Hi Ducky! How lovely to hear from you.......I do hope you are doing okay. I'm still plodding along as we do.......lol. Hope you have had a great Christmas and had time to enjoy the whole family.
The thread you are looking for is ' Can we have a thread for 'older' people with cancer'. And the forum is Older than 60 years with cancer. I'm using my iPad as GS has my computer else I would put in the link for you but you should be able to find it easily enough.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I'm good..hope you are too?...I do see you on other threads, and on your own, but sometimes you get stuck with a couple and never leave..you were one of the first people I talked to after my dx.....
Not going to that thread...once I left I did not go back.....had mentioned that you started you own, but could not remember, which one we left.... I was actually talking about it with GrannyDukes...shocked that I forgot the name...my long term Is usually good..
Well here is hoping for a healthy New Year for us all......will not be a stranger....will come back soon.....hugs
-
Thanks Ducky I'm doing okay but there are a few more lumps in my neck and I'm short of breath so I'm figuring that the BC is on the move........I get to see my doc on the 7th and I'm guessing there will be scans etc to check but in general I'm doing just fine and I plan on being around a whole lot longer yet.
Yes, please don't be a stranger! Even if you just pop in to say hi........it is really lovely to see you.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy...your such a fighter, and a spirit raiser.....your outlook will keep you around or many years....really wish I could rub up against you, and maybe some would latch on to me.....
It's not the cancer, I walked through all that...it's the AI, and how it destroys your QOL.....I try being positive, but it is tough when getting out of a chair is a chore, but girlfriend, if you can do it.......I should be embarrassed to complain......
Hope your scans and your visit goes very well.....if anyone deserves good news it is you.....hugs, and a healthy 2014..........I laugh sometimes when we say healthy New Year, we rarely say happy........figured it out.......with BC...if your healthy while dealing with it......your gonna be happy....that's for sure....lol

Hi, Ducky. I'm still on the Older BC'ers discussion forum. I had dropped off for a year or so and then came back. We have a very congenial group with some newcomers who have been recently dx'ed. Feel free to drop in and say hi. Jo used to be one of the regulars but she moved on to a religious forum, I believe.
DH and I received our travel packets from Collette Vacations for the big trip to Australia and New Zealand. I'm getting excited. Except when I think about that 14 hr. plane trip. Kinda dreading that, but bought the compression travelsox. I've never been able to sleep on a plane or in a car. I don't ever nap during the day. But I'm hoping to get some sleep on the plane because we arrive in Brisbane and immediately take another plane to Cairn.
I'm up 5 1/2 lbs over the last few days. Can't even slip my wedding ring on my finger with all the carb bloating. And today my sister and I are taking her daughter and our mother out to lunch for my mother's 91st birthday, which is today. After today I'll go back on healthy eating. I know that about 3 lbs of the extra weight is fluid retention.
I've been on arimidex since Sept. 2009. A few months over 4 yrs. I've decided to stop taking it during our trip. Then I'll start again afterwards and continue until I finish up the 5th yr. next Sept. Then I plan to stop. It will be wonderful not to experience the hot flushes, which have been worse the last few days with the unhealthy eating.
Happy Friday!

Carole, I fly 12 hours non-stop to Tokyo to visit my son and his family. I finally broke down and bought a pair of noise canceling earphones. They are a God send. Bought them before I started losing my hearing and after being dx with hearing loss and told not to be around loud noises, I'm glad I have them as they cut down tremendously on the noise. It helps with the sleep because so much of the engine noise is blocked. I even have to take them off to hear DH talking to me and he is right next to me!
-
Chrissy, I certainly hope the cancer is NOT on the move again and that your dr visit on the 7th and scans if needed reveal nothing alarming. Hope you had a lovely Christmas with your family.
Carole, I've never had that long a flight, in fact, never been out of this country. I'm not sure I could sleep on a plane, but I certainly can sleep on long car rides! Kathindc had a great suggestion, too. 14 hours is a long long time! I'm starting my 4th year of arimidex and no longer have the hot flashes, but still have the joint issues.
Good to see you here Ducky!
We had a nice Christmas indeed. DIL's mother baked a ham, so I just did side dishes and desserts and it was easier than usual, which was good. DIL's mother said she was moving here after her retirement (she's 66 or 67), and my DS visibly paled at the thought! Really though, she has no family in NC or anywhere near except DIL and the grandchildren, so I'm not surprised.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Carole I did that flight plus another couple of long haul flights when I did my world trip in 2011. I didn't think I would sleep either but managed never the less. It wasn't solid sleep but it was enough that I arrived fresh and alert enough to enjoy the day of arrival to the fullest.
Kathy I'm pretty sure the BC is on the move as the node in my neck is the same one that was up when I was dx stage IV. Luckily it disappeared with treatment but has returned larger that it was before........I have also notice I get way short of breath for seemingly no reason so that surely needs to be looked at. There are a few other things going on that need to be checked so I'm under no allusion that it is moving. It just means a change of treatment and I carry on as per usual........lol.......no big deal, it is what it is.
Had a great Christmas with all the family and the last GS will be returned home tomorrow.....he is my youngest (15) and the son of my son who died when this fellow was just nine month old.........I love having him as he reminds me a lot of his dad, asperges and all......lol. He is happy to just chill and play word games with me and eat constantly.....a typical teenage growing boy........thank goodness he likes my cooking....hahahahaha!
I also baked my ham again this year and it seems to go down well.....the glaze is very simple, just orange juice, honey and a little soy but it imparts such fabulous flavor!
Kathy I'm sure your DS's MIL won't be that bad living near him and I'm sure she could possibly be a great help if she's close enough to babysit on occasion.
Looking forward to 2014........not long now........and hopefully it will bring a whole lot of good for everyone.
Love n hugs all. Chrissy

WOW.....all the best friends I had when I first came here have come to say hello........so wonderful to be greeted by all of you.........
QCA sounds like you had a nice holiday, and thanks for the welcome..
Carole...remember how much you loved your golf.......my grandson plays Varsity golf for his HS, and is quite good....he made the varsity as a freshman.....hope your still swinging...
Chrissy...it is so good to be back talking to all of you again.......hope everything goes well for you...
Glad you all had a nice holiday, and looking forward to 2014........all we ask for is our health and QOL...hugs

Kathy, my mother was so over-bearing that I moved across the state to get away from her as soon as I graduated from college. DH and I were most apprehensive when she followed a few years after Dad died (she was 68). We set s few ground rules like no surprise drop in visits and everything worked out surprisingly well.

It was great fun. We spent the night there in the Mission Inn. Our son and daughter in law met us for dinner. It is truly a magical place all the time but especially at Christmas when they have the festival of the lights.

Happy New Year to all. It's only 11am on New Year's Eve here.

2pm here......

What is Olle Bollun and apple flappen? That sounds like something I would like to make just so I could say I made Olle Bollun and apple flappen. When I lived in Texas, the tradition was to eat black eyed peas on New Year's for good luck. I think I will cook up a pot.
ChrissyB, you have the most wonderful attitude. I think I'm going to try to adopt a habit of asking myself how would ChrissyB handle this & just figure that's the best approach.
SocalLisa - Love how your pictures magically twinkle.
Happy New Year, all y'all

Chrissy is the inspiration that helped me through......she was always there encouraging me to keep going.......for that I will be ever grateful....

Here in south Louisiana the customary New Year's Day meal includes black-eyed peas and cabbage. DH cooked a pot of black-eyed peas today with ham. Tomorrow I'll cook a corned beef brisket with cabbage, carrots and potatoes. Also some brown rice to go with the peas..
Tonight we're going out to dinner with two other couples. The restaurant is less than 5 min. from our house. Then we'll come home and will be in bed before midnight.
A happy and healthy 2014 for all of us!
-
happy New Year Carole......enjoy your evening....
Your traditional N.Y's dinner sounds delish.....can I come....lol
