Bren, if you have some autumn pictures of your place I would love to see them. You live surrounded by such beauty.

Didn't get the job girls - pessimism works - I'm not the least bit upset!! As, I said before, I wasn't sure I really wanted to do that work - feedback was fine - it was good to go through the interview process seeing I was out of practice.

Anyone watching The Passionate Eye right now??? Featuring The Scar Project by photographer David Jay and documentary of the ladies in The Scar Project.
-
I had the news channel on with the sound off while talking to a friend on the phone and there when I looked up was a woman showing her brand new mastectomy scar. Yikes! I didn't want to see that. If I want to see one, I can look in the mirror. No doubt it is a sensitive and useful show for some purposes. Can't think what those purposes might be.
-
I'd rather they show the scars than try to put a pink ribbon on everything and I mean everything - dog biscuits???I mean, really????? I say just donate the damned money and stop trying to tell the world what a nice, easy PINK time we're all having.
-
lassie.......I think the documentary was a real eye opener for all, especially for younger women whom the public and some doctors percieve as too young to have BC. I appauld these young women for coming out and really telling thier stories along with showing what BC has done to thier lives and bodies, it sure takes the pink fluff away. Some of these young ladies since starting thier documentary with David Jay have returned for second photo shoots and have also experienced recurrances. Thier stories have not only been documented in words but also in pictures which have been on display in special showings in New York and will soon be published in a special edition book. You can also visit the website of The Scar Project to read thier stories and show support for them and the project and the thousands of women who visit the site who also have BC. This project is meant to show the true reality of BC.

The scar project was very moving. These young women were so incredibly brave to participate. I agree it really shows the true side of breast cancer..not the pink stuff. Definitely worth watching.

Hold on ladies...October is almost over and then we'll see nothing but red and green......Oh did I say Christmas is just around the corner? Argh!
-
Artsee - did you get to see a doc? hope all is well...
-
Morning girls - day off today - special leave again
Going to see the breast surgeon this afternoon and after that the oncologist, seeing I missed seeing him when I had the Zometa. Got one of my cousins from NZ coming for a visit this morning. He always comes to see me if he's over here which is nice.
Got my first pay at the higher rate - wow a whole $30 a week more, I'm sure I'll be able to buy lots with that. The taxes here suck if you are on a high salary - 47%!!!!
Still not upset about not getting that job, I was even quite happy about it last night - strange woman.

Yes, Bren, I got out of the trip.
Lassie I'm with you on seeing scars on TV. The Scar Project is overwhelming and very emotional for me. I prefer to watch it when I am prepared.
Susie, glad or not glad you didn't get the job. -
Sue .. congrats on the raise ... $120 a month is a good raise.
Blue .. was hoping to see a note from you. Hope your appointment went well today. Have you decided to stay in the 'wait and watch' mode?
Barbara .. glad to hear you don't have to go to Boston .. I sure hope you're starting to feel better.
Artsee .. I was at Lowe's over the weekend and they have all their Christmas stuff out now.
Lassie .. I didn't see the show you wrote about. I think it would be a very emotional thing to watch.
Hope everyone had a good day!

Went for mammo and U.S. today for the fibroadenoma.
The radiologist said it hadn't changed at all and doesn't think its anything to worry about. She's the one that found my ILC 5 years ago so I trust her. I might just keep an eye on it for now but will wait for my BS's recommendation. What an ordeal though. Very tricky with the stimulator in my chest just above my boob.
-
Yes, insisted on getting in yesterday. Took a mamo and ultra sound. Both were clear and three Oncos came up with 'Radiation recall' and/ or Radial necrosis. This can happen years out from radiation. Scary.
-
Blue - good news!! Now just to get your setting right and you'll be fine.
Bren - it was $220 per month before tax - grrrrhh.
Barb - I guess I knew I wouldn't get it as I've been MIA for so long and not up to date with all of the changes in our software, still it was worth the try.
DH has been spoiled today seeing I'm home - bacon, eggs and tomato - I shouldn't offer or he'll expect it. I normally reserve a cooked breakfast for Sundays.
-
Susie...just picked tomatoes. That sounds good. What's the recipe?
-
Yay Artsee and Yay Blue! Hate scans.
-
Oooohh, Artsee - does that go away? Is it unusual? More important, does it "mean" anything? Tho must be disturbing to see it on yourself...can't remember who it was, about BC being "the gift that keeps on giving."
I've gotten a handle on why I'm so darn tired - the wicked antihistamines I keep needing for allergy. Looking so forward to the first FROST ;-)
-
Artsee - no recipe, just fried eggs, bacon and tomato.
-
Just got back from the bs - she wants me to have an ultrasound of the left axilla - one node feels a bit enlarged, but it also feels soft. Also wants me to have a needle biopsy of the my goitre as it has grown since last year. Crap - I can handle it, but DH will go off his tree - maybe I can get away with not telling him.
The good news is, the MRI report was fine.
I'm totally sick of this crap!!!!

Hi!----There have been so many tests since Susieq went on her trip, a group off to NOTL . Do Holidays cause cancer? Do your drs, the BS,PS,etc treat you as a whole or are you a cancer only patient? Does it matter to the onc that Susie has a goiter [hopefully just a nothing] DO they just use their Tunnelvision or are they using their HDvision to actually see you to see you as WHOLE PERSON? kad2kar
-
Saw the onc this afternoon - they were squeezing me in, but he saw me second - I love that man. He felt the lymph node and agreed it feels soft which is good. He also said the breast clinic would have covered that area with the ultrasound last week (I couldn't remember) but to do as I'm told and have it checked again but he thinks it will be fine. He also said to go ahead with the goitre biopsy which he is also sure will be fine. He is always very positive and very caring unlike some docs I've seen like my original bs.
I got to tell him all about the trip and the baby and he seemed pleased we had such a great holiday. He said NOT to tell DH and just go and do the tests - he knows what a worrier he is as he is his patient as well. He gave me a script for Aromasin to try instead of Arimidex as I told him I feel really old
I might try it for a few months and see if I feel any better. So, here I am trying not to worry and trying to be all smiles to DH - how long can I keep it up. I'll call tomorrow to see when I can get the tests done - if I pick a day DH goes to golf, I can be sure he will be home late so can hide it better.
Sue
-
{{Susie}} Prayers going up for you, gal!
Hope everyone has a splendid hump day!
-
Thanks Barb - I didn't mention that the ultrasound result made no mention of this node - she felt it when she examined me. So if they did U/S the axilla, then they didn't find anything wrong.
We'll see I guess. I'm certainly not rushing off to get the tests - it will have to be when it's convenient.
-
SusieQ - I can so empathasize with the never ending something always seems to crop up aspect of our lives. So exhausting, the looking, feeling, wondering, and knowing it will ( WE HOPE) just go on and on for years.
I'm already getting freaky about my 6 month checkup at Dana Farber - and it's not until Nov 10! But you've given me an idea, I think I may ask about changing to Aromasin. I wonder if it will help with this exhaustion. Tho I dod feel a little less tired not taking an antihistamine this am, pelting rain, so maybe the ragweed will all get washed away.
Does anyone else still get the CLICK FOR US, click, click whenever they log on to BCO? Why doesn't the largest multinational which bought out the little Yogurt company just give the $$$$$. Feels so hyporitical to be driving traffic to their website. Wonder what they get for the web hits? Exept for our email addresses - which is obvious. Well, folks, I am SO HAPPY being DAIRY FREE. Lost a lot of weight, bloat, no more sinus infections (less mucous in the body) and next to being gluten free, it's the best dietary change to make. Thanks to David Servan Schreiber for that advice. I still love, love his book.

I always get slightly crazy two to three weeks before my onco appointments. It happenes even when I don't think there's anything wrong. I need some good drugs before scans. I am going to ask for them this time. I will keep in mind 3monstasmommas cautionary tale on her thread though.
How long does it take when you go gluten free to see a difference? I don't really like bread or pasta so that step might be easier than dairy free for me. After I clicked twice I no longer got the click here messages. I eat yogurt every day for the acidophilous but I can't see why yogurt companies can't just give money to research. Clicking, and sending in lids or codes is just annoying.
-
O.K. ladies - time to worry with me - I had an echocardiogram almost three weeks ago and got a call from PCP's office that she wanted to see me to "talk about it" - WTF - anyway appointment is this afternoon - I haven't had a good 9 days since the phone call (I am a worrier).
Funny, never had a single heart related problem till BC now on BP meds and also digoxin for an arrithymia and now WHAT?????
My next scans are in December week before Christmas and I am already worrying about them - when does this end?????
-
Sandy and Susie, it all sucks! Please keep us posted.

Within 3 weeks of stopping all wheat gluten - I no longer needed any meds for joint pain. I do not have celiac disease, and along with so, so many people - find that wheat gluten contributes to joint inflammation. So many of my friends have gone gluten free, and each woman feels so much better. I lost weight, bloat, and my appetite decreased. Going Dairy free, meant I could breathe thru my nose for the first time in years! Literally - no more sinus infections, and more weight loss. I use acidophilous pills ( if I need them) I get from the Health food store. IF I wanted yougurt( which I don't) I'd use organic goat's milk, or sheep's milk - most cow milk yougurt has SOME BGH ( bovine growth hormone) in it - which contains a form of "estrogen" - YUCK! So if I were to have any cow's milk yougurt - I'd make sure it was NO BGH on the label.
I refuse to CLICK - and so I guess I just have to put up with the annoying screen everytime I sing on.
-
I did click but I refuse to send in code numbers or yugurt lids. How does licking a yogurt lid help the cause. Just give the money already!
Three weeks is not bad, very doable for gluten. Dairy will be hard. It is in so much, but my husband is already(mostly dairy free so that could be done.
Quick recipe tip-mashed potatoes made with chicken broth are really good.
I sure have enough inflamation problems to do some of this, but not until next week.
Did I tell you guys my son gets married in the Church this Saturday? He lives in another state and so does his bride's family but they're doing it here. I am making a flower girl dress. We got two of my friends to help with food,,I rented the hall and we are doing the rehearsal dinner at ou house. I was crazy to have that here but the kids made the food for the recption and I didn't want the rehearsal dinner to be fancier. I did fail at getting music for the wedding. AT first they didn't want any and then they ddi so it was too late.
The flowers that are in church right now are beautiful and that is what we will use.I have today tomorrow and Friday off so I can clean and cook.. Oh and DH is out of town until Thursday night at a class he signed up for AFTER we had the wedding date. I guess I should be flattered that he thinks I can do everything by myself but...
