Ok, here's my response:

No one is more playful than lion cubs:
or tender....
....or tenderly loved:
Some have loving fathers....
.....who like to take them out on walks:
Early on, they can be contemplative...
Or perhaps they just love that photo op...
Lions are endangered and we need to protect them. Otherwise family portraits like this one will become a rare sight:
and especially this one...

ETA: Had to change one of the pictures.

Adorable lion cubs, but I like snow leopards too. I have to confess a particular weakness for cheetahs, though.
-
cheetahs are adorable.
-
One of my past novels (also not published - but not my favorite book) involved cheetahs. I went to a place in Cincinnati where they train and try to breed cheetahs. They are majestic creatures, and the woman I met had formed close bonds with the cheetahs she trained. Sadly cheetahs are disappearing with their habitate. They are incredibly difficult to breed in captivity - and even in the wild, between the preditors and lack of genetic diversity which causes birth defects, few cubs make it to maturity.
-
Cheetahs are the only "large" cat that can purr, by the way. They chirp to call each other. Can't roar.
They are very tameable and trainable, except for housetraining. The woman I met raised her cheetahs in a barn. (She worked for the Cincinnati Zoo, which is at the forefront of breeding programs in this country.)
-
Cheetahs are incredibly endangered, yes. They are more vulnerable in the wild than lions because they are more specialized predators.
-
I really do love lions! And they are incredibly endangered. I have signed many a petition to help them. Anyway, here's another family portrait to add to your collectio Athena.

All the pictures from all of you are great. The feline animals, whether male or female seem just majestic. Behind so many of those beautiful eyes are worlds we can only imagine. I love cats of all kinds, and hate that we have encroached on habitats or otherwise made their survival questionable.
Sun here today which I am very grateful for as I don't do well with too many gray and rainy days. So my mood is up and that will make my day ( or should ) a much easier one. Hope the day goes well for all. Hoping power will soon come on for all the NE people.

Just dropped in to say "hi / paws up" to you felines (if you don't mind the vernacular). I've been on the road since Friday, far from from home, seeing PS, PT, etc. (routine stuff) and staying with a friend in the "big city." Won't be home until Friday. For now, can't possibly catch up with this thread, let alone catch my breath with the goings on here. I hope everyone is healthy & happy. Including the horse, dogs and cats! xxo

Bwahahaha for the day ...
http://news.yahoo.com/ron-paul-feuding-fans-230957171.html
"Ron Paul is feuding with his own rabid fan base over the ownership of RonPaul.com. Paul wants it, but his fans own it. They're willing to sell it to him... for a price Paul doesn't agree with. So now he's taken the dispute all the way to the United Nations."
They own it ... you want it ... and they expect you to pay up. You taught them that everybody for himself philosophy well. Paul running to the United Nations for help is as priceless as when Limbaugh went running to the ACLU.
-
Wabbit, hilarious! What goes round, comes round.

Kam, safe travels!
-
I guarantee the U.N. won't touch this with a 10-foot pole, and not only because Paul has heaped ridicule and downright nastiness on that body. What a d-bag!
On another note, it rained here last night, the temps are well above freezing, the sun is shining, and at least half the snow has melted! Feels like spring!

So Joseph Ratzinger has resigned. Good riddance to that pedophilia allower and general all around retrograde. Not that I'm expecting anything progressive from the Vatican, mind you. I'm sure they will name someone of Ratzinger's choosing. Let's just hope it's not an actual pedophile.
-
Probably not a good idea to discuss religion here, but I must say conspiracy theories (some with more facts than opinions) are abounding as to the actual "why" of the resignation. No doubt we'll know much more within the year......
Watched the second to last episode of Downton Abbey last evening. While it's little more than a soap opera (as of course were all Dickens' newspaper serial stories, albeit not sponsored by soaps!) I find the writing to really capture the changing mores well, and to remind us of how far we've actually come in our thinking and behaviour. Of course, many would say "Not far enough" and they'd be right!
Even my DH has gotten interested, and is catching up on past episodes
. And now it's off to the gym to work those lazy muscles a bit....! -
Oh, go on! What are some of the conspiracy theories?
