Lisa, if only we could. The value of human life has become less than an animal........all life should be treasured! Is it the governments fault? I'd what we teach in schools at fault? Is what is learned in the home at fault? Is it a combination? It is that we as humans tolerate too much which allows this sort of thing to happen?

I think this world is a very beautiful place but there is so much evil in it right now that heaven is turning into hell. I often ask the question of myself and the universe what is all this leading to when we can't look out for each other without looking with greed and envy at what each other has.

This sort of thing is pure evil.......to take the lives of innocence is appalling! My heart goes out to all of the families affected.

I think Mr Smith Goes to Washington should be required viewing in 8th grade and again in senior year. I love films, love them! However they do not teach ethics and tenacity and _______ fill in the blank that the films with altruistic heroes did.  My parents didn't teach me these things but I sought out books about heroes, saints (and I wasn't a catholic) movies in the genre I mentioned and also adults who were in leadership roles in childrens groups. I used to go to all of the youth groups at various churches because I wanted so much to have that leadership and sense of belonging. I was  one of those kids that you have a youth group for, to draw in, to model healthy aduult behavior.   Scouts was also a good place to learn about virtuous leadership. I had some special elementary teachers as well as neighbors who set a place for that skinny kid.  Those are the things that are becoming more and more rare today.   As we accept that both parents will be gone in the work place, we also accept that our youth will be deficient in certain developmental areas. Their parents won't even realize  or feel that they must ignore  to pay for our expensive lifestyles.

 Anything else you want a little rant on today?  Hah this sounds like I am very conservative and actually I am so liberal.  These are my thoughts, not considered for the first time today.

Why is it that the younger adults require what it has taken their parents a  lifetime to achieve by the time they are twenty five?  It just seems that they want the big house that is fully furnished with the latest and greatest of products that are available on the market and the biggest and badest car....or two......in the drive way and then stress themselves out and ignore their offspring in order to pay for it all.  It just seem like happiness can no longer be achieved without all of this.........I find that very sad.  The biggest loosers in all of this is the children that will not live to be the next generation.

I just find it sad.

I agree Chrissy. When I watch the shows on TV about house hunting, it makes me uncomfortable to see a young couple insisting that they need a bathroom each or at least two sinks in their required en suite bathroom. Most of them insist that they couldn't possibly share a bathroom with their children and that is all taken as sensible. I'll bet my family isn't alone in having five or six of us share one main bathroom and escape unscathed.

When I was a child we had five children in our family and I don't remember having any fights over the one small bathroom.  We all left at the same time in the morning to get on the school bus.

My aunt would serve my uncle breakfast in bed to keep him occupied while his 3 daughters did all the makeup, hair curling stuff in the one bathroom.

television has (IMO) caused young people to think that they are not "normal" if they don't have everything they see young people on TV have and do - and that includes parents.  How many of us acted like the Bing Cosby family on TV?  I know I didn't.

I have a much better idea now that the children have grown up and moved on what I could have done differently. Too bad we only get one chance to do the best we can with parenting. Fortunately my children seem to have done all right anyway.

Hello everyone,

When I was first married, we bought a prefab ranch house, it is built into a hill so the basement (1st floor) has a door to the outside and regular windows. It is almost completely filled with my shop except for the washer/dryer area. The 1st (2nd) floor was 3 small bedrooms, 1 bathroom and an open living dining kitchen area. As the kids got older and bigger the house felt smaller and smaller. After realizing that I was not going to move the shop back downtown, I had a 2nd (3rd) floor added with 2 bedrooms another bath and another living area. It was great while the kids were still here, they could entertain downstairs and I could be upstairs or vise versa. I thought nothing of running up and down the 3 flights of stairs. Now I am so achy and stiff I am wondering "what was I thinking?".

My BCBS case manager called me today and asked me to get in contact with my MO. So I emailed her to tell her how bad the pain has gotten. I see my PCP tomorrow. 

Today I woke to the sound of hammers. The carpenters are back to finish putting the siding back on the house after replacing the windows in Feb. (just on the 1st (2nd) floor. The dog was so happy to see them. Last I looked out the window she was running around with a peice of yellow siding in her mouth. I bet the guys just love her, too. 

The one thing about having a small house was being able to know what the kids were up to at all times. I think the main job as a parent that I did right was to be present and aware of what my kids were doing and being able to talk to them. We've had our issues but we are still very close. Of course after their father died we were all we had. Just last night my DD called from a grocery store in CO to ask where she could find the epsom salts. LOL I told her to look on the bottom shelf in the health and beauty aisle, and thats where it was. See I am still needed. 

beachwalker had her 3rd surgery yesterday. She will be home tonight. It got kind of compilcated b/c of the bombing in Boston. we both go to MA Gen. (Sad, sad state of affairs)

Those roses are inspirational to me at the moment as I'm trying to teach myself silk ribbon embroidery and silk ribbon roses. They look so perfect that I may just have to use them as a template!



Nancy, glad to hear that the siding is finally being replaced........it's been ages! I had a phone call from DD2 this morning informing me she has another bulging disc.......sigh.......I guess she is heading for more surgery but doesn't get to see the professor until next Tuesday. Poor kid is in a lot of pain......again.



I'm heading off to the city, it was supposed to be my appointment with my GP but he has called in sick so now it will be next Tuesday.......today will be just picking up the grandsons so they can make a long weekend staying with Oma.......lol.



Long way to go so ill catch you ladies later.

Chrissy remember not to pull the ribbon too tight. Also if you need to iron the piece put it face down on a fluffy towel.   Try to find some Beverly sheldrake videos, australian embroidery is the finest.

Phew! Finally home with boys in tow.....lol. What a day! I ended up having enough time to go sofa shopping while I was down there and found two that I like at a price that I like......now I just have to make up my mind which one I really prefer and then organise DH to get it as to get it delivered to where I live will cost me over $200 and I'm not prepared to pay that on top of the cost of the sofa.



Ginger I have been watching loads of videos on utube Re ribbon embroidery. There is a book I've seen on line that is actually available from a store called Country Bumpkin and its situated in the city so when I take the boys home I just might pay that store a visit......lol. The book contains detailed instructions for all sorts of different flowers so I think it may just become like my bible, well fingered and well read. I know what her bouquet will look like so I think I may just try to recreate it on black silk as the background and make it into a cushion for her bed. Should it turn out like the picture I see in my mind I'll definitely post a pic and do some bragging........hahahaha!

We are finally getting some flowers here, and some sunny and warmer weather. The guys finished up the siding on my house. It looks so good. 

My MO called me back this week. We have decided I can take a break from the AI for a month. I hope the aches and pains will go away. I got real tired of "toughing it out". It is funny, tho, I felt like I was letting her down. I am not being the good girl. She made it very clear that I will have to be on some med, so I'll call her in a month.

I've forgotten what drug you were on, Nancy, but hopefully with a month off you can find something more agreeable to you.  I'm still on generic arimidex--have some mobility issues with it but at least it's tolerable. 

We too are having a beautiful spring, although it's cold now and the heat's on.  Temps in the 30's at night don't say spring to me!  But the azaleas everywhere are gorgeous.  They almost make up for the invasion of canker worms we have, but not quite!  These nasty things like oak trees, and hang down by threads and they're everywhere.  Our house is surrounded by oaks.  Last year was the first year we'd had them and now they're back.  They're a major problem in Charlotte and that city bands the trees with a sticky band to trap the moths before they can lay eggs, but they don't do that where we are.

Qca, I was on arimidex, too. The joint pain had gotten so much worse in the last few weeks, I had trouble getting sleep. I had been given pills from a different company than usual, but the pharmacist said that wouldn't matter.  I went out to lunch with my 98 yr old aunt the other day and she got up from the table and headed for the door when we were leaving and I am trying to get up and grunting and so so stiff. It was really affecting my neck and hands, my fingers are going numb. We'll see if it works. We have had those worms in years past. They tend to run in cycles, and we seem to be in an off period. I hate them as well as the tent caterpillars. ick!!!

Lisa, those look like oak trees, did you take it on your trip last year? Here in the North East? definitely not in my back yard.
