Smaarty: it's always Santa time! As for my revision surgery, so far so good! Scars still livid, and the swelling still noticeable, but already better looking than before PS had his way with me. Not quite two weeks out.
Feelingfeline: meeting a fellow at a barre, huh? was it what you'd hoped?
Patty: still scratching head about neighbor's husband's thought process.....
-
Thanks Feline.... I was going to figure out HOW in the hell SHE, miss smarty-pants didn't GET it! But maybe she got yours....???
Yes Spookie.... That IS me with a chocolate coke.... which reminds me I need to pick up more Chocolate Syrup!
And you just made that up! I mean to "block the wind"...... Did you guys see what she just said? I suppose if you were out front in a blizzard it would "block the wind" but most people are not out on the lawn in a tornado.... so that's why we don't have "wing-back" chairs.
I have to study this further....

My elf left me a cool window toy - some of those copper fit gloves with no fingertips so I can still use my phone and iPad. Because the AIs make my fingers ache.
Ok it's story telling time for Patty. DH and I never really played a lot of music together, we had totally different styles. He's more bluegrass, I'm more folk songs. Flatt & Scruggs vs Joan Baez. But I will tell you how we met. DH's love has always been theater. When he was in the Air Force, if his duty station didn't have a theater group, he'd start one. So when he was transferred to the base near here, he started one. Their first show was a melodrama (he called them mellerdramas) but while they were in rehearsal, he got sent away for training so he couldn't be in it.
My youngest sister had been dating an airman named Doc. And even though they broke up, he'd become a fixture around my mom's, fixing things for her and stuff. So he got involved with the theater group and invited me to come to their show, and he wanted me to meet one of the actors. I could come to the cast party, and the actor, a Lt., would drive me home. So that night, my sis and BIL-to-be (they were getting married in a couple of weeks) took me to the show, and left afterward. I got to the cast party, and Doc told me the Lt.'s folks had showed up so he wasn't coming. But he would take me home. So I stayed, and the gang was playing charades. I'd never played before but it was fun. And this guy came in around midnight and sat on the stairs near me. (We were at a rec room with a sunken dance floor.) So it was his turn to act out a charade, and he got up and started, and I guessed his charade in 9 seconds. It was A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He says that's when he fell in love with me.
Well, Doc's new girlfriend wasn't happy about him driving me home, so he asked someone to take me. So this sergeant volunteered. And the rest is history. You guessed it, the sergeant was the charade guy! He drove me home, and by then it was three in the morning, so I said, how about a cup of coffee (because we were way across town from the base), so I made coffee and we sat on the floor and talked until 9 in the morning, and he told me all about his family, and his grandma who taught him to cook Polish food and all. And two months and a week later, we stood in front of a cross-eyed justice at the courthouse and said I do, then went to my sis and BIL's house and had their leftover wedding cake and champagne, and that was the first time my mom met him, and she came to love him as a son. And he brought her to live with us when she was 80.
So now we are married 28 years, we never had children of our own to raise, but we loved my sister's kids like they were. And we've lost our parents, so we are now orphans too, and we've seen cancer and liver disease and arthritis and I still can't get rid of the guy. Just kidding.
And there's your fairy tale for the day, Miss Peppermint. -
OM Dears What a Chatty Bunch. I made another grocery run for stuff I had forgotten. How can 3 people plan to eat that much? I do not know. But I do send lots of leftovers with DD.
Will jump back on it a bit. Patty I haven't read if you're getting sprung today. I hope the nasty weather is passing you by already. Any others in the south keep a close eye out. Sounds particularly dangerous. Hinting we may get snow maybe this weekend and maybe again for New Years. It might miss us just to the west though. I hear it may come as close as Abilene which is 2 hours west, 130 miles.
-
Mags, That's a great fairy tale!
My niece's daughter is married with 3 children. The daughter's husband is a train wreck. So he started an affair with another women and now the 3 of them are living together amiably. He thinks he's got it made with 2 women. SIL says the other woman is the most reliable of the bunch. They are going to be featured in a news story about triad families.
Patti, That really is strange Dec weather in Ark. I heard there may be tornado warnings. Stay safe.
-
Wing chairs are great for napping in. Built in head supports for us leaners
-
Love your fairy tale Mags
-
The last episode of Elementary that I watched had a triad family on it. I'd never heard of it before. Very. Strange.
-
Mags, wonderful story.
-
Wonderful stories
Thanks Spookie.
Feline Welcome here. Hope you stay
-
Love reading all the stories.
The look on your brother's face is priceless, Ms. Chevy! Love it!
Mag, the rose centerpiece goes perfectly with the beautiful china set.
When I read this " wing back chairs were made like that to block drafts.", for a few seconds I honestly thought you meant internal draft
-
think drafty castles.
-
I am so glad you don't think like me.
Internal draft = internal gas = flatulence
-
Ah, Loverly, it could truly be said of this wing back that it has blocked many of those as well.
-
wren. - I never heard of a triad family either. I Learn something new everday.
Feline. - I agree with sas - stick around. You def add something to our group. Thanks for reposting Chevy's pic
Chevy - oh my. You were adorable !!!!! Love that look on your bro's face.
Mags. - sweet , super sweet. LOVE your love story. Thanks for sharing ! So did the sarge move you t around a lot ?
Well I didn't get sprung. Dang vomiting. But tomorrow for sure even if I have to rip out these iv myself. Dr said plan for after 3 pm.
We got some serious hail earlier. Dh already filed claim with insurance. I am impressed. I worry how he will be able to do everything when I die but he continues to surpass my expectations. We have serious damage to 2 sides of house need siding replaced. Also serious damage to 3 cars ( not sure if they will total them ). Luckily dh's baby ( camaro) was in our shop. Dh said hauil just came up out of nowhere. No time to go to storm cellar. Neighbor has many house windows broken out and a huge leak in ceiling. Gotpucs of golf ball to tennis ball size hail. If I can just figure out how to post them without downloading all his phone pics to my computer. Always something. Ugh. Guess it could be worse - could be uninsured. Can already feel Allstate insurance premiums rising but no way to fix this out of pocket. I was happy that dh was off work so dss were not home alone.

Chit Patty. No reports of tornadoes? Mags posted so, she's okay. Wonder how Phyliss, Mema, Lilgoats, Susan, Chevy are?
Triad? How is a triad different than polygamy?
-
Hah - nice question Sas. Just sounds more respectable perhaps?
Patty I am sorry you are still not well. Best wishes for getting your Christmas present of release papers. Sounds like you were in the right place when that hail came though - far way! We do not have hail like that here ever so I am picking my jaw off the floor after reading...
Mags - I love hearing how people met! Great story. Hang on to him, he's a keeper!
-
PS: It is so interesting to hear all you US girls mentioning the unseasonably warm weather (hail excepted) .
Ireland and the UK are currently on course to have the mildest December on record - Coinccidence?.... I think not ! (insert sound effect of your choice)
One of the most striking pictures of the unseasonably blooming spring flowers posted in recent days was by The Guardian newspaper - daffs with a Christmas tree in the background in a London park.
-
good mornings ladies.
I had a horrible night mentally. Just couldn't shake it off. Not much to do to entertain myself here. This time of night TV has 100 channels of infomercials. Didn't want to call and wake anyone. I finished my book yesterday and my tablet was dead, too far reach to charge and use simultaneously. Finally its partially charged. Decided to come here and think about something else.
Wake up Chevy.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas eve today.
Hootie hoo
-
Okay, I'm here! Just been reading what you guys said.... Don't go anywhere... get another cup of coffee, and I'll post more!
-
hootie hoo patty. Praying you get sprung today. You and rose may be on the same boost diet. Put a candy cane in yours:)
My premiums didn't go up when my new car was damaged.
Thanks for the daff pix.
DD is three. Spiked a fever yesterday. How many times can I watch frozen?
Yes will make reindeer food for Santa. Pkg arrived from Ireland so crisps will be on santas plate.
Sas I wondered the same thing.
Must go rescue the eggs and get cracking!
-
hah was that Tayto Zills?
-
Wait.... don't go posting any of your Husband's pictures Peppermint! It ain't safe! I mean who KNOWS what you will find on there.... I've read about those things, and how people tend to get embarrassed, and it ain't good.... okay?
Hail? Oh hell no! We have had a lot of hail-storms, but none that bad.... I mean our roof over our hallway can leak in a heavy down-pour.... But I think we got that fixed now.... Janie's friend came with 2 gallons of this tar-stuff, and smathered it all over the seams and nail-holes... and now it's fine. THEN, about 15 minutes later, this HUGE wind-storm blew every leaf off of every tree in the whole world onto this tar-patch! I mean REALLY? All you can do is laugh.... "It added insulation" she said.... but with all this snow, it is losing the leaf covering.... it was like those houses you see somewhere, that have sod roofs! Except this was 16 jillion leaves.... all stuck to this "stuff."
Patty, can't you get "Cops"? I watch that sometimes about midnight when I can't sleep.
I'm going to bake our Ham today.... for tomorrow's breakfast.... eggs Benedict, with Hollandaise sauce, and lots of it.... on toasted English Muffins!
We had the BEST prime-rib dinner yesterday afternoon! We went to Rosie's house.... I'll post a couple pictures later, so Loverly, you can see what she looks like....
Okay.... I'm going to get started around here.... Our new neighbor "Vanessa" emailed me and said she has some Christmas Cookies for us, and will we be home.... So I emailed back and asked "So does this mean I have to do my hair?"
She sounds like my new friend! We have emailed a lot, but haven't met her face to face yet! Doesn't this sound like fun? I have to fix something appropriate...to drink..... I hope I don't scare her..........
-
So I go away for a few minutes, to give you a chance to post back, and you were up and GONE! I can't keep track of you...
Here is my little Brother.... and what he has done....
http://www.cowboyjackclement.com/news/niles/120315interview_kenny.html And ME? I can cook a mean pot of beans!
-
Well your brother really found his vocation!
I have a sneaking feeling your vocation is more than simply a pot of beans, seem to have seen some garden, crafts, animal stuff around these boards
-
Yes Feline.... Crafts! I love crafts, and crocheting, etc. It is soooo cold here.... supposed to get down to 2 degrees by Saturday morning..... I gotta stay warm and up-right, so I can go out in my gardens this Spring. Nothing is green! Wind blew like billy-hell last night.... my DH said so...Ha! I sleep through ANYthing, because I can't hear it.... Ha!
You know what is so special? Waking up to your Husband coming in, and crawling in bed with you, and holding you, like we always used to do when we slept together.... We just cuddled, and talked...... I just laid there thanking God for all that I have..... and for you guys.
-
-
doesn't say the humidity is about 90%. YUCK.
-
Hah! I just KNEW you were up! It's 20 degrees here..... 60% humidity.... Glad I don't have to be outdoors...
St. Augustine Florida......
Winter in the Colorado Rockies....
