Happy Halloween to you SoCal. Nice

Marybe the mormons are on the internet as well and their records can be acquired on a DVD anywhere in the world. All Isabella would have to do is do a search on google for LDS Church and request the DVD with records for anywhere in the world they have. Cost about 10 dollars. I got one for some of my family searches.

Isabella- I sure hope you find something that connects you. If I had a sister out there I would want to know who and where she was. Yes it is disappointing to find out someone we love and admire turns out to have the types of weaknesses that leave us wondering about how we thought the world really was.  Makes me wonder if she was adopted if she's not looking for your Dad and you?

yesterday we walked through Balboa Park, here in San Diego..it has to be one of my favorite

spots..oh, and the bells in the tower  were playing various songs and then the organ at the pavilion was

    drifting beautiful tunes...

we saw an exhibit of Sorolla at the museum and had lunch at the Prado with an out of town friend...priceless.....

I fell asleep in the middle of a tv show and think I am going to have to watch it on demand so I can make sense out of it....anyone watch Revenge?.....it has a lot of complicated undercover stuff going on in it....usually there is one person with a dark side, maybe two, but with this show I think they are all up to no good.   The main reason I woke up was that the dog was on top of my foot and it had gone numb.  Speaking of which, my feet are a mess.....a few weeks ago I lost the nail on my little toe and it looks like some of the others are on the way out......Had already made my mind up that any thoughts of a career modeling sandals were gone, but I am really starting to worry about these feet of mine.   I was putting some bag balm on them ( still use it even if I am off Xeloda) and they look like they should belong to someone who is about 90 yrs old....wrinkles and creases and then the nails/ half-nails...just a mess.   I keep forgetting to mention my feet when I see the doctor, but am sure there isn't a thing he could do about them anyway.

No word from the onco at MDA since Monday when I told him my records, hopefully with what he wanted to see, should be coming soon.  All I know is I feel really good, no aches or pains and no more issues with feeling tired, just feel good.....other than occasional attacks of feeling nausea from eating left over Halloween candy ( lollies as I now know they are called since Alyson told me)...I took the rest of it with me to the onco's today when I went for my Xgeva shot....they put it out in a bowl in the treatment room.  They did my cvc (think that is what it's called) and the liver function panel and I asked them to do my tumor markers just because I want to see how much they have gone up.   I am betting they are at least 4,500 by now.  One of the nurses commented today on how my hair is getting thick again....it really is growing like a weed, and for sure I don't want to be doing anything that is going to cause it to fall out again before Jan. because I am having two Xmas parties this year.....one here and one at my Dad's.

Sat. night I am going to a Twilight til New Dawn party.....one of the women I work with is a Twilight nut.....she has all the movies and the soundtracks and said she may have one of the movies showing on the side of the house as she borrowed a projector.  She is having a big bonfire and serving mushroom ravoli  (guess Bella ate that on her lst date with Edward) and is doing a fish fry like Harry had and I forget what else, some sort of red drink.   I read the books, but certainly don't remember what the characters ate, other than the fact they would go hunting when they needed a blood fix.   The assistant and I at the other office, made some fangs for me and they look quite good.   This is not a costume party and I am just going to wear normal clothes,(warm since we will be outside) but I am going to wear really pale foundation and red lipstick ( yike...shades of Mama) and then when I smile they will see that instead of normal cuspids, I have fangs.  I didn't tell the one having the party or anyone else so I am really looking forward to what the reaction will be.   This is an all women party except for the host's husband who told her he had nowhere to go so she told him he has to make sure the fire is going and that the food trays are full if he's going to be there.  I don't think Twilight is exactly a guy's sort of book.....I read all four, and they were OK, but I am not obsessed with them and have not seen any of the movies.  I need to come up with a dessert that goes with the menu.....I am thinking maybe little cheesecakes with something red spilling out of them.

Tomorrow I am off since the boss is going out of town so I am making lasagna to take to my friend Cyndi.  She really seems to be doing much better now that she is home and I no longer have such a bad opinion of hospice.....in her case they are just coming to the house and making sure she is getting her meds, can get the the bathroom on her own, helping her shower and thing like that.....guess there must be different levels of it because I always thought that was the last step and no meds except for pain.

I know you are enjoying your cruise Barb.... you deseve it.

Sleep tight, 3jays.   I am making my lasagna to take to Cyndi....Tim asked if there was going to be any extra and I said maybe if you go buy the ricotta for me.   You know there is a good possibility I slept through the part with the Aunt.   I will have to find that channel that gives replays.

I just got a great recipe for my desssert to take to the party from the recipe thread.....Death by Chocolate and it has this red raspberry sauce to go with it.....Perfect!

Lasagna turned out great....at least it smells great....it won't be eaten til tomorrow....am taking one to Cyndi and have another one for here.  I posted a picture of the one I made in the springform pan on the recipe thread, but will put one on here. Tomorrow I will make the dessert, but it's for that Twilight party I am going to.

I have already posted this on the chemo thread and the Xeloda one I was on and again on my CA 27.29 thread, but in case you don't read those, I will post it again here.

My tumor markers are 6,444.3!!!    Not something I am at all happy about, but what can I say.....it is what it is.  My thought is that I was so fortunate for so long in that my cancer was very slow growing and now it is just going nuts and making up for lost time.   But I still don't feel bad at all and they say my liver function is perfectly normal, but somewhere something is going on and I don't even want to think about it.   The onco at MDA told me he will be reviewing my records this weekend since they only arrived today.

I keep thinking this is Friday since I was off today....well, I guess it is Friday now.  I fell asleep and woke up to Jimmy Kimmel.....wow, that is a huge theater he is in.  Maybe it's time to start working on my bucket list again.....I have been trying to get in to see David Letterman since I don't know when....remember my Mom and I stood in the standby line....so maybe a trip to NY is in order in the near future.  Sounds more feasible than Brugges.

Good night ladies....sorry I don't have any good news to share....I was expecting the numbers to go up, but not THAT much!!

Marybe is that lasagna holding it's shape without sides????? Mine would be dribbling over the side with noodles all over. Did you get the ricotta in it??

And what do I say for your rising tumour markers?? All I can say is you are in my prayers, sister. Hugs to you.

Yep, lasagna is holding.....once they cut it that might be a different story, but I remember when I had it at a dinner party before and all I did was cut out pie shaped slices and it didn't really fall apart........What's lasagna without ricotta...I also added some cream cheese since I saw that in a magazine once...and mozzarella, Parmesan and provolone mixed all together with eggs and seasonings.  I know some people use cottage cheese, but I like the ricotta.  A lot of juice came out when I took the outer form off, but it's holding its shape.

Tumor markers?.....nothing much can be done about it on my end.....will just have to wait and see what the doctors say.  The way I am thinking is that I had so many years where my cancer was in remission and it was always slow growing......now something has changed, no treatments have worked for over two years and it is rapidly growing.   Is this the end?....don't think so, but that is something we never know.   I just can't imagine the cancer has gotten the best of me yet as I honestly do not feel bad.  And I just don't have time to sit and worry about it right now.....too many things going on this weekend as usual.  Just got back from the store because I needed whipping cream for this dessert I am making....went in my PJ top....I am getting really bold in my old age.

Marybe I am sorry to hear about your increased numbers. I will pray for best treatment for you.

I love the lasagna on the cake plate it looks spectacular. This year you can have lasagna parties rather than fondue, eh? . I think  my lasagna might stand if I left it overnight in the form, Day two lasagna is always best.  oh, I am craving lasagna now, mmms.

Marybe...I am thinking of you, and wondering what the h*ll is going on with your markers. Can ANYONE come up with something to explain this mad surge. You are one VERY tough cookie. I would be sat with my head down the toilet, not cooking lasagne !!

Started today off in such good form, got up at a reasonable hour, and decided I would clean some windows  ha ha ha. Got my steps out, my cleaning tackle assembled, a bucket of nice soapy water...and ..I managed just one window. It was just too much reaching for my back to take. So now I am left with one nice clean sparkly window, and 9 more to go, looking pretty disgusting !!! Oh well, if the weather breaks I can blame that ! Trouble is, if the weather does break it'll be next year now before I get back to window cleaning.

I spent all yesterday afternoon in bed, listening to the radio, felt good for nothing, so retreated for 3 hours ! Of course, even tho' the door and gates were locked, someone had to climb over the gate and bang on my door, setting off the alarm (which I had forgotten about) I didn't answer. Then at 2.30am, I heard an engine noise, looked out of my window, and saw a truck driving down my lane, onto my neighbours lane and to his farm. I don't think that man will ever do as he is told ! I had forgotten to lock my lane gates last night.

Lyn, It just looks like a cake....it's lasagna. That was the one I took to my friend, Cyndi and I made a second pan of it so my husband( who so pitifully asked if there was going to be any left here) could have some and also took a serving to my boss and the lady I had lunch with.  Unfortunately, Cyndi is not up to eating anything again and having a terrible time with nausea.  Also her arm is as big as my thigh.....I asked her husband about that and guess hospice will give pain meds and they are also trying things for the nausea, but they don't care about her lymphedema.  Her husband says she has about 4 bad days and then three good.  I wish I could do something to make her feel better...this was the first time she didn't have a smile for me.

Isabella, I thought that guy was in jail...if not he will be soon it sounds like...I am sure that truck was up to no good arriving at that hour.  At least you have one clean window.  I can't recall the last time I washed a window.....maybe that is why it's so dark in here, think?

No, Ginger....it will be back to fondue parties soon.  That is my signature dish.

No, Barbe, you serve it hot.(but I have been known to eat cold lasagna.....I like things cold as well as hot....used to love leftover mashed potatoes from my grandma's fridge)    Don't ask me why, but it stays that way.  I always cook it twice.....well, not always, sometimes just heat it up in the microwave......but normally cook it one day, then again the next day for not as long, but so it's heated through.  For some reason it's always better the second day.   Anyway, when you do it in a springform like this, you just let it stand maybe 5 mins, pop the sides off, do the tah dah presentation, and everyone will ooh and ahh and then you slice it up like a pie and serve it.  The one I took to my friend, I left the bottom of the spring form under it (told the husband to be sure not to throw it away because I have lost a lot of springform bottoms that way), and wrapped foil around the sides so they could heat it up that way in the oven if they wanted to.    You are going to try it....I feel it in my bones that you are going to.....and it will come out Grrrrreat!     I don't know if I posted it on here or the recipe thread, but it was actually a vegetarian lasagna and I saw it on the cover of a magazine years ago and thought Wow, that is so pretty, I am going to make that.   But one layer was carrots and something ( nice color) another zucchini and I forget what all.....I was doing this for one of my offices and knew the boss liked meat lasagna so I altered the recipe ( and I thought it would be better anyway....I like carrots, but don't think it would be the same if ya know what I mean) and did a layer of the zucchini sauteed with onion, celery, garlic and mushrooms and then did two layers of regular sausage/gr.beef in the tomato sauce and it was a big hit.

Last night I made Death by Chocolate for the Twilight Party I am going to tonight.....really had my doubts about that, but this morning it is all set up and looks like a big cake of fudge.....I have to make my sauce this morning. I of course totally altered the recipe someone gave me on the recipe thread.....was afraid I would not be able to successfully get it out of the loaf pan. So used a good old springform and think this one will be fine. Had a little mishap in getting it out of the oven.....you had to bake it in a pan with water.....the pan tipped and I dumped this really hot, not scalding TG, water, down my legs.....had on my support hose which go to the knee so really only got my knees good since I was cooking in my underpants and a long sweater ( great visual, huh).  You only baked it for 15 mins total which was fortunate or the water could have been boiling.   So I am going oh shit, now I am going to have to go to a burn unit and will probably get an infection when the blisters pop and just went on and on in my head, BUT I looked up burns on google and it said for burns caused by hot liquids, it run cold water on them for 10 mins (not to use ice ) and that is what I did and today my knees are only a little bit pink so I am glad I avoided that problem.  This was all going on when I was trying to also watch the tv in the bedroom so I was rushing around, missed my show, made a mess on the kitchen floor, but today my dessert is looking good and I am not burned so all is well with the world.   I will post a picture when I take it out of the pan.....also of me with the fangs I made to wear at the party.
