Seaside, thanks so much for your kind words!  Jen, I totally agree about calories burned.  And look, Eric has done a little cookie math for us!  :)  I am a runner -- well, I was, now I am completely lazy.  And my running magazine talked about this kind of thing all the time.  Runners cannot really eat a lot!  Runners actually  have to watch calories -- even sport drinks -- for this very reason.  Even that intense exercise simply does not burn that much off!

Special K, laughing so much.  That's exactly what people think.  It was definitely my fault!  There was this group of multiples moms in the park once, though, and they saw me and took pity on my and let me in to their group!  When I went, I found the focus of the group was drinking wine.  :)

bobo - I have a bunch of friends with twins - wine was always very important to them, lol!  Probably how they ended up with twins!

Drinking and parking can lead to accidents. :-)

My golf threesome came in first in the women's golf event at our club today.  We each won $6 of pro shop credits!  Three or more wins should get us a glove!  Afterwards I had lunch and ordered a turkey burger which was very good.  It had blue cheese on the pattie along with lettuce and tomato, and the bread was a nice ciabatta bun.  I ate half of it and a small dish of melon and fruit.  My weight is up after a trip to GA for my niece's college graduation.

Tonight's dinner will be chicken marsala with a tossed salad and a veggie, probably cauliflower.

This afternoon I'm off to my hair stylist for the full works, trim and color.  I'm toying with the idea of going gray.

Trying to plan dinner, no motivation. Have ground beef, ground chicken, chicken breast, nothing looks appealing - checking Pinterest to spark ideas, nothing. Anyone else ever get this way? Wrote down some interesting recipes yesterday and shopped for ingredients and now I can't find the paper... Lol!

I know it's prompted by anniversary tomorrow, really dreading it. DH (and not Dear/Darling Husband, but D**k Head, sorry Eric, don't read anything into it, it's just him) and I have kind of gotten to the spot where we're just living under the same roof, took me to medical appts, but nothing more, hasn't expressed any concern for me since DX in Sept, did nothing to assist me since mx on Halloween... Just wishing life was different so I could be single, responsible for DD and myself, being happy and appreciated.... Now he wants go out for anniversary dinner tomorrow? WTH? Celebrate what? Anyway, I'm probably on the wrong thread......

Oh 2nd, you're in the right place. Who ya gonna talk to if not us :-) I've never been as miserable as I was in the 10 year relationship before DH. Thankfully we never married so the disentanglement was a little less complicated. As one of my favorite quotes goes "it takes a mighty good husband to be better than none." I have to say, I have a mighty good one now.

In the warmer months I very often find nothing in my house appealing. Some nights I just want fresh vegetables from the garden. I wish someone would just deliver some food to my door and say "here I fixed this for you." It wouldn't matter what it was.

But tonight I fixed oven baked chimichangas. The roast braised with poblanos, onions, garlic, cumin, cilantro and some homemade taco seasoning was wonderful, but the flour tortilla got very hard in the oven. I need to remember not to bake them so long. Or at all.

Nancy... You always amaze me with your culinary acumen! Even more, thanks for the kind words, others would think I'm crazy (well, maybe that's true too). I got so upset earlier, I just fell asleep, that took care of dinner (DH came home to no dinner, which I often did when I was working before DX and he was home all day doing nothing (should have looking for a job). For dinner, cereal sounded appealing as I don't usually eat it for breakfast.

Last night, our chef rebelled and insisted on dinner out. It was Wednesday which can only mean SUPER Fish Wednesday! We went to the Courthouse and split one dinner. Love this family-run spot. Counter service, get your own drinks, and for four pieces of fish with fries, $6.95. Not sure I can go on strike two days in a row, so the "what is for dinner" question has already started in my head.

Oh Susan, I envy you, fish was really what I wanted last night. The only thing not in my freezer. I'm missing the fresh fish of the gulf shore about now.

Luvmygoats and all you other north Texans out there, hope you escaped harm from last nights devastating storms. Grapefruit sized hail, Yike!

After hearing about Susan's fish fiesta, we're having fish and chips tonight along with salted cucumbers and onions in seasoned rice wine vinegar. No fresh fish in my little town, so flash frozen will have to do. Now where's my malt vinegar?

Thanks Nancy for thinking of us. The hail pics on the news were impressive. We actually had no hail and very little rain and really not much lightening. I never unplugged modem or computer or shut off AC, all things I do in intense lightening. But I did have my storm shelter bag all packed, house locked up and ready to go. Storms went north and south. Granbury where 6 people were killed - EF4 tornado - is 40 miles south. Cleburne where 600 houses damaged was where I graduated high school, but know few left there. DH was lucky to get dinner at all. We had canned crescent rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon. Tonight is deli chicken and roasted vegies, lots of diff. kinds. Tomorrow who knows???

English muffins rings coming next week from Amazon.

Nancy - my local grocer does have a fish counter but it is usually frozen, thawed. Do just as well to buy it in the frozen state. I buy salmon that way. Wish I could afford mahi-mahi.

    Nancy, et al,

You would love the Courthouse Seafood spot. They own a fish market next door, so the fish you are eating in their restaurant came off the boat THAT morning.

Tonight I cooked some of the merguez sausage that I made a few weeks back. Sides were a spicy chickpea with spices dish and a simple bulgar. Both of these recipes are from Roden's The New Book of Middle Eastern Food. Like travelling to Morocco for dinner without the jetlag.

Enough leftover for lunch tomorrow, which makes me very happy.

DH is in rehab but not doing well, amonia levels are up and down, they give him lactose which gives him diarrihea to flush out the levels of amonia, he is very weak and I just can't take care of him at home.  He is not able to come home unless it is very near his time and I can take a short term leave from work.  One day at a time the nurses keep saying to me.  I am in the process of getting him on Medicaid/Mass Health.  I'm pretty sure he will qualify. I just have to gather the list of things they require.

Rebekah is still here till the end of the month, then she has to go back for a wedding and they are going on a short vacation.  I will miss her while she is gone but she will be back.  We are still packing up his collectable shop, DD is doing most of the work cuz I had to go back to work.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, this is tearing us a part.

    ((((Deb))))

Wendy Whiner tonight....I came down with a virus on top of hellish allergies, so had to skip the celebratory dinner we'd planned for our friend and his graduating daughter. DH went by himself. I really tried to heal in one day....but it wasn't going to happen. At least I won't feel badly for passing on my germs. :/

So while DH enjoyed a lovely meal, I had leftovers steak and spinach pie, grapes and watermelon. It was all great since I hadn't eaten all day and was starved. All's well that ends well. ;)

I feel for inlanders who don't have access to fresh fish....I hated that at my midwestern college,..... but they sure had beef!

    Congrats Carole!

Luv.. So glad you're safe! How's it going tonite? Haven't seen news yet.

Deb... Sorry what you're going through. Know that you have a lot of support here and we're sitting on your shoulder softly whispering encourage in your ear. You are not alone!

Carol... Congrats on the win! At this rate, you'll have the golf glove in a couple years?

Lacey... What can be said? Sometimes life sucks, plain & simple! Would have been nice to attend celebration (period).

For me, DH and I had heated talk yesterday but decided to play nice today, only today, not thinking of tomorrow. For all the years anniversary gets f*@ked up, I did my part to not be a biotch today. And it worked. After PS visit, DH called to invite me to his new work (he's been there since beginning of Feb but didn't want me to see, until today). Dr visit was half-way there. DH wanted to go to fancy, schmancy place, not what I wanted today. Just a nice steak house, and service was great! The last nice dinner out was about a year and a half ago, this was perfect! Had steak & ribs, salad, sweet potato and so much brought home for tomorrow! So grateful I didn't sabotage today.

Lacey... I can only hope! 6 months of bc and all it's pain, discomfort, sleepless nights, worry, ... well, you get the point. Having one good day finally feels strange (and the leftover cheesecake was yummy!)

Deb, comforting hugs for you.  So glad you have your daughter to help you through this difficult time in your life.

2nd, here's hoping you have many more good days.

Playing golf this morning, then coming home to do some quick house cleaning and dinner prep for tonight.  Another couple is coming over for dinner.  We're having baby back ribs finished on the grill, green beans, cabbage slaw and sweet potato casserole.  A good menu for doing things ahead of time.

carole - dinner sounds great.  Can we come, too?

Deb - so sorry for the difficulties you are experiencing.  Take as much good care of yourself as you can muster.

2nd - glad that you had a good dinner.  Not sabotaging yourself is a good step :)  sometimes really hard to do, though (speaking from experience, mind you....).  Keep up the good work!  and enjoy those leftovers.
