summertyme: That sounds more like AK-47 fingers.

Blue is banned???!!!! WTF!!!! How on earth could that happen? She has not written anything that deserves being banned! This has gotten completely out of hand.
I am just livid right now!
-
Moderators just replied and have reversed the ban!!!!
-
Hope there are no system delays or glitches. Now, what will be done about the people who reported the posts. Again, a question for the Gods.
-
IIRC, that's happened before, when someone's automatic ban was reversed by the Mods but the computer software didn't get the memo. She might have to be reinstated manually (or something like that).
<sigh> We miss you, blue.

See, the mods do work on the weekends - why they aren't policing this mess is beyond me - I vote for taking out the report button entirely then if someone has a problem they'll have to PM the mods.
-
I second that Sandy!
The mods indicated that they have put other measures in place to deal with the spam and I don't recall seeing anybody trying to sell us shoes, etc. for awhile now. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about it being gone?
The main reason we needed the Report button with instant deletions was for spam. If that problem has been otherwise dealt with we should be able to replace 'Report' with a 'Contact the Mods' button???
Glad blue has been freed from captivity ... and quickly too!! Still it is aggravation that none of us need. Not to mention the 'icky' factor of being targeted like that ... that people spend their time doing that is just plain creepy.
-
A Contact the Mods button to replace the Report this Post button is a super idea, WR! (Why didn't I think of that??)
BTW, thanks for your help Susieq!
-
My pleasure - I did tell them who I thought was responsible (just guessing) so I hope they get their wrists slapped.
-
Whether you call the button "Contact the Mods" or "Report this Post", the function remains the same. It may be time to increase the number of reports that it takes to remove a post.
The moderators have always been able to see who reports which posts. That they don't make that information public does nothing to change the fact that they are well aware of which poster(s) push the report button for which posts. They may not however, be spending hours trying to decipher which new screen names go with which long time posters.
For all of you who are so concerned about making the identities of those who report posts public, what would you do with that information? Stew? Feel superior for guessing correctly? Retaliate? How? Do you think that might be part of the reason that the information is not public?
Life is too short to wallow in anger.
-
PatMom, I think the point about making identities known is that it would inhibit people who realize they are reporting posts that don't break any rules -- which would be a good thing. Further, it would actually lessen suspicions and harsh feelings -- as things have stood for the past few years, when a post is deleted, people start accusing others of the deletions, including guesses that people are somehow deleting their own posts in order to portray themselves as victims! (I personally don't think this has ever been done, mind you!) I think it's clear that the function has been abused in the past, was not so abused in the brief interval when reporters' names were visible, and has again been abused recently.
-
It stopped completely for awhile. Enough said.
Take away the darn button. Use a Contact the Mods and they look at a post and decide if it breaks any rules. If not ... no innocent poster is upset or penalized ... and the mods can contact the reporter with the reasons they have decided the report is not justified. If the reporters are using alternate IDs they will soon find they are just wasting their time and not succeeding in harassing the poster. Viola.
-
I wonder how much time it would take to go through and deliberately report so many posts for one person. Would it have been a team of people working together or one person with several identities? After that I wonder what could possibly cause the reporter(s) to get so worked up about someone who has done nothing wrong, indeed someone who has provided a peaceful, supportive environment in this thread and others - particularly at this vulnerable time.
Then my head hurts because all this reporting makes absolutely no sense. At the very least the reporter(s) ought to be grown up enough to own up to their actions since this forum no longer provides the function that forced people to do so. In real life a hit and run is a serious offence.
-
Lassie .. the whole experience makes me sad and tired. I can understand that it makes your head hurt. I have an obsession with things making sense .. this makes no sense, and I can't stand that.
Bren
-
Well, I agree, Lassie. But I think the posters with the wandering fingers intentionally hitting the Report button haven't thought things through to their logical conclusion, have they? Rather like children.....
-
Hopefully the moderators will see a pattern as they would be able to see the names. Good idea to ban them if they are reporting posts for no reason.
-
Sheesh, I go away for a few hours and all h#ll breaks loose. I am very happy that Blue is un-banned but very unhappy with the rash of deletions this weekend. I truly hope the mods ban those responsible. I, too, am sick and tired of 'pinkwash' and 'prevention is the cure'. BAH! I used to eat SF products and I still got BC. Hows them apples! Screw prevention, we need a cure!
-
Either show the names of the reporters or get rid of the damned button. Nothing else will work.
-
Hillck - it sounds as though your PS wasn't very sure of herself to begin with. But it's good to see you go from sad to angry in this, because that is when things get hopeful and you spring into action.
-
Morning Everyone .. glad to see we're all still here!
Hillck .. I'm so sorry for your struggles. I would be upset too ... and Athena is right, anger spurs us on to take action. Hopefully, you can get another referral to a surgeon .. one you can trust. (((Cindy))).
Well .. first thing this a.m., my dog Tank hugged me and put a tic on me. arghh. What a way to wake up. Time for more Frontline!
Hope everyone has a good day .. will be interesting to see if we hear from the mods about all the hoopla over the weekend.

Revenge is a terrible emotion. There are ringleaders, that's for sure. I just feel very comfiortable in my skin, in that I can be caustic, but at the same time have integrity in the way I deal with situations. What you see is what you get ladies. If you like it, fine, if not, just ignore me. That's all I'm going to say.
I had a wonderful day yesterday. Spent half a day with the little George in my life and the rest of the day with the big George (my Dad). It feels wonderful to be able to do that. When my stimulator was turned off last Wednesday and I was on no meds, I realized exactly where I am with the PD progression and it wasn't a pretty picture. So I'm glad for the medical advancements in this area and very glad I had the guts to go ahead with the surgery. No amount of self help would have given me the relief I have now, and believe me, I have tried.
Thank you dear friends for being here for me.
-
Just woke up, missed the madness - but still ANGRY that people are using their trigger fingers to attack women with bc - and with all Blue also has to deal with - it makes me as angry as when Elizabeth was "banned." What do we do to stop this madness!
Blue, lovely to hear you had a super weekend - join you in PRAISE of the medical advances - and your courage! Years ago "friends" tried to "selp help" me during a terrible experience of clinical depression - took the MEDICAL route, and learned a lot in the process.
-
Blue, never feel you have to explain yourself on this thread.
That is scary about your PD. Regarding modern medicine, I couldn't agree with you more.
-
Blue, Glad to see you're back. This weekend was nuts with reporting people. Lets hope it dies down now that it's Monday.
-
{{CINDY}} I agree with Athena, getting mad is a step in the right direction.
Blue, again I agree with Athena, you have no need to explain yourself here. We know you and love you and I admire you so much for being so brave and having the surgery.
Hopefully the mods will do something concrete about the deleters. Not holding my breath, though.
-
Blue
You did nothing out of line. I think there was someone(s) flaming the flames of honest disagreement and making them sound like bullying. As for modern medicine I am grateful for the fact that it has brought us well past the point where all women with breast cancer got to the state that one woman described that made someone else sick to her stomach.
Modern medicine does not have all the answers but along with lifestyle changes it gives us a chance.
-
Blue:
Glad you're back and that you had a nice day yesterday. You truly are courageous for having the PD surgery - my father had PD and there was nothing in those days (he passed away in '79). BTW you NEVER have to explain yourselves to any of us on this thread - NEVER EVER.
Hugs, Sandy

It's not hard to surmise who is doing all the post reporting, is it? I mean, everyone knows who was creating drama over here last week, threatening lawsuits if we continue discussing food, etc. Obviously the person who was causing all the trouble is the reporter, right?
I think the next time someone comes over here threatening law suits for posting about food, I am going to be the first to report their post. I don't care who it is, either. New screen names, all that, don't fool me or anyone else.
-
Desdemona:
Yes, that's when I "lost it" - I actually did have brussels sprouts that night and so what? I say get rid of the "button" permanently!!!!!

desdamona
I would not blame that person completely. I think others were egging her on and I think it is an outrage because she stated on another thread that she was in a fragile state.
