Okay.... make note..... Do NOT try and pour coffee from your official Bonavita coffee maker without attaching the pouring top! DAMN! It's a TERRIBLE thing to waste coffee....
Good to see you again Deb..... sorry about that news.... I know it's easy to say "don't worry"..... but it's just natural. We do that until we find or hear some sort of re-assurance that we are okay. Yes.... get tests.... Did you say an MRI ??? Aren't those the tests that you lay on this machine and this horrific pounding and ringing and train-wrecking sounds are? And you think you are part of some horror movie?
But if that is what they have to do, get drunk first.... or high.... I've heard that helps.
Mags.... so what's this? You say your friend is a perennial student, like annual growing plants, is a Lesbian, and drinks beer? And he has been kidnapped? You just made this all up!! He sounds like my kind of guy also! Just have fun with him.... her..... whatever!
Peppermint! So did you see the pictures I posted on your thread? Is that what they might do, is stabilize your femur? And then mine grew back together again..... At least I'm assuming it has...But they probably won't break yours..... just add parts!
Now watch Sassy see this, and think WTH is SHE doing giving our Pep medical advice! I will not only give advice, I'll come do the surgery FOR you! Hah! I could be the assistant.... because I know what is going on.
Yes Loverly! WHAT choo mean? "Was I sitting down?" Do I look like I was standing? That would make me 2 feet tall! With shoes on!..... And that was taken at my house... but I hardly recognized the furnishings, the wall, or MAN have I made changes! I even painted that old "stereo phonograph radio set" antique orange! Hah! It played 45's, 78's and 33 1/3rds! Man that thing was ancient..... shut up Spookie....
Go take a picture of your 75 degree morning and post it to warm us all up.... with your flip-flops on. It's 7 here this morning.
I think I had a "bug".... I'm better today.... drank green-tea with Aloe Vera all day.... I TOLD you guys.... When you don't feel good, go get some from Walmart, and mix it with juice or tea, and HONEST it will help you.... My DD Sheri just can't get past the "Turpentine" taste... but if you mask it enough, it is just FINE! I told her she is just a panty-waist....... DH will drink it straight...!
Gals, that was so sweet, trying to assure Deb that she will be okay.... Thanks Susan, .... wait, I have to go back to see who else did.....
Edited to add...... Jazzy, Loverly .... oh CRAP! And Lil goats.... ! My mind is a steel-trap! Nothing goes in, or OUT.... Ha!
-
Now SEE? I woke up, and you guys left! Guess I'll just sit here.... all alone......... sniff...........
-

Hi Deb, Hugs and welcome back. Sorry that you are back to worrying. Hang tight and continue to work the problem. I'm going to link to a thread I worked on this summer. If you have surgery the info there is very important. They're are numerous studies. Can be difficult. The key is that Toradol given at time of surgery may be associated with reducing recurrence. Also, the use of blocks and opiods can influence recurrence. It has to do with inflammation, release of tumor cells at time of excision, circulating tumor cells present at surgery, and tumor cells that have already embedded at a distant site but are inactive till stimulated by the inflammatory cascade during surgery and in the post surgical period. I'm sure you are shaking your head already. Trust me it's doable.
One of the gals Falleaves has written a letter that identifies the top studies, that can be copied and taken to your doc. Please, don't just depend on the letter. You need to understand the info. Falls, 123JustMe, and I did a round robin on linking the three topics. Reading the entire Toradol topic is important which you will see why when you plow through the material.
Great way to spend your New Years--studying. Bless you.
This link is to a page that includes two Doc letters. MIne and Falleaves. They both encompass what the need to know info that should be communicated to the Doc and Anesthesiologist. Read the letters first before diving into the other material. It will help you focus on what's being discussed. Analogous to reading and abstract before reading the full study.
Post any questions you have on the Toradol page.

We usually cook dinner when our friend comes, but he's not been here in a couple of years, so we are taking him to our new favorite Mexican restaurant. When DH texted him that, his response was that he would dance around the table singing La Cucaracha. Arriba! What a character.
But first I have to get through this stinkin neuro appointment. I will enjoy firing him, but I want to hear what he has to say for himself.
Guess I better go have a shower and get dressed. The shower in our master bath has been leaking, and we finally shut the water off to it and have been using the guest bath which is a regular tub.
The ice is sliding off the roof making an awful racket. -
Mags, If he does the dance, be sure to get a photo. Good luck with the Neuro.
Deb, MRI's have a lot of false positives. I'm thinking it could be scar tissue.
-
She DID it! I knew THAT would wake her...(Spookers) up! OMG that sounds so warm......... It is here too....but only with our furnace or heaters on....
We went shopping to spend my Bath & Body shop gift card, AND our Target gift card.... AND that Starbucks in Target had that big bag of Christmas De-caf on sale for $7.29!!!!! 1/2 price! And it that wasn't good enough, you buy one and get one free! YOWSERS! So I now have 4 !
Hope Janie still drinks decaf coffee.... Hah!
Morning to you Glennie... What did your gynecologist say? Do you like him/her? It's been a LONG time since I had one of those appointments....
Have fun Mags! I love Mexican food....
Peppermint! I just bought some Starbucks Peppermint Mocha iced coffee on SALE! 2 bottles! Must have been selling out their Christmas supply! Now I have to grind some coffee.... ! Doesn't take much to make ME happy!

Hi Chevy,, love that dog picture! Yes, I love my GYN,, she is awesome. I'd see the PA at my PCP yesterday,, (long story I won't bore you with) and she freaked me out,, told me I needed a pelvic ultrasound,, got me in to see my GYN today, and lo and behind,, it is a simple bacterial infection in my va-jay-jay. Had me all freaked out over nothing. My GYN, who I've seen for like 12 years, was just shaking her head, like What is wrong with that PA?? Anyway, freak out over!! 5 days of Flagyl up there and I'll be right as rain.
-
chevy. Peppermint mocha sounds delicious
Mags. - you gotta dance with him !!!! Let dh take pics. Life's a dance we learn as we go. Dance on mags.
Glennie. - hooray! Glad to hear freak is over. Darn pa.
My ds1 Got text at 4 a.m. today. We always make the boys keep their phones downstairs on the kitchen counter after 9 p.m. . Don't want them texting and calling all night long. So I got up to see who on earth would be texting at 4 a.m. Bad news. His very good friend from school said his mom died this morning. I wasn't sure if it was a joke or what. But certainly would have been a sick joke. Ds1 got up at 6 a.m. and I told him a message. He texted him back and theybtexted several times apparently it's true. Ds1 called him and said the boy was crying and sobbing. Said he spent most all this week at his grandmother's house. Said grandma got a call early this morning and started crying. They all got up and went to his house. Said ambulance was there but mom was already dead. Have been dead several hours but no one knew. Ds1 asked if she was murdered and he said no he didn't know what happened but he would find out. This is so heartbreaking. Of course this has ds1 thinking about finding me dead. Which is a a repeating nightmare in which he has had. Has been a lot of today talking snuggling crying. I don't know her but ds1 says he's never mentioned that she's fighting any kind of serious illness. God bless his heart. Only 13 years old.
Hugs all around.
Hootie hoo
-
oh Patty, that is so sad. Poor little guy.
-
Ah geez, Patty.....poor babies, both yours and his friend. What a nightmare for children to have to deal with the unfairness.....
-
Ms. Chevy, I knew that you are the one sitting down in the picture. You still have the same eyes and smile. The starbuck girl sounds like she is from California
Glennie, lol @ the variation of the name of V
Mag, your friend sounds like a neat person. Did he do mission work in Burma?
Deb, I hope my post didn't come across as not acknowledging your anxiety and concern. Just as Ms. Wren mentioned, I really hope that it is scar tissue. When are they planning to do the biopsy? The thought of traveling down the same unpleasant path and not knowing what is ahead is scary. Hugs
-
GEEZ Glennie! You mean like a yeast infection? I always used to get those, when I was much younger.... I was allergic to Flagyl.... It's a sulfa drug, right?
My OLD Doctor that delivered me AND my girls said just use vinegar and water.... to rinse out with.... Okay, now write this last bit of advice down.. Do NOT use more than what they say.... like 1/4 C. of vinegar in a water bottle, filled with water..... that you hang on the wall above the tub....
So me in all my wisdom, and urgency to get this cleared up, thought okay, if 1/4 C is advised, then use 1 cup and it will work better.....
No-one in their right mind would do that! So THEN I burned myself so bad I could barely walk! I went back to old Dr. Brown.... He calmly painted me with this purple-stuff...!!! Then I had a pickled-purple-..... p.... um cat!
I could not stand with my legs together for DAYS...! So was it THAT?
I finally had to have a conization.... don't know if they even DO that anymore! That's where they take off part of your whatever.... something UP there... probably your cervix..... THEN my DH even had to take pills! Because I would get re-infected..... Oh God..... the horrors of it all. But as I got older and wiser, (presumably) it all went away.
I'm so sorry for your Son Peppermint.... and his friend and family.... That is just awful.... Especially under the circumstances.... Just such a tragedy.....
Loverly.... wish I still looked like that.... Ha!
Take good care gals! xoxo
-
Chevy. U too funny pickled purple ....
-
Chevy, that was definitely a case of "if a little is good, more is better",,, NOT! OW!!! You can get yeast or bacteria infections down there,, this is bacteria. Flagyl is not a sulfa drug, but you could be allergic to either or both. You can pass bacteria infections back and forth between you and hubby,, when I had one a long time ago, boyfriend had to take Flagyl too. Now there is no man to worry about,, LOL,, and they have this nice Flagyl gel to put up there. Much better, less side effects.
Lover: glad you like the V name,, LOL,, but I didn't make that one up. It has been around,,,,
-
I learned.... I finally got a prescription for Monistat 7.... but it was expensive at that time... I had heard that taking anti-biotics would bring it on... Maybe because it disrupted your natural what-ever? I just knew whenever I got sick, they prescribed an anti-biotic for Asthma, pneumonia, etc. and I would get that infection....
Funny thing I remember..... My Mom always asked where it hurt.... and I would say "down-nair".... I don't know why I would have that problem THEN! But we didn't call it a V-anything...
-
Yay Glennie!!
Patty, so sorry about the boys mom
Chevy no more Starbucks for you today.
-
deb, just because one person had the same diagnosis initially doesn't mean yours will be the same!!!!
Stay positive!!! Prayers going up for u!!!!
-
Chevy, My friend's doctor prescribes the yeast medicine automatically when she prescribes antibiotics. Thinking ahead.
-
Hi ladies! Thank you for all the wonderful information, input, and suggestions! What an amazing group you all are.
Sas - Thank you so much for the link! Lots to study, but greatly appreciated!!! It's important to always be fully prepared before anything and knowledge is power! xo
Chevyboy - Gotta love that MRI...not!!!
Hugs to all of you! Hope you all have a great night!!! xo

So sad Patty. I know we never really know what goes on in other peoples' lives. Big hugs for your son and for you too. And certainly for his best friend.
Deb - so what's the plan now?
Mags - pictures are an absolute necessity. And dancing with your friend. He sounds marvelous. Did your trees survive? My rosemary bush is springing back to it's normal kinda bent shape. Not so sure about the cover to the dog run the goats use in summer. I have locked them out of it for 2 days fearing it might rip and dump ice on an unsuspecting goat.

Gawd, you guys have been busy. I've been working on a new thread on pain. Should have done it years ago.
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/6/topics/839123?page=1#idx_8
Mags, thanks. Tomorrow I'll work on the thing I want to do for you. But had to write all the other stuff to put it in context. You can start using the pain documentation chart. Which actually, helps me too.
-
Patty, If the doc says surgery for the hip. Ask him How many he has done with the same background i.e bone mets and how did they turn out. Choice of type of appliance will be determined by what is to be done. When do you see the ortho doc?
Deb glad it seems useful post questions re: that info on the Toradol thread and I will answer.
Need to go play
