Hey Athena - you can come to our place :) I now have 2 reasons not to go and see her tomorrow. DH has forbidden me driving on that road and I did promise my long lost cousin I would see her this weekend before they leave. I saw her once a month or so ago and it's only the decent thing to do since it is 48 years since I saw her.

My brother just called from East Redmond near Seattle. He had been talking to our mother. Apparently I didn't sound like I wanted her to come up for Xmas. Whatever. I bought her a b'day card (hard to find one that is not too gushy) and 2 scratch-it tickets. I'll post it tomorrow. If I sent her money, she would probably only buy scratchies anyway. I'll call on the day and that's it - why should I expose myself to so much negativity. DH is golfing, so I might do some gardening after I visit my cousin.

Trying to get my brain into gear to go bike riding again - earlier this year I kept saying 'my tyres were flat', had a brief period where I wanted to go riding in May. Well, now 'my tyres are flat again' - not literally but metaphorically. DH just went off on a ride and I just don't want to go too. Maybe I could after I come home from the markets tomorrow? Our daughter lowered my seat and goodness knows what else she did to it.

I might get it out and get DH to check the tyres and the seat height for me just in case I can summon up enough energy tomorrow. I must say, so far the Aromasin is working OK, I do feel a wee spark of energy coming back but I've also started feeling a bit nauseous on the odd occasion.

Beef frajita pizzas for dinner tonight - my own special recipe. Also, bought some decent wine for a change, so I'm looking forward to it.

    FlatSusie :)

Blue -  I wonder if EMEND is ever prescribed for nausea, except during chemotherapy?

I sometimes experience it, and find the old fashioned fresh ginger cut up and made into tea really helps.  But don't know about when it's a reaction to medicine as stong as what you have to take. Hope you find something that works.....so yucky to feel that way.  Thinking of you...

Sunflowers, I will ask about the emend.  They are weaning me off the levodopa as even a quarter pill is too much.  I'm not quite ready to go med-free so they are trying me on the agonist requip, which works on different receptors in the brain.  Nausea is a major side-effect.  Hopefully as I titrate it will stop.  A little better today so am going out with DD to get ingredients for our annual cookie bake.  We subject family members to many different kinds as well as my famous torrone.  Hopefully I won't puke in the store.

Blue, hope you have a good time shopping today -- but hope you can take it easy, too!  Glad you're a little better -- hopefully a lot better as you titrate the Requip -- sorry you're having to go through this....

Man, I must be getting old.Surprised Just posted on the wrong thread - so here goes a cut and paste...

Off to do some exercise and feel productive - a huge contrast to my very unsatisfactory day so far.

....looking at our B&G menu tonight. I see excellent homemade pizza, greens with vinagrette and, best of all, I am not cooking. :-)

And my keyboard is still too cute by half - not every letter I type comes through.

Well - I did it - nearly didn't as it was quite hot already at the markets at 7am. Got home and changed straight away and went for a ride. Only for half an hour, but better than nothing. Saw a lovely family of ducks in the creek by the bike track. Had to wear sunglasses as it's been magpie breeding season and you have to protect your eyes. Didn't see any in attack mode, so hopefully it's over for now.

DH oiled it and pumped up the tyres yesterday for me but I definitely have to get him to raise the seat back to where it was before DD got at it while we were away. It's a start - lets hope I keep at it.

Got some fish for dinner - a NZ breed - hopefully it's nice. Also got my favourite choc fudge and a couple of French pastries for brekky. Bananas were more expensive than the supermarket for a change. We're now down to $2.50 a kilo.

    Sue

Went and said goodbye to my cousin and her husband - they are heading down to where DH's stepmother lives next weekend to see if they like it there. They have sold up and are travelling around in a caravan. It was nice to meet her after all of those 48 years. She had bc 12 years ago, and I think I have helped her in deciding whether to have genetic testing or not - she has 3 daughters and was triple neg.

Her brother had been talking to my mother on the phone a few weeks ago and apparently she said "How can she (that's me the dutiful daughter) go and visit them (the cousin) but not come and see me". I wish she would say it directly to me - I would point out the difference is high speed 1 hour highway trip or 15 minutes local car ride - everything I hear annoys me more and more.

    Bad daughter Susie :)

((Bren)) Sending gentle hugs your way. Blue, sorry you are feeling cr@ppy. I so hate to be nauseous.

My Christmas will be at home with my mother and brothers coming to my house. Got the tree up last night. I swore three years ago NO MORE REAL TREES. Well, I broke down and got one. I will be regretting this when I have to drag it out (down a flight of stairs) while it drops 98% of its needles in my hallway.

Thanks, Athena, it really does look good. I put tons of lights on it. I think that makes the difference. I am already dreading taking it down.

Beautiful, Barbara. I love the way the lights reflect off the tile floor.

We don't have our (artificial) tree up yet.....

Barbara ... what a lovely tree!  I like lots of lights on my tree too.  Years ago a friend sent me a fake tree when we didn't have money to buy a real tree.  I put that little tree up every year now and remember all the love that came with it.

Thank you for the hugs.  I'm still feeling a bit of a sadness hangover ... and I miss my Winston.  It's too quiet around here with him gone.

Tim will be home in a couple of hours and I need to get dressed and take Tank and Maggie for a walk down in the fields.  I'm too depressed to clean the house though!

    Much love to everyone,

    Bren

Barb.....just stopped by and saw your tree..............so very pretty...............I have artificial, but you would never know it to look at it..................I have 18 grandchildren, many grown, but still a few in the 11 /13 age group................they come over before xmas....................I let them decorate the tree, with whatever, and however they want to..................it is always beautiful when they are done.............the 11 year old girl is very artsy, so many of the things she brings are handmade, and she is "GOOD" at what she does...................not like her grandmother who still has to do "stick people" when she draws.

We have Pizza, hot chocolate, and other goodies.........................quality time, and my first xmas with "cancer"...............so this makes it more meaningful then past years................now each year seems to be more important.................it is one more year the "beast" didn't win....................love you ladies.......................hugs.

Just put up some lights and pruned my one poinsetta (single life really shows when you are decorating for Xmas). Thanks for the inspiration, Barbara.

Ducky - nice to see you again!

Gorgeous tree, Barbara.  Thanks for sharing it with us.

Blue - hope you're feeling better.  Please remember to ask about the Emend.

Barbara, I think I'll bask in the beauty of your tree while declining to put one up myself.  I'm doing lazy person's decorating this year: decking out the mantle with candles and vintage bulbs and glass beads, then calling it a day.  I am, however, baking like a fiend.  The annual fruitcakes (don't laugh) are mellowing, and I have four kinds of cookies done, four more to go (next weekend's project).

Blue, I hope the nausea is better.  That really sucks that the PD meds are doing that to you.

I'll just quote a line from my favorite fictional detective  - Hercule Poirot - when he was befuddled: "Nom d'un nom d'un nom." If you wonder what this is about, it's about nonsense.

Barbara the tree is very pritty. We bought a real one today, but so far we haven't decorated it. It needs to relax a bit to let the limbs down.

Lewing - I LOVE fruit cake.  Seriously - especially the way my British friends serve it with "hard sauce" which is usually reserved for Plum Puddings - but it's so good on fruit cake too.  Wonder how fruit cake got such a bad reputation....really, I LOVE it.  Don't have it anymore, but still like thinking of it.

Ang, Rosemary -  guess I missed the nonsense - but then I've learned to stay away from a lot of threads ;-)

Did post a new one in Complimentary - asking about natural ways of keeping down blood sugar levels.  Seems, the Fish Oil which has been SO wonderful in reducing my cholesteral, might be a factor in my way up fasting blood sugar levels. I wanna scream "igiveup" - but I don't  - just so confuzzled.

Can't remember who it was on the AI SE thread who used to say "Are we having fun yet?"

    OH, BOTHER!

Oh, Blue - I am so sorry to hear this, that is if the requip was helping you.  I know Emend is the best anti nausea when used during chemotherapy.  Hoping your docs can come up with something for you.

    Thinking of you....
