OH MY EMBARRASSED SELF. ENJOYFUL, that was a GROSS error on my part. I hope you and everyone else realizes I did not mean thumbs down, I meant thumbs UP. This just shows why I dont post very often. Just as I was doing that DH said hurry up lets go, and I thought I hit the right ones.
ENJOYFUL,i am so glad there is regression in tumors.
APOLOGIES to all-----------kad2kar

K2K - I just figured you meant thumbs down to the cancer. We know that you are wonderful and would never wish bad thoughts on anyone. Don't worry yourself.
-
K2K, I had the same thought as GG. No way would I ever think otherwise about you!
-
I posted my Istanbul pics on another thread. It is called "How Vain Are You." Too lazy to post all of it again. Tried to link but it doesn't work. :-(
-
K2K ---I knew as well. The reason I instantly knew is how often I'm rushed and thinking a little past what I'm doing and having the same outcome you did. I feel comfortable about everyone here knowing that I'm solidly for and with them and knew that is where you are too. I hope you will continue to post when you are moved to and not worry.

I just went and looked at your pictures ( surprise, I was able to find them with my computer skills being near zero ) and they were outstanding. Of course, I was SOOOOO impressed with how the animals are treated there. What sanity exists for humane and loving treatment. It makes so much sense in decreasing overall population....and seeing to basic needs of care, feeding and housing.

Jackie, being an animal rights proponent, I noticed how well and content the animals looked right away. When I mentioned this to my husband's students, who were touring us around, they explained the situation. The contrast with what I saw in India was unbelievable. Of course, humans are much better off in Turkey also. We never saw areas of deep poverty in Istanbul, much less people living in tent communities surrounded with barbed wire!
-
Wonderful to see that 'some' places in the world have much going for them that is enviable. The greed and avarice here would never allow such "good" to exist on a daily consistent basis. Very sad.

I agree Jackie. Our arrogance about how superior we are to others (especially those of the Muslim faith) is despicable and just plain wrong. Of course there are horrors going on in the name of Islam, but there is also much kindness and love stemming from that faith. Two of our Muslim guides (one my DH's former student and the other his friend) were devoutly religious. Whenever we went into a mosque they spent some time praying. Yet they both said they are completely tolerant of other religions, and absolutely support others right to worship as they choose. Our other student guide is non-religious. Her family was Muslim but never practiced the faith. She wore no veil and usually dressed in more revealing outfits than me. I have to admit that I had more than one stereotype shattered during this trip.

OH for the love of pete ... the damn picture is huge again.

Blue --- under reach
absolutely.
Jackie
p.s. Bren I sent you a pm about resizing pics....like I knew what I was talking about but it works for me and I know very little about computers. I struggled at first with the instructions the mods gave me, but accidentally did what they told me once.....just by listening to the words in the instructions like submit and edit. The reason it was an accident is that I found the words below my post/picture and used them in the order given. I had no clue -- but it worked and I have been mainly happy ever since.
EDIT: Forgot to add, you can go back and re-size several times if you post and don't feel it is REALLY like you wanted or like it seemed it would be when you checked it and then posted it out.

Bren. You are definitely a month ahead of our growing season. I love Phlox and hostas. Actually I don't think I have met a flower I didn't like.
-
Hi Guys!Jackie ... you're a genius! Thanks for the tip. I was able to make it a little smaller. It's good to know how to do that. The pictures are usually really big on BCO when I copy them from Facebook.
Kay ... I love all flowers too. My favorite for many years were zinnias and roses!
hugs,
Bren

How I wish I was Bren, but I assure you.....I learned very accidentally because I was so frustrated and once in awhile....I still experienced trouble. Can't always post links as I'm not in an area that lends itself and I don't know how to change it. Anyway, you can in fact, go back to your pic time after time if need be. Just look for that sweet little word EDIT and then get your mouse down to the lower rt. and have at it.
Jackie
My EDIT for this post......I love roses which were among my Mom's favorites. I use them a lot for an avatar. Once in awhile I actually use a pic of myself, but not too often. Off to feed the ferals today.

Sometimes they have no trouble dishing the music out.....but facing up to it....now that is a whole other thing.
Jackie
Might have to go to NBC news and find the story....I'm thinking the link is too long.

A link that probably will work and it is right on pretty much: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/06/26/1309636/-The-conservative-mindset-in-two-sentences

Why would any person put a picture of a candidates spouse in a nursing home in their ad? Just creepy and sad.

Creepy and sad sort of describes the T-party.

Hot and muggy here. Good thing there is still some time left on my pass to the Rec Center so I'll be able to walk. So far I've lost 37 pounds and have about 20 to go. Something tells me those might come hard --- or maybe I shouldn't put that thought in my head. Sometimes it is almost easier for me not pay too much attention to gain or lose and just make sure I eat right and get some exercise in.....and it sounds so easy and full of common sense. Doing it takes some practice for me because I can get as easily pulled off of good things as I can the not nearly as good. Just let me pass one antique/collectable store and it can wreck nearly every good plan I made for the day.
The kicker is that I rarely get anything in those stores. There are only a couple of things I normally might look for....and one is very small Pyrex-type or Pyrex dishes. Started a while back ( the really small -- just right for one or two ) bowls, tiny platters, bakers. I use them, but just like to "find" usable treasures. Planning on not taking any route today where I'm anywhere near places where the good things are.

We all are pretty aware that this Congress that we have has been the LEAST productive one ever http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/06/28/president-obama-strikes-back-video/ and it is about time that Pres. lays out in plain English where the river meets the road. JMHO but persistence here on the part of Boehner and GOP is not going to pay off very well for them. Again jmho but they best save what face they can and back off of the really stupid stunts like lawsuits.

Jackie, I have a house full of antiques! I just can't pass them up either. My house is beginning to look like a museum.
