Elisimo-Stanfield is about halfway between Charlotte and Albemarle out in the boonies, but we love it. Have been in this area for about 26 years, although I pretty much grew up in Charlotte. Sure wish I'd have come to this thread earlier, as we we're just in Raleigh for the state fair two weeks ago. But we do come up occasionally because thats my sons dream to transfer to State for his last 2 years of school. So maybe next time...

Hope any of you in the path of the storm are battening down the hatches and keeping safe. Storm looks incredible.
Had DGD's fourth birthday on Saturday which was lovely.
This was last night with birthday doll tucked in with her.
Pictures won't go as I want them but nevermind.
Must get on and do some work around this house.
Big hugs
-
Happy Birthday to the little cutie-pie!
The good news here is that my sister has a new grandson - my nephew's wife had a boy on Friday.

CONGRATS Elisimo!
Sounds so good ! -
Beautiful, Alyson! She's sure a little cutie. Love the one of her sleeping with her doll.
And congrats to you sister and your nephew, Leah! I just love new babies! I'm beginning to get excited about our new DGS, due Jan. 1. That's not long at all now, is it?
I surely hope everyone in the path of this horrendous storm will stay safe. We're predicted to have high winds tomorrow and possibly some rain but I do think we got extremely lucky this time in inland NC. Just heard the mountains may get up to 2 feet of snow due to the storm!

Alyson. lovely pictures of Bea...how time flies, and how she has a look of you!
Leah...congratulations on the new baby in your family.
Well, it had to happen. DGD has announced she is 8 weeks pregnant. That will make me a GREAT Gmother I cannot believe this !! DGD has asked if I will be at the hospital with her for the birth! Of course I am very pleased she has asked me, but I just feel so damned OLD now...How is it possible that I am going to be a GGmother !!!!I WAS trying to grow old gracefully, but this has slammed me right into old age !!!!! Shall I have to give up the skinny jeans now ?? I'd just bought a pair of orange neon sox to go with my shocking pink All Stars. Shall I have to look for some comfy old lady fluffy booties now !!! Is this the end of life, as I know it !!!!!!!Nope...they'll have to take me as I am ...I do not like change (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it)
Just been doing battle with my litter of puppies who do not want to eat! most have now decided to start and make the effort. All their coats are stiff from rolling around in the cereal bowl, they look a perfect mess ! I will be bathing them all tomorrow. I can't let anyone see them in this state.
Had a very lazy day today, just re-arranging all my bedroom cupboards and drawers, and throwing out so much junk. My new wardrobe last week set me off sorting all my clothes and bags out, I have just about got some semblance of order up there now. I timed myself climbing my 12 stairs today...the quickest I can make it in is 44 seconds, on hands and knees ! so I avoid clambering up and down as much as I can. I would think normally, when my back wasn't bad I would have been up in about 5-6 seconds!

Isabella, Congrats on the GGD or GGS. Just tell people the women in your family marry young. My grandmother was 38 when I was born and 57 when my daughter was born. When I was young, I had 2 grandmothers, 2 great grandmothers, and a great-great grandmother.
I love the idea of the pink shoes and orange socks. I haven't gotten up the courage to try on skinny jeans.
-
I must admit, I bought a pair of skinny jeans about a month ago!!! I LOVE them!!! I look SO skinny in them! They are from London and brag about their rise fitting perfectly and it does!! They don't sit high like "mommy jeans" and not so low that they feel like they're falling off. AND no muffin tops!! I got them because I got a cute pair of cheap boots in WalMart with fake fur and suede with beading. I needed jeans that could tuck in without being bulky so I got them. So, cheap boots $35...skinny jeans $86!!!! But what a great look! I've been wearing the boots around the house to break them in, they are just SO cute!

Way to go Barbe! Have fun.
-
great pix Aly - she looks the image of you. It was good to hear of your visit with Chrissy.
3jays I was glad to see you post. Have been concerned. Hope you are settled & safe.
Leah, you too - are you on the mend? New babies in the family are a restorative.
Don't skinny jeans annoy your whoo-ya? Anything tight in my crotch is uncomfortable. I've been really wondering about tights or skinny jeans but...
Maybe I should just get neon-lime sox to go with my purple tennies. But I need new boots too...
Isabella, great-grands are real fun. You are NOT old. I just tell people we're a precocious family. I was 61 at first (only, yay!) great-grand. Dear GD kissed the wrong frog, but she has recovered her life really well since then, frog not included.
Hope all are safe from the big storm. And all the ships at sea. Just read that sailors had to abandon the HMS Bounty (used in the Marlon Brando film and in the Pirates of the Caribbean films) off the coast of NC, two crew still missing.
Had been checking, and 'our' tall ship is safely docked in FL waiting out the storm then it will sail to Nassau. Our vacay is in one month and I am getting excited and a bit nervous. Been getting immunization-updates, ordered a new suitcase & one new swim top. Clothes, Bug repellent, sunscreen, 1st aid kit, books to read, snorkel & mask...all are piled into the sewing room waiting the (several) 'final' packings - it takes me awhile. Meanwhile we are busy with "get ready for winter" chores - put the garden to bed, clean the gutters, rake & blow leaves over and over again, cover what needs to be covered, move what needs to be moved, etcetc. By evening I am exhausted. But Arimidex takes care of that - I wake in a sweat about 5 or 6 times a night.
Up until now, my Arimidex has been considered a generic-generic by insurance, cost $7/mo; but Femara was considered a preferred-generic by insurance & would have cost $45/mo. New rules for 2013 reverse the two, so I'll be going onto Femara in January. My oncologist was just shocked - "why? they're both generic!".... my response "because they can.".... So I hope Femara is no more difficult than Arimidex to deal with...
Stay safe all, has anyone heard from Mac? She lives on an island - is it Massachusetts?
-
Come to think on it I haven't seen Mac post for a while. I'll need to fire up the computer and do a check and see when she was last on. I sure hope she's not going to whooped by that storm!
I bought a pair if skinny jeans this past winter to wear with my knee high ugh boots. To my surprise they fitted great and looked good when I wore a bulky knit jumper (pullover) as well as with a fitted jacket. Mind you loosing that stone helped with how they looked........note to self, loose more weight........lol.
Isabella I can't wait to be a GG! I hope I'm still around when my grands decide to multiply.......lol.......it may take years as they are boys with a good education on what not to do.....lol.
Leah congrats on the grand nephew! All babies are welcome little parcels of love. While shopping before returning from the city today I saw two teeny tiny newborns.........they were so tiny one little girl was almost lost in her daddy's arms........lol......but oh so cute!
Aly little Bea looks like she had a wonderful day! Can you PM me that address so I can send your charger?......please?.....lol.
Stay safe girls!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
LC, the skinny jeans I got do NOT grab my crotch! I hate that and will try on a dozen pairs before I find a pair that doesn't do that. It's so true that you have to try on a lot of different brands to get the one that's right for you. Mine are a size 14 but I still get a little gaping in the back, but they fit my crotch so well that I will tolerate the gaping rather than trying to cram my woo hoo into a smaller size!!
Aly, meant to say how ADORABLE is your grand daughter!!!!!! Must just make your heart swell...!!
-
I tried on one pair. It was obvious that my thighs did not match the rest of me. I'll try on a few more before giving up because I have knee high fuzzy boots that need them.
-
Hey everyone, thanks for the concern. I am riding out the storm. We have no power but I can use cell phone, iPad and battery powered nebulizer. My DS came home for the weekend and helped prepare the house, shutters on, outdoor stuff put in shed or tied down, batteries secured. He caught the last boat out Sunday night and hopefully boats will start running again tomorrow at some point.
I have been going thru another med change and have not been feeling well. So I haven't been posting here much. I still read and keep up with all your adventures. -
Yay Mac!! Glad to hear you are okay and riding out the storm. Stay safe!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Good luck to you mac...on all fronts !
