Last night I went to the Art Garfunkel concert. Best concert EVER. The tickets were our anniversary gift from our kids. Best kids ever, too!

I too love Art Garfunkel! He seems very popular with our generation and a lot of the younger ones as well. I have never been to a concert done by him but would dearly love to. Lucky you for being able to and wow! What great kids to think of getting the tickets for you!

How are you faring Leah? We haven't heard from you for a while so I really hope everything is going okay.

Getting tired but a couple of early nights just might fix that .......or not. I have been doing a lot of things that I usually get someone else to do at home but I need to get DD organised to make things easier when she is better able to get to things herself. Cleaning cupboards is not my favourite thing but getting rid of a whole lot of flotsam will go a long way to helping sort things out.

We went to a Simon & Garfunkel concert back in the 60's or early 70's. It was a sellout and they decided at the last minute to put seats in the orchestra pit. We were 4 rows back. It was awesome to see a duo that could produce all the sounds on their records with just 2 people and 2 instruments.

Chrissy, Your DD is so lucky. I wish someone would come and do my cupboards.

My DD and her boyfriend went to a Dave Matthews concert this weekend. He sent me a video of the band playing and then panned around to show my DD dancing. It was so cute! I said it was almost like being there. lol

Well, the nurse from the GYN office called on Friday and told me that the results from the urine test were consistent with a compromised sample. She said to finish up the antibiotics, but they couldn't do a new test cause it would be effected by the meds. So, the symptoms haven't really changed so I guess it was not an infection. Oh well.

Getting rid of the clutter really does help to keep things organized. I think it is easier too, if it is not your own stuff.

Here are the flowers that my DD and her BF brought me today. It was very sweet. She gave me a happy Parent's day card. Since for most of her life I was both mom and dad. I have a cousin who is just amazed that I can cook on a outdoor gas grill and I'm like someone's got to do it!

My days as a military wife made me a jack of all trades.too. Navy men were gone usually from 6 months to a year at a time. So we had to be both Mom and Dad so much of the 21 years my DH served. But you do what you have to do.

Family are all together tonight having a drink for my MiL who passed this afternoon aged 91. Many complain about their MiL but I certainly can't. She was an educated and independent woman who on her own brought up three children after being widowed young. She was always ready to help and was so proud of her grandchildren who loved her dearly and impressed them with her spirit of adventure. She was ready to go and had for days just wanted to be with Her Lord. We are sad but glad as well.

Oh Aly, my condolences at this sad time.

Nancy those roses are lovely! I've always been the jack of all trades in our house.....lol......even when the kids got their first cars it was always me that sorted them out if there was a running problem as DH didn't and still doesn't have a clue. He just says 'I drive them and that's it!'

Still with DD and the problems keep coming but I guess we will eventually all get through.

I admire you Lisa, having a military spouse can be really hard! But you are right we do what we have to do.

Going to PCP to have a talk about pain relief today. This pelvic pain is the pits.

My DD and her BF put my new pool tiles together yesterday, on the little deck around my small above ground pool. So after doc's visit I am planning a swim.

just got my bone stimulator yesterday. Have to wear it at least 3 hours a day.

It makes an electric field around the site of the fracture to stimulate the bone making cells.

Medicare and Tricare for life covers it. They say if it doesn't work then they refund your money.

It is a prescription. We shall see. It is called Orthofix.

Aly, I'm sorry about your loss.  Hugs to you and yours.

I had a loss myself last week, my dear friend of 40+ years, Madeline.  She and I worked in the same job until she retired in 1991.  She was certainly a surrogate grandmother to my children since my mother died before DD was a year old.  Madeline chose not to have a funeral, and that leaves me with a rather "incomplete" feeling. 

Lisa, I hope so much that this device will do the trick for you!  I hope to read about it soon since I'd never heard of it.

Nancy, the roses are gorgeous!  Beautiful color.  About everything we have here is suffering in these 100+ degree temps we've had for the past more than a week!

I'm still in A-Fib and today had a lexiscan nuclear stress test, which is sort of a medically induced stress test (no treadmill, drugs cause the blood vessels to dilate as if there's physical activity). I was at the hospital 4 hours, and there's a lot of down time.  The actual test  lasts 4 minutes, and during the first 2 minutes the sensation is that of exertion, which sort of subsides during the latter 2 minutes.  This is in preparation for A-Fib tx, which will involve stopping the heart and then restarting it, hoping to knock it out of the "flutter" and restore normal rhythm.  Not looking forward at all to this, but It will not be until late July.

Oh Kathy that just sucks big time! What a very uncomfortable feeling for you to have to endure. My BIL had that treatment for A-fib about eighteen months ago and says he's never felt better and hasn't had a problem since so here's hoping you get a good result as well.

I'm sitting at DD's with twelve stitches in my lower leg and four stitches in my middle finger on the right hand.......lol. I had the ambulance paramedics here yesterday to stitch me up after getting attacked by a cat. It made a right mess of my lower leg and today I'm a bit sore but I will heal. I think it's quite funny but I guess it will teach me to be a little more careful where I put my legs when there are strange cats around.

Kathy, that sounds like one heck of a test. I had one where I had to get myself a raised heart rate and all the nuclear stuff, but they didn't stop my heart. Wow.

Wow Nancy, it looks like it's all go from your house! What a bummer that they had to unload the dry wall on your DD's day off.......not very gentlemanly of them at all!

I saw my GP today to get all the wounds checked and he was very happy with the job that was done by the paramedic. I had the wounds redressed by the practice nurse and I have to go back on Monday to be done again. It is suggested that I leave the stitches in for ten days before having them removed and to keep an eye on the wound for signs of infection. They are not super worried about that though as i was given two different anti biotics by the paramedic and the doc reckons that they should keep any infection at bey.

it's always one step forward and one backward. The drywall was stacked up against the fireplace, so the stone mason can't get started. They put up the drywall in the basement so far. This is moving along so slowly!!! oh well.

That is a beautiful bird Lisa, I have never heard of or seen one of those. I get lots of woodpeckers around here.

Now I am taking tramadol for the pain. If I take them in 1/2 doses I can function but without much pain. Then I am "exhausted" by early afternoon. So I am moving very slowly, too.

Well, it's been awhile since i posted much. Do a lot of lurking but haven't found much to say.

Have finally gone for a 2nd opinion, tumor markers have been going up slowly, but steadily, for nearly 2 years. Oncologist kept saying he doesn't treat to tumor markers and several pet scans were normal. He asked in Jan. what I wanted to do about chemo or continuing treatment. Surprised me. If i were frail and weak I might consider stopping but I'm not and don't feel like giving up.

Pet scan in April finally showed activity in spine and rib area. Dr was very discouraging about chemo and my "quality of life". He did order a bone scan and another appt for July 21. I feel as though my age (will be 80 in Aug) and other health issues are factors he's considering, Also that we are stalling around.

Family and friends were horrified and we had several lively discussions about a 2nd opinion.

The Dr I saw is outside my insurance group so we're waiting for approval. She was very positive and said there are several options for me. She did recommend starting Fulvestrant injections.. Anyone experienced with it?

Anyway, it's been discouraging and depressing period in this on going battle.

Really Nancy?? It sometimes makes me wonder about where the brains are in some people. At least it's still moving slowly forward.

Hi Arlil. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get a better response from the second doc as your first seems like a 'don't want to deal with it' type. Regardless of age the decision to cease treatment is nobodies but ours but hoping you don't need to make that decision yet.

My leg is felling a little better each day but that first step out of bed makes me just want to curl up and stay there.......lol. Once I get moving its okay which is a good thing.

Last weekend we visited our middle son up on San Dimas CA...he is the family practice doctor and it seems he is always on call...any how we really had a nice visit...we watched the birds around his house

and at a park

went to a show in Hollywood and saw some stars..on the walk of Hollywood and Vine

ate some great food, and the others enjoyed a wine tasting

but mostly it was just fun sitting around and relaxing..

Lisa you sure do have a wonderful way of capturing the real essence of the bird life and nature in general.......I just love looking at your pics.

Your visit to your son sounds lovely! Those relaxing type visits are really the best sort and his garden must be lovely to have those birds come and visit.

I got the nurse to take some pics of my foot and leg yesterday when she redressed the wounds and I must say it looks like the cat had a really good time! If you want to see I'll share the pics but they are pretty yucky! Number three antibiotic was added to the others yesterday as the doc is most concerned about infection but personally I think it's all okay just really bruised so that explains the throbbing. I'll take the anti B's though, just to be sure.
