Good Afternoon,

I've been so busy working .. I love it!

Had another tick on my neck last night.  I am so sick of them.  When I pulled this one off, he left a big red welt on my neck, right under my chin.

Alyson ... Your son is so handsome.  Reminds me a lot of my son.  He has dark hair and olive skin and I'm really fair with blue eyes.  You must be so proud of him!

Pip ... I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved cat.  It really hurts to lose a pet we love.

Aw Pip -- I'm so sorry.  As Bren says, it really hurts to lose a much-loved 4-legged member of the family.  We know how you must be feeling.

Bren -- OUCH on the tics.  Have never had one, but I'm just getting over a nasty bite on my neck from who knows what sort of beastie.

oooohhh...Bren - do you have Lyme disease where you are????  The ticks are horrendous up here this year - just gone wild. I'm so covered up when I go outside, until black fly season ends - but do stay out of tall grass where the deer roam.

So sorry Pip - I had no idea cats could live so long.  I'm highly allergic to them, so never been in my family.  I DID have a parakeet who lived for 12 years  - he had the "run" of the house - just slept in the open door cage.  Miss the morning chirping...

PiP, I'm so sorry about your fur baby.  We get so much love and joy from them that it is so hard to let them go.    I still miss my Puffy who I had to put down a couple months after my first dx.  She was such a good little soul and only 16.  You are such a good cat mom.

I've lost so many beloved pets over the years.  I still tear up when I think of them.  But knowing that they had a good life and  were so loved does help.  Pip, you must have been a great cat-mom to have your baby for so long.

Hi Guys,

I worry about lyme disease all the time.  I need to go online and check out the symptoms.  This is the fifth tick on me so far this year.  The last one on my belly left a big welt too.  I think they jump out of the trees on me when I'm mowing.  I try to keep the grass short in all of the fields so the ticks won't get on me.  Lot of good that's been doing me lately.

I still miss my beloved Bobo and he died a couple of years ago.  It's so hard to lose our pets, especially the ones we have such a close bond with.

Suzie ... going to the doctor here costs at least $100.  Then they would want to send you to a specialist in blood sucking creatures to actually remove it   My dad used to put a hot matchstick on them and make them back out.

Wabbit ... You are 100% right.  Wish we had a "like" button.  Usually I remove them with tweezers, but the one last night pissed me off so much, I just pulled him off.  I did check ... and the head wasn't left behind.

I just came back from my God knows how many visits to one of my 20 doctors, lol, and it didn't cost me a cent.  Well just bus fare.......not rubbing it in or anything!  They changed the polarity on my stimulator and it feels a wee bit better.  The next 2 days will see if the improvement is permanent.  This DBS programming is all trial and error as it is individual.  Don't mind the doctor visits but it is an hour away.

Blue - you pay the same amount I do with Medicare!  Yes, I'm one of the 47%  I do have a BCBS Supplement, but both together cost me less than I used to pay for health insurance.  Still using the same docs, all is well.

Bachmann’s Greatest Misses

In an unexpected move, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) announced early this morning via a Saturday Night Live-esque video that she would not seek another term in the House of Representatives. She went out of her way to say that her retirement had absolutely nothing to do with the prospect of losing her seat (which she won by just over one percent in 2012 in a district that Mitt Romney won by 15 points) or the numerous investigations into financial improprieties surrounding her 2012 presidential campaign.

Along with former Reps. Allen West and Joe Walsh and the likes of current Reps. Steve King and Louie Gohmert, the Tea Party darling and 2012 presidential contender has been one of ThinkProgress’ most frequent subjects. Here’s a look back at eight of Bachmann’s most outlandish moments:

1. Bachmann peddled a dangerous anti-vaccine conspiracy. Bachmann pushed the disproved theory that the vaccine for HPV — which prevents cervical cancer — can cause mental retardation. That misinformation has had a wide and lasting impact: Vaccination rates are still remarkably low, and experts blame figureheads like Bachmann who communicated misleading information to the public.

2. Bachmann called being gay ‘personal enslavement.’ On the issue of LGBT rights, Bachmann has a long record of either mocking gay and trans (like when she said she’d mistaken ex-gay therapy for anti-aging therapy, ‘pray away the grey‘). But when she isn’t mocking sexual orientation, she has treated it more like a mental disorder. Famously, Bachmann once said, “It’s a very sad life. It’s part of Satan, I think, to say this is gay. It’s anything but gay. [...] Because if you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. Personal bondage, personal despair, and personal enslavement. And that’s why this is so dangerous.”

3. Bachmann considers climate climate change ‘a hoax.’ While experts warn that global climate change is already set to have a lasting impact on our environment, Bachmann calls climate change “all voodoo, nonsense, hokum, a hoax.” She also cast doubt on the entire field of climate science. At a town hall in her district, Bachmann informed constituents that climate science is not “real science” but “manufactured science.”

4. Bachmann led an Islamophobic witch hunt. Last year, Bachmann sought to “expose” members of the Muslim Brotherhood within the U.S. government. The totally unfounded witch hunt was essentially Bachmann’s personal indictment of one of then-Sec. of State Hillary Clinton’s aides, Huma Abedin, but it also served to fuel anti-Muslim bigotry. Bachmann’s fellow party members came out against her, with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) slamming her on the Senate floor for her “unwarranted and unfounded attack.”

5. Bachmann claimed Obamacare would ‘literally’ kill people. In a screed against Obamacare on the House floor, Bachmann warned that the law “literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens.” She also questioned, in an interview with a fringe website that peddles conspiracy theories, whether Obamacare would allow the IRS to “deny or delay access to health care” for conservatives.

6. Bachmann told the American people that Iran had plans to nuke the U.S.During a presidential debate on the issue of national security, Bachmann falsely claimed that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had laid out plans to bomb the United States with a nuclear weapon.

7. Bachmann called on the American media to investigate ‘anti-American’ politicians. Bachmann’s first witch hunt of her career was against her own colleagues in Congress. In 2008, Bachmann told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that she hoped the media would investigate Democratic members of Congress, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). “I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress,” she said, “and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America?”

8. Bachmann wanted to ban all porn. As part of her crusade for conservative values, Bachmann has pushed to ban “all forms of pornography.” This is actually contradictory to the Tea Party’s focus on the constitution, given the fact that pornography clearly falls within First Amendment right to freedom of expression.

Pip....I am so sorry about the loss of your friend.  I do know life spans are predicated on breed and whether the cat lives inside or is inside/outside. 

I do feel that those who live with us are usually given a life to be envied but loss is loss.  We are never quite ready to lose anyone we deeply care for and especially those we live with 24 hours a day.  I hope time will work its healing and you soon can remember your friend without pain.
