whole bed.
Smarty you certainly can whip out those quilts fast, Benjamin will love it. I spend more time deciding what to do. I ordered some quilting books from Amazon last weekend, and popped into the quilt store and saw the same book was 50% more .
-
Smaarty - gorgeous Beatrix Potter quilt! Congratulations.
-
-
Nothing to see here folks, move along!
-
Lookie - Have you ever checked out the "Missouri Star Quilt Company"?
They sell fabrics, but also have many tutorial videos on youtube. Free to see.
Smaarty - Have you ever checked out Fabric.com? They sell tons of fabrics at much more reasonable prices than quilt shops.
And I think they may have some of the Peter Rabbit fabric.
Shep - nightmare pic.
-
Groin pain quite significant since surgery. One of the points of this surgery was to replace and adjust the hardware so the tendons wouldn't get irritated. Well still waiting for the lack of irritation. Called surgeons office today. Hope it will resolve in time.
Oh yeah, Shep, how's the foot today?
-
"still waiting for the lack of irritation" - JazzyJune I am so glad to see that the pain hasn't killed your great sense of humour! Hope you will be feeling the benefits of the surgery soon.
