Simplicity, Sorry you got transferred out of here. Right now it's changing so fast (thanks Amazon and Google) that we'll be New York or some soviet version of same in no time. It's a beautiful place.
-
I'm still sad of the whole Bacon thing..... also, Theresa is getting moved today to a rehab place. Supposed to be really nice, clean and small... If THIS don't work for her, then over to the long-term care part.
Right now she won't/can't move her little legs... They are so swollen and painful, and the Neuropathy makes it so she can't even sit, much less walk. So Judy, nor I think this will really work out.... We know her.... and how stubborn she is.... She thinks she just might hang it up, if it is too hard, or she loses her will to live..... That's what we are for.... I will go see her Thursday.... first time I could see or talk to her! It's been a week, and I'm used to talking to her every night.... I finally called her room today, but she wouldn't or couldn't answer the phone....
It's just like been going on for over a month.... slowly at first... some good, and some bad days... then the dehydration, and the blood transfusion, and she WAS just using a cane! Then a Walker, and then she passed out by her bed.... Gotta get that little sassy-pants on her feet....
Spookie! You are so cute!
-
I was laughing too when KJones shortened Belgian Mal to BM....I knew either you or Rose would make a comment.
Ms. CHEVY, I protest you changing Simplicity's name to Simplicitypatterns...it's tooooooo long. Did you see that she changed your name to CB and mine to LOL?? Hahahaha it took me a few seconds before the light bulb comes on.
Ms. BLONDIE, I love your new avatar!! Thought we had new blood. I wonder if Ms. CHEVY got confused.
And Ms. CHEVY, please don't make the corn on the cob as Ms. Sas suggested. You not only will lose your impression but the teeth nearby. You see Patty, I also don't have good teeth. Have a few crowns myself. I blame it on bad genes and not having dental care until I work and have insurance. Parents were dirt poor when we first came here. Struggled to put food on the table for eight of us kids. Dental care was on the bottom of the bucket

Ms. Spookie, Mitzi doesn't hate going into the crate when she is tired or when she doesn't want to play. She just doesn't like being locked up and no one is in sight. She voluntarily sleeps in it at night. I tried letting her roam around the house thinking maybe she doesn't like to be locked in there when we are away. She frantically paced the house looking for us about 5 minutes after I pretended to leave. We have security camera and often review it to see how she reacts when we are away. I feel so bad for her. She often goes into panic mode and try to dig herself out of the crate...very neurotic behavior. It's torturing for her. Last night we had a long talk about possibly re homing her with a retired person(s). She is such a loving and affectionate girl. She deserves a peaceful home. My DD said last night that she wishes that she could just do her school work at home so that Mitzi would not be alone. Minus the anxiety, she is a perfect dog.
Ms. Sas, I thought about moving the crate to a different location. The crate is currently in the kitchen next to the sliding door that leads to the backyard. Even with the tinnitus, I can here my neighbors' dogs and young kids when they are in their yard. The homes that are built these days do not have very good sound insulations.
Yes, I am all for celebrating aredo Patty's bd.

Ok, so ask the vet about Prozac for her, till she settles down. When DD got married, she had a male and female dogs. SIL had same. The boys did not get along. Poor Bruzier was getting mauled. 2 months of low dose Prozac, Timber got over himself. They never became best buds, but it worked.
-
Ms. Spookie, I forgot to add that Mitzi has already learned the basic commands. She is so smart that she found her way home one day. Okay, okay, it is not what you think. I was walking her one morning about 5 days after we got her. Two loose dogs approached us( one looks like a pit-bull mixed and the other one is lab mixed). They scared her (and me) so badly that I had to let go of my grip of her. In the panic mode, I didn't know what else to do. Went all over the neighborhood looking for her. I thought it was weird that the two dogs were hanging around in front of my house and that Mitzi was no where in sight. Yup, found her in the backyard pacing proudly. We couldn't figure out how she got in until we saw the recorded video....the girl jumped the fence! Amazing how she remembers her way home from only a few days with us

Ah geez! Am I dense or what? I didn't know who "cb" was! Not to mention "lol".... She's as bad as ME...Ha! Simply, this means you, missy! Ha!
All that link did was take me to Fb Simply! Not to who-ever you are... Shall I just look for Dick's Daughter?
Yes, I've heard of gals stopping chemo.... sometimes, depending on their circumstances, I applaud them for deciding what is best for them! Chemo can be much worse for some than it is for others.... I would feel bad too, but who knows.... with you as his guardian angel, she could out-live us all!
Oh Mags! Sorry about the mess..... guess it could have been worse... It COULD have been $100 bills, right?

Lover, the dog we watched for my friend literally chewed through the wires of her crate. Apparently, Bailey did this when she was in the hoarding situation because her teeth were extremely worn down and continued until she got use to being well cared for. I won't kid you it took months but she did settle. I do believe it was Prozac (could have been Paxil) that her vet put her on.
-
-
thank you Kathi!!
Mag, you are too funny! Attaboy, Nacho. He couldn't resist himself from the smell of sweets. Mine got a hold of DD1's swim snack the first week with us. Thank God it only had a few dark choco pieces. She did throw up yesterday after she got into the trash can and chomped down on a piece of egg plants and egg shells. Tried to give her fresh apples and carrots and she turned them down for trash. Go figure

Mags- I do a lot of work with electronic medical records for healthcare orgs, so I thought I would share the "isn't the EMR supposed to take care of this?" question. The intake process for most hospitals and doc offices is still pretty standard with the gazillions of forms on the first visit, and that will be entered into the system and become part of your chart. Once you go in the first time, you should not have to do that again, although during your subsequent visits, they may ask for input. The direct input happens mostly by the clinicians during the exams, the more "truly" electronic part for them.
Most EMR's have portals now where you can see info. I am not sure if you are allowed to change anything, including changes to your address, etc. but some may allow that.
I agree the lines for the surgeries is too tiny on most forms!
-
Oh my! My Reba chewed my walls as a pup. When I started crating her. She did fine for a long time but eventually went wacko! Haha Now shes the sweetest dog ever & a clinger!
CB-Im good with that
Hm. Didn't think the link looked complete...but I was so wiped today!
That was my personal, this is my update page. Not sure why other link didnt paste. Ugh.

Chevy, sorry about Theresa, so soory. The will to live and the bodies ability to live are two different things. The will may strong to the last moments of consciousness. The body wear's out. When it wear's out in the final days/weeks, they're is a certain predictable pattern. Theresa is following the natural course of dying. Yes, medicine can prolong things. But the decision to accept that this is a natural course can be hard. Hard on family members and friends. Hardest on the designated health care surrogate to say " do no more, keep them comfortable".
Bless you Chevy for being such a wonderful friend to Eddie(?) and Theresa. You made their life rich with your caring. You'll see them again.
-
Chevy, LOl You got a nickname -------a first, I saw that and did a double take..So funny So now simplicity is Smply. LOLOLOLOOL
Simplicity, if you can't figure out if Chevy is normal or not. She's abbynormal , but with a great streak of normal. AND this HUGE sense of comic ability that Saturday Night Live would die for.
Loverly, Kathy's right consider Prozac. Consider pumpkin pie filling for pushing through debrie.......check with vet................been there with dogs. God love them .
Simplicity unless you've heard otherwise , please, call Chevy , Chevy. So...funny CB. She has been giving people names since I've known her for about three years now. You are the first to give her a name....... Way funny. I expect now Chevy will give me a new name.......................
CHEVY>.............................

Chevy and Mags, you guys are cracking me up with these naughty dog pictures! Hope your appointment went well, Mags.
Chevy, I'm sorry to hear Theresa is not doing better. Maybe the rehab place will be a better situation for her. Can you go visit her there?

Probably something you know already, but are you filling those kongs with peanut butter? They make them by the trayful at the shelter and we used one with our crate trained dog. I have a friend who's dog learned to open the refrigerator. They had to put a belt around it and lock it. Obviously a smart dog.
Loverly, I hope you can handle the amount of exercise a Mal needs. And they're so smart they need jobs to do. They pulled ambulances during WWI.
-
Jazzy, if only that is possible....
Ms. Wren, haven't bought one yet, but consider getting one soon. I tried putting a small amount of her food bits, which she still loves and can't seem to get enough( don't worry we limit her food portion based on her weight), in a small water bottle to keep her occupied while I went for my Tuesday class today. She figured it out. I need to review the video to see how her anxiety level was during the two hours. I might need to take her to the vet for the Prozac if she doesn't show progress. I have tried putting the blanket over the crate and put the old sleeping bag inside her crate with little success. I probably need to persevere and keep her crate covered. We just moved the crate to our dining room area near the bottom of the stairs where she likes to wait for us every morning. Hoping this will help her. The poor thing looks so confused earlier when she was looking for a place to lie down. She actually does not mind the crate as long as we are home. I might need to clone one of us to stay home with her all the time hahaas
-
O no problem. I once just followed lazy typo hands on another support forum and it was BM lol I didn't make the connection immediately. I can already tell Chevy is a hoot! Normal is overrated.
-
Yup, she is one of a kind. But then again everyone on here is special in her own way. Some are more eccentrically normal than others.
-
lover, my Belgian sheepdog chewed the entire couch. After he got that out of his system he was fine..lol
Chevy, hope your visit with your friend goes well

Quick fly by post. Everything is just hunky dory in Texas. We missed most of the heavy rain, it was southeast of Dallas. I think we had about 4" of rain over a couple of days. First significant rain in at least of couple of months. DH and I have just had a busy 3 weeks or so. And I'm so far behind on here I will never catch up. I finally have an almost clear week next week so I might then. I have read some of the most recent posts but this last one dragged me back. Susan - I did not realize your DD was expecting. Wowzer. I am so, so happy for you. Has you SIL found out about his residency yet? I used to know what time of year they began, summer sometime? What a good time to go to see her.
I will attempt to do better. I think I left off about October 3rd. The great Sassy called me today to check on me. What a record conversation. BTW Sassy my ear still hurts from having a phone pressed against it for so long.
Off to find some hot chocolate and then bed, as soon as I unpile the clean clothes off it. DH is snoring on the couch already. I understand the moon is beeeutiful but I'm too chilly to go see.
Laters taters.
-
OMD - I forgot to say howdy back to Patty. Love, love seeing you back here and sounding like yourself (who else would you be?) and will come spank you if I find you're in the hospital.
-
Mema, wishing you good outcome and quick recovery on your cataract surgery tomorrow. Just make sure they don't send you home with this
-
With all the dog stories I have to throw in 2. One night I came home from work and let the dogs out of their crates into the back yard. I flipped on the porch light and lo and behold there was something black hanging out of the wire hair terriers rear end. I grabbed gloves thinking it was poop.,gently pulled and it sprang back when I let go. I was pulling very gently but doggie yelped so I wrapped her up in a towel and was off to the emergency vet. The vet tried to keep a straight face....but couldn't. It was my daughters black thong underwear she had left on her bedroom floor with all the other piles that should have been in the dirty clothes. Vet said she had lots of strange things swallowed but this was the funniest. Gave the dog a little gas and removed....then offered it to my daughter. Lol
My other funny dog tale is that my 6 lb. shi-poo barks at me whenever I am getting dressed so that I will hurry up and crate her with a tiny reward for hopping into her crate! She is really getting kind of bossy
