Getting ready to go hit my recliner ( not a great chair for muscle strain in the back ) and my heating pad.  Went to the Dr. today and got some meds to hopefully fix me up over this.  Had to drive 73 miles there and back.  Worth it though as the Tyelenol wasn't making a dent at all.

So late night musing......or early morning.......do you get the feeling sometime that life's happenings are leaving you behind.......for instance, the scandal mags at the checkout counter. I don't know who the people are anymore or what the heck they did to become a "celebrity". Big breakup for someone name Betheny.....who the heck is she...what did I miss? Nothing for sure.



Used to feel I was keeping up with technology but now I don't even want to talk to SIRI. She scares me. My clamshell phone marked me as hopelessly behind so I succumbed to the,little square box and I've learned how to finger type.........something I would have gotten a ruler to the knuckles for in typing class. Occasionally I even spell badly on a text just to be in the in crowd.



It's like I'm on the beltway of life speeding in the middle lanes when my puddle jumper starts choking and forcing me over to the slow lane while the busy important people keep on racing by, multi tasking and driving..........



The thing is I believe I like it........time to get off and forge some other, quieter more serene path I think.



Anyway who are these people on Letterman and Leno these days? What are they selling? Come back Johnny......I miss you.

I thought that was funny, too!  Every once in a while I'll drop a "u" or "l8," only to be called on the carpet by my daughter-the-English-major.  "Two letters," is her line.  "Are you really so lazy that you can't type two letters?" 

The one time I texted her "wazzup" as a joke: ouch.  That one actually provoked a phone call.  "Do. Not. Ever. Do. That. Again."

And Chickadee, I have exactly the same reaction to the scandal magazine covers!  I know the name "Kardashian" but I can't keep them straight and have no idea how they first became celebrities.

Chick - lol! I think most people feel the same way. The culture is more and more for teeny boppers. I think the degree to which a person appears on the tabloids is inversely proportionate to how accomplished they are. I downgraded from those square things to a more comfortable flip phone.

Athena: stay safe.  People not used to sleet and snow tend to drive terribly - esp. if they have SUVs and don't realize that an SUV will still slide on ice when brakes are applied.  I would rather drive in Vermont in a foot of snow than in Jersey in half an inch.

It's so weird to read these stories about ice, snow and sleet. We're in the 70's here in Kansas! Normally this is a time of bitter cold. Last year was the same. I think I've broken out my gloves 3 or 4 times this year, and probably didn't really need them then. People, even little kids, are walking around in t shirts. Somehow this area seems to be experiencing global warming in its literal sense.

Yep, I am sitting here comfy and safe in my basement.  I am NOT going out in the freezing rain.  I broke one arm once on the ice - I have fulfilled my lifetime quota of ice-broken arms!  I am working from home, so they are getting some production from me anyway!

And people here DO think their big SUVs in 4wd will protect them from sliding on the ice.  AUGH!

Thunderstorm going on here this morning.  Slept pretty good last night, but ugg, this a.m. -- everything a bit of a struggle.  I got Flexeril ( not doing a lot, but may take some time ) and something for pain which hasn't done too much either.  Sigh !!!  I think I'm not recovering from the 140 miles round trip to get help with things. 

Linda.....I'm blaming my age on not knowing very many people at the check-out magazine racks.  I think in this information age, can anyone really care?   Is that our future??? 

On the other hand...Morning Joe discussing how non-needed Sarah Palin has become to the Republican party.  Now if they can just dump a few others like Bachman.  We just simply have to work together and it can't happen with people who spout extremism ideas while using English words that turn so many people totally off --- ( shuck and jive for instance ).  I hope the Republicans have ( seem to be leaning there a bit ) gotten the message that their present behaviors and party members could see this party dissolved if they don't get it together.  I don't see this as having anything to do with the President either.  The President is not their enemy....they are their own worst enemy.

Back to the moist heating pad for me.

I don't know who half of the celebrities on the magazine covers are either.  I used to enjoy reading People magazine.  Now it's a waste of money.  I think a lot of these people have risen to fame from reality shows.

For you suburbanites, definitely better to stay at home. On second thoughts, for us two-left-footers who have the privilege of walking to work, I'd better not leave just yet.

Was about treat (or bore) ye all with Valentino's couture show, but I found it rather boring. The two creative directors (a man woman team) make incredibly romantic dresses with STUNNING use of color. Will wait for their next show.

I don't know who these tabloid people are either.  Not a TV watcher but I hear some of the reality shows as hubby is in the living room flipping channels.  Sounds like either sleazy people or over the top 'I'm a dumb hillbilly' emoting.  At least I hope they are over acting.  If that is 'reality' we are screwed.

I watch American Pickers sometimes.  Most of those places they go looking for stuff are the male version of hoarders.  They just cram their junk in barns and yards.  I feel sorry for their families. 

Warmed up to rain today, then thunderstorms, then snow, then cold again.  I have sinus issues ... this constant change sucks.  Ice and sleet sucks also ... be careful out there.

Edited to add:  I just changed my user name from WhiteRabbit to Wabbit.  Not a big deal but my old user name is known to some IRL folks and I would just rather that not be the case.

Perfect snow (wet) today for making snowballs and snow "people"!  The Brits, who have been inundated with snow this month, have been advised to make lots and lots of snowpeople to reduce hazardous flooding, the theory being that compacted snow takes longer to melt.  Clever idea, I think!

I read something about all these celebrity nobodies awhile ago -- seems to have started with that truly obnoxious Paris Hilton (the original celebutante) who had the funds to produce and star in her own TV show.  But I still haven't figured out how the Kardashians became so "famous" (aka infamous).  All of a sudden there they were on the covers of the gossip mags at the supermarket checkout.  And then I learned their stepdad was Bruce Jenner (whom I remember from the Olympics).  And then I saw a picture of him -- plastic surgery gone way wrong.

I really have to laugh (aka wince) at the TV listing for The Learning Channel, when I see Toddlers & Tiaras, and Honey BooBoo.  Good grief!  The "Learning" Channel?????
