Instead of cooking dinner today I'll be doing Easter Breakfast at the Senior Center today.  We serve breakfast every Sunday but try to make Easter a little more festive than the usual.  Except foe the home made buiscits and gravey every thing is cooked to order from the menu. No set meals, just order what ever you want.  Wish you were all close enough to join us.

Happy Easter, everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and friends. Rick just left to go play golf and I will be heading to the sand in a few minutes. It's supposed to be in the low 70s and the howling wind has subsided so it's going to be a lovely beach day.

Joyce - woohoo on the clear MRI!!!

Apple - do you need to add cream cheese to your fruit salad? Just a thought.

    Happy Easter everyone!

Joyce- So glad you checked in with us and YAY on the good MRI!!!  So sorry things are becoming the way they are at the hospital, it;s not right.  At all.  Enjoy your dinner!

Michelle- Hope you get to enjoy some wind free weather.  It sound slike it's getting nicer down ther, so glad.

Debbie- Have fun with your friend having your own dinner.  Sounds like fun to me!

Apple- I hope your dinner goes well and that you are able to enjoy it food wise.

Chabba- WOW!  What else can I say?  That sounds amazing.  They are so lucky to have you.

Carrie, Deb, Lacey, Hauntie, Bedo, Lexi, Kay and EVERYONE I am missing I hope you had a wonderful day!

This weekend has been nuts and we are now officially in quiet time for the rest of the day.  Yesterday we went to a pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt in our town then off to soccer.  Today we had church in the morning and then dinner at my in laws.  She does a great job on her turkey gravy, it was a great meal.  The boys have had waaayy too much sugar, but we allow them to be bad for one day.  Tonight once they go to bed it will all be bagged and put away.  My youngest did not nap today and is in crash mode at the moment.  At least for him that means laying quiet by the fire, lol!

Hope everyone had a great day with family.  Here is a picture of the boys just after church when I caught them sneaking more candy.

Debbie, my biscuits are a my own recipe, a combination of sourdough and buttermilk.  This morning one of our members brought in strawberries so instead of having one with gravy I fixed myself a strawberry shortcake with it.  Yum!

My daughter stayed with me yesterday and today but may go back to the hospital.

I have to get up extra early for work.

Debbie, I made your soup and it was really good.  We had it cold.  We liked the chives and mint especially.  Thank you.

Had a great time tonight, a bunch of people we know showed up and it was a sing and dance fest ( not me) but it was fun. Dinner sucked though, i had a stuffed sole with shrimp and crab topped with a holendaise sauce everything was good but the sole, it was way underdone and really mushy. But they do make the best clam chowder other than my brothers this is so good. if anyone wants the recipe you could google it just type in sea hag clam chowder in depot bay. oregon, if that dosnt work i will paste it here if anyone wants it.

Sounds like everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Laurie...those boys are adorable...brings back memories!  Apple...glad you were able to have a nice Easter and a good talk with your sis.  That is so important to make things right...my younger sister passed at 55, but we were able to touch base and connect before that which I am forever grateful.

Joyce...glad you tests went well, and debbie, your dinner sounded like fun!  It's not always about the food, but about the friends you are having it with!  Bedo...glad you were able to spend time with your DD.  Hope she is feeling better.   Michelle...glad you got some beach time!

Our dinner was awesome!  Weather was awesome!  The little grands had a blast with their baskets, and the two year old loved her first egg hunt, with help from her 9 year old cousin!  The 11 month old made a really big mess with her chocolate bunny (her first) and loved it.  We have absolutely zero leftovers, which is good because we're leaving on vacation on Wednesday and I want a clean refrigerator!  The older kids either watched the Masters with my boyfriend who was glued to the set, or looked at old photograph albums and laughed at themselves when they were young.  We haven't done that for a while, but I came across an old album the other day and kept it out for them to see.  Lots of good memories!  Boy am I tired today...must have been running on adrenalin yesterday, and lifting those 25 pound grands for hugs and kisses has taken its toll on my back and shoulders...oh well...it was worth it!

    Have a good day everyone!

Sea Hag Clam Chowder Best in the West New England Chowder Ingredients 3- 6½ oz. cans chopped clams 4- 8 oz. bottles clam juice ¾ oz. Minor's clam base, about 1 T., optional ¼ t. dries basil ¼ t. dried thyme ¾ cup butter or margarine 1 cup all purpose flour ½ lb. chopped bacon, ends and pieces preferred ¾ cup chopped celery ¾ cup chopped onion 3 cups chopped, peeled potatoes 4 cups scalded milk, or half and half butter chopped fresh parsley Directions Drain clams, reserving juice. Combine reserved juice and clam juice in a large soup pot. Stir in clam base, optional, basil and thyme. Bring to a boil. In the meantime, melt 3/4 cup butter or margarine over medium heat in a small saucepan. Stir in flour to make a roux. Continue to cook for 20 min., stirring occasionally. In a separate skillet, cook the bacon until limp and slightly brown on the edges. Drain off excess fat. Add the celery and onions. Continue to cook for 5 minutes, or until tender crisp. Cook potatoes in lightly salted water just until tender, drain. Stir roux into boiling clam juice, using a wire whisk to blend thoroughly. Stir in clams, bacon mixture and potatoes. Bring mixture back to a boil, then reduce heat. Stir in scalded milk or half and half. Do not let soup boil. Top each serving with butter and fresh chopped parsley.

Kaara- Sounds like you had a fun day. Hope you have a fun and safe time on your vacation.

Laurie- I have to make note to myself "Dont ever watch The Big C when DH is sleeping" I had to put my hand over my mouth to keep from laughing out loud. Just love that show. So does it come on every Sunday?

I woke up coughing and sneezing and my chest feels congested why does it always seem like you get sick right when the weather gets better but you cant go out and enjoy it because your sick uggh!Undecided

Kaara- So glad it sounds like you had a perfect day!!  Where are you going on vacation?

Debbie- It is on every Sunday night.  That is why I love the show, it deals with such deep emotions at times and then has you ready to pee your pants!  When she went to the Dr and got good news and the son jumped up and cheered and hugged her I started to cry.  But the last line in the show made you lol, when Paul says "it was different this time....." it's a little R rated so I'll stop there!

We stayed home and did nothing today.  I have a pot roast in the crock pot which smells amazing, it's making me hungry.

So last Tuesday I got and get my teeth cleaned, x rays etc.  No cavities no problems.  Now I think I have an infection in my gum from the cleaning!!  Grrrrrr.  Now, the question is do I call the dentist or keep trying to heal myself?  I have taken both of the extra antibiotics that I take before a cleaning...they have helped, but it's not cleared up.  Stupid dentist.

My cousin Sue is about 48 years old, she was in a very bad car accident when she was 16.  She was ejected out the passenger window and the car landed on top of her and was without oxygen for a short period of time.  She is on all sorts of meds for seizers amongst other things and has short term memory lost.  My poor aunt has to help her with practically everything.

My aunt is an 8 year colon cancer survivor stage 3, also uterine cancer but that was caught so early she did not need any other treatment, just a hysterectomy.

WOw, Deb, what a family of survivors! And I am impressed with your Easter bread!

Laurie, the boys ' photo is adorable. I hope you get over that infection without having to get back to that dentist chair....too much bad karma for this year's visits.

Bedo, caring thoughts to you and DD.

Joyce, so glad to see your post and that your MRI result was good. Yes, the healthcare "industry" is a far cry from its original mission. Ben Franklin (who supported the establishment of the first hospital) must be rolling over in his grave!

I must see if we get showtime to check out The Big C. Thanks for the reminder, Laurie.

I hope this post gets posted....have tried twice tonight with no success.....

Laurie:  Have you tried flossing really well around the infected area?  Sometimes a little food gets below the gum line after a cleaning, or worse, a piece of tarter that broke off during the cleaning process was pushed down and is causing the gum to be inflamed.  That happened to me and I had to make a trip back for add'l cleaning...gurrr!  They were using that water pic to clean before they used the instruments and I think that pushed it down.  I told her never to use that on me again!

We headed to Nevada where my boyfriend is going to play in a golf tournament with his cousin and his wife and I are going to do spa days.  Then we're driving to Scottsdale Az for a week in a timeshare that we traded our ski week for.  Should be nice this time of year.

Debbie:  Hope you feel better soon!

Michelle- Are you back from your trip yet? I wasnt sure when you were returning.

Bedo- How are you and DD doing? Still keeping her/you in my prayers!!

Fixed Hamburger patties for dinner and asperagus with an aoli sauce- Even though it was organic and suppose to be slime free just couldnt help thinking about it. It kind of ruins the dinner a little bit for me.
