Yes Ma'am!!........lol. Being a good girl I am but it's oh sooooo hard!
-
Chris you must Listen to Lisa. You really should be keeping that leg up. You worry me greatly.
-
Hi there QCA....You and I have almost exactly the same diagnosis...but I'm curious as you don't have anything listed as to what kind of treatment you had....could you fill me in please? Just got my Oncotype DX score of 21 and I'm hoping that means no chemo!
-
Hi Oxfordlady and welcome!! The beginning part of this journey is a terrifying one but the women you meet on these threads are oh so helpful. Hopefully for you your Onco score is low enough to not need chemo but please don't be too disappointed if you do as it is a safety net for your future. It's not nice to think that you need it as it's not very nice but it's not impossible to get through and knowing you have done everything to prevent a recurrence is a good thing.
Aly the leg is healing in leaps and bounds. I have been going to my doc every second day so he can check on it and he's really happy with the way it's looking. Stitches are due to come out on Tuesday and I am back to driving as of yesterday so all is good.
Grandson has just left to attend his Year 12 Formal and he looked so grown up in his Royal Blue Suit! He has grown into a very handsome young man and I'm really admitting that I am very biased in that opinion........lol. These grands are beginning to make me feel old.
Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I'm getting in the mood for tomorrow's 4th of July celebrations. This little boy was giving a flag to the USS MIDWAY Museum.
-
Oxfordlady.Welcome. I know that the days when we are getting a treatment plan together can be the most stressful. I tried to get a PHD in breast cancer in 3 weeks. I about drove myself crazy. But one will fall in place for you. We are all so different. I don't think I had enough input on the long term effects of choices. BCO is a good place to come for so many things. Hugs to you from a 14 year survivor.

Right now I am so very sad. We have had 2 deaths in our family. My cousin died of bladder cancer - she was only 57 and will be missed so much. Another cousin's husband died of leukemia. They've been married for over 50 years and from the time they were married he never differentiated between "my family" and "your family" - it was always "our family". There are holes in my heart now.

Thanks ladies....Just came back from meeting and finally have a plan of action: NO CHEMO!!! I've joined a research study so will be having radiation to chest wall/lymph nodes and hormone treatment with Arimidex - the study goes out five years and I will have frequent check-ups which I am happy about. Schedule will include bone scan, meeting with onco-radiologist and planning the timing of this next step. I am immensely relieved that the Oncotype DX showed absolutely zero effect of chemo on my outcome statistics even with a 21.
Happy 4th of July those of you in the States...obviously over here in UK it's not exactly a holiday! We Americans abroad secretly celebrate!
-
Oh Leah, I am so terrible sadden by your losses, condolences. Cancer in any form is a terrible disease. May the holes in your heart mend with the memories of those you loved.
Oxfordlady that is really good news for you! Yay!!
Happy 4th July to all you American ladies either at home or abroad!!
Lisa that little boy has stolen my heart, such a cutie!!
Just watching some tennis before heading for bed........I will be so glad when this two weeks passes and I can get some regular sleep..........lol.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy
-
Oh Leah, how sad for you and so close together. Double whammy!
Chrissy are you sure that was a cat and not a Tasmanian Devil?
What a divergent group of birds around your son's house. How exciting to see some stars. I have never been to California. Really have to make it one of these days.
Oxford, welcome to our group. I agree with the others, the beginning is really hard. Trying to figure everything out, so ask as many questions as you need. Here and everywhere.
Well ladies, I had my hysteroscopy yesterday. So now I get to wait 2 weeks for the pathology report. It took longer for me to get into the operating room and then the procedure took a little longer than we thought it would. And no one told my kids out in the waiting room anything. So they were really grumpy by the time we got home around 3. They always want to "help" so much, but it really distresses me when they can not get along. The big fight was who was going to the grocery store. Sheesh! So I am on very light duty for 72 hours and light duty for 2 weeks. She said she didn't find anything too troubling but we have to wait for the path.
So I am not taking part in any patriotic celebrations this year.
I did buy myself a new electronic toy. Seems every time I have a medical procedure I reward myself. Ha ha. This time it is a surface 3. It is so light weight and not as hot as my laptop. I really don't mind having it on my lap in bed, which is where I am most comfortable. It's keeping my mind otherwise entertained.
-
Leah, What sad news! Big hugs for you and your family. They were both so young.
-
Sending hugs Leah. Understand how you feel. We have had three family funerals is three months. MiL was the last sad but expected.
Now I am showing off. Have one more section of shawl to do.
-
beautiful, Alyson! So much work.
My GYN called last night. She told me my biopsies came back B9. Yahoo. Cleared me to go back on Tamoxifen, going to have to think about that. But what a relief!
-
-
Leah, I'm so sorry for the losses you've suffered. Love and hugs.
Oxford, welcome to you. You asked about my treatment and it's much like yours, except I had a lumpectomy. Otherwise, I had 6 weeks radiation and did arimidex for almost 5 years (stopped 3 months early due to knee pain). I do think you'll like it here---this is a super group of women!
. We're getting ready to go on vacation Saturday for a week, beach time! This year we've increased to 10, 6 adults and 4 children, There have been 8 shark attacks at NC beaches so far, just in the past couple of weeks, with 3 of them at the beach we're going to. And in surprisingly shallow (knee deep or less) water. None of us have any enthusiasm about getting in the water except 6-year-old DGS, and he doesn't know about the attacks. I'm excited, nevertheless, and looking forward to it.
Kathy
-
oh Kathy, be careful at the beach. Have fun, but just be aware.
-
We will be, Nancy. Part of the problem, I think, is activity at piers, and every beach has a pier where people fish, throw bloody stuff in the water, and some even fish for shark. I honestly think our group will avoid the water period. Forty years ago I saw Jaws, and I can honestly say I haven't been in the ocean for 40 years.
I just saw that Wilsi had passed away in April. I'm so saddened to hear.
Kathy
-
Kathy, you are probably right about the pier activity bringing the sharks closer to shore. I live where Jaws was filmed. I watched that mechanical shark being towed around. Even knowing that, the film was scary. We have really bad rip currents too. But sometimes one just has to get into the water because it is so darn hot!
Oh I am sad about wilsi, too.
-
I'm so saddened by the news of Wilsi's death.........I wondered what had happened as we hadn't seen her for a long time. May she rest in peace and be remembered by many.
Yay Nancy! I'm super pleased that your report said B9!! It's always worrying when we have biopsies bt great when we get good news.
Kathy enjoy your trip to the beach but please do be careful as well as the rest of your group and especially your grands. Shark attacks are just so darn scary!! As you would know, we get them here as well and I so hate hearing that another being has lost their life to them.
Lisa I just love all the pics of the Wanderers on your milk weed! Great shooting by the way.
I had the stitched in my leg removed on Tuesday but unfortunately the ones in my hand are still there. Doc wasn't happy with the way the wound was healing so left the stitches until Friday. I'm keeping the other fingers crossed that they do indeed get removed them as they are really driving me mad........lol.
Take care all! Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Hope you get those stitches out Chrissy..I went by Balboa Park's lily pond and they planted some new flowers around..
-
I finally got my caterpillar, a monarch butterfly to be
-
wow, Lisa, how did you stay so still to take such a clear shot of that caterpillar? Beautiful flowers also.
It's such a beautiful time of year here. All the blue hydrangea are blooming.
Lol, I bet you thought I would have a picture.
-
We're back from vacation, all totally intact. The only sharks we saw were a few DH, DS, and SIL caught in front of the beach house, and threw back. We so love these family times, even this year with 2 two year olds! Plus a 6 year old, and a 3 month old! All of us boarded our dogs at the same kennel, picked them up on Sunday, and now have 2 dogs with kennel cough. They'd of course had the vaccine, but the vet said it's like the flu shot, depends on what strain is in vogue in a particular year. DS and DIL's dog got it first, then our dog, and DD and SIL's dog is so far okay. We took Bud to the vet today and spent as much there as the entire week of boarding cost. Nevertheless, it's good to be home!
Glad to see you're coming along, Chrissy, and hope the other stitches are out by now. Outstanding photos, Lisa.
Kathy
-
Good to see you back in one piece Kathy! So glad also that you had a wonderful time.
Yup, all the stitches are now out although the wounds still have some healing to do. I have also taken my last anti biotic for which my system thanks me......lol. Two courses of two different ones and three of another sent my gut into a tail spin so I'm still taking pro biotics to try and speed up recovery.
Take care all!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
I was just getting ready to take a rest and this little charmer was outside the window.
Bet you are happy to be off the antibiotics, Chrissy..they are a drain on our systems..stay careful though.
Kathy sounds like a good vacation..now back to reality..
Nancy I bet all those flowers around you are beautiful...enjoy

My arm is a problem. I had an appointment with my liver Doctor and he said that I had a 10 % chance of dying with the surgery the trauma orthopedic surgeon wants to do with putting a rod down my humerus
This is because the treatments I had for my breast cancer fried my liver so I have cirrhosis.
So my latest x-rays showed the fracture wasn't healing properly. It isn't bridging probably because the gap is to big.. So the bone doctor says he can wait to see if anything could happen in the next 2 months. I have to wear my brace, boo, all the time except showering. And use.my bone stimulator 3 hours a day.
I still can't wrap my mind about the choice I will probably have to make. I asked if we did nothing what would happen and he said I would have a floppy arm..no way Jose..
-
Oh shit Lisa!! Not good choices at all and certainty ones that can have dire consequences. This disease has a lot to answer for and leaves us with problems that ordinarily wouldn't touch us, never the less it seems that you have to make a choice. Either take that 10% chance or have a useless arm.
I have a rod in mine due to the mets and the pain from it in the beginning was excruciating but at least I have a good working arm and that to me is a blessing.
Hoping you are at peace with your final decision.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
at least I have 2 months to mull it over, Chrissy.
-
Lisa, every minute you have to mull it over is a bonus and with a little luck things will improve enough by the time the two months are up. I'm keeping everything crossed..
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Thanks Chrissy. It would take a lot of luck, but you never know ☺
